"GO HERE: for a wild and whimsical experience in all things chocolate, sugar, flour, and cream. Named for “the most stable form of cocoa-butter crystallization,” Beta5 began by producing chocolate bars and confections, but its creations have expanded to include a line of ethereal cream puffs and weekend experiments in pastry and ice cream. ORDER THE: noodle bar (actually a chocolate bar) with togarashi-spiced peanuts and ramen noodles; mango-passion fruit caramels; Vietnamese coffee cream puff; and whatever special weekend creation they’re featuring, like raspberry-orange brioche ice cream sandwiches and sundaes simply titled Disco. THE VIBE IS: clinical-like but in a good way. It is a fine curated chocolate lab with an all-white sparkling-clean space and a product lineup that changes often. Peek through the windows in the back of Beta5 to watch the team of pastry wizards at work. PRACTICAL STUFF: Open Tuesday to Friday, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Monday. —Lindsay Anderson" - Condé Nast

This is one of the go-to chocolate places in Vancouver. While they do charge a premium for their chocolates, it’s worthwhile for a rare indulgence. They also rotate their flavours often to entice you to return. Worth a visit if you’re looking for a special gift for a special someone, or if you’re in the mood to indulge.

Google
The chocolates are pretty, and they taste good as well. There are milk and dark chocolates with many unique flavors. Highly recommend buying it as a gift or a treat for yourself.

Google
Slowly enjoying our treats and chocolate bars. Chocolates are beautiful. Prices for products are a bit higher than expected and staff there seemed lovely. I didn't enjoy the Vanilla latte special drink though; it tasted more bitter than I expected and part of my plastic cup melted with the pouring of the expresso. I tried to place an order for cream puffs yesterday and encountered issues when navigating the site. Reached out for support but currently waiting for a response.

Google
Beautiful chocolate, perfect gifts, people always really impressed and a large selection of flavors. The chocolates are so pretty you don't want to eat them 😂 I got chocolates from here for my girlfriend before and my mom and they both loved it! The dark chocolates variety box was very good. Can order for pick up on their website to ensure availability.

Google
Handsome looking product. Light on flavour compared to Thomas Haas but far superior to the eye. Miss the old small boxed pistachio pebbles and mint thins. Miss the deconstructed desserts in a Jar. Don't miss the creme puffs. Miss the Meat + Bread bacon chocolate bars. Miss the free peanut butter eggs.

Google
We really enjoyed dropping by before catching our ferry back to Victoria. They're located in a rather unexpected area, but the shop was modern and timeless. The cream puffs were amazing, and the match latte paired with the gorgeous matcha berry was divine. We also had the ramen polygon bar. It was good, but maybe another bar with dark chocolate instead would be more up my alley. Definitely coming back for their seasonal selection in the future, not to mention their amazing front of house!

Google
Very nice bakery! The chocolate is so light, airy, creamy and decadent all at once - very unique and not too sweet! Highly recommend the cream puffs, the chocolate one is out of this world. Getting a box is also fun since you get to try more flavours

Google
Beautiful looking shop in a bizarre location. Incredible and eye pleasing selection of chocolates! Unfortunately, I have a dairy-allergy, but luckily, they did have vegan options. I got the Raspberry/Dark Chocolate and Strawberry/Dark Chocolate; both delicious! Great service from the staff!

Yelp
November 23 marked the last day Beta5 served their iconic cream puffs. I've been enjoying their cream puffs since they first started offering them. I still remember discovering their cookie choux and how its texture stood out from other choux pastries. Initially, they offered basic flavors, but over time, they introduced unique flavors and ingredients that I truly loved. The Cream Puff Anthology started in mid-September and runs until November 23, so I made every effort to visit whenever I could to get my favorite cream puff flavors. I tried the Sesame Miso Ramen, Kinako Mochi, Burger, Cherry Cola, Orange, Salted Egg Yolk, Egg Tart, Ube, Mango Coconut, and Raspberry Earl Grey. All of them tasted amazing! My favorites were: Sesame Miso Ramen: The salty and sweet filling was top-notch. Burger: The lettuce, made of chocolate, was impressive, and the patty part was absolutely delicious. Mango Coconut: The tapioca filling was unforgettable--so good! Kinako Mochi: The mochi slice on top paired unexpectedly well with the cookie choux and filling. My journey with Beta5's cream puffs has come to an end. I really hope they bring back the cream puffs as a pop-up or limited special someday... I wish my dream comes true!

