"The building that Por Vida is connected to is actually a curated network of small businesses and creative studios called La Vecindad (The Neighborhood). La Vecindad also houses Beat Box Records, and a hidden vintage store with some glorious treasures, San Diego Vintage. Bernie started with selling records online and accumulated a big enough collect to open this shop. Their main thing is selling records at prices that make sense, and that are meant to be played. Don’t miss the $1 section in crates on the floor." - Product Etc.

Google
I visited about half a dozen greater San Diego record stores during my trip, and this was my favorite. It is small, but there are gems if you dig. Prices are reasonable and the Barrio Logan area is terrific.

Google
Cool little spot. Love rare vinyl LPs the last few times I've visited the store there seems to be new rare LPs Everytime. I've also scored on some original rock posters from the 60's and 70's grateful Dead. I also have to mention I'm also a toy collector. Definitely love the toy lay out this store has. Awesome record store..

Google
I went here last summer on a visit to San Diego, Beat Box records is an amazing place to go if you want a great variety of music and I found it to be very homey. The store worker was incredibly kind and very helpful. This record shop adds so much to this vibrant neighborhood and I think everyone should take a visit sometime.

Happened to go in needing change for a $100 bill. Couldn’t believe my eyes. What a hidden jewel this place is. Cool store. I could spend hours here. But made a quick buy.

Yelp
Wow wow wow. Stopped by here the other day and I can wholeheartedly say this place is amazing. It's small, but jam packed with a fine collection of records. I perused the jazz section and walked away with 10 records, easily could've been 20. Prices are very fair. Top it off with a young kid spinning obscure disco records as the background soundtrack of hunting. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Not a huge place but super nice people. Came on a Sunday around 5pm. We were the only two people in there which is perfect. The space isn't huge so if you get 5 people in there, it would feel pretty full. There are the singles on the bottom rack and albums on the top. They have a huge selection of Jazz. I'd say that took up 40 percent of their selection. 20 percent of their selection is funk / soul which I think is their next biggest category. And the other 50 percent is split several different ways - hip hop, punk, rock, psychedelic etc. I think this might have been the best value I've seen in San Diego. None of them felt overpriced. There's a lot going on on the walls and tables. You'll easily spend 45 minutes here just thumbing through things since there are a lot of artists you might not have been familiar with. I came away with 3 records - 2 of them from artists I never heard of but I got to hear a sample of their music from the workers and I was sold. Parking is rough since it's in Logan but not too difficult. Might have to find parking on the side streets or in Chicano Park and walk there.

Yelp
Awasome selection of used vinyls, the staff is super chill prices are very good. My favorite record shop in all of sandiego

Fresh M.

Yelp
This was my first time and I spent 3 hours in this smallish shop but I could have spent more time as it was chock-full of gems. I was particularly looking for some Chicano soul as I'm trying to broaden my collection and this shop didn't disappoint. The owner caught on to what I was looking for pretty quick and suddenly was throwing on some obscure rare soul from different countries. I spent about 250 bucks and got over 20 records. His 45 collection is excellent and I ran out of time but I'll be back once the store has some time to turn inventory. Thanks for such a fun Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
Now this is where I go to get the good stuff I've gotten some rear gems from this shop. Know for there Boogaloo titles all the way to old school Latin records tons of memorabilia and good record buying vibes. Have a spending budget or not cause your gonna spend some coin when you vist this spot. Highly Recommended!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Big vibes in here. Small but mighty, this place had just what I needed.... A ton of soul, some rock, and plenty of jazz I spent $50 and grabbed about 7-8 classic vinyls. Ill be back soon

Yelp
Found so many hidden gems in this shop! Owner (I'm not sure if he is, but I'm assuming he's one of the guys/ the person who owns the spot) is nice too. He was always checking in to make sure me and my friend were okay with our shopping experience, and even gave us a discount for some of the records we bought. Can't wait to make another visit soon.

Luna F.

Yelp
Ran across Beat Box Records by accident while visiting Salud tacos...and so happy that I did! It's a small record store but not to be underestimated. I found a Michael Jackson vinyl for $15 and a Lil Wayne single for $5. It made my day to find affordable prices and nice selection. If your in the area, please stop by.

Angie S.

Yelp
I ran into this little record shop on my ear to Salud. My mom had just gotten a record player and I thought I'd be a good idea to check out some records. The guy working there was really nice and even gave us a complimentary mc hammer record! We ended up buying one of the few Hispanic record at the store for 3 dollars! Good stuff, check it out if you're hip!

Bobby K.

Yelp
The selection at Beat Box is fantastic! There are going to be plenty of records that you've never seen in your lifetime that need to be explored. And some that were on your want list. SD is lucky to have a gem of a shop like this!

René G.

Yelp
This is definitely one of the places in SD to hit up for my vinyl record needs! They have a modest selection here at reasonable prices. The guy at the counter is friendly and will let you play anything you find in the bins. I've come away with some cool things from time to time. I'm giving this place minus one star, because the selection isn't as extensive as I'd hope (compared to others I've been to) and a lot of the "new" stuff needs to be priced, before they're ready to be put in the bins. If this guy was hiring, I'd be more than happy to help!

Nick A.

Yelp
Beatbox is a must stop for me whenever I'm rolling through San Diego. Small shop but curated with choice picks constantly from the owner Bernie. Quality record store, top 5 ever, can't recommend enough.

Jessica N.

