"Nowhere is the West End’s diversity better reflected than at Bayside Lounge on a Saturday night. The 36 year old bar attracts and celebrates people from all walks of life. "For years, the Bayside Lounge existed in a strange little bubble. Cool because it was a bit uncool and unapologetically dated, it was, perhaps, the Norma Desmond of local lounges—a ironist’s place to hang out before irony fell out of fashion. Today there are classic cocktails, sure, but the bartenders aren’t above putting their own spin on a few longtime favorites; a Cucumber Collins, for example, or a Cosmopolitan made with raspberry vodka. There are also several variations of the Caesar cocktail, the Canadian equivalent of the Bloody Mary." - Guy Saddy

Wonderful Mother's Day experience! Beautiful patio and amazing views. All of our dishes tasted great! Tuna bowl and salmon ragu were delicious. The complimentary mimosa was a nice treat! And even complimentary dessert! Our server, Sid, made it a very pleasant experience.

Came for a date night tonight as we had been recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. The cocktails were delicious, and the vibes inside were great. Also the server, I think it was Rabia was great. She gave some really good recommendations and was extremely friendly. Will definitely be coming back

Google
One of the best venues for a drink at sunset in Vancouver. It’s a classic retro vibe and super comfy. We had great service. We were a party of six with reservations. We ate and drank for three hours, and had separate cheques. A great all-round experience for our group. Not a wide variety of beers on tap, but the Hoyne’s Dark Matter was good. Highly recommend 🍻

Google
imagine if a nerdy mojito grew up in the tropics but like, spent time with the cool ragtag coconut kids. this drink tasted like someone whispered “chill out bb” into a glass and then served it to you on a patio and then gave you a lil’ forehead kiss. i took one sip and fully dissociated. like i saw my past lives. i saw my future generations children. i briefly spoke to them and they were like “damn grandpa this is good af” and now they’re thinking of TAKING IT OFF THE MENU????? no. be so for real. you’re gonna invent THE drink of the season, a beverage that singlehandedly made me believe in intimacy again, and then just. retire it?? grow up. keep the cocojito. (side note: if you take it off the menu i will start showing up with my own ingredients and making it at the table. try me.)

Google
Bar is such a vibe. Went on a rainy Sunday and it was packed. All the servers were so attentive I think Danica was our server and she was amazing!. Kept checking up on us and making sure we were all good. Think it’s newly renovated also… Such a good spot. 100% our new local.

Google
I love the trivia on Mondays; it’s so much fun! There are a lot of cocktail options, and all of them are really good. The food is great; I recommend any of the burgers or the pan-seared salmon. Also, their happy hour is worth it. The servers are very friendly and helpful, ensuring that you have a great experience.

Google
Amazing food and drinks with nice ocean view. You have to try at happy hours!

Google
Great atmosphere but the charcuterie board was the worst I have ever seen in terms of presentation! The really offputting thing for me was the fact that an automatic tip of 20% was added to each persons bill (there was a big crowd of us), my friend added a tip on top not knowing the tip was included and the waitress said nothing. I have heard of this happening before here so watch out!

Yelp
I do like the vibe here, very 70s retro! I will say for a Saturday night the choice in DJ was not great. The views of English Bay are stunning however, it is still Vancouver and these beautiful views were competing with police sirens the night we went. Good selection of cocktails and bar food and great service. I will try their happy hour next time.

Yelp
A friend and I decided to stop by here as we really liked what we saw on the menu online. We got here in time for happy hour. There was a decent amount on the happy hour menu and the prices were pretty good too. The food was super delicious for bar food. I would love to go back again to try other items on their menu. Great service. Our server was wonderful. Do keep in mind this isn't a super fancy place and it isn't overly big either. The restaurant is set up where when you enter, you there's a few casual tables to the left to sit. When you go further down, the places turns in to a circular shape with the bar in the middles and tables surrounding it.

Ekaterina K.

