"Vintage clothing store, with a great eye for textures and vintage classics. They have sizeable shoe and handbag collections. I'm not sure what it is about Riverside, but it tends to not be too picked over which is nice. They buy used items too, and you'll get 50% in store credit, or 25% if you opt for the cold hard cash. A big part of the Common Sort magic is having choosey buyers, and staff are all super friendly." - Medina Abdelkader

Really popular consignment store, they always have a ton of new stock and prices are v reasonable. They once kept and watered one of my plants for 3 weeks while I was on vacation ( = people there are nice and chill).

I stopped by today after finding a great thrifted leather jacket that just needed a little care — it had some scuff marks. I noticed the store carried leather buffer kits and asked one of the associates, Ireland, if they had any in black and whether it would work for my jacket. She was so kind and helpful — not only did she answer my questions, but she even offered to help buff out the scuffs for me right then and there. That level of service really stood out. Ireland went above and beyond, and I truly appreciated it. I’ll definitely be back — amazing customer service and genuinely kind staff!

I go to Common Sort because I made it a point to myself to expect to find well curated clothing, not good customer service. But I was actually surprised to be greeted kindly last week. The woman was clear about the return policy, what kind of clothing they were interested to buy this season, and overall, her friendly demeanor. If we can clone this one woman, I'd give them two more stars.

Friendly, helpful service and a great selection! Brought in some clothes to exchange and was able to buy some really awesome pieces with the store credit I got! I get compliments on the jacket and shirt I bought here all the time

I’m not one to post reviews on google but I did want to share my experience with this business. I purchase a pair of jeans and the next day after realized I didn’t love the fit. I failed to ask the Customer associate on the return policy and I assumed you were able to return your goods. I don’t live in the area and went back the next day requesting a refund. I asked the store associate politely if I was able to get a refund (as my purchase was within 24 hours). The woman at the front immediately said no (short hair), when I explained my situation she replied “ it’s the customers responsibility not the associates to understand our return/exchange policy. She proceeded to smirk at me after cutting me off a couple times when I tried to speak. I will say that the experience made me feel really uncomfortable and it was quite upsetting. I do understand stores have there policies however I was just not expected to be treated that way. Just a reminder that kindness goes a long way and the way you speak to people does matter!

For me, the best thing about shopping at Common Sort is working with the amazing Stylist, Maggie at the Riverside location. Maggie has a great eye for style and quality, is so skilled at finding gems and at putting together cool outfits. She pushes me out of my comfort zone to try on clothes I would not have otherwise considered but in the end love! Thank you Maggie for all the care, attention and encouragement you give me at each and every session I have with you :)

Echoing other people’s experience here: I brought two large bags of nice clothes, all in very good condition (for example, one never-worn Aritzia top and a never-worn Levi’s Jean jacket), and I was told that none of my clothes would be accepted because of their quality. I was perplexed and told the employee that my clothes were completely new and from good-quality brands, but she replied pretty condescendingly that they don’t meet the store’s standards. I found the whole experience very unpleasant and did not find the staff friendly at all. Might be a better experience if you’re purchasing rather than selling clothes.

Google
Walked in and a few things I noticed that were unprofessional...one being an employee complaining about being hungover and not wanting to even be at work...wearing vulgar tee-shirt while working...treating customers like dirt. Also...don't try to buy anything from their "precious" store displays. I've personally never been denied money for an item seen in the windows. I mean...there's an item drawing in customers...you'd think they'd want to make a sale on that item. Being from out of town I won't ever have to go back to the store, thank god...I will never ever return to this location on Queen East in Toronto. Staff was really rude and also judgemental...terrible, terrible customer service. Also upon my research...she even told me the wrong brand of product but at least she got the company name right. Do better.

The store has a great selection and it’s well curated. The people who work here are nice and they’re doing their best! People who give this place a bad review are just upset that they don’t take their clothes. But the store will take what they aren’t over-saturated with and what they think they can sell

Yelp
Unlike the majority I usually have a positive experience at this location! It's by far my favourite, as I've become friendly with the staff and I always manage to find something unique! I've been shopping at Common Sort for a few years now and the only thing I wish they would change is the return policy. 7 days is just too short!

