I will probably have my birthday here now. Such a homely vibe and atmosphere here, what you think of about an Italian restaurant, this is it. The service couldn’t have been better but again made it feel more authentic, great prices and the set menu for large groups would be fantastic for a party or 8+ people. Menu had a lot of option both for pizza and just normal Italian meals. There is indoor and courtyard (outdoor) seating. The pizzas are good if you prefer a crunchy base, not too thick but but not too thin, they’re overall doughy but I just prefer super thin crust. Toppings are generous and they have cheese and chilli on the tables to add on dishes (huge tick). Highly recommend for a lowkey dinner to start or finish a night.

The pizza was quite good, especially the dough, which had a delicious texture. However, the presentation of the dishes was very poor and could be greatly improved. The service was good, but the hygiene in the restrooms was terrible. It seemed like they cleaned only once a week, which is pretty unpleasant and needs urgent attention.

The pizza at this Italian restaurant is absolutely delicious and fresh! I highly recommend trying the sausage and mixed seafood pizza—both were bursting with flavor. However, the atmosphere wasn’t to my liking. It was quite noisy, with a lot of drunk people around, which took away from the dining experience. If you’re here just for the food, you won’t be disappointed! You can clearly hear this in my video.

Google
This pizzeria was our favourite pre-covid. Different owner now but the pizzas are still good value. The service level has slipped. There was a gap of 40mins between entre and main. We love the ambiance. So vibrant and so Italian!

Google
Fabulous food and fabulous service! It was my first visit, and I had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch with 2 others on Saturday. Booking in advance is highly recommended. I can't complain about the wine list as it is BYO! All the food was cooked perfectly, and the ambience was relaxed but fun-loving. It felt like all patrons were friends or family! Bathrooms were clean. Tables and chairs were clean and inviting a few minutes after previous diners had left. Highly recommended 👌 👍 👏

First time here and had a great time! Food was delicious and portions are more than reasonable. Yummy olives and octopus 🐙 the restaurant could be a tad loud for an intimate convo, but perfect for a lively gathering. I personally love the unpretentious vibe. I also appreciate the wonderful customer service from the team here, it was consistent from the phone call to the dinner table! I felt so welcomed (as someone from a different heritage) and comfortable dining throughout, plus they packed my takeaway for me and didn’t assume I needed two boxes for two dishes🥹🫣. Little things! 🤓

Google
This is my FAVOURITE restaurant of all time. No joke, I have been coming here for almost a decade and it never misses. I've come here for probably over 6 birthdays. I've brought so many of my friends here - they all know where 'Nadia's favourite restaurant' is because I rave on about it so much, and they ask me for the name sometimes so they can recommend it to their other friends. The service is always amazing. The food comes out SO quickly and the portion sizes are always amazing for the price. The food quality is always 5 stars, and the tiramisu is to die for. They also have parmesan and fresh chilli oil on the table to self serve. I love coming here, devouring the food and leaving with my bank account still intact. Only downside is it's pretty loud on weekends at night time and be warned - you have to book in advance!!

Google
Fantastic night out with great pizza and excellent service. One thing i would say is it is very loud when full, however well worth visiting if in Darlinghurst cheers from us all.

Yelp
Bar Reggio is my very favorite restaurant in Sydney. It's a noisy, boisterous, neighborhood joint with excellent, friendly service and amazing food. Whether you're in the mood for pizza, pasta, meat, seafood or one of the daily specials, you absolutely cannot go wrong. It's BYOB with a small bottle fee, so bring you fav wine with you. Settle in, enjoy the atmosphere and have a great meal. You'll be back again.

Yelp
Delicious home style Italian cooking We had a wonderful dinner at this popular Darlinghurst restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious - bruschetta, grilled octopus salad, porcini ravioli and heavenly tiramisu! BYO was a plus!!

Jeffrey T.

Yelp
Based on colleague's recommendation, brought another set here. As long as you book ahead getting seating was fuss free. Pizza was smaller than I expected. Oysters are seasonal so that affects the sizes too. Pasta and man dishes were on point. Desserts are great to be shared with Also. BYO.

