"Spending a lazy Sunday afternoon at the Botanical Garden is an aged old tradition for Melbournians and tourists alike. To prepare for the day ahead, pick up a bottle of Rosé and head to Baker d Chirico for fresh, out of the oven treats. The original bakery started in St. Kilda before opening its pop-up store in the South Yarra location. Make sure to visit the store before it disappears (and pray it sticks around for the long haul)." - Blueboat

Unfortunately not the best experience, the place was empty with only one person waiting for a coffee, yet we were not even welcomed/ greeted in and it felt like we had to ask for staff’s attention after a few minutes… pastry (pain suisse) was a bit pricey and unfortunately not flaky buttery, rather a dry dough and pistachio fillings was definitely not generous enough. Disappointing experience

The German Schwarzbrot is really nice, it’s a Ryebread. As a German it’s Roggenbrot, Schwarzbrot would be a Pumpernickel but whatever

A tiny outlet for the scrumptious pastries baked at the Carlton store and bread from the St Kilda store, this one offers seating and is good for a coffee with a pastry. The selection here is quite limited, but the bambolone is still lip licking good.

Baker Di Chirico is, how do I say this without being rude.. it is a nice Bakery, with some rather nice baked goods, but the prices are absolutely outrageous! $14 for a Meat Pie 🥧! After eating the Pie my opinion wasn't swayed at all, yes it was a nice Pie but definitely not worth $14... unfortunately for me and everyone I've spoken to about the place, it just isn't worth it, I don't even Recommend Baker Di Chirico. If I was to tell someone about it, I would point them in the direction and tell them my honest opinion 🤷

We had a lovely frangipane tart from this impressive and well known bakery which was a really nice way to end the weekend. Nice and light with beautiful flavour

Not the only reason for me to go to South Yarra, but here is the must-check place if to go. Miss the heavy fruit bread so much.