Jon M.

Yelp
Indifferent staff, insulting prices offered for good clothing new with tags...I'll be giving all of my unwanted items to a non-profit in the future not this dump. Both the Queen St location as well as the Bloor store are are awful.... Hard to believe they're still in business.

Josi M.

Yelp
If I could give NEGATIVE star I would! I am utterly disappointed by the service I received from the RIVERSIDE store representatives. I WOULD say I was racially profiled at the location but as an identifying black woman, the person who gave the RUDE AND DISGUSTING service was also a black woman with braids!!! Community from black, brown, and indigenous communities, you WILL get prejudged when you come here! Save yourself the wasted time!! Backstory: My partner and I collected my items and gave a call to the shop prior to arriving to find out the store information. (Just some contexts: our internet was down and we couldn't check the website and that's why we called!!!) And I spoke to a very nice presuming gentleman who told us the size of the bags we could bring and the timing to bring the items. We enter the store at 4pm. As we enter the store, this black girl with braids is eating a very strong pungent smelling lunch and gives us a rude look because we came in with 4 bags, 2 for my partner and 2 for myself, with one bag as a garbage bag. We were ok having two separate accounts. As we settle the items, she starts to question us about the NOT EVEN FULL GARBAGE BAG and I told her that I spoke to someone over the phone and he said it wouldn't be a problem. (Not even being considerate that this may be the ONLY bag we had at home to carry the clothes in!) YOU DONT KNOW ANYONE'S SITUATION!!! She appeared clearly upset we interrupted her lunch and visibly upset gathering our information. There was a point where she was literally patronizing us to come back to the store at 6pm to discuss the items. And she also expressed that their information is online but not knowing our situation! As we ended giving her our information and we walked towards the door, we both turn back and can visibly see her completely upset with the items we brought speaking to her coworker and is bad talking my partner and I. My partner had one more question and I decided to approach them again but as the girl with the braids approached me scarfing another mouthful of food in her mouth, I turn to the other associate to ask my question because I felt I deserved a bit more respectful customer service than that. Literally as we walked out at 4:15pm, we get a text at 4:23, that THEY "went through our 4 bags" and we can return to speak about them! We return after going all the way home because the girl with the braids was adamant about us coming for 6pm. The other representative expressed she went through our items and there were stains and the clothing was too worn! Absolute liars! There's no way the items I brought were worn or torn or stained!! And ALL items were completely folded the exact same way I left them. They didn't bother to go through it! I will never come back to this location at Riverside! Coming from another black woman, the girl with the braids NEEDS home and customer service training because that was HORRIBLE service! Adding some of the photos of the "worn" and "stained" clothes we brought!! As a stylist, I would never bring such items! Message me for photos of the clothes @styledby__jm

Yelp
This rating is based just on their buying. I will never waste my time again. I know they need to be very choosey about what they take; after all, they need to sell it. Having said that, I brought a ton of cool pieces - some designer names, some samples from NYC. Out of two huge bags, they took one item. Their reasoning was it isn't the style they are looking for. Most of my stuff is vintage pin up girl style. That shit is classic, but whatever.

Owen R.

Yelp
Great if you enjoy/like paying WAY more than the used clothing item is worth. Minimal mens selection. Found shirts that would be cheaper 'new' at H&M or Winners. Would not return, not much reason to.

Angela V.

Yelp
3.5 stars Since I've written my last review, they seem to have gotten new buyers. I can say the selection has really improved. (Though it can roller coaster between 'great vintage finds' to '...really?' depending on the day you come in.) The service has gotten better. I've sold a lot of stuff here recently (new, barely worn, vintage). You don't get much money for it but you get something. Best of all, I try to remember that the concept for this place is great since they are, after all, promoting the sustainable secondhand market (which is way better than buying something brand new). They were one of the first to start the concept here in Toronto (way back when it was the height of fast fashion and nobody gave a crap about it's environmental impact). Still not ~*~AmAzInG~*~ but I would still come here when I'm in the area.

