Ashdowns of Dover has it all. A great Host (Gary) who is very knowledgeable in the area and ready to share his contacts. The room is well appointed, very clean, a warm room; with a lush king size bed with wonderful pillows and sheets. The Breakfast Room has a beautiful garden view and the Breakfast is one of the best we have experienced. Being greeted with scones and homemade jam was a very special and greatly appreciated gesture. Gary is a wonderful Ambassador for Tasmanian tourism.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this charming B&B. The host, Gary, is thoughtful and thinks ahead -- offering to make dinner arrangements for us before we even arrived! He also is informative and responsive to any need, real or imagined. We appreciated his tips, not just about Dover, but about other places in Tasmania. The rooms are clean and comfortable; the property is lovely; the breakfast is filling! We cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

My sister and I booked this B & B at the last minute and we somehow came across one of the greatest places we have ever stayed. Gary is an exceptional host - we were met with tea and homemade scones. The whole place is very quaint and cosy. Beds are incredibly comfortable and the shower and bathroom facilities were perfect and clean. We requested an early breakfast, which Gary was more than happy to do and the full continental breakfast was incredible. This is a little gem in a great spot for exploring around Tassie’s south east and we can highly recommend this to anyone. Old school, genuine hospitality, perfect for winter or summer getaway!

Eight days into our Tasmanian adventure and definitely the BEST accommodation. Reasonably priced (the tariff includes a delicious cooked breakfast for discerning carnivores and vegetarians), the rooms are immaculate and the property, postcard perfect, with a divine vista of rolling green hills from the breakfast table.Our ‘host with the most’, Gary, could not do enough for us.He is a wealth of Tasmanian knowledge, welcoming, personable and always up for the most interesting conversation. I cannot recommend Ashdowns highly enough…just brilliant! I look forward to a return visit!

Stayed here for 2 nights. Gary is a terrific host and full of useful information. Our Africa themed room was amazing with a great view. His breakfasts are to die for. He also made us afternoon tea scones with fresh cream and home made jam when we came back from our big hike from cockle creek to south cape bay. He has a great fire pit outside as well.||Could not recommend this place more highly. Huron valley and Dover all very scenic and also recommend Hastings caves and thermal springs
