"This Mexico City hotspot started as a private, members-only club, and the speakeasy vibe continues to be a core part of the bar’s identity (you’ll see when you get there). The space is buzzy and inviting, with retro lighting and a wide bar." - Oset Babür-Winter

"Mexico City’s fun speakeasy shows no signs of stopping. Officially a membership club, ambitious gate-crashers (doll up and don’t be pushy; foreign accents not a liability) should look for a rather forlorn, seemingly late-night Calle Londres sandwich shop. Are those customers and employees real? Once you’ve talked your way through the air-lock-style door to the back room, you reach a genie’s bottle of a lounge, outfitted in sexy, disco style. Groups take booths and others sit at the bar where surprisingly friendly—and deeply knowledgeable—bartenders shake, stir, garnish, and ignite some of the city’s most showstopping haute cocktaillerie. They’re happy to make your usual, but why not let go a little, allowing mixologists to add their surprising touches? A winning combo of insiders-only and everybody’s-welcome. [ Editor's note: Go to theHanky Panky Facebook page and send them a direct message. They'll respond with the exact address and a reservation. ]"

"In true speakeasy fashion, the owners of this cocktail bar in Colonia Juarez request that patrons keep the location a secret. Once you enter a small, brightly painted restaurant, head towards the kitchen and go through a secret passageway where an employee will greet you and flip open a false wall to let you in. The space itself is remarkable: tall, luxurious leather chairs against the slick marble bar feel like thrones. There are also low-lit booths and a private room." - Scarlett Lindeman

Google
Cute speakeasy in Mexico City! Accessed via a taco store and exited via a fridge. Vibes are dark, romantic, and classy. All the cocktails we had were incredible. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. We didn’t try the food, but we heard it’s amazing. Would definitely recommend for date night or a small group!

Google
Quirky fun speakeasy with phenomenal cocktails. The bar staff are all incredibly friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed this artistic experience. They had themed cocktails representing best of techniques or memories from certain countries. This was an intellectual experience. Special shout out to Pedro who really made us feel at home!

Google
If you like sweet cocktails, mildly okay food then yes. It’s a cute vibe and worth your time. I like non sweet bold or refreshing favors. I don’t enjoy sweet food to drinks so it’s not the place for me. But the service is great. I enjoyed handshake 10xs over. The music was better drinks were better and over all a better experience. Every drink had a sweet twist unless you wanted straight up boozy drinks but still with a “ bannana” twist for the old fashion espresso martini was watery compared to others. Just a FINE bar. Not a huge miss. Food also only fine. Not worth it.

Google
We had a great time!!! The drinks were awesome, the bartenders were great and clearly love their jobs. I was nervous because of other reviews, but I disagree with many of them. The people who greeted us were perfectly nice. Also, it is not uncommon for mixologists to prepare drink mixes ahead of time as they sometimes require significant prep time (e.g., if something needs to be infused). That’s why some drinks seem to be poured out of bottles - because this allows the bartenders to serve you faster! The vibe was great. It’s a small space, and yes the bar chairs are close together, but that’s how you make new friends! And honestly, best espresso martini I’ve ever had! Would definitely go back.

Google
This is a fun little speakeasy that we recommend visiting while in Mexico City. It is very touristy and popular, so if that’s not your vibe, maybe look somewhere else. Definitely recommend making reservations & getting there early. The drinks are okay- good, but not fantastic. However, if you’re just looking for a good time- this is a cool spot.

Google
Let me start by saying I recommend getting a reservation. This place is apparently pretty hard to get into without one he showed up not knowing we needed one and the staff was super nice and got us in. It is right next to or let me rephrase inside of a taco stand. They will either bring you through the kitchen or the refrigerator. 100% do your research online before coming the atmosphere is why you come to this place. The drinks are good, but they are pricey.

Google
Great bar aesthetically, abysmal bar tenders. Having a beer at the picnic table out front is the best part of the experience. Got one drink which was great, then they took the last 1/3 away when I went to the bathroom. Annoyed but I got another after, which was good. Then waited about 25 minutes to get the attention of our bar tender who then forgot to make my drink and spent the next 20 flirting. The other bar tender seemed to be either MIA or cleaning despite most of the bar trying to get their attention and the bar backs not really having much to do. A barback made my drink out of frustration as one of the bar tenders disappeared and the other kept flirting. Eventually left leaving the cash on the bar. Group next to me had 5 people and waited for about 20 minutes for their first drink and left immediately after out of frustration as well. Why is it so hard to give you money? Seems like a great venue, cool entrance, but really need to figure out what’s going on with the bar staff. This should be a 1⭐️ review but the bar back who made my drink made it a 2⭐️. Definitely not top 50 in the world. Maybe top 50 in Juárez. I rarely leave bad reviews but what a miss for what could have been a great experience.