Krystal F.

Yelp
I have to agree with my fellow Yelpers. This place has the worst service. The two women at the cash had a line up of people who wanted to sell/trade their merchandise, yet they spent nearly 35 minutes perusing their phone pics from their activities the night before. I came in at 11:05am and am still sitting here watching them flirt with a boy and share stories, all the while giggling of course. It is now 12:52pm and I am just fed up at this point. Seller beware...you will be lucky to get $4.00 for an article of clothing. Meanwhile they mark up their prices to full retail. I actually saw items priced higher than I paid at brand name stores, including designer. I mean if you need cash, I guess you haven't a choice, but I highly reccomend going elsewhere.

Brenda L.

Yelp
Three or five years ago, I could walk into this shop and find something I loved and would wear constantly. In the last year, I've gone in and been deeply unimpressed. Junky looking stuff from Gap! That's vintage? The two times I have brought stuff in, I'm met with insufferable attitude from the women behind the cash who seem to think they are design mavens. I didn't care about getting any cash for the clothes, I just wanted them to go somewhere where someone might appreciate them and not just dump them in a bin at Value Village! I'm so done with Common Sort.

Sammy D.

Yelp
Store is very small but clean which I truly appreciate. There are alot of cool curated vintage pieces, (if that's you're style) and isnt commonly filled with trendy brands like aritzia, zara, hm etc...I was able to score a beautiful purple maxi dress with fringing at the bottom, I haven't ever seen anything like it before so I'm pretty excited to wear it in the summer! I noticed some of pieces were way overpriced for it's brand, for example I saw a dynamite tank priced at $15 which is ridiculous considering it's an outdated style that has probably been on sale for less than $10 at the retail store. This store is on the pricier side as it is curated and therefore I wont be visiting here often like I would at a value village but when I feel like splurging this will be a go to!

Eliz L.

Yelp
Not a good experience. If you have items you want to sell on consignment go somewhere else. I set up an appointment online and arrived at the Annex location on time but got attitude the second I walked in the door. My first instinct was to turn around and leave but I left my items there for them to look at. They chose one item and the attitude of the young woman was so hostile that I told her I'd changed my mind and left. I've worked in marketing and know a lot about the benefits of good customer service. Why they treat their customers with hostility is beyond me.

Cassie T.

Yelp
I shop at thrift stores regularly. I have been going to Common Sort in particular for a few years now, but after I finish with my credit, I am not going to shop there anymore. Every time I come into any of the shops, the staff are talking trash about each other, or about customers! They stand at the front and just audibly discuss different people they don't like, or something they have a problem within the store, and rarely offer to help you at all. Such a toxic place to shop in and I won't be providing them with my business anymore.

Yulia R.

Yelp
For a shop that specializes in used higher-end/designer clothing, the selection is surprisingly uninteresting, and truly worthwhile finds are extremely rare -- and overpriced. I've been here several times, but never found anything worth purchasing. The staff has been consistently snooty and downright rude. Don't know how they manage to stay in business.

Julia D.

