Byron's Hot Dogs is a no-frills gem in Lakeview, serving up Chicago-style dogs and burgers that are a hit with everyone from locals to the former POTUS.
"What To Get: Hot dog, bratwurst. What To Know: This hot dog stand opened in 1975 and is close to Wrigley Field. It has a few outdoor tables and is a great option if you don't want to spend $9 for a dog at the game." - adrian kane, john ringor, nick allen, veda kilaru
"In Chicago, a "hot dog stand" is not a roadside mobile steamer cart, but rather the term for any number of permanent outposts serving up the preferable Viennas. Byron's on the far north side of Lakeview, at Uptown's border, is no exception. This place has no frills stamped all over it, and caters to the construction worker, cubicle dweller and hipster alike. It's a great spot to grab a Chicago dog (see sign) on the way to Wrigley or the beach. Plus, it's President Obama's pick when he's in town (or being served the same grub at the White House, apparently). Good enough for POTUS, good enough for me." - Studio Malt
"Just a few blocks north of the entrance to Wrigley on Sheffield and Waveland is Byron’s, an old-school hot dog joint. There are a few picnic benches outside, and their hot dogs and brats are better and cheaper than the ones at Wrigley Field. Feel free to get your quota in here before heading to the game." - sam faye, adrian kane
"Those who don't get their fill of hot dogs inside the ballpark can head up to this classic hot dog stand on Irving Park Road for a delicious Chicago-style dog with all the fixings. This stand has been serving the neighborhood and Cubs fans since 1975." - Ashok Selvam, Naomi Waxman
"Byron's Hot Dogs is one of the more unique stands in Chicago, started in 1975 by Byron Kouris, the son of Greek immigrants. Kouris died in 2012, and there's only two stands left, but they're beloved..." - ByDennis Lee