Google
Love the speakeasy concept for the bar and it is very nice on the inside. they have interesting concepts for the drinks, but flavor wise they weren’t my favorite. i definitely tried other bars in the city that i loved more. some of the drinks we tried were the fera tropical which was very smooth, thalassaki, tatras (best drink of the night), império- not a fan of this one. had a weird aftertaste

Chi A.

Yelp
Very unassuming speakeasy because I thought we were actually getting tacos. We walked in through the kitchen and were introduced to a quaint setting with high tops around the bar and a few booths off to the side. The bartenders were all very friendly and explained how the experience works. They even sit you and physically push in your chair for you at the bar. You're given a menu or a set of binoculars to look through and decide on a drink. The cocktails (and some mocktails) are themed, representing different techniques or memories from countries all over the world. This made the experience much more engaging and I learned a thing or two. It's definitely worth checking out, and you get to exit from a Modelo cooler. Doesn't get any better than that.

Kshama P.

Yelp
True speakeasy located below an unassuming taqueria. Their reservations are on OpenTable and only for 5,7,7.30 pm slots. So I'm guessing you've to wait for others in person. We went in for a 5pm slot and had a local tell us where to wait because the nametag is not present or obvious. Everyone in the taqueria was staff that was having a meal but it felt like we were waiting at a taco joint w locals... Until we knew of the facade. They take you downstairs and there's communal booth spaces or bar seating. Menu is huge. They have their signatures, drawing inspiration from around the world as well as a list they designed in collab w bars around the world, and maybe some classics. No wines, no spirit tasting... Which is exactly how a cocktail speakeasy should be. Drinks are fantastic, service is impeccable and they also gave us a celebration bubby for my bday!

Becca H.

Yelp
We loved this place! We stumbled upon this recommendation on Instagram and we made reservations. We had a party of 6 and got the best little booth with plenty of seats. Super cool speakeasy with delicious drinks !! We all loved our drinks, and the service was awesome!

Lanha T.

Yelp
Check-in with the hostess in the back of the restaurant and wait to be walked through the kitchen to the bar. Hanky Panky was dark and moody with a touch of vintage vibes. They specialize in drinks inspired from around the world. Everyone in our group ordered a different drink and each one was good. I had the Tatra from Solvakia. It was light, refreshing, not overly sweet with a hint of matcha. Great place for after dinner drinks with a cute exit through the Modelo drink case.

Justin T.

Yelp
We had a reservation for Hanky Panky right at their opening time at 5pm. We ended up getting bar seating, which I recommend so that you get to chat with the bartenders. I really enjoyed the vibe of this speakeasy. We went to several cocktail bars in CDMX, but Hanky Panky had the most personality. There were 4 bartenders at the time, and the 2 that were serving us were very interactive and fun. They have a wide variety of speciality cocktails that are inspired by different places in the world, so it was fun to look at the different ingredients and pick among the drinks. I will say that none of the drinks I had or tried really wow-ed me, but they were all good and the vibe made up for that. There is a 2 hour time limit for your visit, but we stayed for about an hour and 15 minutes, which was plenty to try a few drinks. Overall, I'd say Hanky Panky is worth checking out!

Kay Y.

Yelp
Super chic and cute. Drinks were meh but I loved the idea of a taco stand out front and speakeasy in the back. I came with some amazing friends and stag were super chill and nice. Whole could resist the Modelo stacked door! It's quite small in there so def be prepared to wait if full inside

Christina N.

Yelp
Fun little speakeasy hidden behind a taco shop where the drinks are travel themed. Concept is cool but unfortunately the drinks are no bueno. We ordered two drinks and did not enjoy both as the flavors just tasted off balance. The music was also way too loud. We went to 6 bars in CDMX and this was our least favorite.

Milke D.

Yelp
Great (and popular) speakeasy in Mexico City. Very cool vibe with a surprise entrance and exit. Service was very good and prices were reasonable. No wine or beer, just cocktails and a few light snacks. If you want to visit a cool hangout then try Hanky Panky.

