"What catches your attention here? What's the vibe?Industrial chic with quirky indulgences. Walk over checkered flooring, past a blinking crosswalk post into a lobby with vaulted ceilings. Curtains partition the common spaces from the lounge, and a check-in that evokes a chapel's nave. What's the backstory?Although the property has lodging lineage that dates back to the 1920s, it wasn't until 2013 that ACME came in, overlaying hipster embellishments atop the historic foundation. But don't let the throwback vibe fool you, this place has been thoroughly retrofitted for today's gearheads. You'll enjoy super-speed connectivity across every square foot and you can even use a loaner Apple Watch during your stay. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book?Standard rooms are compact but efficient. Light furnishings, modest and modish, surround a Serta Suite Plush bed that's easy to sink into it. From its comfortable embrace, you spy a spectacular view of the surrounding River North neighborhood, where steel and concrete facades stretch toward the sky. An Amazon Echo occupies the end table, ready to receive commands. The bathroom is similarly condensed, but attempts to distract from spacial limitations by upping its cool factor; marble vanity, vessel sink, pipe-fittings doubling as towel racks. If you plan on spending a good amount of time in the room, it's worth upgrading to the suite for added breathing room. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?No charge for Wi-Fi, and the speeds are fast and furious. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?ACME caters more to the boozehounds than the epicureans. Three separate bars on the property each deliver their own distinct and alluring vibe. In the lobby, the Berkshire Room specializes in deftly executed classics. Upstairs is the Bodega Bar, slinging upscale arrangements in a cozy, living room like atmosphere. But if you're looking to drink up in truly unique fashion, bring a group of friends up to the Bunny Slope—a cheeky re-imagining of an '80s-era après-ski, built around a working hot tub and fireplace. And the service?   Service at the ACME is competent but hardly indicative of world-class hospitality. A casual aloofness is perhaps part of the charm, to some. But this isn't a place that's trying to win you over with warmth. They do know their city as well as anyone, though, so seek counsel from anyone here and they'll get you to where you want to be. What type of travelers will you find here?Technocrats with tattoos and tight-fitting clothes. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene?River North is one of Chicago's hippest hoods, dense with bars, boutiques, and restaurants. ACME blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Its shared spaces evoke an informal urban aesthetic and form the basis of a dependable destination for locals and visitors alike. Is there anything you'd change?More expansive dining options would surely satisfy the masses. Any other hotel features worth noting?Acme's infamous 'Hair of the Dog Package' includes two bottles of Gatorade, two packets of aspirin, and a gift certificate to MBurger—a local fast casual favorite. The $25 upcharge at check-in is positioned as the perfect hangover prep. Bottom line: Why are we booking here?Great location, playful vibe, and a breadth of bar options make ACME as a worthwhile stay for those in need of ample nightlife." - Brad Japhe

We checked in on my birthday. It was king room. Very cozy. Love the Aesthetic! The bathroom mirror was so cute. The bed was comfortable. I love that Alexa was available in the room. And also the cute retro fridge that was in the room was nice. The location is great. Its near all the restaurants and places I wanted to go. I don’t know about the parking because we used a parking app and stayed in a garage for $17 overnight! Anyway I would definitely stay here again. The only problem I had was a personal one, my room was decorated with balloons and rose petals but the ones on the wall couldn’t hold very well. I think one of the walls is like a chalkboard.

Google
We had a wonderful time staying at this hotel and got plenty of recommendations to do and to eat! The room was clean and staff were super helpful. There is a bar and a cafe on the first floor. The only complaint I had was that the shower design did not have a door. Would still stay here again next time!

One of the most unique hotels in the area! The staff is very attentive and courteous. The decor is fantastic with an interesting music hip music theme. There's a bakery/cafe and the Berkshire room restaurant/bar on the main lobby.

Google
I needed to make a last minute hotel reservation for my work team and wanted to make sure it was a nice hotel, in a safe area, but was not excessively expensive per my company's policies. I found the ACME Hotel Company on a few travel sites and it seemed to have good reviews, so I cross referenced with Google and again found good reviews. I was so pleased to find that the reviews were accurate. I called the hotel's phone number to work with them directly and was put in touch with Marc and he could hear the panic in my voice to reserve 2 rooms for my team for that evening. Not only did he set my mind at ease immediately by assuring me he would take care of everything, but he made me feel okay and that my anxiety was understood. Instead of feeling embarrassed and silly, he made me feel confident in my reservation for the team at ACME. He took care of everything so quickly and followed up a few hours later to make sure I knew that everything was handled and they were ready for the team to arrive. I received text messages from the team later letting me know that check-in was so easy and that their rooms were so nice and very cute! I received snaps and videos of the cute lip print details on the mirrors and the fun accents throughout the room. I later found out that they each had "Welcome" cards in each of their rooms and that Marc had actually upgraded both rooms to suites to accommodate them further. I could not be more happy with the service that we received from ACME Hotel Company and from Marc! My team was so happy and they are excited to come back and stay. I will make sure that the next time I am in the city that ACME Hotel Company is my choice for the best stay in Chicago.