Yelp
Today I went here for the second time this weekend and I pretty much decided I'm never shopping retail again. Common Sort is definitely a valuable addition to the array of vintage options in the city. They want things to *move* off the racks here, and they tend to select pieces from known retailers (i.e. Banana Republic, Gap, Club Monaco, Reiss, etc and higher end designers) that are on-trend and on-season, vs. other more vintage-esque stores which have often a smaller selection of highly curated pieces that are very much examples of their era. It's packed full of product. I love coming here because I find it really reasonably priced cf. to retail and I can always find things to wear to the office or daily life as opposed to just unique pieces that need to be grounded in more run of the mill Winners/mall items. It also happens to be less than five minutes from my house. I've been shopping here since they opened on Queen East. The owner is lovely though I rarely see her anymore. The fashionable ladies there running things are selective about what they buy and because they price items so reasonably, you don't get a ton of credit for the goods you sell, but it does go a long way. The most I ever got for a piece was for an original St. Laurent/Bergdorf Goodman rattleskin/leather burgundy midi skirt from the 70s. They even asked me did I really want to sell it, it was so lovely and they knew I could get more for it on eBay or designer focused consignment...but who has the time? Someone, I hope, with a tinier waist than mine, was happy to buy that. They have a LOT of quality pieces and brands here. You do need to be attentive to the condition of the item and don't forget it's credit only (no refunds). And don't get carried away (or maybe that's what I need to tell myself). While the shoe selection is good, I've never bought or sold any here. They also have a smattering of new things: cheap & trendy sunglasses, jewelry, nylons/tights and slips. Today I traded for credit a lovely faux fur jacket (too large for me), a velvety Urban Outfitters party dress (too youthful for me), a beautiful purple Kimono that I brought back from Japan and have never worn, a very vintage minidress, a Calvin Klein grey knit sweater that didn't quite fit.... I walked out pleased as punch with a beautiful chartreuse floral silk dress ($65), a very unique but very much weathered Kenzo wool jacket from the 80s (made in Japan!) ($65), a Brooks Brothers navy dress ($42!!!!!), a sweet 80s-esque black leather purse with gold chains ($32), a couple of cashmere sweaters/ wool turtlenecks...yesterday I picked up a gold-flecked Aritzia blazer, a multicoloured silk skirt & a loud leopard print skirt with a slit up the side. I did not buy a beautiful red quilted Escada skirt because it was too large but oh...my...God. Someone who is a size 6 should go and buy that!! Go!! I also did not buy a smashingly red wool BR jacket for only $34. But someone should. It's still about the hunt here but it's definitely not as much work as the racks @ Value Village (though from time to time I go there too when I have 5-6 hours to kill). I'm a seasoned vintage shopper & a very typical size (size S/2/4/Euro 38) so as with anything, YMMV. Dear Common Sort, Please continue to buy my clothes & offer your amazing range of clothes in amazing prices & I will shop with you forever. Signed, a loyal & happy customer.

Joelle C.

Yelp
Do not bother selling your clothes at Queen or any other location; it's a total waste of time and energy. The "buyer" I spoke to didn't take the designer boots they told me past winter to bring back this fall and refused to take 2019 winter collection items from CM and BR because according to her they were too summery. Laughable.

Donjanta K.

Yelp
I thought I had done something to offend by saying good morning and smiling since I got no response and just a surly look from the older blond lady. But now that I have checked out the store online I see that I am not alone in my complaint about this store. Could it hurt you to be courteous and perhaps a hello or smile once in a while? Perhaps also get off your phones and quit the constant chatting while customers who have brought in items are waiting for their stuff to be looked at. It would appear that they try to drag out the length of time to go through items. I won't be back it was such an uncomfortable experience.

Laura M.

Yelp
I sold a few pieces of of clothing here which is completely fine since I sold majority at the annex location (and a few things in Parkdale) and didn't have that many interesting pieces left so I still have loads of credit to spend, the thing is, I have been at this location multiple times before and after I accumulated my credit but the single time I wanted to get something was before I sold my stuff when they had a beautiful real leather h&m bucket bag which was around $50 plus tax, I wasn't in the mood to spend that day and I am really sorry for that, I would love to find this item again. after that nothing :( but it's just my style that is different, they have lots of things in great condition and steamed after they buy it and they also buy daily so you should drop by, specially if you are into vintag , you never know what you might find. some prices are a lot higher than you might see in a regular thrift store but it's curated plus you get a better payout so if you sell your stuff and spend it to get theirs, totally worth it. employees seemed ok. If you have any quality mid or higher end brand stuff in good condition with minor flaws you don't have time or patience to sell elsewhere where you might get more for it, do bring it for evaluation because 50% store credit is a great deal (much better than kindexchange used to give) or you can score some quick cash instead too (25% I think). Selling experience 4.5 Buying experience 1.5 total - 3 I would drop by again every time I am in the neighbourhood because inventory changes so you never know!

