Big Tree Lin Kee Steamed Fish Head @Connaught 大树头连记蒸鱼头

This is an old restaurant located in between a housing estate. Old school style cooking, overall quite tasty. The steam fish is pretty good and fresh. Crispy seafood tofu is also quite nice. Chicken wings are tasty. Bittergourd with roast pork wasn’t that good. Can’t expect much for environment or service, it’s not a very clean place, so must be open minded to eat here.

Open only for 5 hours and it's snuck in a small narrow road. The location is exactly where Google maps direction points you so don't get confused like we did. Coming to the food, we ordered cheong cheng steamed fish head, special herbal soup in coconut and stir fried veggies (brinjal, okra, long bean and petai beans). The fish costs about 45 but for that size (can easily feed 4 persons) it's absolutely worth it. Coming to the taste it was perfectly steamed and melt in mouth texture. And the sauce made it even better. Definitely a 5/5. The stir fried veggies in belacan sauce was also really good and a must try . The soup is something I would avoid since we didn't like it much and maybe try something else next time. Overall the food was great and the price is pocket friendly.

Loved the food here. Chicken coconut herbal soup was a winner. Then the veggies were amazing - long bean with pork was delicious. The crowning dish was the ginger fish. Fresh and meaty fish belly. It was the kind of food you eat slowly because you don't want the meal to end. Lovely service and very honest (had forgotten my shades and the staff returned it). The place is charming and ambience is very different from any restaurant I've been to. Our table had a special guest - the resident tree. Bruce the owner was a lovely individual with a pleasant personality. Missed having the bean paste fish - market for my next visit.

Today I wanted to try Fish Head and I came across Big Tree Lin Kee that had an outstanding rating already. The least I can say is that I was not disappointed. It is the type of places, multigenerational families go on their Sunday lunch. That gives a very homy atmosphere to the place. The Steam Herbal Coconut Chicken soup is a must try. The chilly steam fish head is not spicy and is delightful. I like to eat fish with chopsticks as it is easy to pick the fish meat without the bones but apparently everyone use fork and spoon there….. next time I bring chopsticks from home!

Very authentic and unique place for steam fish head hidden located in housing area. the location is non AC, but very well shaded and not hot. Service is fast, staff attentive. Famous for ginger steam and bean paste steam, we tried the ginger steam, the fish is a bit overcooked and ginger doesnt taste very fresh. Vege is nice. coconut soup is superb too. pumpkin bailey is also nice to order. Parking at the housing area so fairly limited.

Every time my sister returns from London, I am forced to come here and have their steam fish. She’s eaten here once a week during her primary school days 15 years ago, and still craves for it constantly. In her words- it hits, never misses, no cap bro. I mean, I don’t even like fish but their signature tofu and sweet potato leaves do slap.

Finally visited Lin Kee after being recommended to it over the years. I'd say it didn't disappoint. The staff were attentive and the food came promptly, so that always helps when you arrive hungry. Not a deep menu with tons of options but for what they offer the kitchen executes the dishes well. The main dish i was there for was the steamed fish (I took the ginger option). All of us enjoyed it. It had just the right flavour, freshness and I'd rate it and overall a satisfying bite. Note: Just relying on Waze gets you close to the restaurant but not directly there as the restaurant is tucked away in a back lane. Use Google maps instead for the exact spot