Yelp
This place can range from very good to okay, depending on the DJ playing that evening. The food is yummy, and the cocktails are fantastic. The venue was recently remodeled, but the DJ booth is now in an odd spot, and some of the decor feels a bit off. However, the ocean view is amazing, the atmosphere is romantic, and I especially love going there on Thursdays when my favorite music is playing. This is probably one of the top spots to go on a date.

Yelp
Have you ever been in a nightclub and wished you could sit down and just have some food? That's what this place is like. It's a low-key, casual, busy and mood lit atmosphere with fair drinks, pub grub and hard working servers. It's got a great view of English Bay if you're sat by the window, and the spherical bar is fun. I think what could've been better was the music. Maybe their DJ was just starting out? He did sound like he was new to mixing music, which was a shame as we were sitting by the DJ booth. If the mixes had been better, we would've stayed longer and most likely ordered another round of drinks. I would consider this place as possibly my second or third stop on a night of bar hoping, but not a place I'd have dinner and my first round of cocktails. Just personal taste.

Yelp
Popped in for a quick bevvie and appie on Valentines Day late afternoon and was able to grab a nice spot. Refresh looks great and thank goodness they did not touch that epic classic bar! Servers always great even with my company and I both making non-alcoholic choices. Chicken Karaage was crisp and moist - perfect!

Yelp
When I came in, the place was packed! There were only one or two tables left at the time my friends and I came in. And this was when happy hour was ending at 6pm. decor/ambience: First thing I noticed when I came into the pub was the loud retro music from the 60s and 70s. I felt like I was at an old disco club without a dance floor and all they had was a bar. The decor is definitely dated. I felt like I was in the 80s or earlier. The chairs and booths are dark plush leather and the tables are solid wood. There was a big bar in the middle of the dining area where liquor is served with stools all around it. They have large windows surrounding the place and you can clearly see the street overlooking the beach. The decor was retro-ish yet plain. I'm indifferent to retro disco decor stuff because I was born way past that era. The tables are not very clean because the table my friends and I sat at was noticeably sticky. service: The staff was pretty friendly and nice. She answered our questions pretty clearly when we asked about the dishes they served. Our server was like a busy bee being all over the place moving quickly serving table to table. There were just two servers at the time for the packed bar. The wait time for the food was longer than expected. My friends and I must have waited for around 20 minutes or so. I understand the place was packed so they had to make a lot of orders at once but at least the server could have acknowledged that we waited for a relatively long time. I ordered two dishes: the BC wild salmon and the sweet and savoury braised beef. Both were $18. BC wild salmon: The wild salmon came with veggies, lemon herb quinoa, and a bit of citrus salsa. Presentation wise, overall it looks pretty colorful and nice. I'm glad the salmon was de-boned quite well because there weren't any bones in it. I feel like the salmon was simply baked and it lacked seasoning. All I could smell and taste in the dish was the salmon fillet. It was covered in a pinkish radish vegetable. I might be red radish relish. The radish relish didn't really add any flavor, but more for presentation. The fried salted zucchini and the salted cauliflower were salted well. The quinoa was drier than I liked. It was slightly overcooked, lacking moisture. Overall this dish was just OK. I wouldn't order it again. Sweet and Savoury Beef: The braised beef came with gravy, fried salted zucchini, salted cauliflower, and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were soft and well seasoned. It actually wasn't bad at all, flavor wise. The zucchini and cauliflower were cooked well and seasoned well. The beef was soft and tender. There was just a little bit of fat on it. I'm not a big fan of the gravy though. It didn't quite match the flavor of the beef as I had hoped. Maybe I didn't have braised beef in a long time but i didn't like the aftertaste of this dish. Maybe I should have bought a strong beer to mask it! Overall, in my opinion, it's another mediocre dish that I can't recommend ordering again. I can't comment on the liquor as we didn't order any drinks, just water. The water was fine. It was iced and tasted like a cool, clean glass of water. closing thoughts: At the end of the day, If you just come for the food like I did, you will find it very mediocre. The dishes I ordered were cooked well but it lacked the nice flavors I hoped it would have. Everything from the food, to the service, the decor and ambience was just OK. I give it a 2.5 stars out of 5 rounded up to 3 out of 5 because the yelp rating system doesn't let me give half stars.

