"Bobtail, Lakeview. At the corner of Wellington & Broadway, a distinctive blue striped awning marks a Lakeview East favorite, Bobtail. It's the kind of place that no matter the time of day or season, is always housing someone looking to have a scoop or two. And in summer, there are usually lines out the door to prove it. Having lived at this intersection for a few years, it takes serious willpower not to snag another punch on the loyalty card. Go for the Cubby Crunch, waffle cone. It doesn't disappoint. Or bring back a pint to share."

Bobtail Ice Cream Company - Review - Lakeview - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Bobtail is a charming old-school ice cream parlor in Lakeview. They have classics like cookie dough and mint chocolate chip, but the real standouts are the Chicago-inspired flavors, like the “Lakeview Barhopper” (chocolate mixed with Jack Daniels) and the “Cubby Crunch” - vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, Oreos, chocolate chips, and toffee. If you want to take a date to get ice cream, this is a good place to do it." - Adrian Kane

Cute ice cream shop. The staff is friendly, the prices are good and the ice cream is tasty. They carry all the flavors that people generally want...just don’t expect any strange or unique flavors. The line can be a little long but moves quickly. There is limited seating inside but I wouldn’t want to stay inside anyway in Lincoln Park on a warm sunny day. I’ll be back if I’m in the area.

I tried the peanut butter chocolate ice cream and it tasted pretty much like what it sounds. Nothing incredibly special. But their ice cream is freshly made which is why it's good. I just wish they had more options. I stopped in at around 5 pm and they were out of almost everything. I don't know why they don't plan ahead and make more. They also need to have a list of flavors that are currently available on the wall so people can choose as they wait. You literally have seconds to choose once you get to the counter where all the flavors are visible. Definitely go to Jenis because they're always stocked on everything and have their flavor options viable on a big wall. I probably won't come here again.

The have a nice, and seasonally changing, selection of ice cream as well as a freezer stocked with pints, cakes, and other treats. I'm not going to lie, I've only ever had the Signature Sunset, because merlot flavored ice cream, when I've ordered a cone. Also, the ice team sandwiches, made with chocolate chip cookies, are fantastic. My sister and I were shopping in CB2 on north on Friday before the Pride Parade. They were giving out these chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches with rainbow sprinkles. We both gushed over how good they were. The CB2 employees didn't know where they came from. When I happened to move in down the block from Bobtail and stopped in and found, to my surprise, these rainbow sprinkle chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches I couldn't believe it. And they are exactly as good as I had remembered. Check it out. If you like ice cream, you'll be happy!

Ice cream, can you ever screw it up? I'm not sure, but Bobtail owns it! Minus the long line (can you blame them?), this place is fantastic. Good ice cream with great service that's friendly. I couldn't decide what to get (so many good options), so I just told the guy to get me what he would eat. Came out with a caramel pecan scoop on a cone, and was happy. Great stop for some good treats. Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 9/10

The mix of flavors is unimaginable !!!! It really is an ice cream you have to try it! And its different types of cones are insurmountable !! Love the place, they just need to have more types of chocolate ice cream!

Probably the best ice cream in the city. It's fresh and tasty, and they have plenty of unique flavors and options. The staff is very friendly. It's a typical ice-cream shop setup, with only a few tables inside and outside, but the neighborhood around it is very walkable, so I love to order from here and wander around. The prices are reasonable for the area and specialty (though high for ice cream in general), so this place is definitely worth the wait that can often accumulate.

The best ice cream in the city! They have creative and delicious flavors that change every few weeks. The decor and atmosphere is intimate and inviting. This is a great little after-dinner date spot, my boyfriend and I always walk here after we eat. Never been disappointed, I'm halfway through my third loyalty punch card :)

It is worth standing in line for! The ice cream is really good! I got the white chololate peanut butter and I have to say that its probably one of the best ice creams I've had so far. I got it in a chocolate dipped waffle cone and the two went together very well. I recommend trying a flavor that you normally don't get at other stores. They have a good selection!