Yelp
Is there something wrong with me?? Bar Reggio seem to be known for their big, hearty portions, and everyone else on the table was full to the brim... and then there I was, still looking around for more. But you should probably go with the majority on this one, you'll most likely leave with a happy, full stomach. And regardless, the food was tasty and depending on what you order, it can be a pretty cheap meal. Not sure if they only take lots of 6:30pm and 8:30pm bookings, but we were part of the 8:30 slot along with a few other groups waiting outside. This place was still loud and bustling into the night. Every dish looked great and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone for the most part. There was also a joint agreement that the vegetarian risotto was a standout.

Yelp
I attended Bar Reggio on Monday 5th December for lunch with 6 mates . One has to credit this iconic Italian restaurant with consistancy. The menu is extensive and diverse with board specials . The food is always fabulous with large servings of fresh produce prepared in classic recipes. The natural oysters here are always the best . But if you prefer cooked as Mornay or Kirkpatrick you will be spoilt as they are $24 a dozen and delicious. The salads are huge with fresh crisp in season vegetables . My favourite is Capriccio salad made of tomato, goats cheese and pilchards which are scrumptious. For mains I had the spatch cock and received two birds which tasted fabulous but very filling . Another ordered a full baby Barrumundi which was perfectly cooked to succulent perfection. Another had lambs shanks which were huge . The pizzas and pastas are brilliant. I recommend this restaurant to every one. It has fabulous vibes and a quality clientele. And as a bonus all staff and chefs are friendly and happy. Plus it is BYO.

Jack L.

Yelp
one of the best pizzas i've ever had, can see the reason why it's so packed. would highly recommend

Yelp
I was on the hunt for a good risotto and found this gem. Long wait but good food overall. It is BYO and the food is reasonably priced.

Yelp
We came to Crown Street for enrolling the Medicare and came across this store which locates right beside the Medicare office. The staffs are so friendly and outgoing here, I really like the environment here, which makes you feel welcomed. We ordered garlic bread, Mandy's spaghetti, Italian salads and salami small pizza. This store has a very quick service, I have to compliment this, LOL~Generally speaking the food are not bad. But for me, the food in this store is a little bit salty for me, while my personal preference is the food with less heavy taste. Anyway, we had a good meal. Worth trying:)

Yelp
I've been coming here for over 15 years. Bar Reggio is still my all time favourite Italian restaurant for a quick and easy meal. Anthony and Joe always look after me really well! Thanks guys. The pizzas are some of the best in Sydney and the Spaghetti Marinara is my all time favourite. Veal dishes are also very good. Dessert - you must try the homemade Tiramisu.

Julie A.

Yelp
It's pretty much impossible to walk into bar Reggio and get a table. The place is so popular you need to book at least 4-5 days in advance. To be honest I don't really understand why. It is a nice family restaurant, yes, that serves cheap food especially pizza, yes, but it's dirty there, the service is good but not amazing, the chairs are not comfortable and the decoration of the place is old and tacky. The pizzas are good but for pretty much the same price you can get an amazing one at Lucio's. I understand the place is an institution and everything, and it is nice for a family meal, but man I really don't think it deserves the 4 stars it has!

Joanna H.

Yelp
You can tell this place has been around for a long time and that there are some loyal patrons throughout. The venue is run-down and you squeeze inside no matter the time of sitting because it's so popular. It's also BYO with a bottle-o around the corner. Pizzas are cooked magically and they were a perfect entree for my group of 6. I then devoured the King Prawn Garlic Linguini; you could smell me from a mile away for the next 12 hours but I had a smile on my face I could not get rid of as the prawns were fresh, parsley and garlic were heavy and the pasta was al dente. This restaurant gets SUPER loud and apparently it's even louder in the courtyard so don't take your hard of hearing parents and make sure to book ahead.

Alecia W.

Yelp
Bar Reggio is a legendary spot for boozed up dinners and larger group events thanks to its BYO status with just $1.50 corkage - even on my last visit, "Happy Birthday" erupted three times from different tables of fellow diners, complete with the lights turned off and sparkler-topped tiramisus for celebration cakes. The ambience is decidedly unlike that of slick Sydney diners - the strong yellow lighting, the first hint that this place is more about getting jolly than enjoying a fine dining experience. It is very popular, with a wait of up to half an hour normal on any given weeknight if you arrive without a booking. Staff are efficient, used to dealing with the loud, bustling atmosphere, but friendly nonetheless. While the extensive menu does offer a selection of meat dishes, I'd stick to the more reliable pasta and pizza options - the 'trecolore' is a garlic heavy white pizza topped with rocket leaves dressed with a seeded mustard vinaigrette, while the 'pepperoni' offers up a milder than usual Italian salami topping.