Yelp
Solid place for happy hour! I would recommend grabbing a table between 3pm and 6pm (we arrived at 3:30pm and there were plenty of tables available). They have beer and high balls for only $5, some fun cocktails on their happy hour menu (see pic for the Cosmo and refreshing cucumber Collins). Their seasonal cocktails are DELICIOUS! another plus is you have a perfect view of the water without actually having to be on the crowded beach (yes, this is totally my vibe haha). The servers are so nice. My group of friends really enjoyed our experience there. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Living in the neighborhood, the Bayside Lounge is definitely one of my wateringholes. I'm pleased to say that over the last couple years this place has grown on me more and more and has continued to improve. It's often cold out, but it's not freezing in the Bayside Lounge anymore (i have a few chilly memories). The temperature seems much better controlled these days. Dope bartenders keep the booze flowing; Dez, Hugo and Patrick always have my back. The service has been consistent and friendly and I know most of the staff by name now. The staff at Bay work very hard and it is often the bartender also serving tables, so please try to be patient. The cocktails are yummy and creative, I just wish they had the big ice cubes to make Old Fashioned and Sezerac with more classic style. Prices for the cocktails are some of the most reasonable in town. $11 for an Old Fashioned and Burbon Sour, $13 for Sezerac. They also have a crazy yummy selection of Ceasers to choose from!! The current drink special is the Great Gatsby and its flippin' awesome. This is a cocktail made with burbon, spiced rum, cognac marnier, walnut bitters and burnt orange peel and cinnamon. This is a must try if you like your cocktails flavourful and stiff! Bay offers daily drink specials as well so make sure you check out the website. HAPPY hour is daily from 3-6pm. Cheap wine and highball (as low as $4). Unfortunatley, with COVID the menu has changed a lot and is a fair bit smaller and they no longer offer food discounts for HH. With the new menu I have tried the Salmon burger and it's quite tasty. The new mango gouda chicken burger was a winner as well and I was impressed the fried (love fries)!!! MY personal fav is their NACHOS!!!! These are always on point and some of the best in city. A full order of nachos is enough to feed 3 people, especially if you add chicken (very generous portion). They offer 1/2 orders as well, perfect for a twosome to munch if you're not that hungry. I have also tried the Quatro cheese dip, but its kinda boring to be honest. It needs some pizza in there, crab or something. The view from Bayside's lounge has to be one of the best in the city, especially during twilight! Usually bayside is open quite late and is one of the few late night options in the west end, but with COVID-19 all the bars are closing at 1030 now.

Yelp
I've always wanted to visit here.. very dated. It 'smells old' great location but needs an upgrade

Shannon A.

Yelp
The Bayside Lounge is a hidden gem in plain site- it's got an old school, vintage vibe with low slung seating and a killer view of English Bay. Part dive bar, part comfortable local- the staff are warm and friendly, with a mighty shout out to Justin - who is just about the sweetest and kindest person you'll ever meet. The happy hour is a riot with great deals on cocktails, beer and wine and some seriously delicious appy's - the ahi tuna wonton crisps are otherworldly and a steal of a deal. It's the charming, low key antidote to pretentious cocktail lounges with outrageous price tags.

Maria-Pia D.

Yelp
I would give 3.5 stars if possible. I have come here off & on over many years. It's hit n miss with the food. But drinks & views are fab, that's what you go here for! They have one of the best happy hours for pricing ($4 wine) for the Davie/Denman corner. With so many options around this area to choose from, I like this one because it's on the second floor, you're on a corner with a nice view of English Bay, and they have a classic circular bar. This West End bar/lounge is not pretentious or hipster or trendy, everyone is welcome. That's what keeps me going back over the years.

Toby M.

