"I took a long walk and picked up a book at Greenlight Bookstore and groceries Greene Grape. Some passion fruit, tortilla chips, I always get spinach or arugula. Google
Great quality items but a wee bit expensive. However, didn’t stop me from shopping as this stuff is better than other places. Few items actually cheaper here than regular big-box shops. I’m English and found Colman’s mustard here for $2 less than the usual grocer. Quality of meat at this butcher is top notch.

Google
The sandwich stand there is a cold hard joke! The customer service provided in that particular area of the Grape recently declined immensely. Like pullin their teeth askin them to make you a sandwich 🙄 Would you want someone with that kinda negative energy to be handling the food your about to consume?… So, I stopped.

Nancy C

Google
Pretty awful charging 8x the regular price for simple food items you can find in other stores who won’t price gouge you. No need to throw money away on a business who clearly doesn’t care.

oscar simo de leon

Google
might be a tad pricey but well worth it ... nice selection.nice layout.nice staff ... clean. good lighting, too ... the aroma of what was being cooked/prepped at 1130am stirred my appetite ...

Google
Unique and local marketplace adds much to this nice strip of Fulton St. Delicious sandwiches and yummy looking cheeses and snacks make this a great place to pick something up for company, or for yourself. Four stars because some parts are slightly overpriced.

Vincent Color

Google
This place is massively overpriced and the quality doesn't live up to the Erewhon level prices. I spend $20 on 3/4 lbs of salmon and it was clearly a cut that had been sitting there for a while. It broke apart immediately when sautéed. I tried buying olives for a salad and the cheapest olives they had were $12! Will not be going back.

Rachel Tang

Google
Definitely a market to treat yourself. Like others said, it’s not cheap. But the quality is pretty incredible. Love their prepared foods, really like grabbing their veggies and proteins for dinner. Amazing crew as well and always kind. Also, have used Too Good to Go which is fantastic and helps eliminate food waste. I got their bag one time and was so pleased with the quality, variety and amount of fresh food I got. Their plant burrito sandwich made me happy. I applaud them for partnering with the app and providing some affordable options at a great deal.

Google
Are you looking for a boutique grocer with quality, high end products? Then Greene Grape is your place - just come prepared to pay for what you get as it’s more expensive than others locally. I love that there’s a full animal butcher and a small fromagerie too.

Rob W.

Yelp
With a severe dearth of quality provisions-type shops in Clinton Hill (hello, budding entrepreneurs!), this has become an important long but pleasant stroll for me when I need the essentials--quality cheese, charcuterie, olives, dips, and beer! They also have a super fresh and impressive produce section, some interesting prepared foods, and a good butcher. Sure, the prices do sometimes feel too high, but at least here you largely feel like you get what you pay for.

Jake B.

Yelp
Overpriced product. Most of the produce is sourced from the same vendors as Mr Mango down the street yet double the price.

Attosa C.

Yelp
Great quality items but a wee bit expensive. However, didn't stop me from shopping as this stuff is better than other places. Few items actually cheaper here than regular big-box shops. I'm English and found Colman's mustard here for $2 less than the usual grocer. Quality of meat at this butcher is top notch.

Kenny C.

Yelp
These are some of the most exorbitant prices I've ever seen. $5 for a single avocado. In Brooklyn??? Anyway, I'll give them credit where credit's due - their butcher station is legit. They have everything you'd need for an amazing meal. They also have a sandwich/hot food station as well.

Annelise C.

Yelp
Good selection for meats and cheeses, the produce is a bit expensive but that makes sense if you are looking for locally grown stuff.

Stacia K.

Yelp
This store has a nice selection of items, including an excellent selection of chocolate bars. The downside is that everything is wildly expensive!

Allana D.

Yelp
After coming here for a few years, I must say, this is a fancy grocery store. Everything is thoughtfully sourced and fresh with lots of local and organic options. The deli has a good selection of sandwiches and pre-made, well seasoned main dishes, salads and sides. As you can imagine, that means the groceries don't come cheap but shopping here (and eating what I shop : ) is always a real treat! Oh, and they've got lots of covid precautions in place and do delivery if you'd rather stay home.

Dave R.