Shane-Brenda M.

Yelp
Definitely must have a booking, we have a wonderful dinner with very large portions. The weekends are a bit loud but a very nice casual atmosphere.

Ana S.

Yelp
The main thing that will stick with you at this pizza and pasta joint is the jolly-good-time vibe of the place (hence, probably, the 'bar' bit of the name). People arrive dressed in that familiar dress, "smart casual", and in need of old school-type small and large pizza and pasta (ie do-it-yourself crust, beautiful aroma, lots of cream, large portions), walk past the two men who stand at the left of the door entrance making the dough and piling on the ingredients (thankfully they're generous), and come ready with company. You can organize birthdays here (works well with the restaurant space) and choose to do a set course (we always get the a-la-carte). There are TVs here and an indoor and a back-door seating area which is mostly open-air. Take note that your night here will be what you make it. This restaurant is more about the company you're with and also about whose plate you're going to take from than the food (which is great) or the service. I recommend you coming with a group. Those times have been the only times I've had a real jolly good time here.

Yelp
I don't know what it is about this place but the no frill, bring your family, kids, grandparents and cousins vibe really seems to work for me.... Bar Reggio feels super old school Italian - no fancy tricks or silly Italian fusion - just simple old fashion Italian food. We headed there for dinner during the middle of the week and let me tell you, the place was packed! I couldn't believe it. Not a table free....which I thought was a good sign... The waft of garlic and fresh herbs fills the air and as soon as you sit down your mouth begins to water... Traditional seems to be at the heart of Bar Reggio - and just by looking at the simplistic menu - they're wanting you to stick to the Itallian food foundations... I ordered a Napoli pizza (olives, anchovies) - it was really good...not amazing, but quite nice - my friend had the Veal Parmigiana which she really enjoyed... I'd say this a great place for families and Nana :)

Yelp
So embarrassing fact....I've walked past Bar Reggio every day for the past six months and every day say "man, I need to try that place"-- Last night I finally did, and man I'm kicking myself for not going sooner! Dinner will always be packed so either put your name in ahead or be prepared for a bit of a wait. It's totally worth it though! It's BYO so as you're browsing the menu and trying to decide what to get (impossible with so many good options) you can sip some wine. We started with the garlic bread and the waitress indulged our American side by bringing a side of marinara sauce and parmesan cheese for us to dip with. I opted for a pizza, while the rest of the table opted for various pastas- I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any choice!

Oliver S.

Yelp
Nice, easy going place, open for breakfast also, you can't do nothing much wrong with scrambled eggs, but they do it very well! Pizza also great, cheap for Sydney and only friendly personnel. Oh, don't miss the Cappucino!

John W.

Yelp
Simple, basic and great for a cheap quick eat. Very noisy though, so was hard to have a proper conversation without having to repeat things.

Eliza B.

Yelp
Laid back atmosphere, nice, hardworking folks behind the counter. I tried a large Nick's pizza ($16, about 14" across), which has spinach, parmesan, garlic, and bocconcini, and it was just ok. Honestly, I'm not sure the pizza was all that different from a frozen pizza you could cook for yourself at home (for less). In this part of town, I'm a bigger fan of Mad-E Pizza.

Phillp J.

Yelp
If you want a migraine... Go to this place! So loud you can't even hear yourself think along with being cramped in the corner with a tiny table that barely fit our meals on it. Entree's and mains were ok and decently large servings but salad was soggy, drenched in dressing, and feta tasted off (2 out of 3 guests I went with had intense food poisoning a couple hours after!) Felt as though we got rushed out of the awkwardly cramped restaurant that also doubles as a sauna BECAUSE IT IS SO HOT INSIDE. Used to be a regular but will not be back unfortunately. Disappointed!

Dom A.

Yelp
There's nothing better than an old fashioned home cooked Italian meal, except of course going out for a good old fashioned home cooked Italian meal and Bar Reggio in Darlinghurst offers just that. It's a favourite restaurant for many that offers the simple Italian dishes but does them well. Obviously it has your pastas, pizzas, salads and main dishes but it's certainly worth having a look at the chefs specials especially if you're a fan or seafood like mussels and garlic prawns. Yum! Bar Reggio is a great place to grab a group and let them decide for you with a $29 or $39 feast available. It's also BYO so it won't hurt the wallet. What ever you do, it would be un-Italian not to have some dessert so maybe try the tirimasu and if you don't go for an espresso to end the night, you may not be welcome back. Well, not quite!