Yelp
Was there a week ago with my wife for happy hour. Extremely disappointed in the food quality. We ordered the brussels sprouts and steak bites. The brussels sprouts were burnt leaves stuck in a bowl. There wasn't a brussel sprout to be found. As far as steak bites go there was only remnants of probably someone else's meal before us. A bunch of battererd whatever, that was deep fried with no hint of any real steak. We have been going to this establishment for 20 years. Will not be going back anytime soon.

Chris C.

Yelp
Went for the dinner and movie deal as part of Evo summer cinema in Stanley Park. It's a great deal, and have been to Bayside Lounge a number of times, but always just for drinks. This place has location and a nice view of English Bay. Sat at the bar, and ordered from the fixed menu that was part of the deal. First of all, the place is very tired - and it's starting to show, but it's fine. I'm used to being there when it's dark and late so never really noticed before. Service was decent, food was better than expected, but also a bit dated. I wouldn't really consider this a dining destination and will stick to drinks, but for what it was, it met/exceeded what I was expecting!

david s.

Yelp
Used to have a good happy hour menu but not lately Cheap drinks $4/ wine/ high ball Lots of staff change over. With some friendly staff while a few are stoic for reasons unknown

Wilson L.

Yelp
Had a great time at the Bayside Lounge for dinner. The food was pretty good and the service was nice. The drinks were super good too, tons of cocktail options. Definitely would come back again!

Carolina S.

Yelp
Probably one of the best happy hours in town. $1 oysters on happy hour. Great drink prices. Best views. Excellent staff.

Lou I.

Yelp
The service here is terrible. We went there due to our search for raw oysters in the west end. Despite reading the bad reviews we thought we'd give this place a chance. We walked in and were seated by a nice gentleman. A blonde server smiled and welcomed us as well. Before this experience starts I would just like to say I wish we had any other server BUT our server because everyone else looked so nice. The server with dark brown/black hair (wish I got her name)came to our table asked us if we'd be eating or just drinks, plopped the menus on the table and stood there looking at us with attitude like she didn't want to be there. I'm assuming she was staring at me this way because I was looking at her as well- but for some sort of response to us like "welcome my name is.... here are your menus let me know if there is anything I can help you with I will be right back to check on you" anything along those lines.. but nope ! Just a stare down a raised eyebrow and walks away shaking her head in annoyance. Anyways moments later she finally comes back and takes our order of food alongside drinks (because it took so long we had to order all at once or who knows when she'll come back) I ask her what the oysters at the moment are and she replies "they're just oysters" I say "what kind?" She says "the regular kind like normal oysters" ... so I asked her to go ask someone who knew. She asks the bard tender which points to a sign literally beside her to the left and she reads it out loud then points there. How do you work somewhere in which you don't even know what you're serving each day? And the way she responded was with such an annoyed tone of voice as if I'm bothering her for asking what I'm ordering? She could just nicely say "I'm not sure but I will get right back to you with the answer" I'd be like great! Not everyone remembers everything but a nice attitude and willingness to help would be awesome. The last point I would like to add and I've been in customer service management for a long time .. LIFE HAPPENS we get it sometimes it's just SUPER busy or you had a BAD day .. BUT that is not the customer fault. A customer comes in with an open mind hoping to be given friendly service. If you're swamped just apologize for the delay during tonight's service due to whatever the reason may be and be nice and I'm sure no one would ever write a bad review. The total time there was almost TWO HOURS yes TWO hours for a dozen oysters, some cured meats and cheese and two drinks. Please educate your staff! :)

Karen F.

Yelp
Great service, happy hour was hopping with nice wine on the menu, as well as other cocktails. Nice view of English Bay. Definitely will go again

Lexi K.

Yelp
Very yummy dinner and drinks, fun vibes with party music, and awesome window seating above the bay. Not somewhere to go for a quiet dinner, but fun if you're looking for a more upbeat vibe!

Fawn C.

Yelp
Love this restaurant, they also have awesome dishes for happy hour, specially Oysters and charred Brussels sprouts ..

Herman E.