Yelp
I used to come to BETA5 for their cream puffs. Sadly, those are discontinued now. They are pushing their focus to artisanal chocolates. I loved their pastry and absolute creativity with the cream puffs. They were both gorgeous works of art, and a delicious treat that was not too sweet! Their chocolate is good quality but quite expensive compared to other artisanal chocolatiers. I'd only get chocolates here if I found a unique flavour (which isn't uncommon here at beta5) but it's not my go to stop.

Yelp
Ambiance and Decor Beta5's minimalist and modern aesthetic reflects its reputation for refined, innovative confections. The pick-up process is straightforward, with friendly staff adding a personal touch to the experience. Service Quality The staff was attentive and well-informed, taking the time to answer questions about the future of the cream puffs. Despite the bittersweet news, their professionalism shone through, enhancing the overall experience. Menu Variety The Cream Puff Anthology Week 4 presented a delightful mix of inventive flavors, including: 1. Mango Milk Tea: A sweet, creamy indulgence with subtle tea notes. 2. Pineapple Tart: Bright and tropical, with balanced sweetness. 3. Coconut - Pandan: A fragrant and unique take, reminiscent of Southeast Asian desserts. 4. Ube Leché Flan: A standout with its velvety texture and rich, earthy sweetness. 5. Kabocha Spiced Latte: A seasonal delight that captures warm, spiced flavors. 6. Vietnamese Coffee: A bold, caffeinated punch that pairs perfectly with the delicate puff. Each puff featured expertly crafted textures, from the airy choux pastry to the luscious fillings. Food Presentation The cream puffs were impeccably presented, their glossy finishes and intricate designs showcasing Beta5's commitment to excellence. Food Taste and Quality Beta5 continues to excel in combining innovative flavors with impeccable technique. The balance between sweet and savory elements in each puff made them memorable, with standout flavors like Ube Leché Flan and Coconut - Pandan. Portion Sizes Generous and indulgent, each cream puff offers a satisfying portion for dessert lovers, making a pack of nine perfect for sharing or savoring over time. Price and Value While premium-priced, the craftsmanship, flavor complexity, and presentation justify the cost. The experience of Beta5's creations is well worth the investment for those seeking something special. Overall Experience and Recommendation Beta5's cream puffs are a testament to their mastery in pastry-making, and it's bittersweet to bid farewell to these iconic treats. While they'll be missed, their chocolates remain a reliable source of indulgence. For anyone lucky enough to have tasted these cream puffs, it's a memory to cherish.

Yelp
I bookmarked this place as a place with really cool cream puffs and was the reason I made a visit here, but seeing recent reviews and checking their IG page after-the-fact, they are no longer available. They do sell some nice artisanal chocolates, as the name of this establishment suggests, but I feel like the main charm of going here was gone. Only 2 displays full of the chocolate varieties made the store feel a bit empty, so I, and seems like plenty of people, would want a chance at the cream puffs again. Wonder what the other shelves on display will show to make it look less empty and take advantage of the generous real estate? The chocolates look pretty aesthetic and we even got to sample some, and they were solid. It was a bit on the pricey side, 4 for 15, 6 for 21, etc and the larger orders also give a free chocolate bar at the bottom.

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked for years and finally got to try it. I was worried when I learned that they would stop making choux/cream puffs but I was excited they announced a final run during the time I'd be in Vancouver. I had to DM them on social media for assistance with online ordering from the US but they were helpful and I got my order of the mango milk tea, salted caramel, and raspberry earl grey, weeks in advance. I arrived at about 1pm and the puffs were already sold out for the day, but my pre order was ready and beautifully packaged. I also ordered two polygon candy bars, Cookie Monster to give to a friend and queen of hearts to take home. I also tried one of their yuzu chocolates and it was delicious. The puffs were definitely worth the wait! I cut each in half and shared with a friend. We both agreed on which was best. Although all three were good, the raspberry earl grey was my favorite! I'll definitely make the trip back to Beta 5 the next time I'm in the area. Even without the cream puffs, the candy is worth it!