Yelp
Ok, this place definitely deserves a higher rating. The fruits and veggies are super fresh. The pre-made meals and soups are delicious. Also, try the turkey meatballs, they're fantastic. They have a ton of local products. Stuff you wouldn't find elsewhere, so you always get a unique shopping experience. To be honest, I usually go to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. But coming here is like a breath of fresh air. There's plenty of unique items and it's got that small grocery charm to it. All in all you'll pay more but you'll support local and get way better quality. That's the beauty of why I shop here.

K K.

Yelp
the store has a very nice feel inside. It's clean and it has a great selection. However, it's super expensive. Chocolate bars that cost 4 dollars elsewhere are marked up to $8. The other day, we almost bought a cauliflower for $14 and had to put it back after we saw the price during checkout.

Falcon K.

Yelp
Greene grape provisions has their google hours listed as closing at ten pm. I walked to Greene Grape Provisions in the cold. When I arrived Greene Grape Provisions was unkindly closed. The staff gave me an unsavory and disapproving look through the window as I read the posted hours on their door. I don't know what was more debasing and cold. The January night air or the vibe from the staff. Most cold and debasing of all was probably the negligence of the management to not have google hours accurate in this climate.

Katy F.

Yelp
I have been a regular at this spot only because it's close to my apartment. I get a little annoyed when I pay high prices for certain mediocre products...But the real reason I have to write this review & have questioned giving Greene Grape my business is because every time that I am in the store I overhear employees talking about how underpaid they are. A company that hides behind a facade of progressiveness and forward thinking while underpaying their staff, a majority of whom are black and brown people, is not somewhere that I want to continue giving my money.

C B.

Yelp
They should come up with more appealing premade sandwich menu options or change the ordering process for "build your own" sandwiches so it is less painful and awkward for the workers and customers.

B K.

Yelp
Decent product and selection for a small local grocery, but what a mess! Good luck figuring out the price of anything, nothing is labeled. Oh supposedly the prices are on the shelf but half the time they're missing or for the wrong product. And when it's the kind of store where a can if fish might be $2 or it might be $20 you could be in for a big surprise at the register. It's just a pain in the a$$ to shop there because unless you're the kind of rich gentrifier who doesn't ever have to look at price tags you're stuck asking about half the things in your cart before purchasing. There doesn't seems to be any order if you're looking for something. Half the condiments are over here, a bunch of others are in a different room, yet more somewhere else. Who's running the show here?

Tali B.

Yelp
I go here for groceries all the time but was very disappointed this last time. Picked up a prepared freekeh salad and when I ate it, I ended up almost breaking my teeth on several small rocks that were in the salad! It was painful and gross. Nobody picks up when I call during business hours; in fact, the automated greeting tells me to hold and then it says, "sorry we missed your call" and hangs up on me. Not sure I'll be going back.

Deirdre L.

Yelp
Greene Grape Provisions has a great catering menu. Was able to try their different offerings from their pesto pasta to their delicious chocolate chip cookies. If you ever have a question about catering, the staff is very helpful and will help you with whatever you need for your event.

Gail C.

Yelp
Nice, farmer fresh grocery/deli store but severely overpriced. My sandwich was alittle over eleven dollars. It was a large, hefty yet delicious sandwich. My order was Boar's head honey roasted turkey, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and honey mustard glaze on ciabatta bread. It was a delicious sandwich by the way. This was my first time trying ciabatta bread. I usually prefer a softer texture bread like baguette since it's easy to chew but the ciabatta bread was pretty tasty. I must admit that I had to save part of the sandwich for later since I was full after the first half. The longer it took for you to get to the cashier meant you were going to dig deep in your pockets. Despite the high caliber of every produce, meat and packaged goods, the prices were outrageous. A few items in your basket/cart would easily go beyond fifty bucks. I would rather come here for eating purposes but rather take my heavy-duty shopping elsewhere.