Yvonne B.

Yelp
Three words: Secret. Cocktail. Bar. Hanky Panky is one of the best hidden speakeasy experiences I've been to in CDMX! Their team travels often and curates an impressive lineup with flavors around the world. If you don't like their cocktails, they can replicate drinks from international bars too! Love their conversational and quick service. Let your taste buds fly at Hanky Panky. RSVP for your spot on Resy.

Sunnie M.

Yelp
Such a fun concept! Incredible cocktails with rotating menu, super friendly staff, amazing ambiance and decor, and positive vibes. I loved their unique menu book, "twelve wonders of mixology", which had the best recommendations in the back for CDMX. Reservations are recommended but we were able to get in without by waiting 30 minutes.

Andre W.

Yelp
The cool thing about CDMX is that you meet cool people that give you recommendations on other cool places that you did not know about. As I was pouring mad drinks down my throat at Handshake, the woman next to me mentioned Hanky Panky and its billing of top 50 bars in the world. When I heard that, I immediately made reservations for the following evening. Me and a friend came by around 5pm on a Saturday evening. I searched the area multiple times and did not see the place until I ducked into a nearby store and asked where this place was. I did not do enough research to know that its hidden within a taco joint. Nice...love that! Staff walked me through a very thin hallway and down a couple steps if I remember correctly and all of a sudden it fely like I was in a totally different place. Very dark and speakeasy like, the way I like it. We were sat on the other end of the very popular neon Hanky Panky signage which was cool to get pics. Menu looked good, but of course I saw the one mezcal cocktail on the menu called the Guelaguetza. This drink was awesome as it came with a spoon of chocolate foam. The Tiger Punch was delicious as well. I enjoyed my time here as its a cool joint with good drinks and great vibe. Everyone here was having a good time. My only issue is that they dont go off script to make drinks as all drinks are batched our bartender told us. Aside from a couple drinks, not much spoke to us on the menu in that moment so we started asking for dealers choice and she mentioned she couldnt do that. Im like wow, how does this place have a top 50 in the world billing if they cant make cocktails not listed on the menu. I know its a cocktail loving tourist attraction and it can get packed but cmon lol! Aside from that, the place is dope.

Sean E.

Yelp
Loved the drinks and atmosphere here! Great experience while visiting Mexico City! Service was impeccable.

Hannah M.

Yelp
Ugh...really wish I could rate it higher. Went without a reservation around opening on a Tuesday and was able to be seated immediately. It's a cool concept, definitely a speakeasy in the sense that it's hidden in the back of a taco shop (do they actually serve food? No idea). They had just switched to a new menu. Also cool in theory, it was drinks inspired by different cities and they had a little viewfinder with city art. It could have been very cool but it was just very incongruent. The drink I wanted was apparently not ready? Not sure what exactly that meant but I pivoted and ordered something else instead. The drink I got ($200) was horrible lol. It was inspired by Greece apparently and was supposed to be salty to emulate the sea. It was gross. I was going to see if the original drink I wanted was available after but I ditched the bar after this. Space and concept are cool, prices are meh ($200-350 ish for drinks), service is good. But wow if the drink I had is indicative of the cocktail list as a whole I would never recommend this place.

Shruti J.

Yelp
Such a cool speakeasy! The entrance is through a small shop! I made reservations through Open table to come here for drinks on Saturday. We sat by the bar and ordered a round of drinks. I got the tigers punch and my husband got the Oaxacan old fashioned. I really liked my drink here.. it was one of their popular drinks and was recommended by the bartender. We also ordered some food, the shrimp tempura app, it was nice but not having deveined shrimp really bothers me and for that I'm reducing a star. Service was friendly and prices were a bit high considering how elite getting in here is. The exit was pretty cool, we exited through a refrigerator.

Zach O.

Yelp
If you didn't know, Hanky Panky was named one of the top 50 bars in the world in 2023, and after experiencing the speakeasy vibes and tasting the cocktails, I can see why. Don't get me wrong, the drink itself was good, but I think what makes this place special is the vibes. From walking in through a secret door to the lofi/sensual relax atmosphere, it's just straight chill. It's a good time and worth a drink!

Dominic B.

