Yelp
Let me begin by saying I used to love this place, and I wish so badly I could give it at least 2 stars because it has SO much potential, but there is not a single positive word I can say about this place besides the restroom is clean. I went here for a date a few years prior and this hole-in-the-wall had left me pleasantly surprised. However, upon returning today, I had the worst experience.
When we arrived, we were not greeted and I had to greet the two workers first.
I had then asked for the only table with a couch to be cleaned since my partner and I both have back problems and a hard chair would be awful since we came to study for awhile. Both workers exchanged glances and one replied "ok", but it took 5 minutes for the girl to actually begin to walk over and clean the table. For context, the cafe was dead.
After she cleaned it, the girl left the tables on the couch and when I asked her if we could get the section done so we could sit, she told me to take the tables down myself and that it was available. What? I am a humble person, but this felt intentionally rude and lazy. It would have taken seconds to set them back down after sweeping. I dont know of any establishment that lraves tables upside down on top of furniture during open hours.
When we went to sit, there was still pieces of bread on the couch and in between the cushions, and coffee drips were stained on the tables.
We then ordered food. After all, the pastries are what we came for. We were so excited to have quality desserts and drove 50 minutes to come here! However, the mini tart pastry, as well as the ricotta stuffed beignet, were stale and hard. When I mentioned this to the girl, she replied that she had one earlier and it was fine. Besides the impoliteness of her comment, my experience was disregarded. On top of that, who would want to pay nearly $10 for "fine" pastries? She asked, "so do you want it refunded or what?", to which I said yes and while standing there waiting for my receipt, she walked away from me. After turning back around and realizing I'm still standing there, she asked if I wanted a receipt. "Yes please." She sighed, went under the cabinet, grabbed more receipt paper, refilled the machine, and the machine probably printed 20 tickets before mine came out. How many people did you skip giving receipts to?
After all of that, I asked for water with lemon. "We don't use lemon here. We don't use that here. Water is over there." And proceeded to point to the corner of the cafe. Lemon zest is on the menu... Tired of the back and forth, I went to get water. Please, I'm not kidding when I say it took SO LONG for my cup to fill up. The water container poured so...slow. It couldn't have been from poor pressure or low water level either, it was half full!
I wanted a good experience. I used to love this place!
At least the bathrooms are clean.
