"You know when you want to go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came? Well, Bar de Courcelle is like the Cheers of Saint-Henri. Where boring evenings turn into eventful nights, where you can listen to great local bands, where you can watch a Habs game or where you can dance like there's no tomorrow on a retro dancefloor. Bar de Courcelle is simply the place to be in Saint-Henri." - Akufen

"This dive bar in Saint-Henri has been going strong for a decade, and has become a regular destination for its live music every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. While most patrons drinks pints and tall “quille” bottles of beer here, some also spring for plates like cheese and hot dip platters." - JP Karwacki

"Somewhat of a raucous party spot on weekends, yes, Bar de Courcelle (or BDC) is St-Henri’s go-to neighbourhood bar with classic cocktails, decent wine, and beers ranging from Labatt 50 to a few St-Ambroise brews." - JP Karwacki, Eater Staff

"A cozy bet for catching a Habs game in St-Henri, Bar Courcelle is on the smaller side, so consider calling ahead. If packed, you can always head out to the not-too-far Drinkerie Ste-Cunégonde (from the same owners)." - Eater Staff

This was the first place we stopped at after a long day on a construction site (volunteering initiative). The place doesn't look like much from the outside, save for the terrace which looks new and welcoming. Staff here was friendly and the food was really good. It started to fill up around 5pm with a trendy yet hipster type crowd. There is a stage at the far end of the establishment with a piano so I believe they offer live music from time to time. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would be OK with this place being *the* spot I came to regularly.

I brought my girlfriend there from toronto and i witnessed Adrian manhadling a woman for absoulutely no reason. Ill make sure noone in toronto goes to you bar again or anywhere else until you get rid of him and train ypur staff properly. I am a bar owner.

Google
This place is a nice little hang out. Price is the same for all bars but what good about here is that it's for the people type of bar. The music isn't too loud. Normally a place like this I would taste three but I had such a good time it deserves one star extra. Service is nice and chill and the waitresses are super polite.

Google
great bar with live music on some days of the week. overall, really relaxing presence

Google
Great service, good price and amazing atmosphere! Can't tell how much I love this bar, it's the place to be for a good vibe, great music and to enjoy your night along with the neighborhood. You can experience the amazing Open Mic nights and bands with Frisco (who does an amazing job by the way). The staff is friendly and the beer is good, what more can you ask for!

Google
I love the staff! Cozy, friendly bar and they have live shows too (mostly mainstream music).

Google
Unpretentious dive bar, cold beer on tap, perfect lighting.

Went to the bar on a recommendation of a local and this place is amaze balls! Totally chill with live music on Sunday but the real draw is 90’s hip hop Tuesdays with Maggie bartending. Had an absolute blast and couldn’t have asked for a more authentic, home-feel, place to spend some time in a city when I travel so often.

Yelp
Courcelle is a really great place to spend an evening. There is live music and sixties era lights shining above the bar; coupled with excellent highballs and a good selection of beer and wine, this place is where Saint-Henri goes bumpin' in the night.

Yelp
Cute little bar that has a terrace AND a dance floor - WHOT!! There's a warm and fun atmosphere here. Drinks are good. Easy to find parking. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the dance floor, I made sure to test it out. I just wish the music selection was more danceable.

Yelp
Location: Far on Notre-Dame West. The closest subway is (I think) St. Henri. The place: Totally unpretentious and super casual, just the way I like it. It was pretty dead when we went, but then, it was only 4:30. I guess the rest of Montreal starts boozing later than we do. The music is kickass awesome. AWESOME! Some old-school alternative, some Tom Waits, some urban electro. I. LOVE. IT. Music is a big factor in whether or not I will frequent a place - Bar de Courcelles was a total hit for me. They also show the game, for all you HABs fan. According to fellow Yelper Marko, this place really packs it in late in the evening, so if you're not feeling a crowded space, just go early and leave before 11pm. Service: Can't really say because I only got a glass of water. The waiter/bartender was pretty cool and didn't have any issues with me not ordering anything. Bonus? Free nuts. Yum. I say go for it. It's the kind of place you want to be in while a winter storm rages outside. Freezing cold out there, warm and cozy in here.

Yelp
I am beyond disappointed in the service I received tonight. It was my best friends birthday, I asked the DJ several times to play certain songs and he would not accommodat, even though we made up 80 perCent of the bar. I would not recommend this bar to anyone to who wants to have FUN .

Yelp
A good bar in an unexpected part of town. They're open until 3am, which is good to know when you're completely parched and in need of a drink late at night. The mixed drinks are solid (my personal favourite is a negroni, and they do a good one), and they have a bunch of beer on tap, including a house ale and larger. They do a solid charcuterie plate, which I would recommend if you're a bit hungry - it's usually enough to share between 2-3 people, and the ingredients are good (very meaty, as all charcuterie plates should be). They play the Habs games on a big screen, so keep it in mind if you're looking for a place to watch the game.