Yelp
Ranked number 22 on world's 50 best bars list. Speakeasy that's tucked inside a taco shop. Highly recommend reservation as it's a popular destination. Enter and be escorted into the speakeasy space. Moody, dark, with vibrant neon signs. Bar seating a limited booth seating. Energetic staff but do wish they were a bit more personal and engaged with us. Menu is called Passport, a logbook and reflection of experience and connection from around the world. Each drink is inspired by another country. - God Save the Queen: tequila altos plata, licor limoncello, licor de durazno - SPQR: lillet blanc, tito's vodka infused with citrus, soda de galliano con agua de coco - White Palace: tito's vodka infused with alga nagai. soda calpis de durazno clarificado, st. germain, saline - Tiger Punch: ron matusalem gran reserva 15, amaretoo disaronno, sriracha, te negro, pimienta negra, pimienta roja, cardamomo, clavo, curry, lemongrass, curcuma, jengibre, limon, piel de limon amarillo Favorite drink was Tiger Punch. Very complex balance of flavors, rich, not too spicy. Second favorite was SPQR, which was fresh, vibrant, and light. When you're done, you'll exit through a secret door disguised as a beverage fridge. very Instagrammable and fun.

Shefali P.

Yelp
I unfortunately was not a fan of this experience. Very small and dull in comparison to other lounges and cocktail bars I've been to in Mexico City. It was almost very pretentious.

Natasha B.

Yelp
The place is a bit more spacious than Handshake and the music is a bit lower so we could actually talk. But the presentation of the drinks and explanations by the staff were lacking. I felt that Handshake actually made itself an experience. The caprese drink here was just ok- no one was blown away by their drink here

Lizz M.

Yelp
My friend found this speakeasy that's been top rated! He made a reservation and the entrance was through the back, nothing special. The exit is where the fun is! The drinks were fun, I had one that had mole syrup and it was tasty. To my surprise none of my drinks were too sweet. It was a chill area and the bartenders were great! Best of all when you're done and hungry, the waiting area actually serves food and it's good! Also great size portions, two can share one plate! Definitely check it out!

Loni M.

Yelp
Cool speakeasy behind a fridge. Even though we had a reservation we still had to wait about 10 minutes for our table but as soon as we entered we understood why. It's very small inside with only like 3 tables and the rest bar seats. They made it worked though and we didn't feel squished. The vibe is dark maybe too dark since we couldn't read the menu lol. But the drinks were yummy and the service was good. Next time I'm in CDMX I will probably come back.

Bethany A.

Yelp
Hanky Panky was a pleasant surprise! The front of the house is an old school, almost Jamaican looking food spot. The speakeasy itself has an awesome vibe and great drinks! The cocktail menu has a lot of options, but I stuck with a simple Paloma and was not disappointed. Even the ice is impressive. Interior: They do have a bar, but most of the tables are on the larger side and accommodate bigger parties.

Rufael T.

Yelp
5/5 stars if you're looking for a true speakeasy experience. Great drinks, truly hidden bar, and an awesome vibe! Less popular than handshake, but much better cdmx speakeasy in my opinion!

Brittany M.

Yelp
Of course we had to go to hanky panky to try one of the top 50 bars in the world. Definitely a cool concept, you have to through a taco place and the speakeasy type bar is in the bar and then you come out of a fridge! You have try it out for yourself. The drinks are pricy but that is as expected, and it's small so definitely make reservations or could be waiting for up to 2 hours. The concept when we went was drinks from around the world and the menu was like a passport. I ordered one of the specialty cocktails that had vodka and a dirty martini. They have shared tables so we sat with another group and there's bar seating. Would recommend checking it out if you can!

Samantha W.

Yelp
If you're on the fence about making the reservation - just do it! This is a speakeasy, and I won't reveal how to get in but it's pretty cool. Very different vibes than the entrance area! We were trying to get to as many of Bon Appetit's Top 50 bars in CDMX as we could, and I'm so glad we got a spot. The cocktails really are amazing. I love the Cocktail Passport, which in the back also has recommendations for other establishments in the city. Our bartender, Mike, was great. He gave recommendations based on our preferences and he showed off his drink making skills. He also warned us about drinks that could be strong or food that could be spicy (none of it was too strong or too spicy though )

Kathleen N.

