"Third-wave coffee—the movement to change the public's senseof coffee from common hot beverage to valued and nuanced culinary commodity like wine—has arrived in Florence in the form of Ditta Artigianale. Three locations of the trendy spot have been launched so far, the latest inside the historic Cinema la Compagnia. Grab a table and order a single-estate Chemex pour-over and a flaky pastry or, if you are craving a more substantial breakfast, opt for a croque monsieur or pancakes. Open from early morning until after dinner, the Ditta Artigianale cafés, with midcentury decor, great coffee, all-day dining, cocktails, and free Wi-Fi, have quickly become a beloved brand."

Nice place to come - the coffees were super interesting. I had a passion fruit coffee, which I've never heard of before. I'd definitely recommend trying their more interesting coffees. Their food was also really good - perfectly cooked pancakes! A good amount of choice, although €19 for a sandwich seemed a little excessive. I had to knock it down a star because, when we went to pay, we asked to split the bill and the waiter rounded up to make it easier for himself. This was really odd and meant we were paying more than we should.

Stopped off here by chance on our way to our accommodation. As a pitstop coffee/sandwich or cake it ticked all the right boxes. Staff were super helpful... fluent in English (apologies for my Italian) and food arrived promptly and fresh. My wife had the Classic Croque Monsieur..... which tasted divine...my club sandwich was super delicious and very fresh. €40 for X2 coffee and sandwiches which I guess places it on the medium expense spectrum.

Absolutely loved our experience at Ditta Artigianale in Florence! Everything we tried was top-notch — from the gooey cinnamon bun to the moist and rich red velvet cake, each bite was a delight. The smashed avocado toast (see photo!) was beautifully presented with fresh toppings and a perfect crunch. We also had the Persian Love and Salted Caramel Latte, both of which were incredibly flavorful and refreshing The vibe of the place was trendy yet cozy, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this spot whether you’re after a light bite or a satisfying coffee break!

Google
Simply incredible coffee and pastries - just a 3-minute walk from the Uffizi Gallery! You can sit inside and enjoy brunch or take your order to the outdoor tables and relax in the sunshine. It quickly became our favorite coffee spot during our stay in Florence. I still haven’t tried the legendary coffeemisu- so that’s my perfect excuse to come back!

Google
This place can get really crowded, so come early to avoid the crowd. Coffee was great, and so was the crossiant! If you like, there's coffee beans from other regions that you can choose from. Friendly crew too!!

Google
Absolutely love Ditta Artigianale! Their coffee is top-notch—rich, flavorful, and expertly brewed. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. On top of that, the food is amazing, with fresh ingredients and great flavors. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick espresso or a full meal, it’s always a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!

Google
Review is for the takeout window. This was my favorite iced coffee shop in Florence. It was by chance I found it and I’m so glad I did, the coffemisu (tiramisu) was the best freaking iced coffee. I was expecting a hot coffee (since Europe) but was extremely surprised it came iced. It’s the perfect level of sweetness and creaminess. The ladyfinger was such a nice delicious touch. Had this twice before leaving Florence.

Compared to the local cafes in Italy with lower prices, I don't think this place is good. The pastry wasn't fresh, and the size of the cappuccino was smaller than what we drink in Italy. Additionally, as you can see in the picture, the waiter poured my cappuccino without bringing any tissue or changing it. Also in the kitchen they prepare food with no gloves and this is no acceptable at all. Despite all this, the taste of the coffee was good.

Yelp
A great trendy cafe with a great vibe inside and even better baked goods and drinks. The matcha was tasty and the latte was great. My friend and I also ordered a bagel and lox and croissant which was one of the best I've had, baked to perfection with a perfect crunch. Even throughout a busy time, we received our food relatively quickly. At a different location, we ordered aperitivo that did NOT disappoint. Amazing drinks and food as well.

