This is by far the worst camera store experience I’ve had in Toronto. Even though they carry a wide selection of used cameras, the atmosphere and customer service completely ruined it for me. The owner consistently shows dismissive and unwelcoming behavior toward Black customers, while giving noticeably different treatment to others. It was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and extremely disappointing. One of the employees — the person pictured — mirrors the same energy. You can tell the staff walk on eggshells around the owner, almost like they’re scared to make a wrong move. To be fair, not every staff member here is rude; a few have tried to be helpful. But the overall environment created by the owner and his right-hand guy makes the entire place feel hostile and uninviting. The owner is constantly walking around with dual cameras strapped to him like he’s about to photograph a wedding at any moment, yet the service doesn’t match the image he tries to project. After multiple negative interactions, I can confidently say I will never spend another dollar here. If you want better service, better communication, and a more professional environment, I highly recommend going to Viztek or Henry’s. Both offer way better customer care, transparency, and respect. Save yourself the frustration — shop elsewhere.

This store blew my mind. I was shocked how many cameras and accessories they carry digital and film. I signed up as a member right away and purchased some great film stock. I highly recommend and can’t wait to return soon. Staff extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Total immersive experience from the second you walk through the door. Greeted immediately and guided to the other side of the store. Greeted by other staff on the way to the used lens section and finally landed with Mr. Lim. This one's for you Stan, thank you for being a great salesman and entertaining at the same time. Highly recommend Downtown Camera and their professional and pleasant staff and exceptional selection of gear that covers every brand name you can name.

A complete store with accessories, cameras, and films from different brands and models. If you love photography, it’s definitely worth including in your Toronto itinerary. We were warmly assisted by Claudia, who was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about photography. She was happy to share her expertise with us.

Downtown Camera customer service is truly exceptional. After a rough experience elsewhere, Faraz and Kenny completely restored my faith in what buying gear should feel like. They took their time, offered honest opinions about what was actually worth investing in, and never tried to push anything I didn’t need. It’s so refreshing to feel genuinely cared for rather than sold to. Thanks to them, I finally left with my dream camera, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll definitely be back whenever I need service or new gear. This is how customer care should be done.

I recently started using Downtown Camera after my neighborhood film shop closed. The team here is knowledgeable, always friendly, and genuinely helpful. Film scans are returned in a timely manner, and the quality has been consistent. I’d recommend signing up for their paid membership—if you visit even a couple of times, it’s well worth it. You get free film and discounts on developing, which adds up quickly.

great experience here! The staff actually know their stuff, super friendly, patient and never pushy. They helped me compare a few camera bodies and lenses without trying to upsell me on things I didn't need. Prices were fair, and the selection was awesome. Everything form beginner gear to pro-level equipment. They even took time to show me how to set up a few settings before I left, which was a nice touch. You can tell they care about photography, not just making a sale.

I will recommend anyone to use their services highly professional and the service is ELITE! I rarely leave reviews but George and James deserve it! As a Black person my pictures got rejected for the PR because of specific requirements. George recommended which shirt color to wear to minimize light reflection and James took the pictures perfectly. When the pictures didn't pass the Brightness check on the IRCC website James edited it promptly and emailed me different variations and it worked like Magic! I love a great business with an even greater customer service. I went to every other shop almost in the city none of them is as professional as Downtown Camera! Nice people, reasonable prices. PLEASE don't skip this one!!!
