Batelina

It's been years since my last visit to Batelina. The quality and the mood are still the same. I loved the cold starters plate. We were also lucky to come in the crab season! Definitely recommended!

We were planning to visit David's place for a while now. As great fans od his culinary philosophy we enjoyed lovely selection of cold seafood starters, followed by fish of choice (daily catch) and great cannoli for desert. The atmosphere was great and the staff was excellent. If you like good quality seafood prepared with care this is a place to go.

I’ve been so excited to try this restaurant and all I can say is that I can’t wait to go back! The food is all homemade and so incredibly fresh! The selection is what was caught that day and there is so much to choose from. Drinks are great and priced well. The staff is amazing, attentive, nice and friendly but also so knowledgeable. The terrace where we sat was so lovely, the view of the gardens and flowers around makes you feel at home. Desserts were mind-blowing (I don’t usually care too much). This might now be my #1 fish restaurant in Croatia! I didn’t even mind that it was cash only. And the value for money was really good!

Cozy restaurant with great service n fresh seafood. V impressed w the food quality. Better half is not a fan of fish and he liked the grilled flounder and red mullet carpaccio. Highly recommended if u visit pula. Wont disappoint. Pricing is reasonable for quality. Reservations required. We walked in n were lucky to get a table. No menu. Fresh catch of the day.

If you like (raw) seafood starters and pasta, this is a must visit. Most likely one of the best food experiences which I can only recommend. Have in mind that the place gets busy and you need to reserve well in advance. Kudos to the Chef!

This year was our second visit to Batelina and, since I forgot to write the review, the first time we visited, I will comment on both experiences. The restaurant is quite cozy with not many tables, which is perfect for an intimate atmosphere. The staff gets the highest grade possible in every conceivable way. Both times we opted to listen to the waiters' recommendations and both times we were delighted at how tasty the food was. The fresh fish and clams with pasta was delicious and is highly recommended. I’m looking forward to visiting Batelina next time I come to Istria.

One of the best restaurants in Istria with unbelievable food and very friendly staff!

This is a destination restaurant if you are anywhere on the Istrian peninsula. The owner/ chef fishes every day in his boat and you get what he catches. But it is about more than fresh fish. He is a great cook. Appetizers were varied , well balanced and delicious, and the charge about 12 euros a person. Pasta top notch, also made in house. We especially enjoyed the parsnip ravioli with chunked tuna in sauce. The waitstaff will show you the catch of the day. We chose scallops. We asked for 2 glasses of the house red, and the waiter said, "I'll bring you a 1/4 which is about the same" and indeed this small carafe was about 2 glasses, but priced cheaper. Waitstaff was so friendly. We also had a great table in the second room right next to the fire, which at the end of October was special. Tips : make reservations as 90% of their tables are reserved in advance. Our hotel called one day in advance for us; we were there in low season however so not sure this will always work. August: closed because the fish are too far out at sea for their small fishing boat. Jan: 3 weeks closed because "all the locals are skiing" While you can order off a menu here, it is much more fun to trust the waiter, and the prices are so reasonable doing so isn't scary. Our 3 courses + wine+ one dessert =90Euros. If that is not in your price range, I think you can either check out the menu before going in, or just tell your waiter what your limit is and ask for suggestions.