Yelp
This was my favorite coffee shop in all of Italy! Especially in Florence where nothing is opened before 9am, this place gave us a safe haven to relax and grab morning jet lag breakfast aka pastries and focaccia. As a coffee snob this place is a godsend as I managed to find amazing espresso and even filtered coffee. For my more American friend who needed an iced latte they provided a pretty good iced latte as well. Service here is super friendly as most of them have traveled and or are coffee people who enjoy the art of coffee in general so I had a great time talking to them and talking about coffee, they've been around 4 free espressos and I am wired for life but it's so worth experiencing the different brands and having a good chat with locals. The cafe is super hip and new school and modern vibes. Tables are accommodating up to 2-4 people each. The focaccia was simple and good and we enjoyed our croissants and pastries as well!

Rachel T.

Yelp
Amazing espresso and friendly baristas. I ordered a double espresso and the barista recommended one from Honduras. It was smooth and strong - loved it. My boyfriend had a vanilla latte, which we hadn't seen on anywhere else's menus. It was made with real vanilla bean and we both loved it. Just a quick stop! We ordered inside and paid, and then they passed the drinks through the window to us on the street. We loved it so much we went to their other location a few days later.

Yelp
I cannot say good enough things about this place. It was located very close to where I stayed in Florence & across the river from the city center. The toast is the best brunch toast I've had in my life, I actually ate here twice. The ambiance is like a traditional coffee shop with a nice size outdoor patio. They have 90s hiphop playing, the workers seem happy & upbeat, and they are in no rush to push you out the door. The coffee itself was excellent & they've even perfected a spicy Bloody Mary. I enjoyed my mornings here people watching. I cannot wait to come back to Florence because I dream of this toast!

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our breakfast here during our first visit to Florence! It wasn't too crowded and we were easily able to find a table (table service is only one euro). It's pretty spacious and the service was pretty quick. Note that the server takes your order, but you pay at the front. Also, the music was quite good! I ordered a cappuccino which had great foam. My husband got an espresso, and it was super bitter (definitely had better elsewhere). The main hits were surprisingly our food! We got: American Pancakes (4/5): These were pretty tasty although the powdered sugar tasted weird with everything else (I just brushed it off with a fork). I ordered this with a side of fruit which paired well. Spring Green Toast (5/5): This surprised both of us with how delicious it was. This is a great meal to have to get veggies in your system, because it came with artichoke, asparagus, peas, and arugula. The goat cheese cream spread on the toast was soooo good. I would recommend coming back, although we did notice a few flies! I read that the other location is nicer, but we didn't get to try it.

Yelp
Location is small and usually there is a line of people . Waiting time about 15min not bad. You have done in or take out options, we did dine in option. Service is fast paced, open kitchen concept, price is comparable and food is good. Smashed avocado toast is just yum. With pomegranate seeds and option of adding salmon or fried egg, it's yummy. Croissant is flaky but not the best we have had. If you have allergies like we did, double/triple check. They gave us pistachio croissants instead of plain and my son is deadly allergic to pistachio!!! Good thing he spotted green stuff and asked us what it was and if he didn't we would have been headed to the hospital. We told our server as well we had severe nut allergies so was surprised there was miscommunication. End of the day glad nothing serious happen. Overall good place but not out of the ordinary.

Yelp
Oh my god! What a gem. We came in for a coffee and left with the best sandwiches ever. My husband is obsessed with turkey clubs, and this one is next level--the best we've ever had. The Persian coffee was amazing, and I can't stop thinking about it. Looking at these pictures is all I have for now until we make it to Florence again. Definitely a must-try for coffee and snacks.

Tracy R.

Yelp
Trendy and busy coffee shop, food was okay but pricey. Waited about 15 min on a Tuesday morning to get seated inside, there were lots of guests coming and going. -Coffeemisu (2/5) - I loved tiramisu so tried this one. It came out as an iced coffee which I wasn't expecting, and it didn't list it in the description. I thought it was too milky and not enough coffee/espresso taste. -Almond croissant (3/5) - yummy and flaky but nothing special -Soft scrambled eggs (4/5) - this portion was pricey (€9) but not your typical scrambled eggs. The texture of the eggs was semi formed, light and fluffy, seasoned well with herbs. Comes with a side salad My husband got the cappuccino and enjoyed it. I wanted to order one but couldn't get the attention of the waitress as it was too busy, so we just got up and paid.

