"I love Foodtown. It’s where I feel most grounded. Lately their ice-cream situation has been a real shambles — there will always be pints covered with ice and frost, and you know they’ve been through a couple of thaw-and-refreeze cycles — and the fruit is overpriced and sometimes the music truly makes me want to die, but it is still one of my favorite places in my neighborhood, if not the world."

I’ve been shopping at Ferreira Foodtown for years, and they never disappoint. The staff is incredibly helpful, the store is always clean, and they have a great selection of fresh produce, meats, and international items. It’s a one-stop shop for everything my family needs

Patsy Kaler

Google
Shopping here is a breeze. The store is well-organized, the prices are fair, and they always have unique items you can’t find elsewhere. The staff is attentive and goes out of their way to assist you. It’s a pleasure every time I visit.

Prices are extremely high and this is the condition of their produce/food items. Would not recommend, but there aren’t enough convenient supermarket options otherwise.

One of the most convenient locations to shop late after work was this Super Market. Prices were high considering others locations nearby, but as a Native New Yorker, we know we have to pay the price of a convenient location. As I finished my usual light grocery on Friday nights around 10:30pm. I decided I wanted some chicken broth to make some hearty homemade soup over the weekend. When I approached the isle, I see that all the broth were mostly organic, and grabbed the newly stocked chicken broth from a price listed $4.99. Clearly it stated natural chicken broth on the price tag. I proceeded to pay on the self check-out registers. When I scanned the item, the item scanned $7.99 price. I then called for assistance, and the lady that came to assist me, looked at the item, and said…”Oh this is organic, therefore is 7.99.” I let her know that all the Organic Chicken Broth were under the price $4.99 on the label posted on the shelf. She them proceeded to call a Middle age Latino Manager, that clearly answer her in front of me, “they not $4.99, they are $7.99.” I said to her, to walk with me to the isle where they were newly stocked, and she was able to see that they did stocked them on the $4.99 listed label. We walked back to the register's and she let him know they were on the wrong shelf. He then told her, without addressing me or not even apologizing for the inconvenience, and explained to her very unprofessional the following story: “That must be the new guy that stocked them on the wrong shelf, you (referring to me) should’ve read the label.” Which I thought that was really unprofessional and not a great costumer service demeanor towards a long time member of the Supermarket. I looked at him, and told him the label clearly said Natural Chicken Broth for $4.99, and that it wasn’t my fault they were priced wrong. Instead of accommodating the customer for a mistake they clearly made, he simply said $7.99 is the price, period. I worked in customer service, and I felt that my loyalty and membership to this supermarket for the last 3 years was not important to this Supermarket. I was going to spend my usual $50-100 dollars weekly worth on groceries that clearly they didn’t really care to loose. I walked away very disappointed and dissatisfied with the Manager’s reaction, and I did told him that I can go and spend my money to another supermarket. For the high price we currently paying for basic groceries in NYC, it’s not worth to spend your money where you’ll get treated so poorly and they rather loose a valuable and loyal customer, over a $2.00 dollars price adjustment. Hope you make a choice where they will value your business. CL 9/27/2024.

As someone who loves cooking, I appreciate the variety of fresh produce and specialty items here. The staff always makes me feel at home, and the prices are great

Today I experienced an encounter with one of the cashiers at self checkout. I understand maybe she had a bad day, but that doesn’t give her the right to treat me the way she did well I was scanning my stuff. She took the cart away from me and pushed it away. Before her doing that I was asking her for help but it’s felt like if she did not want to help me like if I was bothering her. I only go to this location if I need something but after today, I am never coming to this location anymore and I’m taking my business to Ctown which is a couple of blocks down.

Worst Grocery Store Experience I recently visited this grocery store, and I have to say it was one of the worst experiences I've had. Upon walking in, I wanted to check the fruit section, but everything looked old and unappealing, so I decided to leave. As I was walking out, a security guard, who seemed ill-equipped for the role, stopped me to check my bags. I explained that I hadn’t purchased anything, but he insisted I open everything as if I had stolen something. This was completely unnecessary and made me feel uncomfortable. There should be a clear distinction between legitimate security measures and treating customers like criminals. Overall, this store wasted my time and created an unnecessarily dramatic situation. I won't be returning.