Millieh S.

Yelp
This store doesn't even try in customer service. I went in with one item which was a Matt and Nat bag and it had a couple scuff marks and I was told to come back and they would review it again after I wiped it off. Couldn't they wipe it instead of me going all the way home and back again? I just donated it. Many other times coming in they have been super rude.

Shanley W.

Yelp
What a neat little shop. It was a bit of a trek from my home, but worth the mission. This location is smaller than their Parkdale store, but still had a great selection of unique, vintage pieces, including some of the cutest boots and purses I've ever seen! The prices were a lot more reasonable than I was expecting, more than Value Village but less than many other retail stores. I brought some stuff to sell, and none of it was accepted, so I got some good tips of what they do and don't like! -They won't take anything not in great condition, including just small tears or stains. -They only buy in season, so I was told to bring back some of my dresses in summer and they would buy them then, but they don't have room to store things. -They get purses and belts from wholesalers, so unless you have a really awesome, unique piece they won't take it. They also don't buy jewelry at the Riverdale location, but apparently the Parkdale location does. -For newer clothes, they prefer designer or nicer brands. If they do buy your stuff you get the option of either 50% of what they price it at in store credit (expires in 1 year) or 25% in cash. You can also get a $30 store credit if you model for their site, http://www.commonsort.com/

Yelp
The Common Sort is my favourite consignment store in Toronto! The staff is always been friendly, to my knowledge and experience, and their outfits are always styled perfectly - #fashiongoals. They're also responsible for which items make it to the sales rack, which is probably why the curation is always been on point; applicable to trends, and an array of items that would be appealing to most fashion styles. What I love the most about the Common Sort is the chill vibe; you can actually shop, in peace, without having to worry about sales staff berating you. Recently, they have opened a secondary unit - exclusive to the Riverside location - where you can purchase accessories, homeware, and other adorable knickknacks! In my years of shopping at the Common Sort, I have never come across rude customer service; they come across as very seasoned sales associates, who are genuinely fashion enthusiasts.

Rhoda M.

Yelp
As a shopper I do find the variety in merchandise is not as good as it used to be, but I am a frequent visitor. The owner is very friendly and kind, however I cannot say the same for her staff. When I brought in items to sell I was met by sales girls who were on both occasions arrogant, insincere and disinterested. From now on I will only visit when the owner is there.

Veronica H.

Yelp
The clothes are great but the prices are high! My main issue is how rude the staff are for absolutely no reason. I've been to the Riverdale location twice and both times found the staff to be extremely unhelpful and unpleasant. Such a shame as it makes me not want to return!

Colleen H.

Yelp
I never post reviews but honestly I'm tired of the terrible customer service. The people shopping are friendlier and more courteous than the staff. The young white brunette working the cash today was awful. She made me feel like I had no right to be in the store and I was a nuisance to her. I stood in front of her at the cash after she had gone through my clothes for 5 minutes while she ignored me until she acknowledged me by saying "what?" And I explain that I was wondering if she was done with my clothes. "Yeah... I'm done, they're over there" pointing, without even looking up. The vibe here is 100% don't bother me, get out of my face. Do the owners read the comments on here? I hope they do because I'd love to support sustainable fashion, but I'd like to have a much better shopping experience.

Adrienne T.