Yelp
If you're a coffee snob, and appreciate a trendy coffee shop -- this is your spot. With tons of great coffee options, brunch foods such as avocado toast, pancakes, and eggs, you can opt for either a light pastry breakfast or a full blown meal. The sourcers take pride in where their coffee is from and the service is very attentive and friendly towards tourist. While it's a little pricier than other neighborhood coffee spots, the quality of the food and coffee is unmatched. They also have really cute merch if you are interested in repping their aesthetic and logo. Inside is a lot more spacious than the outside and there is a lot of wifi.

Alyssa C.

Yelp
So good we had it twice during our stay in Florence. Their tiramisu coffee was delicious. We also had their avocado toast and cube pastry. Highly recommend if you want more of a specialty coffee.

Carrie L.

Yelp
Stopped by one morning for a cappuccino and croissant. They were both delicious. If you are not sitting down to eat, there is an ordering window on the side. They have small benches on the outside where you can sit. I took a peak inside, and they have a variety of bakery items, cakes, etc. They also participate in the To Go To Go app to cut down on end of the day food waste.

Mary Jane K.

Yelp
Best croissants, cappuccino and coffee in Florence! They are conveniently located throughout town and I can't go a day without stopping at least once!

Lauren C.

Yelp
Proper and creamy cappuccino. It would be a shame not to try one if you can. Delicious.

David M.

Yelp
Perfecto! If you read thru all my reviews from all the many coffee shops I've been to around the world, you will find I'm not the easiest person to impress. Well, this place is as close to perfection as I've seen. It is so well known in Florence as the best, but it actually exceeded expectations! First, it is a cute shop located near the Palazzo. There is some seating inside and the vibe is casual but you know they mean business with respect to quality. We had cappuccino and a chocolate croissant, and both were epic! Let's start with the croissant. Perfectly flaky and the chocolate was not the small hard stuff you often find, it was a good amount of creamy goodness! But, the best was the coffee. These cappuccinos were off the scale. Milk was expertly textured. The flavor was classic Italian. The presentation was amazing with excellent latte art! I don't normally have seconds but I did here. They do have some other small eats and other drinks if you're interested. They also sell some merch and I was so impressed I got some. If you are in Florence and you are into espresso, you absolutely *must* go to one of the three locations of this place. You will not be disappointed and you will have one of the best coffee experiences you can have!

Yelp
So good!!! The coffee is fantastic and the pastries are delicious. Employees are super friendly and helpful. Great environment to grab a drink and snack, or stick around to hang out and work. Great stop on a beautiful busy street in Florence.

Ulrick M.

Yelp
These guys continue to produce delicious coffee and snacks. They grew into a multi store Florence chain but they haven't lost their attention to customer service and quality. Each cafe has a unique vibe, check them all out when you're in Florence!

Sophie S.

Yelp
great great food, pastries, coffees!!! super unique and delicious! good service, a bit loud and crowded but per usual for breakfast places. good atmosphere, 10/10 recommend overall!

Dan B.

Yelp
Great ambience, excellent service and the best cappuccino and breakfast I had during my 2+ weeks in Italy.

Russell K.

Yelp
I'm sure we haven't tried even a 5% of breakfast locations in Florence, but this was our favorite. The food was so delicious. Especially the Avocado toast, scrambled eggs with a bit of salmon. And they had a larger cup for coffee, compared to most other locations.

David H.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick breakfast - coffee was decent (and one of the few places I found that offered iced drinks and oat milk), cheesecake was delicious and not overly sweet, and the Croque madame and club sandwiches were pretty good. It definitely hit the spot when we wanted more savory options for breakfast

Lauren D.

Yelp
Passion fruit espresso tonic. Cold sparkling fruity espresso. Need I say more? The coffee critics can rejoice. This cafe is everything cosmopolitan mixed with the Italian dedication to perfect ingredients and flavor.

Jillian B.