Google
Updating from 5 to 4 stars. I've been coming here since I moved to the neighborhood 4 years ago and overall it's a great place to shop (variety, foreign items, etc). After they remodeled, it seems like prices have gone up DRASTICALLY. You know it's bad when the Kirby cucumbers are 2 for $3.....that's wiiild. At Food Bazaar I can buy A WHOLE BAG of Kirby cucumbers for less than $3. I'm still shopping here but am more selective with what I buy these days.

Yelp
They put flowers outside and water them in winter. Water turned icy on sidewalk. 2 people slipped, including me and I wore a white jacket.I hope they'd get a lawsuit very soon

Yelp
I love that Ferreira offers a good selection of organic, gluten free, and egg free items for my kid with food sensitivities. Please keep stocking on items such as Just Egg and Cooked Perfect gluten free meatballs. If you can please stock up on some gluten free ready-bake lasagna sheets, we would appreciate this! We currently have to go to Whole Foods or the Organic Supermarket on 85th to pick them up and would love to be able to pick all our groceries up at Ferreira. Thank you!

Yelp
responding to owner's comment - the expired bacon is still there 24 hours after I told an employee. Nothing will change.

Yelp
The cashier named Barbara charged me with an item I didn't purchase and this happened twice already the first one I was charged with 2 items I didn't buy. I spoke with the manager named Noe and Juan Pablo but they didn't care about it. So, be careful check your receipt before going home

Yelp
I want to compliment Foodtown on always improving their products and the layout of the store. I don't know who makes their bagels but they're the best bagels in Jackson Heights. They're light, moist and have a lot of flavor. The guy at the cold cuts counter always makes sure he carries Land O Lakes white American cheese. And he slices it thin - just the way I like it. I guess their beer collection seems to be very popular because they just relocated it near the dairy section. I noticed they carry Allagash White but they should carry Allagash Curieux. It's a Belgian beer aged in bourbon barrels. I don't usually like beer but my brother had some so I tried it. The flavor is amazing! AND they also carry my favorite tea. Twining's English Breakfast Extra Bold. So thank you for putting in the extra care!!

Dee C.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this store lol bcus they sell old dates items . I have found mold of cheese in this store. Several of the item are not restock and poor organization. The cashier takes anyone off line while ppl are waiting patiently on the line. Need to restock with new dates on the shelves and better customer service.

Yelp
Bait & Switch! My wife and I have been attempting to purchase an item at the price advertised in their flyer. It was out of stock. Each time we had to wait to speak to the manager and each time we were told to return the next day when the item would be in stock. We have been back twice - the item wasn't in stock. I asked for a rain check. The manager told us they don't do rain checks and to come back again. I told the manager that we would go to another store. His response was "OK go to another store. No attempt at an apology for making us come back. This has been happening with other advertised items. I should mention that the current managers are new - not the people we have been dealing with for the past 6 years. We are elderly and my wife is disabled. It is difficult for us to keep returning. The previous managers were always very accommodating and always provided rain checks.

Yelp
Nice supermarket variety of products good sales! In the weekly flier also special sales on line

Yelp
Y'all crazy with such low ratings!!The main manger in charge is absolutely amazing! Same goes for the friendly staff! Especially with the new managers in charge (the old mangers were absolutely lazy and would always catch them on their cellphones)it's amazing with the progress Food town has made especially with the new installments! ESPECIALLY LOVE THE NEW FLOWER STATION UP FRONT!! They always keep improving the store and especially the customer service keeps improving( would be great to have friendlier cashiers, why so serious ?,sour puss) I don't shop here often but WHEN I DO???? There's always something new! I look forward into my next trip Cheers!!!

Yelp
June 10, numerous elderly customers not wearing mask properly! Man shopping with no mask. A vendor no mask. As well as an employee not wearing the mask properly. I do not like wearing a mask myself. But this is the only way to protect yourself and others from spreading the virus. Especially in Jackson Heights the heart of the epicenter. Please management wearing a mask and properly should be mandatory! When inside a public place where the spreading of this airborne virus is more contagious! Unfortunately all staff needs to be the mask police! For the safety of all your customers. I informed the manager twice and told people they r not wearing their mask correctly. Please everyone wear your mask correctly when in a public space! It is up to us to combat this virus. You are being very selfish and putting everyone you come in contact with in danger when you don't wear the mask correctly or not at all! Thank you!!!