Yelp
have bought a few key pieces from the Bloor W store on my way home, There are some good deals there though most of it is overpriced. Today, for the first time, I decided to bring in a small number of designer dresses which were originally $400+ each. They ended up taking some, which was fine, they offered cash or store credit. What really irked me (and my daughter also feels the same) was the way they treated me when I entered and inquired about leaving clothing for inspection. The barely 20 something young girl who was the merchandise "inspector" at the cash told me twice where to stand, and informed me that there were people in a line ahead of me so I should wait until they had time to serve me (there was one other customer at the cash), all via a very condescending and passive aggressive manner which made me feel like I was doing something wrong? My daughter described her experience in the same store as being treated like an undesirable or homeless person when she only wanted to leave clothing for inspection. Needless to say, when they offered me 25% of their sale price in cash or 50% in store credit, I took the cash and ran!! Too bad they can't staff the store with people who are less offensive, it is a great concept and some of the clothing is nice.

Natalie T.

Yelp
3.5 stars VIBE Well organized for a consignment store but they're not going for decor here that's for sure. THE GOODS Lots of cute skirts and good prints. You've got to sort through the racks and come back frequently if you want something good. That's the feeling I got. OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK Sorting is more common than you think at a consignment store.

S L.

Yelp
Unfortunately Common Sort's Riverdale location has lost a lot of its charm. This used to be a store with friendly staff and a beautiful collection of unique and interesting clothing. Within the year, I've noticed their selection has gone downhill and have found myself (on regular occasion) picking through the same old frumpy, polyester scraps which doesn't really appeal to it's neighborhoods Clientele (this aint the West End Common Sort). The staff don't look very interested to be there and spend more time texting on their cell phones than tending to shoppers. I really hope they can bring the store back to its level of service and originality from when it first opened.

Marisa K.

Yelp
The staff at Common Sort make me feel like I'm not good enough to be shopping at their consignment store. Consistently when I go in to shop they roll their eyes at me when I ask questions, give me attitude when I cash out, etc.. I'm going to stop shopping there because their customer service makes me feel awful.

Leah K.

Yelp
SALTY staff! Every time I attempt to give this place another shot - either selling clothing or just as a buyer, the staff are consistently rude, unwelcoming and act like their sh!t doesn't stink. It's a consignment clothing store, I'm not sure I understand how they behave like this, especially in a neighbourhood as lovely and warm as LVille-Rdale. Moreover the pricing is a bit off. Not sure they know the market, and they evidently don't know customer service.

Faye F.

Yelp
I like this place, it's local... there are some really cute finds, and they take care to look for style in each piece. It might take a while to find something that works for you, but it's a great place if you're willing to hunt a little.

Dardana M.

Yelp
I liked this place, and would probably go there often to see the new stuff, if it were closer to where I live. I will still probably go, out of my way as it is, because I know it has the potential to serve me up some good finds. You can just tell these things. When this next time occurs, I will be sure to lug over some of my old stuff cuz there is a certain part of my closet that may as well have a revolving door on it. The other part should have a glass case and an alarm system, in case you were wondering. But seriously? I never thought that thrift store shopping could get any more exciting and then you lay this trade and sell business on me. Pretty good idea, methinks. Another good idea? If anybody here is like, a size zero, get your tiny ass over there and buy the greatest pair of hottest pinkest jeans (they're Wrangler, too!!) I have ever seen in my life. It will do nothing but hurt me if I have to look at them again with the knowledge that I can't buy them. I considered even making them into a denim pillow or something.

Lucy L.

Yelp
Their assortment of clothing is a good mix of vintage and trendy. I am normally able to find at least one unique piece. I like the store but the customer service here is terrible. I've never had a bad experience with the newer girls but the main purchaser who is the older blonde lady is plain rude. It doesn't matter if you are a seller, buyer or simply asking questions, don't expect her to be pleasant.

Clara G.

Yelp
Very rude and snobby lady, blonde older lady working here. She is apathetic to customers and is not friendly. Not worth the time to come here, she made me feel really awkward and a burden to her store.

Laura R.

Yelp
Snooty! Every time I go in it's like they think they work at a freakin Chanel! What the heck. It's consignment store with items as low as $5?? I'm made to feel like a real idiot every time I walk in there. I smile and say hello when I walk in every time! All I get in return is a glassy eyed stare. I'm not sure why they're so rude I honestly don't understand.

Sheryl C.