Yelp
Rolled into here at 2AM one Saturday nite since this is one of the very few lounges open into 3AM. Music is kinda loud. Atmosphere is kinda dark, so I can't see what the décor is like. The place was busy. Busier than what I was expecting. Aside from Fantacity, this is another place that is open past 2AM in the morning if you need a drink, such as myself binging into the late hours, and didn't want to sing. Prices are reasonable. Space is kinda tight. Mixed crowd. 70's disco music was playing that night. Street parking is in abundance everywhere, especially at 2AM Likely another repeat performance from me in the near future.

BB G.

Yelp
Great local spot! Servers are super friendly and good at their jobs. Kinda dive bar ish but that's what makes it fun. Cool atmosphere and always a good crowd on weekends, but not so crowded that you can't get a table.

Emma E.

Yelp
Been before for drinks and it's been great, but bad experience lately. Slow. Waited 15 mins outside to get seated as host had popped out so nobody to greet us and the folks ahead. Long waits between drinks, got double didn't ask for, food very slow coming out and just okay when it did. Also waited for 20mins to try catch someone's eye to order a desert then gave up... think staff were bit embarrassed about the wait. The layout of the bar and the location are great though, and they do have a big menu on offer for everyone

Dane C.

Yelp
Hi Bayside, I'd like to make a reservation for tonight at 9. I'll be with blonde companion. Lounge seating is fine. As per previous post, we will be drinking alcoholic London peppers. I would advise you to have pepper shaker full and make sure server is aware of our presence . Dane

Jacob D.

Yelp
Great happy hour prices on both food and drinks. Had the 6.49 breakfast special 2 days in a row and you cannot go wrong: 2 pieces of toast (numerous choices of bread), 2 eggs (any style), bacon, sausage, or ham (although my BFF said the ham was really bologna), and hash browns. Service was great and servers are friendly, too (if not overly). Oh, handsome waiter, too LOL!

Sam L.

Yelp
After a bike ride around Stanley Park, my wife and I were looking for a place to wet our whistles, and there was the Bayside Lounge. I hadn't been in several years so up we went. This place has not changed a bit since the first time I went probably close to 20 years ago, and I'm guessing it hasn't changed much since they first opened. The view is amazing and the food and drinks are ok. Something was wrong with their taps so they didn't have draft beer, so I had a couple bottles and my wife had wine. We shared the charcuterie board and the octopus salad, which they forgot about. The charcuterie board is a huge amount of food for $12! Although it's Safeway quality meat and cheese, it's still a pretty good deal. When it came, the octopus salad was a bit weird. The meat was in strange looking disks which were still frozen. It almost looked like an octopus terrine which was then sliced. The flavour was ok, but I doubt I'd order it again. Given the prime location of this place, I'm actually surprised it hasn't been bought up and redeveloped, but I'm glad it hasn't, this is a neighbourhood fixture, warts and all.

Matt V.

Yelp
somehow this place has escaped every renovation from 1970 on, in a good way. This place is almost a time warp, with an awesome location, awesome views and awesome service. I think I am going to say it....I LOVE this place! : )

Emily C.

Yelp
We were excited to go to a place that was not packed a few hours before Celebration of Light but we were thoroughly disappointed by not only the service, but the food. The server was kind but not attentive, whatsoever. We ordered nachos with chicken at $21 - and it was awful. Very little cheese, cold chicken and black beans straight out of a can. We would never recommend this to anyone traveling through or desiring a bite to eat.

Ashley S.

Yelp
The only reason I've ever come to The Bayside Lounge is for drinks with a lovely view of English Bay. Their drink menu is huge! They have 6 Caesar varieties alone- that says a lot! I've tried a few of these, and they do differ slightly, each with their own unique twist. There are tons of cocktails and martinis to choose from, and of course a fair menu of beer and wine. If you're not in the mood for a cold drink, they also offer coffees which of course contain alcohol. Their prices aren't too bad, but if they're still too high for you, the Happy Hour drink menu is very favorable and includes a better range of choices than most places. The Bayside Lounge has a chill vibe, and in my opinion is a good place to stop by for a few drinks before or after having dinner elsewhere. Even better is if you can catch the sun set while you're there!

