Step into Double Zero, the East Village's vibrant vegan pizzeria, where wood-fired pies topped with nut-based cheeses redefine plant-based dining bliss.
"Double Zero breaks every single rule in the pizza handbook. Mozzarella is replaced by cashew-based cheese. There’s not a slice of real pepperoni in sight. And they dare to attempt the craft in a state other than New York (gasps). But who cares? Rules are meant to be broken. Our favorite pie here is the simple margherita, which comes with a great tomato sauce and some basil, but if you want something more exciting, the potato with roasted garlic is pretty good, too. Available for delivery and takeout." - kat hong
"If you’re going to choose a single place from this guide to visit, it should be this vegan pizzeria in the East Village. Dishing out plant-based personal pies from a custom-built wood-burning over, Double Zero’s pizzas both look and taste delicious. Start with a classic margherita before trying the artichoke pie and spicy arrabiata. The former is made with cashew cream, diced tomatoes, spinach, and caramelized onion while the latter has tomato, marinara sauce, cauliflower, shiitake bacon, and basil." - anna rahmanan
"If you’re looking for vegan options outdoors, Double Zero on 2nd Avenue is serving its plant-based pizzas on their patio from noon to10pm from Monday to Wednesday, and noon to 11pm Thursday to Sunday." - hannah albertine, matt tervooren

"There is no dairy or meat here; and by the taste of things, no one is missing it either. A long, tantalizing lineup of low-gluten pizza and "not pizza" dominate the menu, along with occasional specials like wickedly good sweet potato cavatelli. A vegan cheese plate might feature creamy truffled cashew or almond ricotta. All chased down with exquisite organic wine? Food nirvana, indeed." - The MICHELIN Guide