Yelp
This is one of the many reasons why I love Fort Greene. Every morning before ducking into the G subway stop on Fulton St., I manage to walk inside and grab my morning usual. They use Stumptown Coffee and the iced coffee is always strong, fragrant and refreshing. They also carry a lovely assortment of pastries. I have been very bad lately. I really like their cheddar and scallion biscuits. Oh, and the date and blue cheese scone is out of this world. You wouldn't think a pungent cheese like blue cheese would be the first thing to eat in the morning, but wow does it wake up your mouth! They offer high-quality meats including prosciutto (which I have used to bake cookies), sopressata, and speck. There is also a generous selection of cheeses including cheeses made with raw milk, sheep milk, and goat milk. They have a very good selection of high end chocolate. I am a chocolate fiend so I have tried a different bar almost every week. They carry Taza chocolate (this is stone ground chocolate that has a grainy, sandy consistency) and it is amazing. I can eat the whole bar in a one sitting. They also carry Vosges chocolate, the Goji berry and Himalayan salt is my favorite flavor. They also sell Nunu chocolates and that is next up in the queue for me to try... And although the prices are a bit higher than average, it is well worth it. They choose their products carefully, and they always carry high-quality, fresh products. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
This is another fancy grocery store in Fort Greene with outrageous price tags. I'm glad that this kind of cute local shop is surviving, but every time I come in, I feel not sure what would worth buying here. The shop says they have very unique items, but you can buy many of them at Whole Foods (and they would be the exact same items from the same brand, often just cheaper.) Vegetables and fruits here are expensive but I haven't felt they are especially fresh or good quality. Going to a farmer's market sounds like a much better idea. I might try their seafood/ meat/ cheese counters or prepared food next time, but unfortunately I don't eat much of those. Just trying to make use of a cute shop..

Casandra S.

Yelp
I was charged $3.25 for one plain, non-heirloom tomato.... I mean I know it's expensive to shop at a yuppie market in Fort Greene, but that's actually beyond believable. Besides, the staff is always pretty rude... get your produce at Mr. Mango!

RB C.

Yelp
Came here in search of Rosemary sprigs on Easter Sunday since every supermarket sold out. Not only did Greene Grape have them, the Rosemary was the freshest that I had in years... and my lamb came out wonderful. Greene Grape has a little bit of everything. I really liked the poultry & meat section. It is a gourmet/organic grocer & prices are steep. But its high quality & worth an occasional splurge.

Anna K.

Yelp
I always get what I need. Fruit are always fresh. They have a wide variety of cheeses. I like that they have every type of condiment possible. Also they have different types of milk and peanut butter for us picky eaters. It's kind of understandable they overcharge, market value people. Tell me how many stores in this area consider the vegetarians and special need eaters ?

Jin K.

Yelp
I really want to like this place, I really do. The staff is super friendly and they have nice but small selection of goodies. We have come here on multiple occasions to cook a Sunday dinner. Unfortunately, the prices are pretty outrageous. This past Sunday we bought: 4 sausage links 1/2 a pound of salami 2 small wedges of cheese crackers This came out to a whopping $70!!! That seems even more expensive than whole foods.

Chris C.

Yelp
GGP brings its A-game on price roulette. $20 for a box of prepared cauliflower. https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/fruit-and-vegetable-prices.aspx

Brendan T.

Yelp
Much needed in the neighborhood and they don't forget it for a minute. Staff is generally very nice and professional. Pretty good selection of pre packaged grocery products and goods, many local and/or artisanal (obviously, look where we are). Cheese and cured meats= good, butcher=decent, seafood=so-so, but they are the only real neighborhood option nearby for any of these. Weird, awkward layout can cause nightmare jams at times. Prices a bit too high all around, but again they serve a huge purpose in the neighborhood so you just gotta suck it up. Also the sister wine store is awesome.

Samantha D.

Yelp
This place is the worst. Yes, the staff is super friendly and yes, their produce is locally sourced and often adorable (fairytale eggplants and other assorted teeny tinys) but it is SO EXPENSIVE and SO limited. It's more like a food boutique than the general store it would like to believe it is. It can be fun to food window shop here but that can also be depressing for obvious reasons. When I need harder to get items that I know they have like a whole pigs head or certain spices, then I'm glad they exist. Other than that, I hate this stupid place.

Alina J.

Yelp
Great place to stop by for a quick lunch at the deli counter or to grab a drink and snack. Also, they carry a selection of common good, an alternative laundry line, which I've been using. It smells great and gently cleans.

