"A Friday morning market where traders sell everything from cutlery to furniture and china to jewellery. It’s a treat to explore and is popular with antique traders, tourists and bargain hunters. The 200 plus stalls also include food, fashion and crafts. Browsing is like going through Fagin’s loot. Get there early or you’ll be disappointed to see traders packing up around lunchtime." - Superfantastic

For buying sterling silver objects of higher quality and variety, I always go to Bermondsey. David and his wife have a stall at this market with very handsome objects at fair prices in excellent condition. I won’t buy silver without first seeing what I can find from David.

Only a few stalls here on my last visit, which was a shame. There are still some very interesting items to be discovered here though. Militaria, coins, silver and loads of odds and sods. It's still worth a visit here.

Good finds and kind people. Some are overpriced, but people are willing to negotiate and explain about the items. Honest opening times are probably 8am-1.30pm. Reccomend if you have an hour to spare on a Friday!

Its actually not bad, though I feel like it used to be better. Definitely some hidden treasures to be found, be it a gift or just looking for something nice to add to your collection of whatever you collect. I'd be careful about buying watches from there though. It's always a gamble could be fake could be genuine. The merchants are all quite friendly and honest, well, most of them lol.

One of the nicer antiques shopping experiences I've had in London. A nice selection of wares at good prices in a quaint little square, perfect detour for a sunny Friday’s morning walk. The market also have some of the nicest vendors Ive met in recent weeks too. Would definitely recommend!

Wonderful market with exquisite silver and other treasure. A gem of a place in London. Don't miss it! Open until 12-1pm.

How lucky am I to have this incredibly special antiques market close by. It has decreased in size since Bermondsey regenerated but remains a market that professionals in the trade visit, some really high quality stuff there. The traders are so lovely, knowledgeable and happy to share all they know. And yes, every time I visit I find myself buying something. If you haven’t been, go discover !

Yelp
Disclaimer that I did NOT get up at ass-o'clock or whatever to go to this market. We got there at like 9am because I was on VACATION thank you very much. So maybe getting up at 4am is the best, as visiting at 9am (A REASONABLE HOUR, THANK YOU) meant that that Square was perhaps 1/2 full of stalls. Maybe the early bird does indeed, catch the worm but I shall never know. Anyway, this Market happens on Friday AM's. There are stalls selling acres of china, silver cutlery, lace and that one stall that sells royal commemorative tat that I salivate over. Not much furniture, mostly small collectible things. There's also a food stall or two, plus a nearby (slightly ghetto) Sainsbury's.

Yelp
This was a wonderful market years ago. I went once, my uncle took me, and I could not believe the number of stalls that there were, so much to see! I found the place enormous and we did not need to go that early in the morning! Years passed by and I wanted to go again, I did not know why I let time pass so much! I could not believe what I saw, I thought I was mistaken but I was not, the place had shrunk, it is not even half of what it used to be! I got there by 10.00am and they were already packing up. I talked to one of the guys who had a stall and told me that I was in the right place, that the Council had bought part of the land to developers and the market had shrunk enormously. I found it very sad.

Yelp
I am being completely truthful when I say that 5am on a Friday is really the only time to go to this market. Because it is an antique dealers' market and not a regular vintage/antique market, deals go quickly. There are hundreds of high quality and reasonably priced stalls selling an overwhelming array of goods. I have only done it twice when it first opens but it is best seen before dawn when you see people examining their goods with torches and the lights from their phones.

