"Birthdays, Saturday mornings, and post-cycling afternoon meals have benefitted from the muffins at Blue Sky Bakery for more than a decade. They’re stuffed with whatever fruit is in season at the farmer’s market, and you can enjoy them along with your coffee and maybe even a cupcake on their sidewalk tables, from 7am to 12pm daily." - nikko duren

"Blue Sky Bakery is a tiny cafe near the Barclays Center known for its muffins. They wholesale them to places around the city, but the shop is a popular stop for Park Slope people on their way to work in the morning. These muffins are unbelievably good, stuffed with fruits, and never too sugary or sweet. Get there early - they close at 2pm and the best muffins sell out by late morning." - Matt Tervooren

Google
They had the best Muffins I’ve had. Eric and his team were always welcoming when I dropped by. I had no idea they were closing. So sad to lose this gem in the neighborhood. Wish I stocked up!

Google
Great neighborhood coffee shop/bakery, best for morning visits as they close later in the afternoon. Very relaxed atmosphere and kid-friendly. The space is small and doesn‘t have many tables, but they have a lot of children’s books ready to entertain little guests while their parents refuel with coffee. We‘ve always loved their muffins, which are baked in small batches and available piping hot throughout the morning. Favorite flavors are triple berry and blackberry nectarine (see picture) Special shoutout to their cinnamon buns: they‘re the *only* bakery who offers intense flavor without drenching the bun in sugar/syrup. They‘re light, not-too-sweet, and very cinnamon-y. Available with sugar glaze for people who prefer it sweeter, but we keep coming back specifically for the un-glazed version!

Google
The description says cash only but they take Apple Pay/card! Muffins are worth the hype, and even though I came after 12 they still had some that were warm. The strawberry cream cheese muffin was soo good. And the coffee is solid as well! Just wish I hadn’t discovered this place right before I’m moving out of nyc!

Google
No one else makes muffins like this! Full of juicy fruit and they have a crispy crust on the outside. The best!!! Also recommend the iced latte ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
Super cute place, but the muffins are shockingly bad. I’ve had far better muffins from grocery store bakeries! The blackberry peach was especially dry and felt like it had been sitting out for 2 days. Despite its cozy, unpretentious vibes, will not be returning. You have to do better in Brooklyn.

Google
Their muffins have some interesting flavor combinations, but we found them to be a little too dense and dry. Heads up, it's cash-only!

Google
The muffins are some of the best I have tried anywhere. I just read a review that they were not good and that is just the most insane statement I have ever heard. These muffins are made fresh each day and they use fresh ingredients. The woman who wrote that review was clearly mistaken. I get muffins regularly and they have never been “days old”, maybe a couple hours. Please come here for an amazing muffin and other pastries! Ignore the terrible review.

Google
Great place. Very tasty muffins and coffee. Strong espresso :) Nice bench out front. Good place to swing by on a weekend and just hang. Especially when the sky is blue.

Yelp
The highlight of this place is definitely the baked good options. They're all very tasty go perfectly with your breakfast ensemble. Price range personally could be a tad better, a coffee and a muffin was 12 dollars total. I find it hard spending more than 10 dollars on that combo anywhere. The coffee is good but you can tell it's not their specialty. Overall ambience is very relaxed, there's lots of seating around the hall and the staff is very friendly and will strike up conversation. I've gone here a couple times but haven't felt the need to be a regular, which is something I look for in a coffee shop/ bakery.

Mike D.

Yelp
5/5 Great - The atmosphere is very nice, good amount of tables for a small cafe. Muffin selection is impressive, and they are very tasty. At $6 per muffin they should be great and they are. 4/5 Good - The regular latte slaps you around the face, you are getting a jolt of caffeine and you will like it! I also ordered a decaf version of the same and it was good. 3/5 Ok - We needed 3 chairs at our table and that caused two of the tables to have zero chairs, they could use a few more chairs.

eve S.

Yelp
Nothing special muffins & now $6 each won't be returning .. obscene prices for small muffins with very little fruit...can make yourself

Pamela K.

Yelp
Thanks for the wonderful find, Yelp!! Yummy muffins and if you catch them at the right time, you can even enjoy a muffin fresh out of the oven! Tasty, creative flavor combinations, but the muffins still have a simplicity about them so they're not overdone. Blue Sky is definitely worth a stop in!