Yelp
Passed by this place and picked up a cappuccino and a cold brew - both were delicious! Out of the 2, I'd recommend the cappuccino - it's so creamy and has a great flavor to it. Cold brew was good too, I've had better in the US but it was the first I saw here in Italy so I had to try it!

Lily H.

Yelp
What a phenomenal caffeine find in Florence. We spent hours here trying the different creative specialty drinks. You can also clearly see they're so good at latte art. OnThe cold brew is truly slow steeped, as can be seen. Everything here is so authentic. Prices are reasonable, staff is very pleasant. Music is hip without being overdone. There's high speed wifi. Did I mention the coffee is delicious? Definitely check it out!!

Trinity B.

Yelp
Favorite cafe in Florence. Loved the small cafe vibes, casual and cheap with really great food options. Coffee was fantastic, would highly recommend.

Jason G.

Yelp
Good location on the way to many sites. Excellent cappuccino and croissants. Fast service but not a great spot to sit and relax. Busy. But highly recommended for grab and go.

Seth M.

Yelp
3rd wave coffee in Florence. Pastry is great when it's fresh. Service is exactly what you expect.

Katlyn T.

Yelp
Adorable ambiance, really good breakfast and amazing pistachio croissant! Service was good, just the typically slow service I'm noticing is the norm around Italy. Definitely would recommend to sit and enjoy the surroundings with a cup of coffee or a full breakfast.

Morgan M.

Yelp
The group of stylish, polite, kind and gracious and inviting staff are worth the visit alone! As much as I want to learn the language and try to speak, it is also nice to have people meet you in the comfort zone, and they do that well here! Thank you! I enjoyed the gluten free avocado toast with a side of scrambled eggs. My black tea was yummy, steeping in a cotton tea sack, surrounded by international students, I highly recommend to a young person looking to meet like minds!

Susan C.

Yelp
Great iced salted caramel coffee on the south side! Not too much sugar and made with strong coffee. Made it my morning routine while in Florence.

Owen C.

Yelp
Yum. Great options excelente coffee for a coffee snob. Even have no dirt options for creamer.

Kaylin C.

Yelp
Service here is outstanding. Friendly greeting as you walk in and lots of smiles! Breakfast starts at 9am, however, before that you can grab a croissant sandwich or a eggs and bacon sandwich and your cappuccino. The espresso was so smooth. No bitterness at all. Fairly priced also, for 2 breakfast sandwiches and 2 cappuccinos it came out to €11.

Greg S.

Yelp
Premium espresso in a relaxed, Brooklyn-vibe space Coffee culture is everywhere in Florence- yet the espresso is not generally as refined as what we can get in major US cities, particularly the indie coffee shops that source and roast their own beans. Some of the fancy-looking cafes in Florence have baristas in ties and vests using prepackaged cartridges in their espresso machines- ouch! Here at this charming little spot, you can get a carefully sourced, smooth pull of espresso. Our lattes were presented in glass tumblers with an ornate swan design in the foam, a degree of difficulty harder than the leaf or heart motifs common in US indie coffee shops. Food was excellent- both the Madame (ham and cheese and egg on white toast) and the Avocado Toast with smoked salmon on hearty multigrain. And there's WiFi :-)

Hari K.

Yelp
I had gotten here before they got busy and put my order in and paid, but I noticed they served the people who arrived after before me. I had ordered the French toast and after waiting over 20 minutes I had to remind the cashier/server that I haven't received my food yet. She went to put the order in after I reminded her. And in the meantime my cappuccino was cold. So disappointed especially since this place had such good reviews. The people next to me had received their food and was finished. And I still hasn't received my order. Total wait time to get my food... 35 minutes. I asked for a hot cappuccino, and after taking away the cold one....took 10 minutes to bring a hot one. Cappuccino was good. The French toast was ok. I got them based on a review that someone exclaimed them to be in their top 3. I love French toast (a bit of a snob about them :) ) and these were no where near even the top 10. Skip the French toast and stay with the scrambled eggs instead.

Christopher M.

