"It’s impossible to miss the electric green exterior of Fred 62. It’s a familiar Los Feliz sight on Vermont Avenue for 25 years and counting, with an incredibly relaxed and easy breakfast menu of Denver omelets, steak and eggs, and breakfast enchiladas. Fred 62 works for late-night revelers and early morning breakfast seekers alike." - Cathy Chaplin, Eater Staff
"In reality, most of Fred 62’s diner food is best eaten late at night after several rounds of drinks. Their desserts, however, should be eaten whenever you want. Whether it’s a brownie sundae or any of their tremendous malts and shakes, Fred 62’s desserts will give you that soothing sense of nostalgia we all need right now. Takeout and delivery available daily from 9am-11:30pm." - brant cox
"Some of the places on this list have food that tastes good no matter where you fall on the sobriety scale. Fred 62 is not one of them. This classic Los Feliz diner is where you go when it’s 3am, you just shut down Ye Rustic, and you need something in your stomach if you have any hope of being functional tomorrow. Our order is usually the Juicy Lucy, a peanut butter malt shake, and the largest basket of fries the waiter can carry." - brant cox
"Greetings from our favorite Eastside drunk food diner. Admittedly, Fred's food is just fine while you're sober, but after a few too many beers, it reaches levels of spectacular. Breakfast sandwich? Jucy Lucy? Peanut Butter Malt Shake? Yes, to all. The atmosphere is retro and not in the Mel's Diner type of way that makes you die inside. Fred's your friend who always has your back—until 1am on weekdays and 3am on the weekends. Underrated date idea: watch a movie at the Los Feliz 3 and head here for a late-night meal afterward." - brant cox, arden shore, nikko duren, sylvio martins, garrett snyder
"This retro-inspired Los Feliz diner goes strong every night until 1am (or until 3am on the weekends) with a healthy mix of post-movie dates, neighborhood insomniacs, and excitable musical theater kids who just got out of a late rehearsal. Even by diner standards, the menu is encyclopedic—you’ll find everything from pan pizza to all-day breakfast to chicken enchiladas. Is it great? No, but it does hit the spot when it’s 2:15am and you just closed down Ye Rustic Inn. Our standard order is a patty melt, a peanut butter malt shake, and the largest basket of fries the waiter can carry." - Brant Cox