Yelp
This is suppose to be one of the top bars in the world? I'm confused to as why. The concept is cool, it's a speakeasy type bar that you would not expect on the outside. The service was good, the interior of the actual bar was cool, but the drinks were a different story. My friend group and I ordered 5 different drinks. I ordered the white palace which I would not recommend. We all passed around our drinks to try and unfortunately, none of which were cocktails we enjoyed. You are really only paying for the experience as they do have a cool concept and the inside is very aesthetic. If you're looking for a good cocktail place I would look elsewhere.

Sierra L.

Yelp
I totally understand why this is consistently ranked in the best bars of the world! I love a speakeasy vibe and hanky panky does not disappoint. The entrance is in an unassuming taqueria in a quiet neighborhood. I won't give too much more away to not spoil the surprise. After being led to the bar we had amazing service from our bartender. They also encourage interaction with the other guests and we got to know our neighbors well in the two hours we enjoyed at the bar. The cocktails are smooth and well balanced. The music is vibey and completes the sexy vibe of the bar. I had the tartas and espresso martini! If you like matcha you'll love the tartras. Book in advance or show up early because the bar stays busy!!

Michael A.

Yelp
***The World's 50 Best Bars (2022): #13*** Coming in at #13 on The World's 50 Best Bars list is Hanky Panky. Unlike Handshake Speakeasy, this bar is actually very difficult to find. Seriously, we were lost when the Uber dropped us off. So, despite their respective names, I'd say Hanky Panky is more of a true speakeasy than Handshake in that sense. I'd definitely recommend coming a few minutes early to give yourself some time to find it. Once inside, you'll be greeted by a beautiful bar with comfortable seating and top notch bartenders. The decor/atmosphere is on point. To drink, we started with a Guelaguetza and a Hanky Panky. We simply couldn't go to Hanky Panky without ordering a Hanky Panky. A couple more rounds followed, including a Naked and Famous, and what I believe was a "God Save the Queen" (a couple locals we met before going in bought my friend this from the other end of the bar!). Needless to say, our time here was extremely memorable. We had a complete blast.

Michael B.

Yelp
Hanky Panky Cocktail Bar is on the 50 Best Bar list. It does not deserve to be on the 50 Best Bar list. The best thing about the bar is the atmosphere. It's hidden inside a local taquería which makes finding it and entering a fun experience - unless you're late. Even exiting is fun, but I'll leave you to discover why on your own. Then come the drinks and staff. The drinks are...okay. At best they're normal good. I've had many cocktails at neighborhood bars that are better and cheaper. Right now (March 2024) the menu has a distinctly olive motif. Many drinks have olive garnishes, olive brine, or tasting notes of olive. If you don't like olive don't come. Those drinks are fine because it's their specialty, but their flavors are monotone olive. The drinks without olive like God Save the Queen are generic. That drink in particular tasted like peach flavored vodka you'd buy in college even though it's gin based. Their best drinks are on their guest drink menu from better bars like Connaught Bar in London or Sips in Barcelona. In summary, you're wasting your money buying cocktails here at these prices. Even one of the bartenders directly told me he cares more for atmosphere than the taste of drinks. If that's the overall attitude of staff, that's a problem. I've drank at most of the top 10 bars on the current 50 Best List and many others lower on the list so I feel that I have some credibility. Hanky Panky isn't bad, but it's obviously overrated for flavor. This bar is a disappointment.

Cherry F.

Yelp
This is one of the best Bars I have ever tried . From the ambiance , the service to the amazing, creative and well balanced drinks ! I literally drank almost every drink on the menu and not once was I disappointed. Simply amazing, no wonder they are in the top 50 bars in the world!

Erika O.

Yelp
The vibe was my favorite thing! The drinks are unique, and watching the bartenders make them was exciting. The speakeasy looks like a taco shop on the outside. Make a reservation but often some don't show up so we didn't have to wait long for a spot.

Kimberly F.

Yelp
Service was great. Chairs were comfy. Drinks were strong and great. Their award was well deserved!

Rakesh R.

Yelp
Such a cool place, amazing ambience and bartenders. Watching them make drinks is like watching an artist at work - so professional and talented. This place is worth a visit - if you can find it!

Ivan Z.

Yelp
hands down one of my favorite bars in cdmx for this particular vibe. the entry and exist is kind of insane because it's pretty well hidden (luckily it's findable on google maps)! Everyone in the area knew that it existed and its hilarious to see signs around nearby like "this is not hanky panky" and pointing in the correct direction. won't spoil the surprise because it's honestly super delightful and the vibes are REALLY good inside, there's this bright red light ambience from the neon sign on the wall and the bartender was fantastic. I forgot exactly what I ordered but all of the menu items are associated with a major city and has the corresponding flavors from that location.