Yelp
These cream puffs were amazing! I placed an order ahead of time online and was able to pick them up for the next day. Online orders were able to be placed up to two weeks in advance. In my order, I got the Fruit Cocktail, Raspberry Earl Grey, Shanghai Fog, and Vietnamese Coffee cream puffs. I gave the Raspberry Earl Grey and Shanghai Fog as gifts so I cannot comment on the taste, but the Vietnamese Coffee cream puff was so delicious! I definitely will be ordering that one again. The Fruit Cocktail was also yummy but I liked the Vietnamese Coffee more out of the two. They are a bit expensive so I most likely will only be getting them on special occasions or if there is a flavor I want to try that is featured. You can see what flavor is featured on their Instagram page.

Yelp
One of the top chocolatiers in Vancouver, they have now grown into a high end dessert cafe. The chocolate flavours are so unique and complex. Receiving a box of Beta5 means you are very special to someone! The cream puffs are also worth trying. They just came out with some Ghibli inspired decorations - must haves for sure. Everything is 5 stars except the price. They know they're good and will make you pay for your addiction!

Yelp
SAKURA SEASON HAS COME TO AN END... Even @beta5chocolates Caught the last of their April 2024 cream puffs a few weeks ago and they were the perfect treat. I love how their cream puffs are never too sweet, and are always made with such imaginative flavours! Their cream puff shells are also perfection--so crisp, puffy, and thin. The bakery/chocolate shop is small but bright and comfortable. There are a few tables and bar seating scattered about where you can sit and enjoy your sweet treats. There isn't much interaction with the staff aside from when you are selecting your cream puffs and chocolates. I do have to say though; every time I come here the staff seem a bit standoff-ish. Not sure if it's just me overthinking things but I've never had a really warm/welcoming interaction with the staff here. It's not a big deal but just something to note, maybe I've just always visited on bad days is all. Will still be back for more cream puffs if I'm in the area! Genmaicha Kinako 8/10 The roasted kinako flavour gave just a hint of nuttiness, personally would've preferred a stronger flavour but it was still delicious! Umeboshi Cheesecake 7/10 Ume really is not my jam...so I didn't like this one as much but the cheesecake inside was delicious Have you guys checked out this unique cream puff spot yet? 8/10 ‍8/10 $$ (approx. $8/puff) Beta5 Chocolates | 409 Industrial Ave, Vancouver

Yelp
Amazing! I'll be honest, I was a bit skeptical coming here as I thought it was just another bougie place that only looked cute but had no flavor. Also since we were coming for cream puffs and not chocolates. Came in a couple hours before closing on a Wednesday and they only had a few cream puffs left. The staff was helpful and advised us to come in the next day in the morning. We did just that and it did not disappoint! The pastry itself had the perfect amount of crunch - haven't had a cream puff like it! The filling of the raspberry early grey was okay. I felt like the raspberry was too overpowering and wasn't able to taste the earl grey as much. However, I do think they're the perfect amount of sweetness! They of course have a variety of chocolates to choose from as well which were good - but I'd come back for the cream puffs!

Yelp
Took an Uber here, and it just looks like industrial area from the outside but they have a couple small signs so just be on the look out. Once inside, it's so cute with a lot of sweet assortments! We were here during an icecream festival so we got their "hotdog" ice cream special for the festival. It was guava icecream and toppings, made to look like a hotdog. It was pretty cool!

Yelp
Beta5 was already on my radar the first time I was in Vancouver, but I didn't get a chance to go. I was hoping to go the second time while I was in Vancouver, but it didn't happen. I made it a point that it was a MUST during my most recent trip. I preordered the cream puffs online to ensure I got the flavors I wanted. The only minor problem I had was it asked me to enter a shipping address even though I'm picking up, and won't let me use my US address. I just ended up putting their address. There is a separate door/area then the one to the main store for pick up. I gave them my order number and was given my box of cream puffs. I ordered the mango milk tea, Vietnamese coffee, and Linzer cookie (seasonal). The Linzer cookie was decorated like a mushroom- cute! I loved all of them! It's best to eat them on the same day, as I refrigerated one of them and it wasn't crispy anymore. The next time I'm in Vancouver again, I definitely will come here again. They have rotating flavors and seasonal creations, so there's always something new to try!