Yelp
My go to breakfast spot in the area. George is fantastic and always welcoming. I keep coming back for the conversations and the pumpkin muffins and banana bread which is amazing. He recently has been doing empanadas which I can't get enough of. This place is a 10/10 and I try to recommend it to all my friends.

Art A.

Yelp
Outstanding muffins! They put chunks of fresh fruit and/or a thick layer of fresh cream cheese in the muffins. They are properly cooked, unlike so many muffins which are gooey in the center. That slightly tough top texture of most high quality muffins is extended all around the muffin -- the outside of the muffin is a little bit chewy, all around the product, which is unique and perfect. You have "muffin top" all around the muffin! These are by far my favorite muffins, in a class by themselves.

Makayla N.

Yelp
What a shame, the muffins were great but this location has closed. Unsure if they plan to reopen

Julie Ying X.

Yelp
I came here for breakfast on a Friday morning with a friend. Their muffins are so popular! They were out of some flavors but they keep making them so have to wait about 20 minutes for a new batch. Fresh muffins out of the oven are the best thing ever! Next to being off work which luckily I was that day (gotta love Summer Fridays). We ordered the zucchini/strawberry/chocolate chip, the carrot/pineapple/cream cheese, and the blackberry/peach muffins (basically, a muffin tasting). I really enjoyed the blackberry/peach the most probably because it was the only one fresh out of the oven so it was still warm and moist. The carrot/pineapple/cream cheese and the zucchini/strawberry/chocolate chip were good as well. I would definitely recommend if you like muffins since they have so many different flavors and they put whole fresh fruit in the muffins.

Samantha W.

Yelp
The most amazing muffins on the block! I don't know how they make their muffins so perfectly. Everything from the shape to the crispy crust to the warm and moist insides is perfection. I've tried their blueberry pumpkin walnut and mango pineapple muffins and both were incredible. They use real fruit chunks, too! I was not expecting that. The muffins are the perfect amount of sweet without being overwhelming. The outside "crust" also had the perfect amount of bite that gave way to a super soft inside. I can't stop talking about how perfect these muffins are. In fact, I've used the word "perfect" six times in this review, now!

Roxanne O.

Yelp
The muffins are delicious! Bought Blueberry and cranberry muffins! We try to visit the bakery whenever we go to Brooklyn!

Elena M.

Yelp
Hands down the best muffins I've had (and I'm a connoisseur). I come here at least once a week after a workout and the guys behind the counter (I believe the owners) seem to engage with every single customer, striking up a conversation about whatever. Great people and excellent muffins! You can't go wrong with whatever flavor!

Henry W.

Yelp
Um I don't even know what to say other than the best place ever! I recommend everything the people are so nice I basically grew up with them. I will always have a special place in my heart for blue sky bakery! And I hope others can too!!!!!!!!

Gab G.

Yelp
Had a great slice of sweet potato bread from here. I came towards closing so they were out of a lot of things but I'll try to be earlier next time so I can try one of the muffins. Cash only!

Oliv T.

Yelp
Despite having plenty of other muffin options around me, I still walk 9 blocks to Blue Sky. Their coffee and baked goods are phenomenal. Service is always great and the ambiance is perfect. If there's any music playing it's always good and never at a big or distracting volume. There's just nothing bad I can say about this place.

Jim E.

Yelp
Incredible fruit filled muffins! , coffee was fantastic and a hearty rich Brooklyn blend. Table out front was a delightful romantic brunch spot!

Jill H.

Yelp
We moved away from Brooklyn but whenever we come back to visit we make sure to pay a visit to blue sky for their creative and delicious muffins! It never disappoints!

Wendy W.

Yelp
My go-to place for muffins. Each one has a crispy sugar crust on top and a moist interior loaded with chunks of fresh fruit, as well as fillings like nuts, zucchini zest, chocolate chips or cream cheese (the best). They're pretty large, but I always buy two or three at a time because it's so hard to choose between all the delicious options. They also make good lattes, as well as other baked goods like cinnamon rolls, loaves and cakes. The chocolate banana bread and sweet potato spice cake... mmm. Get 'em if you see 'em. Note: They're cash only and they close every day at 2 p.m.

Eliza S.

Yelp
Wandered into this place on a whim in search of a breakfast pastry. Muffins aren't normally my thing--too bready, too sugary--but the whole bakery smelled insane and the guy working the counter told me the muffins were fresh out of the oven. I got one of the pumpkin walnut banana muffins and...holy moly! Am I a muffin convert now?! Maybe! Incredibly delicious, literally steaming warm, filled with delicious banana gooeyness. This place rocks. I'm glad I don't live too close to it because it's dangerous.