Yelp
At approximately 10am on Friday April 2 I entered the Foodtown at 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights, Queens. After realizing the store did not have the product I wanted, I exited the store and waved hello to one of the employees. As I walked down the street I heard a whistle and turned back to see the manager of the store waving for me to stop. I kept walking because I was running late for work. He then followed me around the corner to 76th street asking me to stop. I stopped and asked what he wanted. He said he wanted to check my shopping bag because I walked out of the store through one of the aisles. I told him I walked out because they didn't have what I wanted and that he could not check my bag. I told him I didn't wanted to be accused of anything because I am a loyal shopper for the last 6 years. I also told him I know the checkout staff as well as him and the other manager named Leo. He repeatedly said he had a right to check my shopping bag. I told him he did not have right because the bag is my property. At least four times he demanded to inspect my  shopping bag. Eventually I walked away. As a local resident of Jackson Heights and frequent shopper of Foodtown, Jackson Heights for almost 7 years I am deeply upset, embarrassed  and insulted. I am a proud and supportive member of my community and treat all my neighbors and shop owners with respect and kindness. As mentioned, I always say hello to staff at Foodtown and even check in on how people are managing through the pandemic. Being accused of shoplifting and being chased down the street and confronted in public was absolutely humiliating. I told the manager immediately that I am a loyal shopper and that I know the staff including him - thinking that perhaps he would recognize me and let me go on my way. Instead, he persisted his abuse by demanding to examine my property. At one point he lifted his cellphone as if to call the police. If customers can be harassed and abused in the street for no reason this is critical breakdown of any understanding of customer service or common sense for that matter. Sadly, this supermarket has been sorely lacking in basic customer service, sensible Covid safety/procedures, store cleanliness and the labelling and availability of basic items. When the manager told me I would be arrested if I came back into the store it was the best reason ever to not return to a substandard retail operation. I can't see it lasting much longer under current management.

Yelp
**- Covid, Social Distancing Edition -** Normally, I am reasonably satisfied to shop at FF. Sure, they are frequently out of the sale items. But they will provide a raincheck pretty quickly. They remember their regulars and will toss a smile or nod over to us.I think it's great that they created earlier Senior Hours during this pandemic. Only prob: none of the shelves were stocked. We went on Tuesday morning, expecting the weekend rush would have been dealt with by then. But no, there was practically nothing stocked! Do they think we elderly, who are so vulnerable, have the wherewithal to show up every morning to see what came in? We waited 2 weeks from our last shop to come in this morning at 8am. There was a line of 40 ppl to check out (when you're only supposed to have 10 ppl in the store at a time). They had only 1 cashier and 1 guy standing near the self-check out. The line crawled! Old folks don't like to use self-check out - and i usually don't like to either in protest of job eliminations - but I made the exception this morning. I only got maybe 6 of the 20 items we needed. Don't know what's happening with the supply chain! The mgr said the trucks come every day, but they don't have any idea what will arrive. Now I understand why they haven't added more staff to provide a decent delivery service in this very trying time... There isn't any product to sell or deliver!! Sadly, it's getting harder and harder to find the things we need as this pandemic goes on. Where is the food? where are our first aid items? TOILET PAPER?

Yelp
every one that works there are professionals and are always willing to help its a pleasant place to shop Jazmen rules

Yelp
Have been going there for years. They now have security. They stand by the door. If they see someone suspicious and/or Black they start making rounds until the person is at check out. Then they grab the baskets and go back to the door. This has happened to me too, too often there to think it's a coincidence, so today will be my last visit. Hopefully no more grocery emergencies!! When I saw him pass me for the 3rd time , I knew something was up. I hope they act that same way to the Whites, Latinos and Bangladesh ppl because it's REALLY discriminatory behavior. I've never felt so unwelcome at a store in my life. I go there 2-3 times per week and am recognized by the cashiers. I've never stolen from a store and just because I'm Black and have a gym bag (because I just came from the gym), doesn't mean I'm going to steal. I'd complain to the manager but I don't think anyone would even care. But they need to get their security in check. There has to be a better way to catch thieves without following black people (and other suspicious ppl) around the store. This isn't the 1990s.