Kunal S.

Yelp
We come every single week and buy specialty items throughout the store. Every single week. I go to the farmers market with my toddler beforehand and get her an apple which she eats in her stroller. Before even entering the store the apple was put in a cup holder out of my daughter's reach. When checking out, I didn't realize the one cashier wasn't open and she rudely told me she wasn't. So I went to the other cashier, lo and behold, the manager was behind the first register. As I was checking out, she asked if I took a honeycrisp and I said no. Then she said her staff "saw me take it", I again emphatically said "no, it's from the farmers market". I wasn't eating it, I hadn't even touched it since entering, and it wasn't yours or a honeycrisp for that matter, it was mine. The first time is a confirmation ('oh did you forget?'), the second time you bring up your 'staff' which DIDNT see something which DIDNT happen it's an accusation. And for what? A 50 cent apple? Was that the reason to lose a customer? Would it have hurt you to say 'Oh, sorry then'? Last time I ever come. Sorry. I'll travel twice the distance before I suffer an unfounded public accusation. Rude rude rude.

Victoria B.

Yelp
I do wish there were more vegan options and the prices were more reasonable. I keep coming back for exciting finds for dinner. An example is the roasted garlic divina. I could eat that all day. And I like the print outs for the the kids at the register. The one about bats being great pollinators was my favorite.

George C.

Yelp
Goodness gra(pe)cious GGP is of the new breed of BK gourmet/specialty/etc. 'grocery stores', boasting a nice but characteristically un-cheap selection of unique/seasonal/local/etc. foodstuffs. They employ a Brookly staff and the place is in good shape, and I was overjoyed that 1. I could find a pint of Adirondack Hills kulfi pistachio cardamom and 2. that the $4.99 price tag involved no tax and could be covered with plastic. Grab a spoon and walk to the no-frills park down the block to scarf down the entire thing (rational), or just bring it back to your apartment's freezer (less reasonable).

Jesse M.

Yelp
Best little grocery store in Fort Greene, they have delicious sandwiches, the staff is friendly, and I love their quirky selection - they keep me coming back, again and again!

Suzy J.

Yelp
I come here for two specific prepared foods Greene Grape does well. I always get the same cashier who won't return a "hello," which the customer should NEVER initiate. I only know our transaction is complete when she says, "you're all set," never "thank you," which is the more courteous and classier option.

Lisa H.

Yelp
I've lived in the neighborhood for about four years and this is the only place I buy meat in NYC. I trust where they're sourcing the meat from (everything is raised locally on sustainable farms) and the butchers are all wildly knowledgeable about every cut because they butcher whole animals. They are also always experimenting with custom sausages. They have a Vietnamese one (I think it's called the banh mi sausage) that has cilantro and fish sauce and somehow is amazing. I also always get the garlic brined pork chop whenever they have it -- you can see how well-marbled it is and it's not the healthiest thing you can eat because of the marbling that makes it tender and juicy, but it's worth it. A quick lunch or dinner for me is a seared steak of one of the cheaper leaner cuts of beef (usually top round) with just salt and pepper --- you can actually taste the difference from farm to farm and they sometimes have wagyu mixed into the beef cut offerings.

Ida K.

Yelp
I like this place, they have a great selection of cheeses, spices, and veggies / fruit are always fresh. I wish they had more bread spreads, though. What I dislike is the ice cream section - the ice crystals imply that the cold chain has been disrupted, so I won't buy ice cream there, which is too bad because they have a great selection!

Luis G.

Yelp
Good food and typical hipster customer service (e.g. one of the butcher guys, who is probably trying to be an actor or model in his spare time, has trouble getting over himself enough to make eye contact and making verbal responses to my friendly questions, never says "you're welcome" or anything. Just kind of a guy not satisfied with his station in life, seemingly). Oh yeah, and everything is exorbitantly overpriced.

Christina S.

Yelp
Went to this location today around 4 for the first time with a specific small list to hunt for my dinner for my family, first stepped in and WOW! The produce was amazing and the deli had excellent soup i felt like i didnt want to leave until i met the butchers they definitely know their stuff! After about 20 minutes of enjoying myself i thought let me head on out and told the big gentleman at the register with the glasses and a beard by the coffee grinder that this was my first visit and i loved it and he thanked me for the compliment and he hoped that greene grape had made me feel welcome, definitely coming again!!

