"Restaurante Carmen Carmen lies at the crossroads where quality, creativity, and sustainability (plus every other big-city culinary trend) meet. The namesake proprietress, alongside musician husband Rob Pevitts (both San Francisco Cordon Bleu graduates), is the genius who imported the restaurant’s California-sybarite style to Cartagena. She also brought a passion for everything that comes from the sea, and even imported her father, who’s responsible for serving up crab, lobster, fish, and octopus in line with standards he picked up on his many travels in New York and Japan. We have only had amazing meals in Colombia but were lucky to experience one of the best tonight. We work with a lot of high end chefs and teams so can appreciate an experience like this even more ! Lovely decor and great menu. Angel was very cool and made us feel super welcome. The way he served the table and explained the dishes was amazing and you could feel his passion. Some little tasters were also brought out too which was a cool touch. Thank you team.

The food here is top quality. Menu choices are excellent and show their great skills at combining local flavours into the dishes. Loved the small tasting dishes between courses, such a nice touch. The service was faultless, for non-Spanish speakers the staff also spoke English. Not too expensive either, although the wine list was a little pricey compared to European wine lists, but still a good choice. Definitely recommend this place. I have several times and will go again.

We came here for the chefs tasting with the drink pairing and we were not disappointed! The food and service was amazing and definitely worth every penny. Highly recommend if you are in the area, reserve well in advance!

Fantastic dinner and experience all around! We opted for the seven course tasting menu with the paired drinks and it’s a must! You get several items I may not have ordered otherwise, and the drinks matched perfectly with each course. We were never rushed, the courtyard patio was gorgeous, and I desperately wanted to go back and try more things on the menu!

Disappointing food, excellent service. Over hyped. I went with high expectations given the hype. The food was disappointing - the spicy crab appetizer, basically a mini taco in a nori shell was over sauced to the point where you could not taste the fresh crab. And the pulpo appetizer was one dimensional and missing salt. The fish entrée with coconut risotto was excellent - fish cooked perfectly and pretty tasty. The highlights of the meal were the cocktail and the desert. Given the multiple options for delicious food all around, I would not recommend eating here. For $100USD (solo), I expect much much better. Thanks to Juan for attentive and warm service!. The service was relaxed and let the diner set the pace, which I much appreciated.

Lovely place for lunch. It can be a tad hot in the courtyard, but they have several fans to help with the heat. The food was amazing! We loved the ceviche, spicy crab risotto tacos and the tostadas entradas. For mains we enjoyed the juicy bavette steak, Pez Palma fish and the delicious chicharron pork belly.

We visited restaurant Carmen for lunch today and had the 7-course tasting menu. Every course was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, and the restaurant itself is stunning, with a great atmosphere. We would definitely return!

After being thoroughly impressed by Carmen in Medellín, we decided to try the one in Cartagena. The overall experience was similar, with excellent food, attentive service, and a stunning ambiance. However, we did notice a slight dip in the quality of some dishes. For example, the octopus was a bit chewy, which seems to be a common issue in Colombian restaurants, but it shouldn't be the case at this level. On the other hand, the Spicy Crab, La Posta, and Pork Belly were outstanding. Overall, it was a 4.5/5 experience.