Kim P.

Yelp
Have been coming here since 2010. Best, most unique muffins I've ever had, hands down, So moist and flavorful with fresh fruit inside.

Hungry K.

Yelp
Greeting- no Vibe- hole in wall Service- fast BR- one for all Parking- good luck Muffins are dense creations on the dry side lacking taste. Disappointed based on all the rave reviews. WIGB? No

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this place since moving to the neighborhood (3 years ago, oops) but just never got around to it. Well I have now officially been twice and I can tell you that I'm kicking myself a bit for missing out on years of delicious muffins and a super friendly staff. Now, normally, I am not a muffin person because I just find them unexciting and I am easily swayed to other breakfast pastries. When I came into the bakery a few weeks ago for the first time I really just wanted a latte - they were willing to pour it into the travel cup I had with me, which I appreciate. I will say that my latte was just ehh as the milk was overheated, however, this very well may have just been an off moment, and I would definitely try their coffee again. As I was waiting for my latte I saw one last banana chocolate chip muffin. It was staring at me with its chocolatey eyes. It was saying "eat me". I couldn't deny the muffin's request, it had seemed so sincere. And so with my latte I got the muffin, and a homemade dog treat for good measure (which my dog seemed to heartily enjoy). I came to work and started eating the muffin. Then I got up, closed my office door, and finished my muffin in private because the muffin deserved my undivided attention. It was so good. Since then I have been thinking about that muffin. Today I went back in and there were no chocolate chip banana muffins, but there were strawberry blueberry muffins that the gentleman at the counter informed me were just out of the oven, so I obviously couldn't resist. The muffin was still pretty warm after a 25 minute commute to the office, so he wasn't kidding about them being fresh, and I could smell it the whole way on the train, and I will tell you that this muffin also did not disappoint. My new problem is convincing myself that I should not be eating a muffin from their rotating selection for breakfast daily.

Sage S.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place for a coffee and a muffin. If you want a variety of fresh baked muffins (the same muffins that stock a couple of cafes in Brooklyn) then head over to this tiny spot for your tastebuds to jump with joy. Not a muffin person? Luckily, they have quite a few other pastries for the days I'm not in a muffin mood. Between the delicious food and how friendly the owner is, I keep coming back! In a city full of strangers, it's hard to feel like a regular anywhere and they make that possible.

Manolo A.

Yelp
One the best bakeries in the neighborhood, the Pumpkin Banana Walnut muffin is exquisite, more if you catch it recently out of the oven. Don't let local business like this die!! Enjoy globally, eat locally.

Ariadne S.

Yelp
Blue sky has the best muffins I've ever had! They melt in your mouth. Amazing flavors that change daily, but are always immaculate. George and the staff are so sweet, always welcoming and friendly every time we go in. Could not recommend more! Don't miss out!

Fox E.

Yelp
I had high hopes for the Blue Sky Bakery. High like the blue sky above Brooklyn. But not on a cloudy day. Because then you can't see it, and the comparison becomes dumb. I finally went in here after missing their closing time 2-3 times on earlier food tours. I got a Blueberry Muffin because they remembered it. It was probably a 4-star muffin (i.e. very average, since I rate family owned places 3, 4 or 5 only), but because of all the hype and the fact that I was expecting the muffin from heaven to change my life forever, I'll keep it as a three. It was just a very average muffin that did nothing for me. In fact I may like the ones at Wegmans up in Buffalo better. Damn. That's cold. And if you sleep with a member of the Blue Man Group or Rebecca Romijn from X-Men, then you might hear a "Blue Sigh." If you're any good.

Kim F.

Yelp
We came in mid-afternoon in a Sunday. My niece ordered the pumpkin bread. Since it was the last piece, they ga e it to her on the house!! Now that's customer service!! Oh...and the bread was delicious, too!

Sarah M.

Yelp
my favorite muffins in the world. get the plain blueberry, it's incredible, or ask them whats most recent out of the oven. the owner george is a total sweetheart as well

Gabby S.

Yelp
I wish I brought a book to sit down and enjoy my muffin! It's such a cute little bakery. I bought the zucchini muffin with dark chocolate and raspberries. It's a hefty size and not skimpy with the dark chocolate and raspberries. I can argue that my muffin was still warm on the insides after my 10 minute walk back to my apartment. (yum) It's crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, aka muffin perfection. I'll be back, but to stay a little longer :) P.S. CASH ONLY

Georgia C.