Yelp
Stunningly beautiful, smooth and tasty chocolate. Gorgeous packaging. A huge range of flavours. You can keep coming back to try seasonal flavours too. There's something for everyone. Excellent for gifting or indulging yourself! If it's the choux / cream puffs you want, I recommend pre-ordering online to avoid disappointment! These are truly works of art. Great as a show piece for dinner parties. The shop is a beautiful retail space and cafe! Hidden in an industrial neighbourhood, it's a breath of fresh air stepping into this space. The staff were very helpful in answering our questions and carefully packaging our selections.

Yelp
Maybe best to steer clear? I don't know what happened to this place. Their flavours haven't always clicked with me but their quality was above reproach. Sadly, that's no longer the case. I bought a couple of their Mother's Day 3-cream puff boxes. To my dismay, some of the cream puffs were burnt. There was also something baked into the bottom of one that was either a small hair or a piece of bristle, maybe from a pastry brush. How do you let that product go out? I never thought I would have to examine their pastries in-store before walking away with them. Very disappointing. Their customer service is non-existent now, too. No response to email in a week, no one answers their phone in-store, nor do they seem to return calls if you leave a message. The kicker? They were advertising a 15% off sale on 6 or more cream puffs on their website. I bought 6 in total but received 10% off the price of the cream puffs instead... *EDIT* The business did reach out to me and provide me with a full refund for the cream puffs after this review was posted. It's unfortunate that it seemed to take this review to elicit a response from them, though. If I ever return to the store again, I will revise this review, taking any new experiences into account.

Yelp
- Beta 5 always have very interesting and pretty seasonal cream puffs. For this year's Halloween they have launched 5 Stuido Ghibli themed cream puffs! As a die-heart Studio Ghibli fan I have to get them. However I only got 4 puffs out of the 5. The 4 puffs includes: SOOT SPRITE- Coconut Pandan Cream Puff (CAD $10) CALCIFER- Shanghai Fog Cream Puff (CAD $10) NO FACE- Raspberry Earl Grey Cream Puff (CAD $9) TOTORO- Vietnamese Coffee Cream Puff (CAD $10) The puffs are superrrr cute. Not only they look cute but they also taste good. I always think Beta 5's puff texture is like on point. It's never soggy and I love the light crunch. I enjoy all of the flavors I ordered. I do wish the Calcifer puff has a stronger tea flavor, but it's still very good. I really like the No Face puff, because theres a great balance between the sweetness of the earl grey cream and tartness of the raspberry. I pre-ordered all four puffs when I saw the announcement post. Unfortunately the pre-order is already sold out and the puffs' quality are limited. You might still be able to pick them up at their store but be quick! Today will be their last day of having these really cute puffs. So make sure to go earlier before they are gone!

Dan L.

Yelp
Obviously a nice bakery, but they sometimes close early and literally aren't there and they don't pick up the phone so you can't even call to ask if they'll really be open or if they decided to take off early. If you call, you get a phone tree where they say they often don't pick up the phone because they're so busy (they say you can leave a voicemail but you should email if you have something important). I wouldn't normally mind that, but if you have a shop where people just close up shop early and sometimes aren't there, it really sucks that people can't call to confirm if someone is really there. Of course their phone tree has an option that reads off their hours hours, which you can hear again when you're standing outside the door, wondering why they decided to go home early and aren't open even though their automated message says they're open, but that's just not very useful.

Adelyn L.

Yelp
Cream puffs are delicious but I only really enjoyed 2/3 which is their vanilla and chai. The mango was interesting but didn't love it. The cream puffs were beautiful and you could tell they were made with high quality ingredients, but still a bit on the pricier side. That said, I would still recommend ordering this. My other favorite thing at Beta5 is their chocolate bars. They're beautiful and made with chocolate that's sooo smooth and delicious. I bought over 5 of them since they make for great gifts and travels well but again, super pricey. So why 4 stars instead of 5? While I love the things I mentioned above, I also wasted a lot of money on their chocolate bonbons. They're beautifully crafted and visually stunning --and also how I got suckered, but they're no where as good as the chocolate bars. Personally for me, the flavors of the bonbons didn't work that well and didn't pop for me. I gave a box to a friend as a gift and they were also disappointed as well as they were lackluster and forgetful.