Esther G.

Yelp
During the day, it's all old folks, like the two men sitting up at the bar, or the woman reading her book on her "Reserved" table, not sure what that was about. It's a good location than any of the other places around here because it's upstairs. I definitely got that "lounge-y" feel but I have no idea what this place is like at night. They also have the same menu as Checkers, or what's The Park, now. I had a long island against my better judgement because there's only one place in, I think, the world that makes the best long islands. But this one wasn't bad! A little too much of whatever sour mix was used. I had a pretty good burger.

Ricki-marie P.

Yelp
The worst service in town. I walked into this establishment, Stood at the entrance for 3 minutes as server after server passes by, not acknowledging me. Eventually a guy says sit anywhere, I go to ask him if there a table for six. He doesn't hear me so I start making a circle around the bar. I again say, I need a space for six. He just points down the stairs. So I proceed to where he pointed. Sat there for 7 minutes before anyone asked me what I would like to drink. It was hard to get our servers attention. We were constantly waiting and waiting and waiting..... at the end of the evening we received our bill, they added 20% gratuity, which was very presumptuous! it was only a table of 6!! Generally it's a table of 8 or more its automatically added. So I told her I'm not paying 20%, but I'm willing to pay 15%. THE ATTITUDE we got from her was outrageous. What makes you think you're entitled to MY money. The money I actually worked hard for ? 15% was generous for how awful you were. She tossed the receipt on the table and walked away without even saying thank you. I wished I tipped nothing. We will never ever return.

Epowz E.

Yelp
Came here for the first time as I moved to the area. Wanted hangover brunch and it did not disappoint. Simple brunch options yet tasty. Got the hash and added Hollandaise and it was delish. Stayed into happy hour which has great food and drink options. They have many different Caesar choices too so will be back to try those. Service is sub par but that is the vibe of this laid back establishment. Cool place with good views. Would be nice for the sunset too.

Ken H.

Yelp
Just walked around Stanley Park and found this gem. I understand they have just renovated and new menu being developed. Food was excellent and service was fantastic. Will be back!

Sarah S.

Yelp
It seems like this place wants to be an upscale lounge kind of place, but also doesn't really want to work very hard at it, so the vibe comes across somewhere between dive bar and lounge. To access, we had to go up some unmarked stairs to find the door to the right. Once inside, the room is circular, with many windows to view the bay. Really nice view and probably worth it to pop in and watch the sunset here. Our server was nice and helpful, but extremely busy as she was the only one serving the entire place. Not a large selection of beer (more bottled, only 3 on draft). My friends who got mixed drinks said they weren't very good. We did get an order of their garlic fries, and those were some of the best fries we had ever had. They have nightly specials, happy hours, and other miscellaneous deals. Drink prices were reasonable. If I lived in the area, I might come back but probably not often.

Nicole B.

Yelp
I booked the Bayside for a casual, intimate reception for a friend's wedding on a Saturday afternoon, just last weekend. Dez (the manager) was so incredibly accommodating and helpful through the whole booking, answering all my annoying text questions and emails! The day of staff were all rock stars - all our guests had the best time and everyone commented on how great the food was, how nice the staff were, how beautiful the view was and just how comfy the venue was in general. They are amazing! And ps. Do yourself a favour and order the Grilled Cheese Dippers.

Wanda H.

Yelp
Great spot for sunset but terrible waitress. The table was, dirty and she just plonked the menus on top of the meds from the previous customers. Sad. Send her back to server school.

Katy C.

Yelp
The bayside lounge is a beautiful location, the drink Selection is vast and the food is relatively cheap. Also who could say no to a view like this! The seats are comfy and it's relatively quiet. However I have one major complaint about this place- and that is - the wait staff was terrible. Our waitress paid no attention to us. When we asked her any question she was passive aggressive and very unfriendly to us. I was so dissapointed because everything is so lovely about this place except for this one glaring problem. Too bad so sad. :-(

Allen H.

