Casa Isola in Sunset Harbour serves up hearty, homemade Italian classics in a cozy, unpretentious setting that feels like a delicious trip to grandma's kitchen.
"Chef Jose Mendin’s Italian iteration has garnered a steadfast following. With a charming ambiance, the menu features approachable Italian fare at equally kind price points, including dishes like polenta cremosa al gungho, burrata Panzanella, pappardelle alla bolognese, chicken marsala, and eggplant parm." - Eater Staff
"Casa Isola used to be a good Italian restaurant that served huge portions of satisfying red sauce dishes. But its revamped menu leans too heavily on nonsense fusion (and the dining room also got a neon-heavy makeover for the worst). Promises of flavors like kimchi bolognese and corn gyoza agnolotti fall flat, and the udon carbonara is so liquidy that it’s practically soup by the time you mix in the poached egg. Luckily, Casa Isola kept some of its old favorites on the menu, like their spicy rigatoni. So if you find yourself here, focus on the more straightforward Italian dishes. And if you are interested in some sort of Asian fusion meal within Sunset Harbour, go next door to this place’s sister restaurant, Pubbelly. It works a little better over there." - Ryan Pfeffer
"Jose Mendin’s latest creation is Italian in focus with a nod to his roots, taking over the former Pubbelly space in Sunset Harbour. The homey space features plenty of hearty dishes from chef Santo Angello’s childhood, like the prosciutto bread with parmesan honey butter, burrata Panzanella, veal chop parmigiana, braised lamb ragu, and the short rib and taleggio cheese ravioli." - Amber Love Bond, Olee Fowler
"Rigatoni Alla Vodka There’s a new Italian restaurant in Sunset Harbour called Casa Isola. It’s right next to Pubbelly (its sister restaurant) and it’s an exciting addition for people who love great Italian food served in gigantic portions. I really liked everything I ate here - so much so that I added this place to our Hit List. But one of the standout dishes was definitely the rigatoni, a simple but delicious pile of pasta, Calabrian chilis, and vodka sauce that could probably feed three people and a small animal." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea
"Another must is Casa Isola—it’s an Osteria-style Italian restaurant located in Sunset Harbour, a small waterfront neighborhood in Miami Beach. All of their pastas are freshly made in house. Try the Rigatoni a la Vodka and Veal Chop Parmigiana. It’s a casual vibe and unpretentious, like you’re at grandma’s house in Sicily."