Yelp
What a busy little coffee shop. For as prevalent as coffee is in Italy, you would think there'd be some good competition. Alas, it appears Ditta Artigianale Is amongst the best. The place is small, and tables are mixed in size. You can get to go or stay in, but on Friday morning this place had a little wait. You can also awkwardly stand near the register. Also, the process for ordering food is quite odd, because you need to locate their piece of paper and one of their pens, fill it out, then hand it to the lady at the cash register. Avocado toast with egg looked enticing in general, but the avocado looked processed or out of packaging. Unfortunately, you need fresh for avocado for this. I went with the chocolate French toast and it was amongst my top 3 French toasts ever.

Jason S.

Yelp
(4.5 stars) Maybe the best all around coffee shop we've been to in Italy yet. The croissants were the only real disappointment, more like a cake than a light pastry. But the coffee approach is more similar to a third-wave US shop, with pour-over options (loved the Kenya) and single origin espressos. Would definitely go out of my way just to stop here and refuel for the day.

Yadi T.

Yelp
This place caters to the Starbucks crowd. However, the coffee is much better. They have a great variety of coffee beans and drinks including chai latte, cold brew, teas, juices, cocktails, etc. What impressed me was the Shakerato. It's an espresso shot shaken over ice and served in a champagne glass. Better than the iced latte I had contemplated getting. This place has brunch, lunch and dinner. It's a hipster, coffee drinker's paradise. Update: We went back the next day to try their breakfast. Ordered pancake. Nope. Apparently their machine was broken. Ok. I ordered the croque monsieur and hubby ordered the croque madam. Well, coffee came promptly but it took 30 mins to get our sandwiches. Hubby had to go up to the counter and show them our receipt to get them to make our food. The irony was that we were seated right across from the kitchen and cooks. The croque monsieur had too much cream and the quality of the ham was no better than grocery store shelf ham. Also, while I was finishing my coffee, I saw one of the cooks outright sneeze on the food he was preparing. He did not seem to care. For a coffee place this would be 5 stars. As a restaurant, I'd give it a 1 star. I really did want to like this place more because it is hip but I can't excuse bad service, mediocre food or unsanitary practices.

Egor T.

Yelp
Small place on a tourist street, small tables, few were empty in December, may be more busy in the season. Ditto's breakfast was nice, good portion, avocado toast simple but tasty, flat white 4/5, pumpkin spice latte 4/5

Carolyn M.

Yelp
Go to the other location! This location is small and dingy and ridden by flies!! We sat in the back room with the wooden tables perpendicular to the wall with 2 black metal chairs. I'm a tiny girl and couldn't get into my seat comfortable because of another tiny girl sitting behind me. Every time she moved, she bumped my chair. I got so annoyed I swear I was about to turn around and start a fight.. but eventually she realized that she was bumping me and finally apologized when I gave her a dirty look. The lamp at the table was super bright and distracting and the wire kept hitting my face. Food presentation was pretty but the place needs a makeover. I had the croque madame which got dropped on the floor in the kitchen. My husband saw the chef drop it so she made another and I had to wait. It was okay.. seasoned well but the bread was so dry it was like eating sandpaper. The bread needed to be buttered. My hubby ordered the eggs and bacon which were good. He also got French toast which we didn't finish because it tasted weird and herby. Overall, okay. Not sure if we would go back. Try the other location. You might get a seat with ample space to sit like a human being. Instead of a sardine stuffed in a can.

Lu L.

Yelp
Amazing brunch food and coffee. Ordered salmon avocado crunch, which is an egg, arugula, cheese, smoked salmon baked in half avocado with skin. A little bit too salty to my taste (my taste is on the plain side), but overall is good. French toast was ok. Next time I would ask syrup on the side as it was a little bit too sweet for me.

Scott B.

Yelp
Awesome place to pick up some non-Italian food while in Italy. On my trip, I was longing for a REAL breakfast--not one loaded with pastries and coffee but one served with eggs and meat and veggies! Well, Ditta Artigianale was exactly what the doctor ordered for sure! Here, I was able to get a Croque-Madame, chocked full of meat and topped with an egg... AND American style coffee, which they brew with either a syphon, aeropress, or V60 method (they let you choose!!!). The interior of Ditta is more modern than most places around Florence, which are more "old world" in decor and spirit. I appreciated this because it gets old eating eating in places that look a bit like museums. Also, the staff is friendly and super accommodating. Definitely check this place out if you're in Florence for more than a few days. You'll welcome the change.