Google
Incredible location - very central and easy to get around. Felt quite safe. The room was clean - small, but nice. We had an issue with the airconditioning not working the first night and it was a very warm weekend in May. We mentioned it to the front desk on our way out in the morning, for the day. They took a look and quickly identified the unit was broken and they replaced it entirely with a new one. We slept at a much more comfortable temperature the second night. I was impressed at how quickly they fixed the issue. The staff were very friendly and service was great! I would absolutely stay here again for my next visit to Chicago.

Google
Loved! Great vibes. The room was clean and cozy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The mirror was a cute touch! Great location with fantastic restaurants nearby. A solid 10/10 for me. Can't wait to stay again!

Google
This place was perfectly small for our stay! We spent 24 hours here and while the rest of Chicago left us no desire to come back, the staff here was extremely helpful and respectful. The hotel is located in a perfect spot and felt very comfortable. The hotel and the immediate area felt safe. We had 0 issues with our stay!.

Google

Yelp
ACME Hotel is a boutique spot located just a few blocks from the Magnificent Mile. There are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby, and there's a Jewel-Osco conveniently on the same block. The room isn't huge but offers a comfortable amount of space. The elevator has a cool rock-and-roll theme, adding a unique touch. However, the lobby is small, and with only one person at the front desk, check-in and check-out can be a bit slow. I came on a work trip and needed a reasonably priced hotel with at least a 3-star rating, and ACME fit the bill perfectly.

Bella T.

Yelp
This hotel is very close to most everything in Chicago, but especially the river north neighborhood. A lot of amazing restaurants less than a 10min walk like Giordano's and Lou Malnati's. The room itself was very clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable and the thermostat is fully adjustable. The theme of the hotel is a funky, rock-grunge vibe. I stayed for three nights during the week and it was overall a great stay. I had to give a noise complaint on my 2nd night because the neighbors who had just moved in were very loud and the wall was thin. But, the front desk staff promptly moved me to another room. Quick and easy move that allowed me to get enough rest for work the next morning.

Yelp
A perfectly accommodating hotel if you're looking for a place to stay in the area! Very clean and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful especially Jerome! Right in the center of all city living and nightlife. Only steps away from restaurants, bars and right across the street from the casino. The hotel bar is aesthetically pleasing and makes a great espresso martini! Would definitely stay again if I were to return to Chicago!

Yelp
This was a last minute booking and I'm so thankful they had a room available. The goods: Location - close to everything. Super walkable to restaurants, shopping, sight seeing Clean - had a double queen with good sized windows (check out my photos for fun surprises), comfy sheets, artsy fartsy decor and color scheme. Although the bathroom didn't have a toilet paper holder, the waterfall ceiling shower thing had great pressure and the lighting was ideal. Robe - hanging there just asking to be worn. And oh so comfy, too. Late night food delivery - front desk was prepared to share the local restaurant establishment that delivered to the hotel late. And I mean late, like 1AM! It made my whole night to be able to order fresh, steamy lasagna in bed after a long travel day. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
ACME hotel is one of those places that is all vibes and less of the basics that a hotel needs for a comfortable stay. For example, the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner (the bottom edge of the mirror, which is frosted glass, had splashes/streaks that had not been cleaned off). The backside of the mirror on the top was a long light bulb covered in about 1/4" of thick fuzzy dust. When my husband and I went to bed around 11pm, it was almost 90 degrees outside. We had the air conditioning on at a comfortable temperature- maybe 68-70 degrees. I woke up a few hours later sweating and thought I was dreaming that the heat was on. It wasn't a dream- the heat WAS on! It was on 73 and neither of us had any idea why. We turned the thermostat off and back on again and that seemed to work. The room was small and a few things a little worn, but otherwise comfortable. We also stayed on the 13th floor, which was a little odd for me since I've never experienced that before. (I'm not superstitious but I'm a little stitious). A good location with an okay price- I would say middle of the road stay overall.

Yelp
I very rarely leave 5 star reviews for hotels, but I just simply could t find anything wrong with this cute, hip, conveniently located and extremely affordable hotel right smack in the middle of everything. Super friendly staff, small, but well designed room, parking next door for $40 was very reasonable. Hip/chic/industrial feel with really cool music in the elevators. A small bakery on site as well as an upscale bar. Would definitely recommend!!

Michael K.