Yelp
Wonderful muffins with fresh fruit and delicious banana bread with big chocolate chips--they are so nice here and they added outdoor sidewalk seating. They have the newspaper and a cute library of children's books to borrow and read while visiting. Blue Sky is a charming and special place with the best muffins in NYC.

Kenny C.

Yelp
The pumpkin apple walnut muffin is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Cozy shop, super nice people. Also, buy a dozen muffins and you get one free!

Jenny H.

Yelp
Every time I visit Blue Sky Bakery, a tiny shop with friendly staff, they seem to have a new pastry to try. I just had a strawberry blackberry muffin that was packed full of fruity flavor without being overly sweet. The chocolate croissant was a hit with my fiancé too. Can't wait to come back and try more muffins soon -- it's dangerous to live so close to this place.

George C.

Yelp
I really don't know why I keep bothering attempting to shovel my money into an establishment that doesn't seem to value anyone else's, but after trying my darndest at 7am, 9am, noon, 2 pm, and 4 pm (that last one's ludicrous, I know), it finally seemed that a Tuesday @ 11am was the sweet spot. BSB* seems to be a haven for the cognoscenti of Park Slope, carrying the motherly sway of the current population, who direct passively-aggressive stares in the direction of any newcomers, especially when their behavior warrants especially long glaring (pouring water along the long counter). Staff was nice enough, albeit pretty distant, and the raspberry blackberry bran muffin ($2.25) and oatmeal chocolate chip cookie ($1.25) were good and not so good, respectively. I have no reason to return. *No coincidence they have the same initials as a boy band

Sherry D.

Yelp
This is just about the cutest hole-in-the-wall bakery in Brooklyn. If you're looking for a pretty hip place that still has the small business vibe, this is the place to be! The pastries here goes fast on a busy day and they pass them all out before it gets too far into the afternoon. The muffin I had was a bit on the drier side, but it was still extremely delicious. I suspect the dryness was from the fact that I wandered in late in the day, so I'll have to pop in early for a fresh treat! Prices are reasonable and I definitely need to explore this menu.

Jen H.

Yelp
Had the best coffee cake here. Didn't look all that special from the outside- but once I dug into it, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous quantity of fresh raspberries and chocolate inside. Top was crispy, inside was moist. Cozy space, i.e. small space- but enough empty seats on a late Sunday morning. There didn't seem to be a ton of options (only a couple types of coffee cake, a few kinds of muffins, and almond croissants)- but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Need to come back and try the muffins, which looked great.

Wendy Z.

Yelp
pretty good! but not anything lifechanging. got a blackberry and peach bran muffin (i think i don't exactly remember the flavor since had it in may, but it was full of berries and i think?? stone fruit so maybe it was plum), and it was monstrous. the muffin itself was super nice since it had a lot of fruit inside and the bran gave it a hearty texture. it also wasn't too sweet, which made me happy. but couldn't give it five stars because at the end of the day,,,,, it was still a good, but relatively average muffin.... but would say if ur ever in the mood for a muffin, do stop by!!!

Edward J.

Yelp
The perfect weekend morning bakery. Their muffins are expertly made - ranging from the sweeter, berry studded ones to the "healthier" bran forward flavor of the darker ones; the coffee is solid and pretty cheap. I'll have to try the coffee cake next time. Overall just an awesome, laid back Saturday morning type vibe.

William B.

Yelp
Holy cow. I see what they mean about the muffins. Crunchy on the outside (even the base, not just the top), tender and fluffy on the inside, pocked with molten berries-- they're good! I has one on my first day in Brooklyn and spent the rest of my visit dreaming about going back, but alas we never made it. And the ambience is classic Brooklyn: cheery, letterpress-esque logo; dozens of hip, attractive people in casual conversation; friendly staff. All it needed was a dog or two.

Judy Y.

Yelp
These are the best muffins. Usually I'm more of croissant or scone type of person, but these have me wanting more. The combinations of flavors are fantastic - such as pumpkin apple walnut, or carrot coconut mango to name a couple. The store hours are short and they do run out, and their locations are not nearby, so I'm glad the bagel shop down the street from my home carries these muffins even if the price is almost double.

Elaine M.