Caroline G.

Yelp
This place was the highlight of my last CDMX trip. I met a colleague here for drinks and while it's a little hard to find, the cocktails did not disappoint and ambiance did not disappoint. Each cocktail is modeled after a different place with the flavors indicative of that place. Our bartender was amazing and the other patrons were incredible as well. New fav bar in CDMX.

Ana P.

Yelp
Unfortunately I wouldn't come back. We were there last night and greeted by a VERY RUDE hostess who was not at the stand when we arrived and as she saw me approaching the door yelled at me "NO!" Hand gesture and all. Honestly that is an absolutely aggressive way to greet a customer, therefore, we have no incentive to go back to a place where we are mistreated. So that's my first impression and then we were seated promptly at the bar since we had reservations. The bartender was very professional and polite, we ordered two rounds of drinks which were good, the ambiance is fine, the place gets full. They have a small bites menu available.

Jessica D.

Yelp
Amazing speak easy! Small secret room that was full of fun! Drinks were unique too. Love the travel theme inside for drinks.

Ryen B.

Yelp
I loved this place, but can see how others wouldn't. They seat several groups into a single tiny booth. Not great if you are a big person or if you don't like being stuck on the inside. And LOTS of American tourists. Still, if you can deal with that, the place is def worth checking out. Make a reservation in advance, enter through a colorful restaurant, squeeze in, and enjoy. Drinks are beautiful, tasty, so reasonably priced compared to what you pay in the US for this quality. Recommend!

Daniel M.

Yelp
Quite an amazing experience at one of the highest rated bars in the world. When you get here, it's easy to get confused because the front is a hole in the wall taco joint. But then you step through a soda machine into the bar, and come into a unique environment fitting for Mexico City. The drinks here are so unique. I tried Tigers Milk which had so many different flavor profiles to it. Very hard to describe, had some spice and asian influence with the lemongrass. You could taste different ingredients after sipping, swallowing and the aftertaste. Never had such a complex drink in my life and highly recommended if you want to try something unique. Service was also quick and our bartender was really good. Loved watching them make these complex drinks. Would love to go again when I hit up Mexico Ciry again.

Nick C.

Yelp
This speakeasy which is situated at an impressive #12 on the World's 50 Beat Bars list, lived up to the hype. I won't ruin how to find it or where to look, plenty of other reviews have that information I'd you so choose, but I will tell you that if you don't know, you don't know! It's really cool to try and find this speak easy and once you do you won't regret the effort. Visiting DF for my birthday, we decided to pop in without a reservation (not recommended, but possible) on a Tuesday night. We ended up spending about two hours here trying as many of the incredible libations as we could. The theme was a passport menu with pictures and wonderful descriptions of drinks highlighting flavors and cultures from all over the world. In my review I'll include just a few of the MANY drinks we tried this night. These prices are nowhere near the prices of a similar bar in New York or LA btw. Would give ten stars, so I might just go back once more to give an additional 5 ;)

Rob B.

Yelp
Great speakeasy! Looks like a store, my brother and I were a little confused. We didn't know it was a speakeasy. Then the cooler door opened and wala lol. Awesome service, amazing drinks that will have you turnt. It's a little small in the bar area but the atmosphere is great. I would absolutely return to this place.

Austin G.

Yelp
Go to Hanky Panky for the experience, not the drinks. One of the world's "Top 50 Bars," it's a true speakeasy tucked away in a taco shop in the Juarez neighborhood. Make a reservation online weeks (or months) ahead of when you want to go. They'll then send you the address. My friend and I tried walking in on a random Friday. It was booked, but the host did give us a slot the next night even though all the reservations were taken. We showed up on a Saturday at 9 p.m. After waiting for around 15 minutes, we were taken through a door into a beautiful, intimate speakeasy. There's a bar and booths on the main floor and a small staircase leading to a big table on the bottom level. That's where we sat with another pair. Still or sparkling water is brought to you and a server walks you through the cocktail menu. It's titled "passport" and leads you around the world with global-inspired drinks. The back has classic cocktails and a list of places to visit while in CDMX. Drinks are more expensive compared to other bars in the city, but not horrible compared to D.C. or NYC. However, the drinks are VERY watered down, taking away from the taste. My Bee's Knees was good, but because of how watered down it was, it took away from the quality. It just wasn't good. So....if you want a fun speakeasy experience, go here, but know the cocktails aren't the best in the city. Personally, Lardo's "Tahini Sour" was WAY better...and stronger.

