"And after partying in La Roma, I always head to Ricos Caldos de Gallina Luis the next day. Their specialty is one of those homemade broths that's filled with peas and rice, and can cure a hangover like no other remedy."

Yes! Just yes! If you love real homemade chicken soup and can appreciate the other chicken parts, then this is for you! Perfect at any time of the day or night. Great service and amazing flavors. No off-putting tastes or odors, just clean tasty flavorful soup. I tried the Caldo de Gallina with thigh meat and liver... late at night after a few drinks... Perfect! I'll be back every time I come to Zona Rosa.

My wife got sick & this was the perfect comfort food to help her feel better. Amazing chicken soup, made with hens for richer flavor. You can eat in or order to go. Open 24 hours, super inexpensive. A classic!

Came because my friend highly recommended this place. However, the chicken soup here was nothing special and didn’t have as much umami or flavour I expected. Worth stopping by if you are in the area and craving for some hot and comfort food. Not worth going out of your way for this.

Great value, fast service. When you see a line of local people at a food place - it’s worth visiting.

The caldos is a must! As well as the mole negro enchiladas. Convenient, quick and cosy

We ordered a half chicken breast soup and a mix of liver and leg soup. The broth was really tasty, and the garnish they provided enhanced the flavor. Overall, it is a healthy food choice.

Delicious street style chicken (more accurately, hen) soup. Also available on Uber eats. Late hours makes it perfect post party

Really comforting chicken soup. Enchiladas are not exactly what someone from the United States would expect (just saucy folded tortillas with chicken, cream and cheese on top) but is also delicious.

Yelp
We had just finished a pretty large brunch and were far from hungry and were taking a leisurely stroll down Insurgentes when we turned a corner and ran head onto this packed sidewalk of small tables and stools...I mean wall to wall packed. You know the rules, if its super busy w locals, you stop. We all ordered a couple of orders of Enchiladas de Mole and posted up at a table. Staff was great and made us feel right at home...but the standout was the Mole! Definitely a standout Mole of our trip, and absolutely worth putting onto your list of CDMX street food.

Yelp
Caldo de gallina con pechunga: Delightful chicken broth with fresh chicken, chickpeas, and rice! The spicy sauce is too smokey for me. Adding the onions, lime, and a couple chillies made the broth even better! The tortillas are pretty tasty as well. I want to try the rest of the menu. Looks like the mole enchiladas and bread are also popular!

Yelp
Delicious hearty chicken soup! This soup was tasty and fueled us after a day of exploring. Service was friendly and I liked the huge bowl of onions for topping!

Yelp
@davidchang made us do it and it was so worth it! @caldosdegallinaluis This is the best chicken soup I have never had. You need to make sure to get the dark meat but it is really the broth, the spicy salsa that you can add and that this is their main thing. Soup, soup, and more soup. We got enchiladas and they were good, the verde sauce was tangy and just a little spicy. But the soup!

Yelp
Best Mexican chicken I've ever had. Comes with fresh tortilla, cilantro, lime, onions and salsa

Yelp
Great local neighborhood spot if you are into chicken soup. The broth was delicious as were the tortillas they served. Just very tasty comfort food

Yelp
A good friend and work colleague stopped over here for lunch today, while we were checking out some areas in Insurgentes. This restaurant probably had about 15 tables inside and out on the sidewalk, and every table was occupied. We waited only for a short time until we got a table. Thankfully they had an awning that pro used a little protection from the sun. I ordered the two enchiladas con mole, while my friend was even more brave. He ordered the rabadilla chicken soup which to me seemed a little raw. I knew for sure that it would not have settled well with my stomach. This little diner is very fast paced, and our Server was practically running between tables. I definitely appreciate slowed, and my enchiladas con mole were very good.

Yelp
Delicious chicken soup and enchiladas! I would ignore the soup Karen saying they use turkey instead of chicken broth, the soup has a very nice chicken flavor. Of course it will taste different from American chicken noodle soup because the seasoning and ingredients are different (American versions use mirepoix -- carrot, onion, celery as a major base to chicken broth). If you expect Campbell's Chicken noodle soup you are better off bringing some in your suitcase!

Yelp
Fantastic chicken soup at ~$3 usd which came with a side of warm tortillas. Order the pierna (dark meat)! Best comfort meal I've had in a while.

Yelp
This mom and pop, no-frills, outdoor dining establishment was truly a hidden gem. The chicken soup definitely hit the spot. It came to our table piping hot, and our table was set with chopped onions, limes, and hot sauce. The fresh handmade tortillas rounded out the meal perfectly. The music was playing loudly, the servers were exchanging funny, yet friendly insults, and the customers were happily slurping away at their soups.

Yelp
I have really bad FOMO when I travel, so I really enjoy eating street food. I got a lil bit of food poisoning at one of the carts and went 24 hours without eating... This place was a life saver. I think chicken soup is supposed to be good for an upset stomach. It literally healed me in no time. I got the soup with rice and chicken breast. 57 pesos!

Yelp
One of our last, and favorite, meals in Mexico City! My boyfriend was sick (with the flu!!!) and we were looking for something light and not too spicy. This was PERFECT. We ordered the chicken soup and green sauce enchiladas. Chicken soup has rice, chickpeas, and is super light but flavorful. It came with about an ENTIRE loaf of bread. We topped it with cilantro and lime. The enchiladas were very, very filling and super delicious, but ultimately we were obsessed with the chicken soup. It really felt so different from American chicken soup. Ok, so the food was incredible, and the added bonus was how great the service was and how calming the ambiance was. It was clear that only locals / Mexicans were there for lunch. It wasn't crowded but definitely busy and had a constant stream of people coming in for a meal. The server was super sweet and amiable and even though there was a definite language barrier (we aren't that great at Spanish), he was very communicative and helpful.

Yelp
BOOM! When you get home at 2am and want a meal, there's more choices than the 24/7 La Casa de Toño. I don't even know how I found this place as the pin was in the wrong spot, but I did find it. I wasn't in the mood for the soup, which is I guess the star attraction. Got the enchiladas verde for around $3. Super fast and delicious, ate the whole plate before heading home and going to bed. If you don't mind your restaurants hole-in-the-wall'y, go here.

Yelp
This is NOT chicken soup, it's Turkey broth. TURKEY BROTH. Not chicken soup. I asked for caldo de pollo, the waiter said....yes....so I ordered for take away. And then I was disappointed to the fact that these people use turkey broth instead of chicken broth. That would explain the different color and how cloudy the soup looks, and the weird flavor. I for one, did not like it. For the people that thought this soup was "such a different flavor from American chicken soup"; I think that you have no business writing reviews when you cannot even tell the difference between chicken and turkey flavor. I won't return. I was disappointed and frustrated and felt like the waiter was full of sh*t.

Yelp
OK, 4 stars from me is a 5 star from most people. Great spot, no frills but great chicken soup. A large bowl with a chicken leg (muslo) sets you back about $2.35 ($42 pesos). Comes with rice, garbanzos and two large freshly handmade tortillas. Never tried them, but for roughly the same price you get a huge plate of enchiladas with either green sauce or mole. Place is open 24/7 365 days a year. It's right near the Insurgentes Metro station.

Yelp
Great local spot for enchiladas and a comforting bowl of homemade chicken soup. If you're sick and need a hot bowl of soup to make you feel better - this is your spot!