Yelp
The muffins are super amazing! Came in both mornings over the weekend. Blueberry cream cheese muffin one day and the pumpkin banana chip muffin on another morning. The muffins were served warm. I bit into it and it was a soft, yummy deliciousness. The cream cheese was well complimented with the blueberry. The chunks of banana in the pumpkin muffin was divine with the melted chocolate chips. Iced coffee was strong which means thumbs up to my standards. Simple syrup is offered to sweeten the iced drinks. Staff was pleasant. Only a few small round tables for 2-3 people seating. There's also bar like seating along the wall with high stools. Nothing fancy just a nice little place to enjoy a light breakfast. FYI--The pumpkin apple walnut muffin is a must have as well!!!

Victoria J.

Yelp
I finally got around to trying Blue Sky Bakery's famous bran muffin! It was good, but somehow, not great :( The crumb was decent, but it really needed some butter because the two muffins I tried were both dry. Where's the butter?! I guess my expectations were higher than what was delivered and i probably would get another one if I was in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't go out of my way for these muffins.

Jacqueline A.

Yelp
I just recently moved into the neighborhood and every time I've stopped by everyone has been really nice (making friendly conversation) and the pastries are great. Can't beat a positive atmosphere!

Ricky Z.

Yelp
Wow. What a muffin! Been looking to hit up all the bakeries in park slope and this was on my short list. Had the raspberry banana muffin and was blown away. Warm, with huge chunks of fruit on the inside. Can't really ask for more. And the coffee wasn't bad either. Will definitely be back to try more

Adria C.

Yelp
Finally, a day when I was not working and able to catch this bakery during it's early operating hours. The yummy smells had my expectations high. After viewing the goods in the case, I was a little let down because everything cakey looked dry. I was torn between the lemon pound cake and banana chocolate chip muffin. Selected the muffin. The base of the muffin was generic and bland, likely used for all their muffins, and like I had surmised, dry. The banana flavor was hardly there and the dearth of chocolate chips was noticeable. Quaint interior for a coffee sipping and peaceful reading but skip the baked goods.

Ian B.

Yelp
Didn't get a chance to dine in but was able to grab a few things right before they closed (note the hours: 2PM is when they're done!). My stash: Banana-blueberry bran muffin Pumpkin-cranberry walnut muffin Chocolate Banana bread The banana-blueberry was my favorite. You could tell the thing was made with actual fresh fruits and was not overpoweringly sweet like muffins sometimes are. In the middle there was a whole pile of blueberries giving the muffin a gooey center which went really well with the more chewy exterior. The pumpkin-cranberry walnut was very good as well but I wish it had more cranberries to add a bit more tartness. The banana bread was great! Considering how many large bits of chocolate are in it I have to imagine it would be amazing warmed up and a little melty. Didn't get a chance to dine in but the seating area looked very inviting - definitely nice for a morning pastry/coffee or an early afternoon snack. Shame they close so early but whenever you can make it, grab a muffin or three - you'll be glad you did!

Liz P.

Yelp
As I eat a warm and fresh-from-the-oven zucchini-raspberry-chocolate muffin, I realized how long overdue I am to post a review of one of my favorite local businesses. George and Eric bake the best muffins I've ever had, so much so that I won't eat muffins anywhere else. The ingredient combinations are unique and inspired. They are Main Street and thankfully located in a neighborhood that won't let Panera in. The best!

Ityng H.

Yelp
The few times a year that I visit Brooklyn, my friends and I stop by this place. The muffins are fresh, delicious, and hearty. I love the fruit flavored ones. Which fruit ones? Every fruit flavored one! Maybe random but when I had a dog, I used to buy her little doggie treats that were next to the register. I think my dog liked them a lot.

Wenn S.

Yelp
Ginormous muffins in assorted flavors big enough to share with your bestie . Love the ones with a surprise of cream cheese in the middle . So luscious and so decadent. Great when paired with a strong cup of black coffee or tea. Don't worry if they run out at the main store as you can also get them at Union Market on 7th Avenue . Shhhhhh don't tell anyone .

Sweet H.

Yelp
Their muffins have some interesting flavor combinations, but we found them to be a little too dense and dry. Heads up, it's cash-only!

A C.

Yelp
I'm a Cookie Monster, & I love Blue Sky Bakery's chocolate chip big cookie. About 5 years ago, I stumbled along to this place by way of Blue Marble at Underhill, they were selling the cookies, but would sell out, so I asked, & they told. I went a couple of twice, but our working hours clash they're closing, when I'm @ work. But if you're a 9a-5per, drop by, and Enjoy!
