"Dinner was at Deux Amis, a French restaurant in Turtle Bay. It would be generous to call the food mediocre and they were out of frites (seems criminal!), but the vibes were absolutely right. Order was a martini, shared moules marinieres (no frites!), shared beet salad and onion tart (intricate Balsamic reduction sauce work on the plates). Entrée was roast chicken with a potato gratin."

Wow. The French onion soup is different with the star anise and cinnamon but the difference is homey and gentle. Our server was incredible and highly recommended. I even had to ask for his name and it’s Janos. Please keep this man. He explained everything perfect and chose the perfect wines to pair. I loved the beef rib and escargot. Definitely a gem of NYC.

We were in NYC for four days while I was taking my HS son to tour two Design Colleges. I also took my 10 year old daughter since my wife was out of the country. In Florida there may be French restaurants but who knows where? Hahaha, but we do come to NYC every year. And did I wear long pants, slacks and a sport coat! NOT a t- shirt and shorts and sandals! The place itself is similar to a Paris bistro, small, intimate and warm decor. The three of us had dinner and this is what we ordered. We had a cream soup that was a today special, lots of these little mini french breads, and two orders of Escargot, then for the main courses Poulet Roti for my little girl, the Bronzini for my son and I had the Le Veau with garlic mashed instead of the Risotto, plus a glass of a very fine Merlot. My children always want dessert so they ordered Creme Carmel and I think Raspberry Napoleon. The entire meal was quite good and we thoroughly enjoyed it. My son selected this venue and I'm happy he did. I recommend Deux Amis, we paid about $230 for the three of us plus tip, money well spent.

Deux Amis is our favorite French restaurant in NYC. The food is always top notch, and the service is attentive and friendly. Some of our favorite dishes are the Vol au Vent appetizer, so yummy, both the bronzino and the salmon entrees, and the bouef bourguinon is so flavorful and the meat so tender, it’s as good as any we’ve had in France. They have a terrific burger, too. You can’t go wrong here. Enjoy!

When I lived in the neighborhood, I was here at least once a week. Then I moved out of state... I finally got to visit the city recently, and Deux Amis was still a must-do after 3 years. In fact, during my 4-day trip I returned two days in a row! I can't say enough good things about the staff, atmosphere, and food. The escargot is outstanding. The mussels are equally amazing--the portion is pleasantly huge, and they offer several sauce/broth options (try the saffron cream!). It comes with delicious fries. Frankly though, the food has proven consistent, even over time, so I'm sure all of the other dishes I had in the past are just as wonderful now. It's truly a "home away from home." The menu remains the same, which is part of the comfort. Many of the patrons are regulars, but I still managed to meet lovely people who hadn't been there before. Bottom line: go there!

Delicious! The French Onion soup is a must! Had the daily special - lamb chop. Loved the outdoor seating, perfect if you have your dog with you :)

I’ve been dining here since it opened years ago when I lived around the corner. Last night, diners around us were also relating how they became loyal customers while living in the neighborhood. The food is very good, the service if professional, and the prices are quite reasonable. It always makes a pleasant night out for good food.

IMO the best French restaurant in town. We’ve been coming here for many years and never had a bad experience. It’s like a bit of Paris on the east side. Great atmosphere and excellent food. Best escargot, steak au poivre, frisée salad -classic bistro fare. Wonderful’

If you like French food is the right place to go!! It’s cozy and the staff is very friendly. We like it all the time but on a rainy or snowy night it’s super cozy. We recommend it highly.