Briana M.

Yelp
The Brooklyn Mooseum ____________________ Peppery, rich roast beef, sharp cheddar, horseradish mayo, onion, lettuce, on delicious, slighty herbed bread. The best sandwich I have had in a very, VERY long time. It was so rich and delicious, I almost felt as if there was a slice of liverwurst in there! Don't hate, appreciate. I could hardly keep myself from consuming it in less than sixty seconds! Add friendly, knowledgeable service, a million quality meat and cheese products, and you've got one incredibly awesome store. The coffee is good too!

Jae Z.

Yelp
There was an adorable cheese counter guy who starred in my five minute fantasy life as Amelie as I waited for my portion of excellent Camembert. The coffee is excellent, so are the Balthazar baguettes and breakfast pastries.

Joye P.

Yelp
Fabulous little neighborhood market. Lots of specialty items. I picked up some figs there last weekend (9/12/09), and they were WONDERFUL. There's a friendly and very cute guy who works behind the cheese counter. Definitely wanted to sample the wares. They have a good selection of 'old world' cheeses produced in Vermont; I was impressed by an aged soft cheese that I tried. The guy at the checkout had some hot sauce, for the sampling. Burnt our taste buds out for a bit; good stuff! I strongly recommend.

Pamela S.

Yelp
I want to start off by correcting another review by saying that this place IS NOT cash only. Whenever i shop there (1x a month or so) I always use my debit card. All of that being said I will go back to the fact that I shop here 1x a month or so due to the high prices. Yes, many of the products are made by small companies, local companies, etc. and this often means that they are more expensive. I get this, but I am a social worker and do not have the bank account of a doctor. I wish that I could shop here more, truly I do. I had the opportunity this past weekend to go in for an iced coffee and LOVED IT. It was perfect in every way and just what I needed. A great selection of fresh breads behind the counter rounded out our groceries for dinner perfectly too! I do also LOVE the fact that this location can get some items that I was not able to find in other markets around the city or in Bklyn. Jeni's ice cream was something I had been looking for everywhere and finally found that it was in my neighborhood @ Provisions! Specialty indeed!!! If i could give Provisions 3 1/2 stars I would, but I hope that my review is honest and gets my point of view across to all my fellow Yelpers. Bottom line: 1) Great local products from some local and regional small companies 2) wonderful coffee bar 3) pricey for some (most) things 4) Worth it in the end

Arthur O.

Yelp
The new grocery store in the neighborhood. Just down the street from Fresh Garden, practically right next to its sibling, Greene Grape Wine, Greene Grape Provisions is a welcomed new grocery-option in the area. I wish these guys were popping up on Myrtle, though, since it'll be closer to my apartment . . . but I suppose some parts of the universe is continuing to refusing to revolve around me. When I stopped by the other day, they were still "moving-in" it seemed, with one of their shelves completely barren. Sure, it's pretty cramped like Fresh Garden, but Greene Grape Provisions provides fresh meat and fish in addition to general goodness of all the fine things we've come to appreciate. I may just hop on the bike and ride over to the other side of the neighborhood and forsake The Assos* forever. * Associated Supermarket

DeLana D.

Yelp
This place is near a lot of places I frequent a lot, and being a lover of coffee that I am, I am both drawn here for the price of the coffee, and the quality of the coffee. For the area, I think it wins there. However. Where I win with price and quality, I lose repeated (REPEATEDLY) by the customer service I receive. And listen, I get it. I'm not a high roller. I just want to come, drop my $2, sweeten my cup and leave. I don't need much extra care. Just for you to accept the money, maybe acknowledge my existence, and do it with a little bit of respect. Am I asking too much? The last time I came in there, there was a long line at the regular cashier, and so I did the self-serve coffee and was preparing my smile and hello to the woman in front of the coffee-drinks cash register. She growled at me and said that register was closed and that I needed to go to the end of the other line. I go to the end of the other line. I hear, "This cash register is closed, please see the register at the end of the counter." Back where I started. She snatched--literally snatched--my two dollars, gave me my whatever change. No thank you. No sorry I led you astray in this already small store. Nothing. I'm not sure the winning is worth it.