C M.

Yelp
Apparently they are ending their cream puffs to "focus on chocolate". Ridiculous. You can get chocolate anywhere!

Tiffany C.

Yelp
I've never been to their brick and mortar location, but a friend has gifted me these lovely chocolate many times. They have food forward ones which defy chocolate rules, but are amazing nonetheless, such as green curry. Their products are beautiful and thoughtful. If you want something more standard their salted caramel are always delightful! For each holiday they make new and delicious treats, such as purple Easter bunnies that are iridescent , which are almost too beautiful to eat! I've never tried their cream puffs but they look amazing. Their menu is constantly changing so check them out!

Mai H.

Yelp
Unique and insta-worthy cream puffs! I came here for desserts during my last visit in Vancouver and will be returning on my next trip. Can't wait to see their selection the next time!

Mike L.

Yelp
Beta5 has a very unique shop! Tons of creme puff flavors that are pretty exotic and aesthetic. They also sell chocolates and caramels. The cream puffs were amazing. The pastries themselves were crunchy, soft, and airy. The accompanying flavors were also spot on.

Ryan S.

Yelp
This place was such a unique experience! Their display of chocolates is just so appealing to the eye. I tried their frnech chocolate, which had hints of earl grey. It had a very dark chocolate taste that was nice.

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
Beta5 is consistently amazing! Their cream puffs never disappoint! Still crispy, crunchy pastry, with creamy, flavorful, delicious cream inside! Their location has not changed, but they have had an interior face lift! Prior to Covid, they opened up for some small section of sit in dining, but that quickly reverted back. I'm not complaining. When you order to go... I tend to order more/enough to have more than one. More like one whole dozen! They've recently started a points/rewards system too! So don't forget to sign up for that!

Jane P.

Yelp
Omg the desserts here were so good! I am glad I was able to try this place! They literally have the best cream puffs ever. First of all, the cream is so light and creamy. Also, the puffs a light and airy! I love how they have seasonal flavors that they witch out! I can't pick a favorite because all of them are so good! Not to mention all of them are way too pretty to eat! I can't wait to go back to try the different flavors!

Nancy H.

Yelp
I realize I'm late to the party, but I FINALLY made it here, to this highly-ranked chocolatier/chocolate foodie "boutique". And I call it a "boutique" because that's what it feels like: a high-end, exclusive shop showcasing beautiful artisan items. Kinda like a gallery of sorts. All the "wares" here are stunningly beautiful. And all the "wares" here are chocolate! You simply CAN'T BEAT THAT!!!! First of all, this tiny shop is in a gritty, industrial part of town, right off Main Street. It could not be more unassuming from the street. It's located in a strip mall/alley beside other businesses like Glory juice and ServiceMasters carpet cleaners, and there are lots of food trucks in the area, too. There is parking in the alley, with a few spots reserved for Beta5 customers. Once you enter the shop, it's like you've entered another dimension: it's stark and bright white, with the pervasive subtle aroma of sweetness in the air. It's as if you left the grey gritty industrial world outside and suddenly entered a sterile white lab. The sudden contrast in environments is startling. And the shop is so small but so cute, with display counters featuring gemstone-like chocolates in the most fabulous array of glossy colors, and then the "creampuffs" of all sorts of wondrous, delectable colors and flavors (unlike any creampuffs I've ever seen), and then gourmet chocolate bars in all sorts of flavors. There's a wall behind with shelves containing boxes of their famous caramels wrapped in chocolate (I've had these before and I HAD to get them again. If you like caramel, THIS is the best in the city, hands down). They also had tins containing various coffees (the packaging on the tins was super cool). They have a few seats here, so you can order some sweets and/or hot beverages and enjoy them here (they also serve coffees and hot drinks here). And the two guys working here when we visited were super nice and super knowledgable about the chocolates here. Bonus! Note: if you need to get a gift for someone who likes high quality treats, you seriously cannot beat getting the small $13 box of caramels here. They are beautifully packaged and are, without question, the best caramels in the city. There are 6 decent-sized pieces in the box, and - bonus! - under the caramels is a rectangular, flat piece of amazing dark chocolate, lining the bottom of the box. It's like a little extra present! Super gift for someone, without breaking the bank.