Yelp
Normally, I don't really get into antiques shopping, but the Bermondsey Antiques market is quite an experience. For starters, most of the things for sale really could qualify as 'antiques' and aren't just junk from the 70s. For instance: Hand-crafted jewellery/mirrors/lamps/cutlery from times gone by would be antiques. A disco record melted into the shape of a bowl is not an antique. I think the main difference is 'old things that you'd love in your home' versus 'landfill that found its way back to the surface'. As others have mentioned, the prices are quite reasonable. Not everything at the market is an antique, however. You still get little curios such as personalised chops or cards, but these are certainly not the majority. Also, the merchants do really seem very friendly. I was there one drizzly winter's morning, and never saw such good cheer in such glum conditions. If I'm not mistaken, Bermondsey used to be the home to various guilds. The architecture in the area is quite interesting. Lots of the buildings have hooks extending from their façades, presumably for lifting heavy items up or down from storehouses. To me, it felt quite distinct from many other parts of the city. I really love that the different areas of Greater London have retained vestiges of their former selves. Oh, but this was about Bermondsey Antiques Market. If you visit the Tower Bridge, keep going down the road, don't turn back. You'll definitely see something beautiful. Come early, leave happy.

Yelp
Bermondsey Antiques Market is the best place to find affordable antiques and interesting artifacts. Open on Friday mornings, the market begins at 4am whatever the weather. You will find lots of silverware, cutlery, costume and fine jewellery, pictures, clocks and home ware. Alongside specialist antiques there countless affordable pieces. I absolutely love going to Bermondsey Antiques Market, not only because of the things that you can find there but it has a very uniquely laid back and friendly atmosphere. The sellers here do not come across as pushy or money thirsty, as many antiques traders do instead they invite you to spend your time marveling at their collections of antiquities.

Yelp
Just because ive given the market 3 stars does not mean its rubbish. The Bermondsey market is a true antiques market. The stalls are brimming with goods from time past and its unbelieveable about what you can find. 5am is indeed the best time to get there because youll miss all the true gems. The Londond markets proove to me that their better than the american ones,as they have a more friendly, bustling feel and are much less, shall we say 'Arty Farty' However,i do prefer Portobello to Bermondsey for a couple of reasons. The first is obviously for the time. You do need to get up early for Portobello as well, though im usually there at around 7am and still find many gems among the stalls and arcades (There's so many sometimes you get lost!) and the other is the price. As a junior antiques enthusiast,i cant afford much in the way of proper antiques at Bermondsey, while at Porotbello many of the shopowners cut the prices on the things on their stalls. However, having said that, once ive got some more cash to spend,im sure Bermondsey will be a regular, but even then, that classical and mysterious Portobello road really does, for me,make a better experience than Bermondsey.

Yelp
I am a regular visitor for this great Antiques market, not weekly, but every 1 or 2 months at least. It's only opened on Fridays, starting from 7 or 6am, after lunch time, most stalls will close. The market itself is not big, but dealers are friendly, items are reasonably priced and you normally can still bargain. It has a warehouse with a few indoor dealers as well. You can find brooches, rings, silverware, ceramics, paintings, and many other "unusual" objects. Comparing with Portobello Road Market, pricing in this market is slightly cheaper. The Friday-only market is in Zone 1, thus Congestion charges apply, very limited parking space behind the market. Recommend to take bus (No. C10) or walk from either Borough (Norther Line) or Tower Bridge, about 15 min. walking distance either way. I am satisfied with a recently bought Murano glass handbag at 10 pounds.

Yelp
Although no longer know for what it was famous for - the place to go to flog those 'under the counter' sales, and get rid of stolen goods before the sun rose, Bermondsey Market is still an excellent destination to rummage through trestle tables of silver and china, with Victorian cups and saucers starting at £25. Prices are on the high side, but haggling is standard practice. A word of advice-dealers pack u at noon, so the earlier the better to find anything worthwhile.

Yelp
More a beer garden for the local suits than an antiques market, to be honest. Spotted roughly eight merchants on my last visit. You're probably better off checking out Spitalfields.

Yelp
I found a lot of the antiques to be overpriced here. there was stuff going to 200 pounds thats only worth about 90. I didnt see any bargains here and the quality of a lot of the items isnt very good. You also have to be careful that a lot of the antiques are nowhere near as old as they look. Make sure you check the dates they were made on the back. In some ways though its worth seeing as theres quite a lot you can buy and sellers are always willing to haggle.

Yelp
I was very disappointed from Bermondsey market. Very small area. The diverse of items is very limited and very average quallity. The items are also very expensive. Sorry to say but this Markes is a waste of time.