Yelp
Glad to read some of these reviews about the attitude of the staff. I thought it was just me! I've had a bag of designer things that don't go with my pallet any longer that I've been thinking of selling (they are handy to me) but I've been putting off because the experience in the past has been so uncomfortable. I'll sell them online or check out Value Village if you're a size 6!

Alina M.

Yelp
My first time at the store today, eben though I didn't end up buying anything, I just came by because someone told me about it and I wanted to check it out. Very reasonable prices and great quality stuff. I will most likely be returning and buying something.

Christine F.

Yelp
Some nice staff, some really rude. My friend and I laughed our asses off at the old blonde behind the counter whose lips are permanently pursed. Clueless! The only thing worth looking at are the shoes. Some of this stuff is straight up garbage, I swear some of it is cheaper new.

Julie D.

Yelp
I've never in my life experienced such rudeness and arrogance from another human being. Went in to drop off clothes after thoroughly reading the guidelines on the website. Walked in and said hello, was met by a blank stare. Advised salesgirl was I was there to do and ... Another blank stare as she kept eating. So I kept talking, telling her I read online I could drop off clothes to get priced? She rudely answers "I know what's on the website". Anyways, this went on with more of her arguing with me so I told her to check the site as what she is saying is different then advertised and that with that kind of attitude there was no way she was getting her hands on my designer clothes. I walked out. Assumed this was a shop in the business of buying and selling clothes. Maybe I was mistaken. Maybe I'll check the website again. NOT.

Yelp
I walked in here looking to sell some clothes and all the staff I interacted with were rude, especially the older lady actually purchasing the clothes. I don't think I did or said anything that deserved such treatment from her. The entire time we spoke her lips were pursed and she was cold and short with any questions I had. I asked for my clothes back that they were going to purchase and dropped then off at value village out of spite. The 30$ they were going to give me was not worth being treated that way. What a waste of time.

Yelp
I like thrifting here when I'm too lazy to get knee-deep in clothes at VV. I usually always find one thing I like that is reasonably priced, but some items are truly bizarre and look like thrift/vintage rejects. I have no idea how some very stylish items can be chosen, but also truly hideous "vintage" that just screams old and dumpy, can make it to the racks, as well? Not all vintage is worth saving! It just clogs up the racks when items are carelessly and seemingly randomly chosen. For instance, I have seen the same sweater on the "clearance" rack for the past few months. What is this, Salvation Army? OK, I digress. Besides a more discerning eye, I would LOVE if the change rooms had little benches in them to lay your items down because the floors are always really dirty and you just don't want to be putting anything down there. Either that, or a sweep every now and then, would not hurt!

Yelp
I'm giving this review a very low score due to a HORRENDOUS employee. It's a shame because I've consigned with this store many times and have always had an easy and pleasant experience with the other staff. The last two times I was there I dealt with a very, VERY nasty staff member. This is my first time ever bothering to write a review for a store but it was just too awful to ever forget. I went to the front counter and said hi good afternoon, just for her to IGNORE me, (even though she obviously saw me enter as I was the only person in the entire store and the counter is RIGHT by the entrance). Then she proceeded to just be rude, patronizing and describing things to me like a 6 year old when I politely and in a very friendly manner told her I had a bag of items they potentially might want. Again, just a complete psycho for no apparent reason! Snarky looks, eye rolling, condescending, she obviously hates working there. I tried to just ignore her awful behaviour and assumed she was having a bad day, because I have worked at a busy retail store and I know sometimes you just get tired of dealing with people. However she just continued to be so mean with her blatant facial expressions and bipolar mood swing - attitude. She sounded like she just really wanted to be heard, wanted to talk down to someone just to get it out of her system and be RIGHT about their non-rocket science consigning policy (even though I barely said a word because she was scaring me and I just wanted to finish our transaction as smooth as possible). I've never met anyone whose been this AWFUL before. I didn't argue back because someone like that is not worth anyone's time or energy. I am pointing out the fact that this was a Asian employee in hopes she or the owner reads this and that someone who works there can teach her some proper etiquette when it comes to talking to other human beings, and to leave whatever unresolved personal issues she has AT HOME. If she's the owner, then I hope she reads this and learns to treat her customers better. Especially the ones who help to bring in business as regular consignors. I will NEVER be going back here and have already told my whole group of friends who've also consigned here to just go to other consignment stores in Toronto as well. They are freaked out by my experience too.