Casey K.

Yelp
My only regret about coming here is not getting more choux flavors. I got the chocolate choux and there was chocolate cream inside and a disc of chocolate mousse on top. It was decadent without being overly sweet. Will definitely have to come back and try more flavors.

Alicia L.

Yelp
The cream puffs here are genuinely works of art. They are so unique and beautiful, and made up of so many elements. Stopping by for a box of them is a must every time I visit Vancouver. Some of them, like the chocolate and salted caramel, have a cake layer inside and are topped with mousse. Others are just filled with some type of flavored cream, and topped with more cream and decorative elements. They also have seasonal flavors that I think are switched out every month. I've tried almost all of them, and of their regular flavors, my favorite is definitely the salted caramel. The caramel flavor is so rich and the mousse is perfectly light and fluffy. It's such a unique dessert. $7 CAD is a little pricey for cream puffs, but these are definitely worth it.

Yelp
Oldie Review from when I visited from Oct 2018 Lychee Rose Cream Puff Lychee mousse, rose whipped ganache topped with a raspberry macaron This is as elegant as a creampuff can get! I really enjoy sinking my teeth into the crispy puffed shell melding the sweet aromas and richness of the lychee mousse & rose ganache I especially love taking the raspberry macaron off to nibble on so I can get all these great flavours one mouthful at a time I'm a fan of creamy floral flavours so this was a treat! #betabicecreamsocial is a seasonal event that offers sensory overload crafted sundaes made with local in season ingredients for a limited time Mango Bubble Tea Ice Cream Last summer (2018) I had the pleasure of trying the Mango Bubble Tea sundae featuring mango sorbet, milk tea ice cream, mango compote, tapioca pearls, condensed milk chantilly & Hokkaido milk bread. Remember when I mentioned limited time? Well I got to try what was left over of the ingredients... which was still yummy! I suggest going to your ice cream sundae fix ASAP before they're gone to get the whole sensory experience. I'll be back soon!! Two years later I hope to stop by when I'm in Vancouver again! Yelp
Beta 5 Chocolates is hidden but well known in the city for their gourmet cream puffs and rich chocolates. It is located in an industrial area at 413 Industrial Avenue in Vancouver. This time we tried their seasonal Halloween special - MONSTER SQUAD SCREAM PUFF PACK. It included PUMPKIN PETE, KANDI CORN, and MATCHA MO. I was glad that I pre-ordered it online ahead. They were sold out really fast as usual. They were creamy, fluffy, and smooth. They had the perfect amount of sweetness. Never disappointed! Best dessert in town! Instagram-able! Don't ask me which is my favourite. If you offer me another set of cream puffs, maybe I could have a better judgement. I hope you have a spooktacular weekend! Stay safe and happy Halloween! Yelp
Everytime i come here the service is beyond difficult cant hear anything they say through the plexiglass at all can never understand what they are saying she seemed to get my order wrong without additional instruction they always ask you stupid questions like what your phone number for contact tracing (stupid its not a sit down restaurant) or do u have an account with us and you say no i dont live here and they ask you again do you have an account and you have to repeat yourself and they always want to sell you three cream puffs even if u dont want that many plus they dont have takeaway cutlery saying they dont want u to eat in the store but i dont want to eat in the stupid store and now i have to walk all the way home half an hour to get a fork as they are too big to bite into (or else go from restaurant to restaurant asking for plastic cutlery)

Audrey T.

Yelp
Tasty chocolates! Very aesthetically pleasing. A bit pricey so it's a treat for once in a while.

Judy A.

Yelp
I'm from the states so not sure if things are operating different due to COVID or this is just how the business is ran. Their was just one flavor of ice cream you can order. It had a bunch of delicious toppings and the ice cream itself was delicious!! Although, I found it odd to be just a 1 item on the menu (and dog treats too). The flavors are updated weekly. We got to try peach or mango I forget which one it was but regardless it was delectable! They also have a small cafe next door as well with pastries.

Andrea M.

Yelp
All their creampuffs are out of this world. Their creampuffs never disappoint, and are crispy, crunchy, and flavourful. It's a bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it when you're wanting to give someone a special sweet gift.