Yelp
Supermarket is ok good fresh rolls and bread every day. Young man at self checkout on weekday evening is super nice and polite he always helps when I have an issue with check out process. Only issue for me is that they don't carry a lot of lactose free items yogurt selection in particular. Minimal selection almost none They need a lot more variety.

Christian R.

Yelp
I like coming here for the basics: milk, eggs, meats, bread and some sweets. It's helpful when I don't want to spend a fortune at the Downtown Market a few blocks up. They do have a very good produce section as well as dairy items. The meat section sometimes smells atrocious. For the most part, however, they're reliable. What's really missing is a sense of cleanliness, orderliness and less chaos at the front check out. It's over-crowded at ALL hours. And there are almost no cashiers available - long lines, annoying wait times. And self-check out lines being almost non-functional. People either don't know what self check-out means as they scratch their heads in bewilderment while people waiting in line get impatient or there are tech glitches in the system. It will take a few minutes to get the attention of the tired supervisor to fix the issue. The staff is nice though. Smiling helps. And sometimes that's all it takes to make a stressful situation better.

Yelp
Man all these 3-2-1 star reviews are tripping balls this place is pretty damn good, they got discounts that got me felling some type of way.

Yelp
My mother has been shopping at this supermarket for about 13 years. Yesterday she went and was accused of stealing. I understand they have to do their job about theft however what I don't understand is how you humiliate a person without any assurance you have the thief. They completely humiliated my mother, accused her of stealing and threatened to call the police. My mother was so confused as she had paid and had receipts for her items. She told them to check her items and her receipt and they stated no because they were certain it was her given surveillance. She asked to see surveillance and told them to call the police. They showed her a photo of a woman from the same day just minutes earlier. The woman was wearing an entire different outfit and obviously wasn't my mother. My mother at this point was upset and crying. They apologized and quite frankly didn't know what to do since they had humiliated my mother in front of the entire store. Like I said, I understand they have to do their job but DO IT RIGHT. This interaction happened in Spanish so luckily my mother was able to defend herself but if it happened in English then that might've not been the case and could've quickly escalated to something worse.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
This store is always well stocked...staff has always been pretty decent for the most part. Self checkout is seamless Produce is fresh Good meat selection .

Jane L.

Yelp
Good selection of grocery, produce and deli area. The aisles are narrow and watch out for on coming traffic with the carts. This is a high traffic supermarket. -Be prepared to circle around neighborhood to find a parking spot. Metered parking outside of the store. -Check cash register receipts, scanners will miss sale prices -Heavy foot traffic in this store This supermarket has been here for the longest time. Lots of eateries and local businesses on the strip of 37th Avenue. Walk two blocks towards 78th street you will see the post office.

Yelp
Dear Jason F, Thank you for your response to my review of the Jackson Heights Foodtown from 2014(!). Over the past 4 years there have been many changes to the store which was Met. Assuming your request for feedback is genuine, I would have to say that the biggest areas currently which make this Foodtown unpleasant to shop at include the following: * Marked food prices very high for the neighborhood. Many items are 50c to $1 higher than at other shops. The non-sale prices here are comparable to Manhattan. In fact, I find things cheaper in Manhattan and now do much of my shopping there, carrying food home on the subway rather than feeling that I've been ripped-off at Foodtown. * Many items no longer available or inconsistently available. For example Nabisco ginger snaps. * Poor quality fruits and vegetables. * Aggressive and surly security guard. He never bothers me, but I can see how he might make some people nervous. Definitely not a friendly shopping environment. The improvements to the store include: * Marginally cleaner than before * Newer display shelving (I ripped a shirt on a sharp edge at the checkout aisle at Met) Hope this is helpful to you. A. S.