Yelp
I'd really like to like this shop but the attitude ruins my experience Every. Single. Time. From buy and sell (I feel as though my clothes with tags still on them are gum on the bottom of their shoes) to shopping (a nice hello never hurt anyone). Maybe I've just been in on a bad day. Several times.

Yelp
I want to like Common Sort so badly but the staff ruin it every time. They are extremely rude when it comes to buying, making the seller feel shitty and like they're an inconvenience. They also have this "I'm so much better than you" attitude. It's so unnecessary and definitely not how retail associates should ask. I've been buying and selling at common sort for over 5 years, but I think after today I am done.

Yelp
Won't come back here again. Thought the blonde chick behind the counter was just having a bad day or had something wrong with her, so I ignored her devastatingly pursed lips and attitude towards me for no apparent reason, but turns out after reading the reviews that she's just normally like that. Yikes. Worst encounter I've had with another person really... she picked out one item from my full bag and attempted to give me $6 cash for a brand new item I've never worn once, just took it back as I'd probably get at least 3x as much selling online. Didn't feel like supporting this business, I feel like they just want you to donate.

Yelp
The rudeness is absolutely stunning. Do they not get that we are providing their inventory for basically pennies? Two young girls with less personality than an empty box. There is just no excuse for rudeness. THey don;t deserve your shopping dollars.

Yelp
Queen West location. Honestly, the staff here are unhelpful, clueless and pretentious af. They always act like you're interrupting their day, no matter if you're buying or trading. Especially if you're trading. I don't know who hires them. I came in to buy something and inquire about a trade and THREE girls at the cash couldn't serve me. Two completely ignored me and the third just walked by and said that she needs to do something else right now. I've been shopping there for five years and it's getting worse and worse. Prices are ok but the merch has gotten really worn and old-looking. There used to be lots of nice stuff at reasonable prices, now it looks like Salvation Army down the street.

Yelp
A very decent array of thrifted finds for such a small shop. The window displays are often quirky and kinda of odd pairings, more of a Queen West feel or Ossington perhaps, in comparison to the Riverside hood. Shoes, accessories and men's stuff too. Friendly staff really try to help you find what you're looking for and make suggestions for putting an outfit together. I absolutely love the fact that they take trades, so you can bring in what you're bored of, and they will assess the value and give you a slip for half of what they would sell it for in trade! You could also take the money for your trades but that amounts to much less and I prefer the idea of trading up the old for the new-to-me instead of getting a pittence in cold hard cash. The trades are specific to the season though, so if it's spring they only want your cute spring stuff, not your winter boots.

Yelp
To me this is the best of all the locations. I've been to all of them. There's a great selection in an array of sizes. The staff are less snobby then at other locations. They actually try very hard to help you find something. The racks are also meticulously organized. It's not overwhelming to browse.

Yelp
Great place, cool concept! Beware if you are bringing in your clothes to trade, they are very picky. I still can't figure out why they didn't want my in season BCBG boots (worn twice) or my sexy Nine West pumps with the tags still on them? They did take 2 of my shirts and gave me $15 credit to use in the store. We all have stuff we don't wear, so why not trade it? It's a very clean place, and everytime I'm there they are busy steaming the clothing which makes my OCD happy! Bottom line, if you are a man or woman looking for good quality/clean gently worn clothing...visit! Their stock is always changing!

Yelp
Selling experience was pleasant and the staff was very friendly. The prices are very reasonable for some of the higher quality items.

Yelp
Affordable vintage clothing. Cute boutique and friendly staff.