Similu L.

Yelp
Shanghai fog.. yummy.. just that the puff is an over baked a bit... the cashier is very nice and reminded me my points too

Mone J.

Yelp
Sooooooooooo freaking good! Everything I got was god tier. The caramels make me want to fly back to Vancouver this instant! The cream puffs are exemplary. 5 star all the way! Beta 5 is located in a more industrial neighborhood not too far from the downtown area. Very convenient and well worth it.

Tracey O.

Yelp
Staff is so friendly and the cream puffs are delicious!! This is coming from someone who would never choose a cream puff as a dessert if there was an option.

Diana S.

Yelp
This is one of my go to spots for treats they never fail. This week got a box of 3 cream puffs as a belated wedding anniversary present for my hubby. He loved the Halloween theme they were decorated in and it was also really fun trying to guess what flavour they were. The staff are warm and humorous. The space is very clean but the only draw back is the parking situation. If you go make sure you bring your credit as they are cash or debit only.

Yelp
We were just at the end of our quick trip to Vancouver and stopped at Beta5 before driving back down to Seattle. I had debated on just saying forget it let's just go straight home. But I'm so glad we stopped here. We stopped here at around noon on a Sunday. Luckily there was no line or a crowd at all. There were also plenty of cream puffs available. My sister and I were in awe with how beautiful the cream puffs and chocolates were. They were super friendly and let us take our time to decide on what we wanted. We ended up getting 3 of the staple flavors: lychee rose, Vietnamese coffee, and Queen of Hearts. We got 3 of the seasonal flavors, Rudolph's Nose (strawberry mousse/milk tea mousse), Christmas tree (Black sesame mousse, yuzu curd, and matcha whipped ganache), and the snowball (raspberry mousse, blueberry compote, and passion fruit curd). It was $35 for 7. We made it back to Seattle and immediately tried them all. The Vietnamese coffee tasted like tiramisu, and my husband really enjoyed it. My sister and I loved the seasonal flavors. Rudolph's nose was our favorite, and we fought over the last couple of bites. The strawberry mousse was fantastic and had the perfect texture. I really likes the Christmas tree, I'm a huge fan of the black sesame and yuzu flavors. The lychee rose was good, a little light in flavor but also not as sweet. It was a super light filling as well. The rest of the flavors were good as well, but the Rudolph's Nose was definitely the stand out. The pate a choux was done so well and had a nice crisp outside layer while still being soft on the inside. The chocolates also looked amazing. We tried the salted caramel as well as the mint one, and they were done super well. I wish we had a chance to come back when they're doing their sundaes, because they look amazing! And I love all the creative flavors. We will definitely be making a stop here again the next time we're in Vancouver.

Nicole G.

Yelp
I've had friends bring pastry boxes to events or have dropped them off at our house. The cream puffs are out of this world. Have you tried their chocolate? Yum! Can't wait to visit in person and see it all for myself.

i love cream puffs and beta5 takes it to a whole new level! each cream puff is decorated so beautifully and the flavours are amazing, not too sweet- just the right amount and the flakey buttery pastry.. so light and so DELICOUS!! unfortunately i didn't get to try the chocolates since they were bought as a gift for my family in toronto but the flavours sounds amazing. they enjoyed it! if you live in vancouver and haven't tried beta5, definitely give them a try since it's apparently only available here :)

Yelp
Years after years I've been coming to beta 5 for not only their notorious chocolate but for their mind blowing cream puffs. This time we got 6 of their magical cream puffs. $5/EA (no tax after 6, so $30 total). * We got their lychee, queen earl green, black sesame, Rudolf red nose, Vietnamese coffee, and chocolate. * My favourite ones here was the lychee and rudolf red nose. So delicious and amazing. The lychee has a super cute and tasty macaroon and I love lychee so it was super delicious . Apart from that the rudolf one consisted of milk tea. That's correct it's milk tea! I loved this one because it was the perfect taste for milk tea and I loved the texture the red nose had . * Honestly if I didn't have to share I probably would've eaten all 6 without any regrets or shame . * I honestly can't wait to go back for more I've been craving it so badly!