Yelp
I find the staff here not friendly and they choose to not speak English even when you ask for their help. They choose to not speak English so they can talk about you in front of you (including the upper management), which is just terrible customer service. Also, considering English is the primary language in the United States of America they should probably make it the language they speak around customers. This should not be a surprise as language barriers exist and is to occur more especially when the staff chooses to not speak the primary language, ENGLISH. The issue with not speaking the primary language becomes not only a language barrier but a lost in translation for communication. To not implement this to your staff is causing a disservice not only to your staff and company, but to your customers. Additionally, the staff constantly chooses not to help you and even avoid you or try to make you think you're wrong when you're literally repeating to them word for word what they told you a week or so ago. They are just completely rude and I feel like why continue to spend money in a place filled with terrible customer service when you're literally helping them get paid to do their job. To top it off, I bought a drink here opened the cap to only find the seal that is placed inside was already open. Is this what they are selling these days already opened drinks?! Idk, there's so many issues with this place. Like why don't they use an input of phone numbers in the machines for the savings card like other stores. Why do they always deactivate your savings card(check your receipts)? Why is it always disorganized (check the prices on your receipts and compare to price stated on shelf)? Why are the prices not clear and difficult to distinguish from another (there is no space between prices)? Why do the workers here choose not to speak English when the population in the area is mixed. Why does the staff lack the diversity in all areas of this store? This store doesn't enforce staff to speak English and as a result has caused the staff to treat the place as if they were just back in their native country. The lack of diversity in staff is why the language spoken here is not English. I literally watched A COUPLE, years ago tell them they don't speak the language they are speaking, "can you speak English?" and they continued to speak in their native tongue. This has been going on for years with little to no change in how they interact with customers. I still remember when one of their staff was hired (years ago) and she admitted to not speaking English. Years later, she still does not speak English. Also, again, why do they have opened drinks sold on shelf?! I also found plenty of broken eggs being sold (check eggs before buying). You should check before buying anything here or maybe just go else where because their customer service is not worth stressing simple things that are offered in other supermarkets that do speak English. They have a couple of great supermarkets/small business grocery stores in the area that's friendlier and the prices are actually more affordable. Do not buy produce/drinks here unless you want to risk getting ill or paying more than you should since their prices are congested so you don't know what goes with what. Shop around in the area and if you must go here, check everything but I highly recommend not buying all your groceries here unless you want to pay more than you planned. Ways foodtown can improve: 1. Require staff to speak primary language, English. If they want to speak their native tongue that should be done outside of their workplace as it's really inappropriate and causes a lost in translation. Also, they should be helpful and preferably kind. 2. Stop trying to sell too many things you can't fit in your small narrow shelves. Your store is not an amazon warehouse nor is it the size of Costco. It's small, accept it. Provide the best and most sold items if you're trying to figure out how to cut down. 3. Make ALL your prices CLEAR. The elderly and all ages shop here, no one should have a hard time trying to figure out which goes with what item. Stop making the shelves congested. 4. Do your best to check what you're selling, expiration dates, outdated prices, outdated deals, broken eggs, old produce, and OPENED drinks(one should not have to come home and find it was open).

Yelp
My last review on this place was a little vague and harsh so I decided to update it. Pros: Solid produce section, reasonably priced fish counter with passable selection. Cons: Crowds, very long lines, meat section is not great, and prices are generally high. It's better than C-town and produce is better than across the street at food dynasty. Being that there is no real stand-out high quality supermarket in the area I often shop here but there is significant room for improvement.

Yelp
I'm buying in this location for years, and it slowly goes down and looks a little more appealing ( I don't care that much). If I remember correctly it was MetFood before. Now I have more problems. I'll give you some examples: 1. Grapes. Location changed recently from the 'counter' to the shelves. Now the prices are basically invisible or impossible to identify. Prices for 'regular' grapes are conveniently hanging over organic ones so it happens very often (if not paying a lot of attention) that I buy organic which are 1-2$ more per pound. 2. Smoked salmon. Most of the Norwegian salmon produced in Greece - no dates (use by) marked on the packages. I think especially in case of fish it is a big problem. 3. Price labels (smoked fish) stuck on the side of display case - no way to identify, to which product they belong. It is a small wall with more than 30 stickers. 4. 'Fresh Salmon' and other fish in the fridge - missing most prices on display, for example salmon (organic) from New Zealand, which is about double the price. 5. Eggs. Most of the Organic/Cage Free/Free range - really hard to identify and associate with price. Inexpensive eggs sort of hidden. I'm talking about regular eggs below 2$ per dozen or below 1$ for six-pack brown. As in the case of fish prices there are stickers on the side - about 30 unreadable labels. 6. Spices - in two places, so you have yo know what you are looking for. GOYA spices (less expensive) are in different section. 7. Recently I bought canned sardines 5 months over expiration date. 8. Canned fruit. There is a lot of 'Foodtown' branded cans with very short expiration dates. I wonder why. I guess instead of posting here I should check Food Dynasty or Mi Tierra Supermarket.