Morgan C.

Yelp
Trying to get in here on a Friday or Saturday night can actually prove a little tricky! What appears to be a run-of-the-mill pizzeria, actually draws quite a crowd. We tried to get in at 7.30 on a Friday, but were told that there would be a 45minute wait, so obviously we chose to wait because it must be good! Well when we finally did get a seat, it turns out it was pretty decent but without really getting why people would be packing in here. Guess it's proximity to Stanley Street and it's array of restaurants helps it out and you're only a short stroll to the nightlife of Oxford St (and it's $1.50 corkage probably helps), but it was good without being queue-worthy! The pizzas definitely have the traditional feel about them, none of over exaggerated toppings that seem to have made their way into pizzerias, so this is a place for the purists. A large pizza will set you back between $15 and $18, which isn't too bad! Ant they taste pretty good too. One thing I didn't like however, was there bowl of warm olives...olives are not supposed to be warm unless they're on a pizza! Or maybe they are and I'm just being picky...

Courtney J.

Yelp
Went here for a friend's bday and will definitely be back. The food is amazing - I tried quite a few of my friend's dishes and everything was amazing - various pasta dishes, risotto, lasagne, garlic pizza, brushetta oh yum. Great location and it is BYO - the have set 2 hour dining sessions so that people don't abuse the fact that it's BYO right in the middle of darlinghurst. Highly recommend for dinner with friends or casual date night!

James M.

Yelp
This place was really good, noisy busy and good fun. The food was very tasty we had gnocci and a supreme pizza. Both were delicious the price was great and the service friendly. Planning another trip back there now.

Bennett J.

Yelp
Bar Reggio was a cool spot for me to grab a quick sit-down dinner with some friends after a busy day. Run by legit italians they have a bunch of pasta and pizza options at reasonable prices. I had a good pineapple bacon pizza that hit the spot but wasn't out of this world. The pastas were also good but nothing amazing. A solid spot if your in the mood for Italian but nothing special.

Mayank S.

Yelp
Absolutely poor service!!! Appalling! "This old man kept asking us "Not pushing you but can I collect the plates? Not pushing you but have you finished? Not pushing you but can I collect the empty glasses? Are you still eating or done? We didn't have a moment where we could sit back and talk. He just kept interrupting us. Never going back. The worst service ever.

Marcello B.

Yelp
Ok is the word, nothing special, nothing even good I would say, but the place is ok and fun, nice stuff.. busy and mess, I would say fun! The problem is the food, but sometimes a nice ambit worths more..

Mike R.

Yelp
A great place to meet friends, noisy and busy. I've dined both inside and in the rear, outdoor dining area. The pizzas are alright and the shellfish tasty. However, I've found pasta dishes--bolognese spaghetti and ravioli--to have sauces that are, well, boring. I would nonetheless recommend Bar Reggio for a good time.

Oliver D.

Yelp
Amazing Italian. Cheap, plentiful, and delicious. Try the amatricina or aglieo olio e peperoncino. Great for long lunches in the courtyard. Bring your appetito!

Amanda S.

Yelp
The pizza was great! Visiting from los angeles I was pleasantly surprised!! I would definitely return if I'm back in town.

Lena B.

Yelp
Seriously love this place- totally understated - one if the only placed that has an actual WOOD FIRE OVEN!!! The pizza here is very traditional italian! My tip is to go there after 9 and you'll have better luck getting a table !

Gary S.

Yelp
This is my favourite Italian restaurant in Sydney. The food and service are fantastic. It is a family run restaurant who really know how to look after there customers. Don' t be put off by the look of the outside of the place, it's whats inside that counts. You do need to book anytime of the week unless you are happy to wait for an hour maybe. Not sure about booking for lunch? Of course as we are in Oz it is BYO, with only a $1 corkage. Why don't we have more restaurants in the UK that are BYO! Anyway next time you are in Sydney looking for great food & service, go to Bar Reggio!!!

Yelp
Best, real italian pizza in town! Go early or make reservation, it is usually full. Closed on Sunday