Yelp
If I could only eat 1 food forever it would be Beta 5's cream puffs. No, I will NOT be careful what I wish for, I want a evil fairy godmother to curse me right now! I was able to obtain a mango milk tea and a viet coffee. The mango one has a piece of milk tea foam on top that is a succulent plumpy paradise. The viet coffee reminded me of a cross between tiramisu and viet coffee. I'll be back...

Yelp
Situated on industrial avenue, Beta 5 is hidden but well known in the city. They use to have a smaller retail space, but have recently expanded and now have a dedicated retail store front. That being said there's not dine in service. I love them for their gourmet cream puffs and chocolates. They always have interesting combinations. On this visit I got their Vietnamese coffee flavour, mango milk tea flavour, as well as rhubarb and strawberry tart flavour. The cream puff itself has a nice crunch to them. They're also very generous with the custard and toppings. The flavours also come through very strong, definitely no guessing as to what flavour you're having. The only improvement I can suggest is their topping/decorations. The macaron on the Vietnamese coffee was rather dry and hard to chew. Probably been sitting out for too long after they're made. The same is true for the strawberry rhubarb tart. The tart shell was super dry and hard to bite through. When I think of a pasty tart shell, I would expect it to be flakey and crumbly. Overall I still enjoyed my cream puffs. Looking forward to sampling new flavours and combinations their pastry chefs come up with in the future.

Yelp
Thanks to a very generous giveaway, I was able to participate in the TacofinoxBeta5 collaboration summer social! Part of this social was a chance to try the special sundae for the night at beta 5 which came with shaved mint and lime ice with pineapple compote, avocado ice cream, chantilly cream and churros! The flavours all worked together really well and the churros were done really well but being a mediocre fan of pineapple and lime, I didn't adore this sundae. Again, this is a PERSONAL CHOICE based on taste preferences BUT the avocado ice cream was smooth and creamy and the dessert overall was not overly sweet. For those that like these flavours, this would have been a home run!

Yelp
My favorite place to go whenever I visit Vancouver. Everything about this place is amazing. I first had their caramels a few years ago and they were the best caramels I have ever had. I was bummed that they didn't have any the last time I was in town but still loved the cream puffs and the chocolates. I liked how they offered delivery when I was in town. I wish they had a Beta5 in the U.S. :(

Yelp
I have not tried the chocolates, but their cream puffs are the most beautifully crafted cream puffs in all of the lower-mainland. Even more notably, they taste as good as they look! They have 6 standard puffs, and 3 featured ones that change frequently, so you will always have a reason to come back. Their charm, make them perfect as gifts for anyone with a sweet tooth. That being said, don't be shy to treat yourself to one either. It's worth it. You're worth it!

Yelp
If you like cream puffs then this is your heaven. The Vietnamese coffee, salted caramel and chocolate one was delicious. Their unique chocolates were certainly also had the strangest flavours but was delicious. Certainly makes you think that green curry chocolates don't taste as bad as you think.

Yelp
I do not usually like cream puffs, but I was convinced by a friend and my daughter to try these. They are definitely not your typical cream puff! I had the mango milk tea and would have eaten two more if could :) They are a bit pricy, but worth every penny.

Yelp
Easy pre-ordering process. Efficient pick up process. Gorgeous presentation of cream puffs. Excellent flavour combinations. Consistent. Usually they are not heavy handed with the flavours but the recent matcha puff for V-Day was too much. Need more milk and white chocolate bar selections, less dark.

Yelp
I have never been a fan of cream puffs and it might be because I have never eaten a good one before. Well, that has changed. Beta5 makes an amazing cream puff. The cream puff was light and not overly sweet. The puff itself was not soggy either. I also got a croissant, cruffin and some polygon bars to take home with me. What makes this place different is their flavors. Their team is super creative and they make each pastry look beautiful. I came around 11am on a Saturday and they already sold out of some of their monthly/seasonal specials. I don't live in Vancouver but if I did, I would want to come here once a week to try all the different flavors of their cream puffs. This place doesn't have any seating but my friends and I just ate in our car. It's probably best to eat the pastries right away for the maximum freshness. For anyone who loves sweets and is planning to visit Vancouver, I recommend putting this place on the top of your list. You will not be disappointment after your first bite of a cream puff.