Yelp
Been by on several occasions. Most recently trying to track down a particular album; and this last visit, a couple of days ago, brought no such luck on the hunt. Le sigh. I will find it... I just know it. Well it was an early afternoon Thursday so there wasn't any one there besides the guy Bernie who's running the spot and a customer. I liked it, more room to roam and dig. Since I still haven't found what I'm looking for--so easy to weave U2 lyrics to damn near anything--I was go around aimlessly trying to find something that I didn't know I needed. After he was done chopping it up for bit, Bernie came through on the recommendations. He showed me records similar to what I'd been searching and even steered me to ones that I would have never thought to even take a listen to which I ended up loving. Had a mean playlist this past weekend thanks to Bernie coming correct, so dope.

Bridget V.

Yelp
Not only is the a sweet ass record spot for the heat but Bernie always has the legit vintage sleaze on deck too! The prices are right. Its well organized.

Neal C.

Yelp
Awesome shop and also centrally located which is a huge plus. Inventory is refreshed almost daily so your always bound to find some goodies . Staff is extremely knowledgeable and professional . Chill place to spend an afternoon digging through great records.

Stan S.

Yelp
Great record store, always has new vinyl. Central location and friendly helpful staff. Art and posters on the walls are great. I will keep coming back. Thanks!

Bob M.

Yelp
Barrio Logan has revitalized and BeatBox Records is holding it's own as a go-to Record Store in San Diego. A little small but with a lot of good Records! Great Titles... wide selection, and friendly, knowledgable staff. I'm a 30 year Collector and I bought a couple of LP's. Lot's of Fun. A good Store.

Rachel D.

Yelp
Nice little shop in Barrio Logan. If you're grabbing tacos at Salud a few doors down mosey on down to Beatbox Records. I went there to buy records for my cousin since I got her a player for Christmas. I ended up buying a couple for myself. Spoiler alert: I don't own a record player. But I was inspired to buy one for myself after coming in. Which I havent done yet. The guy working behind the counter will play whatever you'd like. They also have a dollar section on the bottom shelf so make sure not to miss out on those.

Jason K.

Yelp
Spent three days in SD visiting as many record stores as i could and im so glad i had time on my last day to visit here. Walking from Gaslamp, it was further than i anticipated but what a great neighbourhood to walk through and arrive at. Small-ish store but there was so much goodness, i was glad i had lots of time to go through it all. Great eclectic selection that didnt bust my budget, including new and used. I would totally be here every week if i lived here.

Mae S.

Yelp
Super chill spot! Picked up some great vinyls w my girl. Great service! Can't wait to go back!

Ivan L.

Yelp
This place is awesome the dollar bins are golden and so underrated. If you have time on your hands go through the bottom crates first. The owner is super awesome he will lower the prices on the pricier records if you take a good amount. this store is a must stop in the San Diego area.

Wendy B.

Yelp
Awesome little spot. I see total potential in growth here. Ver informative and friendly. Definitely will come back next time I am in SD. Purchased some great Al Green vinyls, very affordable prices!

Jeff L.

Yelp
A really great small local shop. The owner is super nice and has a great collection. They are reasonably priced (think $18 when most people want $25-30 or $8 when most people have $15-18). The collection is pretty eclectic with most as 70s and 80s but found a lot of good finds (Zappa, Bowie, New Order, etc).

Brandon Z.

Yelp
Great shop! Small and intimate but there are definitely some treasures to be found. And the best part is being that the owner Bernie digs for records himself, the prices are fair.

Mary T.

Yelp
Love this little record shop! Always decent prices and always gems hiding in the boxes. Bernie is a stand up guy with a great eye for what the shop needs. As a bonus there are ridiculous vintage movie posters for sale as well.

Miguel C.

Yelp
Nice finds here. They gave me a great deal on the records we bought. Would stop by here again next time we are in town.

Yelp
Quality affordable used records in a very small but well used space. Located in Barrio Logan across from the La Bodega Gallery, this shop is full of gems. Highly recommended record shop!!

Original G.

Yelp
Awesome place in the heart of Logan. Many great records to choose from for a very affordable price. I am so glad this record store opened, just amazing I recommend anyone to go check it out.

Marsellus W.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic record store! Bernie is always picking top quality records offered at affordable prices. Highly recommended!

Ramel W.

Yelp
Dope people, Dope knowledge dope energy. I always see new things and im coming back soon.

Corey S.

Yelp
owner said "find any you like and well put it on" gotta love that, good variety leaning a little towards hip hop but representing everything.

Daniella F.

Yelp
Found some awesome records at this cool little shop. Prices were excellent and will definitely be back.

Edward N.

Yelp
Whether your a producer, DJ, or just a music lover in general, you will be in love once you step foot in this place. Bernie's taste for music is wide ranging and it shows in the content of the crates! I love going in and conversing with Bernie (shop owner) because I always learn about groups I've never heard of and he takes the time to play tracks for you left and right. Also, there is an awesome selection of original film posters that are cool to check out or purchase! This spot is a must see for any San Diegan or worldwide tourist! Enjoy.

T W.

Yelp
I like supporting small businesses. I LOVE supporting small businesses that sell vinyl. And I wish I lived closer to Beat Box to support Bernie's business more frequently. Don't mistake the relatively small square footage for lack of content. He works hard to have a supply of cool stuff and works harder to bring the deals to the consumer. Hands down, the best dollar bins in San Diego County. Keep up the great work!

Ahmed A.

Yelp
For all the wicked records, jam parties and all-around good vibes, its 5 BIG stars for Bernie and Beat Box! Whether bargain digging or high-end collecting, you'll have alot of fun cruising the shop. A staple in the Logan community!