Yelp
Service slow, and reluctant. Been here for almost an hour, still waiting on entree. not busy or anything. wings were ok.

adam m.

Yelp
A fantastic bar. Not fantastic because it's actually fantastic, but because of the combinations of things many of which aren't fantastic at all. Let me explain. It sort of feels like the foreword bar on an old Star Trek ship, filled with tired space engineers and general starship support staff, worn out, waiting for their trek to be over. Mix in some LA bar filled with broken dreams, lonely men staring into their drinks, the occasional escort pickup by an out of town businessman, a few cougars clucking into their wine. Everything feels used, and sometimes that's more comforting than you realize. The view is amazing, and it's surprisingly out of the way while somehow being right in the centre. It leads one to picture that everyone there is up to something, that The Bayside Lounge is this place where these dark lives overlap with the regular rest. Eavesdropping on the next table will reveal crumbs of the underworld, an arms trade or spies exchanging data - these things happen every day - and I'm convinced that they happen at The Bayside Lounge. Highly recommended.

No Es B.

Yelp
We received a Vancouver Entertainment book as a gift, there was a bayside lounge coupon that we decided to use We were there at happy hour and tried the drumetts that are better than chicken wings, and the mussels which were amazingly succulent! Other restaurants could use a tip on full mussels they were huge, and the sauce to die for, we had a couple of drinks. I asked Phil can I use the coupon? if he were to have said not on a busy night we'd be okay b/c we used to be regulars and always loved the view and the food! "that's what it's there for" he said plus you can't use it on the steak even though my coupon was for equal to greater value Phill started on about tax, even though he said we could order the tuna at the same price. I ordered the steak anyway. We ordered more drinks since we weren't driving, invisible Phill than decided that he would not come around anymore, passed right over our table after asking tables around us if everything was okay. This sweet French man who was sitting at the bar, came up and apologized. I asked a lovely waitress for the manager, and to my surprise it was a hardworking young man who was rushing around he apologized said that there was no rule about using the coupon on the steak and bought us a round. Thanks young man! My husband ordered the salmon which he thought was nice, the steak was made to my liking very nice tender, juicy. Congrats chef. I know it's annoying using these coupons and people don't want to deal with them but it's not like we went there and ordered water and shared a plate, we spent money. Defiantly will go back ( without an entertainment coupon)!

Yelp
My friend and I were looking for a lunch spot on a rainy/snowy afternoon and ended up at Bayside Lounge because of an entertainment book coupon. Upon arrival, we noticed it was very empty inside, but for a Sunday afternoon with crappy weather, I suspected a lot of people would be staying home. The waitress greeted us warmly enough and brought a couple of menus over. The service was pretty much downhill from there. I ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken and a glass of soda water. My friend had a clubhouse sandwich with yam fries and a pint of beer. My soda was mostly ice and I finished it quickly but waited forever to get a refill. Finally had to flag the server down. When the food arrived, my friend's plate had regular fries instead of yam fries so he mentioned this to the food runner, who in turn, went to the bar and checked with our server - she confirmed and the girl left with his food. The server did not come over to apologize for the mix-up or even acknowledge the situation. My salad was fine, although it had WAY too many onions. My friend's clubhouse finally arrived (cold now) with yam fries. He said it was decent enough. After another refill on my soda, we handed over the coupon and asked for the bill. After looking it over, I saw that I was charged for 3 pops. At no time did she say "refills aren't free" - it's ridiculous that she wouldn't mention that when I asked for a "refill". Pop and coffee are very commonly free refills and should be mentioned if otherwise. My friend put his credit card on top of the receipt and we waited for the waitress to take the payment. She walked by our table three times and looked at the card on the table but said nothing. Finally, I checked the receipt to see if it said to pay at the bar, but there was nothing there. When he asked, she said to pay at the bar which was literally right behind him. He only had to turn around - but she failed to say anything the three times she walked by. I guess having been a server and bartender for 15 years, I have higher expectations than most because I thought this waitress was useless. If I were paying the bill, I wouldn't have tipped more than $1 since all she did was bring our drinks - and even then, we had to wait an unreasonable amount of time, seeing as how there was no more than a dozen people there. I'll definitely not return here. The two stars are for the view and the food - the server gets a zero from me.