Marcella G.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. But every time I shop there I walk out feeling like a sucker! Red peppers $9.99/lb...really? Their cheese and meat selection is worth the price, but leave everything else on the shelf and save your self esteem. UPDATE: Since I wrote this, the owner wrote to me personally and said that the pricing on the peppers was a mistake on their part and that it should be 6.99/lb. Still expensive but not offensive. Plus, I appreciate the acknowledgment. Mission accomplished greene grape! I will probably shop there again.

Mike E.

Yelp
Some of the stuff there is nice, but it's OUTRAGEOUSly expensive. Their markups are literally 100% on the one item for which I have actual knowledge (the local honey). The prices are to the point where I only buy anything if I'm over-the-barrel desperate for it right then. Which is too bad. I wanted to like this place. I wish they'd try pricing their items at reasonable levels, and make it up in volume. I'd certainly spend 10x what I do there if the prices weren't so ridiculous.

D C.

Yelp
I have to chime in about the prices. I paid $42 for a pumpkin pie (price wasn't on the packaging, and I found out at the register.) The crust resembled Graham cracker crumbs, and I had expected something truly special for that price point. It was edible but forgettable except for the price I paid!

Morgen B.

Yelp
Adequate selection and the prices are what you would expect for Ft. Greene. The line seemed long because of the organization of the store and how crowded the cashier's area and door can become, but it goes by relatively quickly. I ordered a hot chocolate here but disliked it because I didn't know it was made with soy milk. That should be noted somewhere. If it is, I apologize for overlooking it. I like how they have an area outside to sit on benches and people watch while you eat your baked good etc. but that is maybe the only plus for this store. The prices are expensive. Unless you are looking for a specialty item or in a bind because of time, I would try to find a less niche marketplace.

Pritha R.

Yelp
Recently I popped into Green Grape with a sick friend who lives around the corner. I forcibly took her shopping so she would eat something other than cups of Thera-Flu and Doritos. Yes: that bad. She picked up a few things and as we waited at the checkout, for the cashier to take a break on snacking on the tortilla chips/guacamole spread set up to promote a new product to Provision shoppers -- YEP: the cashier put us hold until he sated his snack fix. Is it me or is that all sorts of "NO, YOU DI'INT?!?!?!" Listen, it's not because I don't think snacks should be shared. They should. Employees should eat new products because then they can preach, appropriately. But psssssssssst: Provisions! Just letting you know that your customers might like a favor: please consider hiring employees that haven't graduated from Entitlement Academy and Who Gives an Eff? at The Learning Annex. So that when in line to buy something from your shop, the sale actually happens on wallet time, not cashier snack time. Thoughts?

Kana D.

Yelp
Pricy place that is cash only. That's bad combo. 15 cent discount if you bring your own bag. Wow really!? But the sandwiches here are amazing and melt in your mouth.. They will toast it for you if you ask them. And of course, the eleven dollar ice cream!!! Jeni's splendid ice creams... It's fabulous stuff from Ohio. Who knew ice cream that taste like olive oil could be so good? They have other funky flavors too. You should definitely try it if you haven't already. They also have great coffee here. When you don't feel like getting conneticut muffin coffee, you should come here. Some negatives... 1. Sometimes the people at the counter have a bit of an attitude. I understand you guys work long hours and all.. but hey i do too. But some of the employees are very sweet. :) 2. Also I got really sick here once after eating their soup but I keep going back for the sandwiches.

Callie R.

Yelp
Six words: THEY CARRY JENI'S SPLENDID ICE CREAM!!!! Okay, and a few more words might help as well... I love this little corner shop. We've had great luck here with grabbing cheese, olives, and enough charcuterie to get the meat sweats. And the carry Sessions beer--both kinds. It's the little bottle that looks like Red Stripe, but is much better than that Jamaican dribble. But seriously, look at the first thing I wrote.

Ryan T.

Yelp
Doing a great job with delivery right now. Really appreciate what they're doing.