Yelp
July 8, 2020 -- As usual, Leo - the alleged manager on 37th Ave in Jackson Heights - doesn't have a clue that there is a dog in the place until I tell him. Every dog ever spotted in the place over the last three years had to be pointed out to Leo. When he approached the women, they produced this "service dog" card, and it is obvious that anyone - I mean *anyone* -- can buy that card off the internet for $60. The dog wasn't a service dog, it was a "therapy dog," which is also nonsense. And the two women weren't wearing masks. Leo didn't notice, didn't care about that either. Count on Leo to notice absolutely nothing except what Jason and the boys upstairs tell him to notice - those cash registers ringing. And the sales items continue to not show up on the cash registers frequently. That's been true for years. Who is in charge? It certainly isn't Leo. It has never been Leo.

Yelp
This place has come a long way in the past few years. The staff is very helpful and cashiers are speedy & accurate. The deli counter staff is quick & efficient - hardest working crew in JH! The vegetarian/meatless selection can be variable though - sometimes a good selection of Marinated tofu, other times none. Great selection of craft beers and efficient delivery service.!

Yelp
I have been shopping at Foodtown for the last couple of years. In recent months it seems like the quality has declined sharply. I find myself coming far less often. As others have said, the store is mobbed at times. This means that people end up in lines all over the place. The self check out line is especially bad and often snakes through the other lines for the cashiers. I like the selection of the produce, but have seen the quality change. On my most recent trip I bought tomatoes and clementines that were absolutely tasteless. Some of the clementines were rotting and had turned black. Considering how expensive non sale produce can be at this store, this seems like its just wrong. I have also noticed more expired items throughout the store. I understand that items go bad in a big store, but I should not find multiple expired items on every trip. I am actually most disappointed by the decline in the fish department. The gentleman who generally works there (I was last in on 3/5 around 6:30pm) is horrible. I requested a half pound piece of fish. He just grabbed what was in the case which was almost 1.5 pounds! I repeated my request for a half pound and was given .75 pounds. When I got home, the fish smelled slightly off. Yuck! I understand I won't get exactly the measurement I requested, but the person in the fish department always gives me way too much fish with a side of unpleasant attitude. This means that I have too much food and often end up wasting it. It also feels like the employee is increasing profits on purpose. During the recent labor strike the employees in the red jackets did a better job of weighing the fish, even though this is not their department. On the bright side, the staff at the front in the red jackets are extremely nice and polite. They work hard to help when need arises and try to keep the lines moving quickly. The manager with the goatee is also very nice and hard working.

Yelp
For your staples, this place is more than sufficient, and there are plenty of items you'd find at Whole Foods (or its JH equivalent, Downtown Natural Market) here. My first time here was regrettably on a Wednesday, which left a skewed impression since it was Senior Citizens Day where Seniors benefitted from a 10% discount. No disrespect, but I prefer not to be run over several times by the local seniors shuffling around their shopping carts. I usually avoid the traditional checkouts and just go to the self-check out, mostly to avoid the hassle of local geriatrics plug up the conveyor belt with months' supplies of cat food (yes). Otherwise, no complaints. This is a super market.

Yelp
How I loathe this place. Crappy everything: service, produce, meats and organization. For the love of god, please send in a decent grocery store.

Yelp
Just moved here from Forest Hills and the prices are higher than the Foodtown there. The scary part was the Deli, the meats were all piled into a shopping cart that he would pull from. The cheeses were all piled on the counter. It was like hope you do not get sick from the way it is stored. Rest of the store, was nice and big, selection good, but I could not understand the prices. The lines moved quick since people had small purchases. The neighborhood is huge, why is the grocery selections so poor, off to try another store next week.

Yelp
What a dump this place has become since it was Metfood. Today is the 3rd time theyve screwed up my delivery, and like the first 2 times, they tell me all kind of lies (no one was home) even though i waited at home for delivery AND we have a doorman. Almost 9 hrs later and im still waiting for them to replace my lost order. Maybe best of all, the manager has underlings speak to angry customers rather than taking responsibility to build some goodwill with customers. In store ive also seen him be sarcastic and shrug his weak shoulders when they run out of goods. FYI, its not just me. All over my buildiing people complain about their deliveries and how far it slid from Metfood's quality. I'm done. In a neighborhhod with several markets, my money will go to ANY OTHER MARKET. Or to Fresh Dirct, whose prices are approaching Foodtown's but with rliable, scheduled deliveries. After all, Foodtown is mediocre at best - its often dirty, has the slowest deli, milks that too often sour before the sell-by date, and suspiciously soft ice cream. So why go there - out of habit?