Yelp
Long labor weekend we meet with few friends for drinks, we are happy crowd and I clearly remember indulging on strong Caipirinhas made with very little sugar, as opposed to the Brazilian population I appreciate the drink less sugary and de Courcelle delivers. Few years later we are back on Friday night, the place is busy, but not yet packed. The Bloody Caesar is doing me good. I dare to conclude they know their cocktails at this bar. They have small but essential menu, potentially every taste will be satisfied. The waitresses pay attention that you always have a drink. The music is the right one for the beginning of another glorious weekend. De Courcelle is revamped dive bar, but revamped really well. As we all know sometimes the trick is to keep it simple!!!!

Yelp
A Perfectly Decent Neighbourhood Hipster Dive Bar. There's nothing all that notable to say about Bar de Courcelle, but there's not much to complain about either. The staff is friendly, the drinks and cocktails are reasonably priced, and the snack menu is surprisingly interesting. There's an open mic night that features some colourful neighbourhood talent, and it's a great place to watch a hockey game if you're into that kind of thing (but you should avoid it on game night if you're not).

Risa D.

Yelp
Great bar, really, with a mix of live shows and good music played by multi-tasking bartenders ipod djing. Solid cocktails and whisky list, warm wood and mellow lighting, flavoured and roasted nuts in cute mason jars for snacks. Kinda cowboy friendly hipster if I had to categorize it, and though it's lovely for a quiet drink in the early evening shit gets crazy here later, mostly because it's kind of the only decent bar in the area.

Yelp
If your in Saint Henri and you can't seem to find a nice bar to go to this is a great neighborhood bar that will not disappoint. Recently under new ownership Bar de Courcelles has been remodeled but has kept its woodsy cabane a sucre casual feel. Be careful what time of night you pop by, you might find yourself in a hoping hipster filled dive bar. Fun but it depends what you want out of your night. Great addition to Saint Henri.

Yelp
Another old establishment that has changed hands but continues on. It is more contemporary with premium micro brews on-tap. The crowd is much younger and hipper. There are no video poker machines, which makes it feel much more like a place to grab a pint and chat. The music is cool, and not too loud. I finally have a decent local pub in my hood.

Kookie R.

Yelp
This is THE place in St Henri. How lucky are we to call it our local bar ? the decor is simple but on point, the service is outstanding so are the drinks and food. We are going there a LOT and we absolutely love it. We prefer it in the late afternoon because we are with our fellow St Henri people, but we watched Hockey there, came for the musical events as well, and we only had fun. We just stay away on the weekend when the rest of the city comes over.

Marie P.

Yelp
Cool place! I liked the relax vibe; not a place to show off or to be seen (yay!). Drinks are really good at a real good price. We had the antipasto which was generous for 3 persons. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
25 minutes to get a hello from (one of many) servers, another 15 for them to take a drink order, and then I get served a half-empty wretched salty lime juice "cocktail" in a small tumbler glass. For $12. The fuck?

Alex E.

Yelp
Dive bar. Cheap drinks, dim lighting, great cheese tray, otherwise not spectacular food. Very ordinary beer selection. Reasonably loud.

Paul D.

Yelp
Went here on New Years Eve for drinks just after having a delicious supper at Le Smoking Vallée down the street. The atmosphere was friendly and the music was retro disco so it wasn't long before the dancing started. They were also serving shots with orders of Labatt 50 which certainly kept thew party going. Quick service, attentive staff, groovy music and a cool atmosphere. Highly recommended from this one experience, will have to go back and try it on a regular night.

Yelp
As perfect a Sidecar as I have had in many years - true to the 1930's originals. The Caipirinha was comparable to what we had in Brazil. Want to try more on their very extensive booze menu. Food-wise the feuilleté was delicious and well presented and I am looking forward to trying more of the nosh. Good open mic night an more live music to come I hear. Though there are some tvs for sport events, even when there's a hockey game, on the tv sound is turned off during intermissions and ads - quel relief! Good staff and a great addition to the neighbourhood I have lived in for 15 years. Congrats to all concerned on creating a good bar in an area that really needed it.

Kassi R.

Yelp
A great addition to the Hen House. Just the right kind of atmosphere for someone who enjoys a decent dive bar with a touch of industrial class. Not too pretentious and the music is great. Great beers on tap and great service. A definite haunt.

Sabrina N.

Yelp
This place was SUPER cool (am I geek because I said that???). I walked in after a double date just to chill and grab a drink. So fun. Super casual, music was cool and Vodka was ice cold. Everything was perfect! Not to mention that the we made nice with bartender who started to explain to us that the "oldies" that came in to drink were war veterans and used to drink here after the war back in the day. Loved the place

Julie B.

Yelp
Stunning retro interior, friendly staff and a good drinks selection. I enjoy going for a drink on weekday nights when it isn't too busy. Weekends are packed, but fun. There's always a free table and lively people to meet. Only flaw is that the owner rarely allows customers to pay with debit and nearly every time I've used the ATM it's been broken. The benefits of accepting debit far outweigh the costs guys ;)

Marko K.

Yelp
Had a great time sharing photo tips with the Montreal yelp gang! Bar De Courcelles is a super chill-decored place that's usually very crowded late at night. This time we were there in the day and had the place to ourselves - way cool!

Mark M.

Yelp
Cool ambiance really liked the vibe. However, was very disappointed by the house blonde beer. Reminded me too much of coors light.

Allison D.

Yelp
good vibe, always friendly people- lively conversation & excellent service. music is the best of bar music- singalongs happen here.
