On the Grid : Helens Sushi

"This simple and low-key spot is remarkably one of the first sushi restaurants in Stockholm. To this day Stockholmers from all over the city choose Helene’s when they’re craving maki or miso. A huge plus is the impressive vegetarian section on their menu." - Lydia Kellam

I initially ordered delivery from here for dinner. I picked a mix of sushi and also took the vegan bibimbap. The food was nicely packaged, came in decent portions, and tasted good. It certainly made me want to now visit the restaurant to try more dishes. On UberEats it'll be great if they could put descriptions with the dishes and not just the title of the dish and an image. Based on my delivery experience, I went for dinner in the restaurant and the food was just as good. Other than the sushi selection, I had the gochuang tofu. As others said, the atmosphere's a bit basic, but who cares if the food is good.

You can expect good service from this family run sushi / wok restaurant. Best dishes are the lax (salmon) pokebowls, Bibimbap and Ramen with meat. Sushi is average but satisfying. Medium sized restaurant with plenty of seating. Good for dining alone or in small groups of up to 4. Sometimes the restaurant gets too warm and the food smells stick to the clothes.

Small sushi place, nothing fancy. Service was reasonable, not outwardly friendly, but also not stand-offish. Food was ok, nothing to write home about. Gyoza was filled with salmon and dill, which was quite surprising for me. Tasted more like a pelmeni. Rice came with kimchi on the side, which is interesting as it’s korean, but I’m not complaining.

Category: easy/casual local sushi. I would not call this a sushi bar where you go on a date night, but more a place where you go on a working night for good food. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is slightly old and dated but still in the same time charming. Staff working there are helpful and kind.

Really great ramen; small little place but food is packed with flavor. I'll definitely be back to try another and some sushi.

I’m allergic to gluten and am a vegetarian. Love the maki sushi!! They provide gluten free soya sauce and know about cross contamination and to avoid the miso soup.

One of my favorite places in Stockholm. Cheap and friendly place with a good vibe where you can get yourself a nice meal.

I would recommend to anyone who is in the area looking for an easy bite!

Yelp
I'm Stockholm for business and since this city is on the water I thought I would try out the sashimi. The restaurant is on the small side and right off the Main Street, which is good because I am walking. I ordered the large sashimi (about 30 pieces ( 1 inch X 2 inch)) and a tempura roll. The sashimi was a Mixture of salmon, tuna, mackerel, some kind of white fish and 2 shrimp. It came with a bowl of miso soup. The fish was extremely fresh and good colored. Overall a very good meal. I rated this place with five star because of the customer service and not having to wait to be seated or order.

Yelp
Used to be a good Japanese restaurant but after Helen sold the place, quality of food has really gone down. Any of warm dishes tastes horribly, the only edible dish is their sushi. Really such a pretty!

Yelp
Favorite sushi/asian take away food in hornstull. Great vegan option daily and vegan sushi!