Yelp
Well I thought we were getting some tacos.. then I was transported to a great big rockin' Cocktail Bar! My associate had been here before so it was kind of a surprise/ speakeasy in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday Night. Walking in... huge bar with great red leather bar stools, great looking staff, if you can't get comfortable here you're drunk already! Extensive cocktail list and most are poured by the owner who was on hand when we were at the bar. The cocktails were outstanding, the music was good & loud and the price was right, they said. Clientele ranges from regulars to gringos all the way to tinder dates gone BAD! Busy all the time and they recommend a reservation. Talk later

Yelp
Such a cool, nice spot to visit. It is a true speakeasy with hidden entrance and exits. Thank goodness a local on the street was able to point me in the right direction, because the google maps address didnt even take me to the right spot (its across the street in what looks like a taco shop). You definitely needed a reservation when I went on a Tuesday evening. The speakeasy vibe holds true inside with a more lounge-y feel, lower music, and quiet conversation. Was exactly what I needed! The bartenders are too busy to offer pleasant conversation so it may not be the best option for solo travellers. Still good for 1 drink Highly recommend: Naked and Famous

Yelp
This bar is hidden inside of a small restaurant. The vibe is dark and chill. However the drinks were just ok for us, I was expecting more with the flavors but it just didn't hit the mark with us and we ordered a few drinks to taste test. So you definitely go for the experience but not the drinks I would say. You need to make reservations to get a spot.

Yelp
I may have gotten into trouble here. Haha. After being left by an Uber occupied by my American BF (didn't know how to say wait) I decided to take matters into my own hands, secretly through a pizza restaurant. I was slightly confused since there is no sign anything is really happening, but I must have stood out, haha. I was taken through a secret door and entered a very private, not crazy crazy occupied- just enough - and some very good music. Trust me when I say time will fly when you don't have windows and crafty good cocktails are being sent your way. Needless to say, I met some nice people who felt my pain and then helped me to get a car back. Dress code, look good!

Yelp
Was visiting Mexico City and went to Hanky Panky... This bar is a speakeasy and does require a reservation to get in... It was very difficult to find because it is hidden inside what looks like a food stand... The first time we tried going to Hanky Panky, we sent an email request online but did not get a reply back, so this time we decided to just show up and see if we could get in... We went on a Tuesday night around 12am so it was not busy, they were able to accommodate us without a reservations so we got lucky...It did take us awhile to actually find the bar, I noticed some people coming out of a vending machine inside a food joint so I figured it was the hidden entrance to the bar... The place is awesome, it is a very small bar so I understand why its by reservation only, I imagine it gets extremely busy on the weekends... The interior is beautiful and they have amazing decor with exotic wildflower arrangements... The staff was very Friendly and helpful... The crowd is very upscale and hipster... The drinks were ok.. We were honestly expecting them to be so much better, we ordered 4 different drinks to try them out and see which we liked best... They do have a full bar so you can order whatever you want but we wanted to try the house specials... They do require you to order food with any drink purchase... We ordered the shrimp elote...It was definitely different..I love Mexican corn, but have never had it with shrimp... Overall it was a great experience and a super cool bar... If you are ever visiting Mexico City and want to explore the bar scene, I recommend checking out Hanky Panky...

Yelp
We were very excited to visit Hanky Panky because we have heard great things about them. And they also ranked no.13 world's best bars. However, we were disappointed by quality of the drinks. Maybe we ordered the wrong things but they were not as creative as we expected them to be. Also, the space is very small, crowded, and loud. I personally wouldn't return here or recommend people coming here.

Yelp
Wonderful speakeasy with fair amount of mystery. Entry and exit to the place is super fun. Bless the lady on the street who pointed us in the right direction to what looked like a taqueria. The drinks were phenomenal. I had naked and famous which is perhaps the best Mezcal based drink I have ever had( don't like Mezcal much). Other drinks on the table were also good- tiger punch and Roma. Limited food options- we had the pork chorizo, shrimp tempura and beef.. will recommend the pork..
