Yelp
**update** manager actually called me right after i posted this review and she listened to my concerns, and I really appreciate that, if i book again, i will book with her only.***
First Impression/Front Desk:
I'm so confused. The place was gorgeous, but the desk staff was so rude you kind of had to behave with an attitude to get through their thick little heads.
Waxing:
The wax was so thorough, painless, expertly-done, and smooth, but she double dipped! She didn't do it all the time, I saw many used dipping sticks, she used a special hard wax in more sensitive areas... but nevertheless... I thought double-dipping was the kiss of death!!??!!
Nails:
The nail technician was a doll, great 5-free nail polish section, and the nail seating was soooo comfortable, but the room had too many bright lights for it to be fully relaxing... and there were some super annoying patrons that made
The spa like experience not so relaxing... but I felt like the mani pedi could have been slightly longer given the price.
Service/Management:
I probably mentioned several times during my wax and nails that it's freezing, even tho I saw space heaters and temperature controls around, no one did anything to address my issue - not cool. I am wondering if I was even richer with more attitude, this could have made a difference. If a customer asks for something or feels uncomfortable, you address it without being explaining it away, always!! Especially in a supposed relaxing spa environment.
The front staff was nice when I had to pay at the end, and really only responded to snobbery and not kindness. This was reflected in the staff, who is used to that kind of management and clientele, but melted and became human when they realized I was a human too.
Pricing:
Very good prices on waxing, if you don't mind double dipping. Has everything under one roof and very professional staff.... but the double dipping??!!
Post-experience thoughts:
I spent quite some time thinking about whether that vat of wax was just for me, or if it's really No Big Deal to double dip on benign areas like a forearm or shoulder area... I don't know. Bc what if someone has some kind of topical skin issue that can be spread...???
I am so confused about this because loved my wax technician, but I was afraid to discuss this with the cold, impersonal front desk staff who I knew had no power to address this question and would just give me the PR runaround that would annoy me further. I won't be surprised if management writes back to me with more PR stuff.
tl;dr: Haven is a very clean and beautiful facility for a mid-price spa, skilled technicians... good humans at work. But the spa lacks emotionally intelligent management and this aspect clearly trickles to the service level.. and the double dipping is a big question mark for me.
