On the Grid : Casa Iberica

"Since its humble beginnings in 1975, Casa Iberica has become synonymous with Fitzroy's Latin community. With an exterior decorated with Spanish-inspired street art, this deli specialises in products from Spain, Portugal, Central America and South America. Fresh smallgoods are made in Melbourne and each shelf, fridge and freezer is packed with authentic speciality items from abroad. The care and service is exactly what you'd expect from a family-run business for over 40 years." - Vertigo

Mushroom empanada was mid. The other stuff in the store looked great but they had the entrance blocked off for the festival.

*Moth-eaten food and poor service* Very unfortunate and unprofessional experience at Casa Iberica. Went yesterday to purchase a tin of biscuits. Though the price on the box was $11 we were told at check-out that the price had been increased to $15 - no signage anywhere indicated this, so I can only assume it was a spur-of-the-moment decision from the staff. Extremely unprofessional thing to do raising the price ad hoc like that. Even worse, when we opened the biscuit tin at home it was moth-eaten, with moths and moth larvae in the tin. Photos attached show the moth-eaten biscuits and chocolates, droppings and insect webbing. Check the quality of the food at Casa Iberica before you purchase, as clearly there are some major oversights and quality problems at this store.

Love this Deli!!! So much selection and beautiful food. The cheese was amazing, the service was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Australia.

Such a lovely shop, I bought chamoy and tajin from this shop. To be honest, it was my first time visited Spanish/Mexican grocery shop, and I was so excited to visit this shop, since there are lots of things I’ve never seen anywhere else before including some unique Mexican potato chips, I was interested to try those but I have to change my mind coz the price was a bit too dear 😅 anyway they have lots of fresh Spanish/Mexican pastries and sweets too, might come back to try their pastries in the near future.

I would like to put a good review but this is the second time I have bought chorizos (among other things) and they give you a sample to try and sell me another one that has nothing to do with it. The first time I let it pass but The second time it was no longer a coincidence, it was a deception and it was not about the money (It's not cheap at all) it was the lack of honesty in Australia which is quite common.

Lots and lots of Latin American products, easily the most you can find in Melbourne, can be expensive but if you're looking for hard to find things it's worth it.

My, I'm lucky that i kept to my budget, Because one can get in serious trouble here. They give you a taste of everything, and then you're in trouble. I bought 4 kgs of fresh chorizo to take back home, and also a $50 mini jamon on a stand. All well worth it. Good luck and may temptation not send you broke!.

Great selection of foodstuffs and some cookery tools. Super friendly staff. Love their queso fresco for arepas and gorditas. I have not found this number of Latin American & Spanish groceries anywhere else in Melbourne.