Yelp
Not only do they allow customers without masks, the workers themselves (cashiers and food preparers) do not wear masks properly. a few times I purchased "fresh-squeezed" juice had already gone bad. No thank you.

Yelp
Tons of supermarkets in the neighborhood, but this one is the best. Though they have a horrible selection of fish and meats. Also one of the ladies that packs the bags is kinda sassy. I usually avoid her aisle. Ohhhh, and they are really good with deliveries!

Yelp
Pathetic service.the cashier is extremely slow. None of them speak any English and cater only to Spanish speaking customers. Even the person bagging the groceries just walked away and did not return to do her job while we were waiting. So ultimately we had to do it ourselves because even though there were enough employees around us..all of them looking around or on their pho es.None of them seemed to want to do their job .

Yelp
The man who is working RIGHT now JULY 6 at 2 PM, I dont even know what his damn job cause he wasn't doing anything at all just being useless and when I approached him for a complaint where I was clearly charged more for an item and literally pointed it out to him and took a picture of it and everything he brushed me off very rudely and still wouldn't charge me the right price for the item when I clearly read the label names. He deserves to get fired for stealing peoples money like that. Get better staff foodtown.

Yelp
The self checkout clerks are really helpful, and are on their game. Anytime Theres an issue, they're right there to help out. Great deals as well. This place has vastly improved.

Yelp
Had no issues with ordering online and picking up until today, wasted more than 45 minutes of my husband's time to only say that my order was cancelled, I received ZERO communication from the store regarding my order. He was told to go shop for the items himself, obviously if I wanted to shop in store, I wouldn't have completed and ONLINE ORDER. No apology, No answer on the store phone. NOTHING, with a million options for over priced foods in Queens. I will be finding another store to shop.

Yelp
I am writing about the terrible service at Foodtown in Jackson Heights. I believe they make it a point to discriminate against senior citizens. Senior discount days are Wednesday and Friday. If you make it a point to shop on Wednesday they are already out of everything on sale for that week. If you shop on Friday you're told come back tomorrow after the truck is unloaded. There sale ad changes every Friday but they never have sale items on Friday. I have been promised items would be there for weeks and they never arrive. Getting a rain check doesn't work because they never get the items. I have called the corporate headquarters in New Jersey and I get an answering machine. Big Red Flag!!!! Of course call was never returned. I also emailed, no answer. Foodtown just doesn't care. Jason F. of Foodtown Jackson Heights. You have had a 2 pound bag of great American seafood breaded, butterflied shrimp on sale in your ad for 8.99. I have tried at least 5 times to get them after being told to come back after 1 on a Friday, come back Saturday, I'll order you some from another store, etc. The last employee took a picture of the item in the ad and said he personally was going to order them immediately from another store. Several times I've offered to leave my name and phone number so they could call me when they come in but no one wants it. That leads me to believe no effort is being made to get it. I've also been looking for the mama Mancini meatballs on sale last week, when I ask I'm told we're not getting them. Perhaps the worst experience was with the center cut pork roast which was on sale in December for 1.99 lb. I went to buy one on December 17 and all that was in the cooler was 3 roasts with a last sell date of December 13. When I asked for a fresh one I was told that's all we've got. On several occasions I've shopped for produce that's on sale in your ad. The 3.99 or 4.99 organic green beans are there but when I ask for the .99 flat green beans in the ad I'm told we don't sell those at this store. So it doesn't matter if you have multiple senior days in a week if the store never gets the items. I've been told when shopping for produce that we don't have the item on sale but I'm directed to the organic produce which is three times as much.

Yelp
Why the new security guard followed me and my kids around the market is beyond me. Every time I looked up, he was there staring at us. We didnt come in with any bags so I dont know why he would think we would be stealing or up to no good. Guess it sucks being a minority in this neighborhood.