Yelp
Considering the number of bars that I can choose from on Davie, my default is always Bayside Lounge. The throwback decor and low ambiance reminds me of time gone by and I can sit there and just daydream of when Bayside was in its hey day. If you love Caesars, you'll love Bayside, they have a whole list dedicated to it. Service is usually great, if you're lucky you get the veteran servers who knows exactly when to offer you another drink. I would not suggest eating there unless its just munchy food like fries or chip and dip. Probably the best lounge to go and catch the sunset off the beach, good drinks, good prices, mostly good service.

Yelp
Service was fine, yam fries were good, drinks reasonably priced. My friend and I ended our evening with shots at the bar with friendly random strangers, ah if only this could happen every Friday night.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years now. Very chill place with friendly servers and some cheap drink specials. Awesome view as well on the corner of Davie and Denman overlooking English Bay. I've never been here on a weekend but it's supposed to get crazy busy. I'm usually here on a weeknite and it's never really that crowded and the big thing is it's open til 2am. The menu is pretty standard pub fare and they also have live dj's as well....check it out!

Yelp
Went for Dine Out and even for $18 was severely disappointed. My appy was great! Warm Brie with roasted garlic, I was hopeful. I ordered the steak medallions and even with my all my strength an force struggled to cut through my steak. My dessert tasted like mouthwash. Other than that the service was pretty bad. She served us to take our drink and dinner order at the beginning but then had to be flagged down to order more. She never once asked how our food tasted. They brought our courses out without the previous ones being cleared, I had to stack everything. I'd go back solely for drinks but wouldn't eat there again! It has a cool and cosy ambience that drinks would suit but not good for meals, even with the dine out pricing.

Yelp
This place has been around for a long time. Probably could use another renovation. It feels old. Food isn't the greatest. Drinks are ok. Usually just have beer. There is a view of English Bay from the pub.

Yelp
This place is great! My friends and I try to go as often as we can. The martinis are out of this world...yum! Also, the sunsets and view are so beautiful to watch while snacking on appies and having drinks. They have regular pub-style food but lots of options for people who don't eat red meat or poultry (like me). The salads there are great and so are the crab cakes. My husband especially likes the sliders (mini-burgers)...he says they're super tasty. They play house music which is really nice if you like that kind of thing because most pubs etc tend to play rock or top 40 which doesn't really make you feel like you're in a lounge. The Bayside feels like a true lounge. Yes, the decor is a bit dated for sure, but it still has a really nice feel to it :) Definitely the best place in the westend to have drinks and watch the sunset! Leanne

Yelp
For such a high density neighbourhood there really aren't a lot of places to grab a drink after work in the West End. Bayside Lounge is my favourite by far. Not only do you feel like you're sitting on the bridge of the starship enterprise, you get beautiful sunset views (when not pissing rain of course), reasonably priced drinks and unpretentious service and atmosphere. I've never had more than the nachos but I've also heard the food is pretty decent. If you're lucky you can also listen in on some first dates...seems to be a popular spot for those. I wouldn't know anything about that though.

Yelp
My friend remembered this place for having great Caesars. She used to live up the street from here. We were in the neighbourhood and hungry so we decided to head back here for old time's sake. Unfortunately, the fondly remembered Caesars tasted as though the Clamato had either gone off or was being mixed with soda water. They had a suspicious fizzy quality that did not deter us from drinking them, but stopped us from having our usual allowance of three to five. We quickly switched to beer. This place is a bit strange. You walk up the stairs to get to the entrance and the bar is kinda ship-like, with the bow being a row of windows facing English Bay. There are tables around the bar in the centre. There were a ring of sailor-like old men bellied-up to the bar making regular heh-heh-heh-type jokes to the cute waitress/bartender. She had a great sense of humour and seemed to keep everyone happy. It's a bar menu and we went with chicken burgers, which were just fine.
