Folkehuset Absalon

Absalon is a one-of-a-kind community space in Copenhagen! Originally an old church, it has been transformed into a vibrant "folk house" with no religious ties—just a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It’s a place where locals gather for various communal activities, and the vibe is always fun and inviting. I was there for a community dinner with two friends—it was budget friendly, tasty, and a great way to meet new people. Whether you're looking for good company, game night, or a wide variety of affordable activities, Absalon is definitely worth a visit.

What a great idea for communal feeds! Book well in advance, as there was no time for me to get dinner within the fortnight. Instead, I dropped by for lunch. Loved it!

What a great experience!!! It was amazing to sit down with people we didn’t know and enjoyed a great meal with strangers. Very organized, Súper reasonable priced and good homemade food! If I’m in Copenhagen again, this is a must stop!!!

Great place and idea behind it, however due to bad service cannot be enjoyed entirely. I tried communal dinner which was pretty alright as taste and people around were friendly , despite a monologue of irrelevant jokes from the staff that takes nearly 15 minutes Today I am back from painting workshop and I was surprised how unwilling was the person leading it, beginning with the warning that paintings will be thrown if not collected, not showing any presence during the workshop , and making the whole joy of the activity a bit forced . The feeling of workshop experience and the painting process that is creative and valuable was not a case . It felt that the person leading is being kept against her own will in there, just waiting for us to leave / grumpy that we made a mess. I still recommend the place but I warn people to be patient with the service

Nice place to get together in large groups, there is a play for the table tennis and cheaper food and drinks. Good atmosphere so that you can find different people to talk and maybe meet when you’re sitting in the long table together. Friendly atmosphere ✌🏻 check the upstairs definitely

Lovely experience! Lunch is served from 12 until 3pm or when sold out. It s one choice of a dish for 60dkk very nice tasty food

The meal I had at Absalon was the heartiest meal I had in Denmark, as well as the most interesting dining experience. The food was delicious, plentiful, and cheap (50 kroner, or about $8 USD), but the real draw of the dinners here is the deliberately communal seating. Everyone is put at a table with strangers, and food is served family-style. (As American tourists, my partner and I don't speak Danish, so the staff kindly made sure to seat us with other tourists and expats.) We had lovely conversations about art and politics over a meal of homemade roasted chicken stuffed with hummus, as well as salad, potatoes, wine, cake, and pudding. There is a small bar in the back, as well as board games to play. I wish I had discovered Absalon sooner, because the other events all seem lovely: yoga, movies, flea markets, bingo... it's truly a lovely community space.

Awesome! Best place for both locals, and for people visting the Real Copenhagen. Open 7:00 AM - midnight (2 AM friday and saturday) Crazy Party in the weekends, breakfeast, lunch and dinner 50kr every Day. ticket sale at 17:00, cozy, local, yoga, dancing, tango, swing dance, ballet, Bingo, Music Bingo international, croquis, bridge, Cinema, backammon, TABLE TENNIS, great people, flea Market, vinyl market, meet people, bottle Wine 100kr (cava, red, White) This place has everything. And changes a lot. Sometimes filled with toddlers other times with +50 year old men playing backgammon or Girls dancing On the tables to beyonce Bingo or funk parties. Have a chat with the hosts/employees or Guests if you are confused or just if you want to say hi. (Sunday dinner (and saturday) is often more chill whereas all other days is more lively/busy) (People Call it "Your extended Living room") From local guy
