Restaurant Gheni

That was amazing very high end dinner. Service is on the top of expectations. Luckily we had a chance to taste a new menu. The dish of the evening for us - Ravioi with figs and covered with cacao beans sauce. The classy food as beef tar-tar was also good. If I would be in Venice one more time definitely will come back to Gheni. Thank you for the soulful and memorable evening!

To be fair, we had very high expectations due to the many good reviews and as Belgians we are spoiled when it comes to food. Sadly, the expectations were not met when the food was served. We ordered the tasting menu. The starters were nice and so was the cloud egg, but the other dishes lacked seasoning and cohesion. The man serving our dinner was very friendly and cheerful so he made up for a lot of it. However, some mistakes were made regarding the wine (we were served a bottle almost twice as expensive as the one we ordered), a bottle of water was charged extra and empty glasses weren’t taken away. We did pay the more expensive bottle of wine but were each offered an extra glass of digestif to compensate, which was a nice thing to do. Nice setting, there’s definitely potential as the chef is displaying some nice techniques in his dishes and I’m not saying you shouldn’t go, but stating they’re close to a Michelin Star is to my opinion overselling it. At least for the situation today. I do believe they can grow.

We recently visited this restaurant and were thoroughly impressed. The ambiance is incredibly cozy, and each plate is a work of art. The way each course is introduced adds an element of surprise and delight, making the dining experience not just a meal, but an event. I sincerely hope that this restaurant earns a Michelin star in the near future; it certainly deserves one for its creativity, quality, and the sheer joy it brings to its guests.

My advice: eat here before it becomes a Michelin star restaurant and you can’t find a table. I cannot express enough how good this place is. It’s upscale and honestly reasonable priced for the quality. It’s not inexpensive, but the price is VERY much worth the cost. The tiramisu almost brought tears to my eyes. The scallops were also amazing. But above all, the service was 5 star. The servers went out of their way to make us feel welcome and not pushy at all. My only regret is not finding this place earlier in my trip. Truly the best food I’ve had since I’ve been here.

An excellent restaurant with very reasonable prices considering the quality of the food and service. There is a lovely terrace area in the back where you can listen to soft music, catch glimpses of the magic happening in the kitchen. Service was impeccable, and the wine list excellent. Don’t let the artistic presentation suggest the portions are small — you will not leave hungry! For 50€ I had what’s in the pictures, plus two glasses of wine, a coffee, and digestive.

We had a fantastic tasting afternoon in gheni! The staff were all so kind, full filling our every need and making the whole experience a true culinary journey! We ordered the degustation menu. The food was delicious! The highlights of the night were the poached egg with the Parmesan cream and truffle and the fusiloni with the lamb ragout. Absolutely stunning dishes exploding in your mouth and the chosen wines made it even better! We would definitely recommended this place for your own tasting journey in Venice

Excellent staff, excellent service, lovely atmosphere, but sadly, I must say the food was quite lacking in flavor. Everything was underseasoned, no salt. Not sure if it is due to the new menu or not. The tangerine panna cotta also had the texture of a cheesecake rather than a pudding, and had no distinguishable tangerine flavor.

We had the tasting menu and it was a good value for the quality of the food. Food was creative and tasty. Waiter and staff were really nice and provided great service. Wine pairing was spot on for the food and we really enjoyed the meal. Well worth a visit.