Yelp
This supermarket is easily the busiest market in the area. Customers are always flocking in cause the selections are plenty and quite fresh. The produces are always vibrant and priced competitively. The meats are fresh but a bit pricey. The loss leaders are usually the chicken which I tend to buy. Their seafood section is not much to speak off. Just skip that lol. Their dairy has just about everything. I always see the workers replenishing the aisles. Milk prices are reasonable. At the checkout each line is usually 3 deep, wait time was too long. They have workers there but they don't help bag. The self checkout is ok but people always look lost and ask for help.

Yelp
I like the workers here. They are nice and greet you too. I love Queens! I have bought a metal pot here and plenty of dairy products including milk and yogurt. I see they have an immense cleaning supply section. I notice they have a huge meat (chicken & beef section). I like their cold cuts, cut thinly and freshly stored and prepared. I come here often. There is also a rewards card program to get you a free turkey or ham or something vegetarian.

Yelp
Foodtown is a decent supermarket for the neighborhood. Jackson Heights does not have first rate stores and it shows in this store. The prices are high. The meat could be fresher. The fruit and vegetable section is good. All in all, it is what it is. The other reviews I have read here are accurate. They have different views which make up the whole of this store.

Yelp
Ive been coming here since it was still met foods. Still good. Organized reasonably priced. The downside of this place is the location. It is very difficult to find parking.

Yelp
I thought I lost my wallet in the produce section. The manager spent 15 minutes helping me look for it and ultimately let me take my groceries on credit. Turns out I left it at home. I'm massively embarrassed and also very grateful. They also have a very nice selection of food and have let me return a few things I wasn't happy with. Two thumbs up!

Yelp
Went in last night and had a terrible experience I will no longer be shopping here I ended up buying more then I thought I would and they still had plastic bags available my cashier was all out so I asked if it was okay if I took one from the cashier next to her and pointed at the bags the other cashier started to yell at me in Spanish that I couldn't just grab the bag which I didn't I pointed and she called me a thief and said that they needed to get rid of the bags but I wasn't allowed to grab one that if I wanted one I would have to buy a reusable bag while she had so many right there and couldn't give me a single bag I don't use plastic I always carry a bag on me but ended up buying more then I could carry never thought it would blow up that bad and that someone would call me a thief and yell at me a paying customer I asked for my cashier to point her manager out to me and the other cashier was so quick to hand over the bag I never complaint about things like that but this was ridiculous I spoke to the manager and hope something was done I felt embarrassed over a bag like who does that your all working for the same company it's not that hard to give me a bag

Yelp
I have been coming to this location since it was ShopWise supermarket. Even though the name changes a lot, it's run by the same people for years. This place has your typical supermarket items and remains consistent most of the times when it comes to selection. Most of the time I have a good experience here especially with the automated pay machines, but sometimes when I notice something is off and I point it out, its disappointing. I have found moldy bread loafs amongst the bread when choosing my bread of choice, and when I present it to a staff member(usually a manager) they thank me over and over again, but what they should be doing is apologizing to me for almost paying my hard eared money for bad food. Same goes with produce, point out something moldy or rotten and they thank you instead of apologizing and trying to rectify it.

Yelp
i have been a customer for the last 10 years, but i must say that i am very ,very upset at the seafood dept. i went there on tuesday april 16/209 to buy organic sslmon , there was none, the place was dirty and smelly, i went on the 17 early in the morning could not get the appropiate service....its a holy week and we all need fish for this week, it unbelievable that i got service when i returned at 3:30 pm, this community are avid fish consumers , they should have the fellow that use to be yhere in the morning....good service..product...and polite, pls. do something about this otherwise you will loose a lot of buss. thank you k.r.

Yelp
I started shopping here after the produce at Mi Tierra took a shark decline in quality. Overall, I find that the supermarket is well stocked and the prices are reasonable. However, the fish department here is horrible. I bought some cod that cost $20 only to get home and find that it is slimy with an unpleasant smell. Mi Tierra has a much better fish market and is always fresh.

Yelp
This place is horrible!!! Lines so long. I hate coming in this store it's only getting worse no organization total chaos. Stand on line people shoving into you to get past no one knows where lines end because so long. Sad because it's only store close to my house if you can shop elsewhere at any cost stay away from this crazy place unless you like to wait on lines mile long ( please don't have ice cream will be soup by time you you get to cashier) bring a book to read yes wait could be that long. Don't think about express line 10 items or less because that line tends to be longest and longer wait then regular lines!!!