Somaira H.

Yelp
Florence was a one-day trip for me in November 2018. I was walking all over the city and starving. So I found Ditta along the way and am so glad that I did. As soon as I walked in, I heard old school 90s hip-hop and saw the baristas jamming out. This made my heart happy because I knew this spot was obviously going to be cool. I ordered an espresso, avocado toast with eggs and the coffee french toast at the counter. Everything was delicious! Service was great as well. Try to snag a table right across from the counter so you can people watch. I was by myself and it was great to see locals getting together - very chill atmosphere. Not sure when I'll be back in Italy but I'm stopping here when I do for sure!

Winnie R.

Yelp
This is a nice breakfast/brunch spot. I ordered the croque madame and a cup of tea with milk. The food was really good & I liked that the tea was brewed in the teapot so you could enjoy more than one cup of tea (a lot of places give you a tea bag and hot water, and since the cups are usually small, you end up with a lot of left over water). The girl at that took my order could've been a lot nicer, but whatever. The food was good so I'll let it slide.

Mila Q.

Yelp
I'll be honest I was like I'm not coming to Italy to order a sandwich but honestly this place is very good, very quick, super fresh and made us HOT coffee. Will be back tomorrow for sure by the way the service is also very good.

Aisling L.

Yelp
This is an adorable little place! The staff is friendly, the food and drinks are great, and so is the music! In my time in Florence I tried two of the cocktails and several of the coffee drinks in addition to their gluten-free scrambled egg breakfast . Everything was fresh and delicious- I highly recommend stopping here! P.S. please keep in mind that the atmosphere here is relaxed: it's not the turn-and-burn pace that you find in The States. Be patient- it's worth the wait!

Miguel C.

Yelp
great place: ordered the combo brunch menu (12€) and avocado toast+scrambled eggs (6€+5€). All fresh ingredients and very well prepared. Place was cozy and warm, would definitely come back there.

Ian M.

Yelp
I really like this place. Great for a quick pastry on the go or a sit down coffee/breakfast place. I've tried their regular and chocolate stuffed croissants, both very soft and flaky, chocolate is very concentrated in the middle as oppose to spread throughout but they arent that big to begin with. They have a variety of crogue monsier and croque madame sandwiches. I tried the proscuitto croque madam and Aubs got the vegetarian croque madam. Both very good and surprisingly filling. There is a poached egg on top that can become runny if you pop it. Server spoke perfect english, was super nice and quick. I didnt get coffee, I know its a coffee shop but I'm not a coffee drinker. The other patrons seem to be enjoying the coffee.

Pazel M.

Yelp
This is hands down my favourite coffee shop on the PLANET. We stumbled upon this and for the rest of the week, we came here daily (sometimes 2x)! This is so much more than just an espresso. They house blend is just outrageous, we tried to buy some to take home, but everyday we came back they were sold out. The house blend feels like a blond costa rican coffee with a slight citrus taste to it. You have to just try it. The folks here are serious about there coffee: the La Marzocca they have for espresso has handles where they can adjust the pressure on each pour which in turn, affects the flavor. We visited both locations, and both are lovely. Personally, I preferred the music at Via dei Neri! I am not a morning person. At all. I woke up an hour early on my last day to make sure I could get a last latte before we left Florence. Guess what? They had a bag of coffee for purchase as well that day!

Asieh G.

Yelp
Cozy, intimate and perfect for the start of the day. Good breakfast options and coffee. Also great for an afternoon snack. People are super friendly and professional. No matter what time of the day you arrive, the place is busy but as soon as you select your food and coffee, the staff will help you to be seated.

Erin T.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I loved this place! He especially loved it, because they had filtered coffee, not just americano. So we went to this place both mornings we were in Florence it was so good.