Yelp
I checked into the Acme hotel today. I have to say, I was mildly annoyed after checking in that I waited almost 5 minutes for an elevator because only one of them was working. Just a couple of hours later, I was leaving to meet a friend and neither the up or down button on my floor would light up. I walked down 9 flights of stairs (thankfully my Lyft waited for me). Upon returning to the hotel the two reception staff were parked at the desk behind a plexiglass sheild and it wasn't until I got to the elevators that I saw the out of order signs. Nine flights of stairs back to my room and I'm exhausted. Side-note, the ONLY out of order signs are posted on the first floor. I hope to amend or re-write this review after I check out, but we'll see if my stay gets better from here.

Yelp
I came across this hotel by accident and am grateful we had the opportunity to stay in such an interesting spot. I loved the music that was piped into the lobby, elevators and outside the front door. It's a place that definitely has a dark, cozy vibe. The location was incredible, at least for a tourist, as we were walking distance from restaurants, the casino, luxury shopping, river walk and millennium park. Anytime day or night there was action and life outside the front door. You're walking distance from a Trader Joes, and they do not offer coffee or breakfast. There is laundry and a gym for guests. The room has a large smart tv, an Alexa device, and fridge and a radio. Overall clean and quiet. Would definitely return. Knocked off a star because the amenities are few and the room doesn't feel as big as other comparably priced locations. What it lacks in extras, it makes up for in style and vibe. Recommended.

Yelp
This was an awesome little hotel for our last minute weekend trip to Chicago. The hotel has a very unique aesthetic, bar, and bakery on sight. The room we booked was a bit small compared to the many other hotels we've stayed at in Chicago, but it's extremely functional and gives a sort of European vibe. The TV was huge, bigger than we've had in other Chicago hotels, there are hangers to hang only a few clothes out in the open, and a couple of drawers, as well as a little table and seating to enjoy. The bathrooms have been updated and have a cool vibe with a red lipstick nightlight when the light is off. The hotel is very much centered around music so you can hear music playing around the lobby and outside, as well as showcases and features of vinyl albums on the walls of the elevators. While there is music downstairs and a bustling nightlife, we found the room to be very comfortable and quiet. You can hear guests in the hall, but nothing anymore different than any other hotel. I wished we had a coffee maker in the room but it's not something they offer, and instead you're recommended to purchase a coffee at the bakery downstairs though they did not have drip decaf available (which is why I brought my own thinking we'd have a coffee maker as my heart can't handle the caffeine anymore.) they currently have advertised in the FAQ of their website that they will bring you a complimentary jug of coffee in the morning, and we asked about this but it seems like the website is out of date as this was not true. we did have a cool little mini fridge though. I believe the website has a few errors on it as they have some photos uploaded of what looks to be a lodge that are clearly not this location. We did not have room service either. The price of the hotel is one of the most affordable I've ever paid, so while the coffee was a set back and there is no room service, we can't complain too much as it was totally budget friendly and in a great location in the city!

Yelp
Fun boutique hotel in a great location! Lots of quirky touches add to the charm. And LOVE a hotel with no carpet in the rooms (ick!) Bakery and bar on main level for extra convenience

Josh M.

Yelp
I love this place! So good. Location is amazing. Staff are all very very good. You cant beat it. Funky lobby. Cool rooms. Awesome options around it for food and drink. Highly recommend. Very very cool spot.

Sarah R.

Yelp
Full disclosure, I did book here with a third party company, but I had a really lovely stay here recently. I was staying for business and just needed a place to crash. Right from the beginning I was impressed with the decor. The music, the lighting, and the record labels in the elevators were memorable. The people at the front desk were so kind and I even met one of their young daughters who was absolutely adorable. The room was small but fully furnished, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower had amazing pressure. I loved the chalkboards on the door to write little messages and the lip light in the bathroom was a perfect nightlight. There is a coffee shop attached to the first floor with delicious pastries and very strong cold brew. I appreciated the proximity to everything downtown including the L and the buses. It was quiet for being on a bustling street. Overall very happy with my stay and would certainly stay again.

Luis B.

Yelp
Had a great stay at this creative music oriented hotel! Gabby and Jennifer at the front desk were incredibly helpful and kind! Looking forward to staying here in the future.

Destiny L.

Yelp
Location is great, super walkable and good proximity to everything you could need. I arrived around 10 on a Saturday night and check in was a breeze. They don't do much other than take your payment (I booked pay at hotel through Hotels.com). Staff wasn't unfriendly but they also weren't friendly. The doors you enter also lead to a bad which seemed very popular Saturday night but wasn't too crazy any of the other nights. The room was decent, especially for a cheaper option in the area. The bed wasn't amazing but not the worst hotel bed I've ever experienced. The bathroom was fun, with the light up lips on the mirror and a really good shower that got nice and hot. No complications with checkout, they have a key box at the front desk for sustainability.

Ben M.

Yelp
I would rate this 0 stars if I could. This is one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Not only was the hotel dirty and unsanitary, but the two women working the front desk in the afternoon/late day shift on 10/10/24 were unbelievably rude and obnoxious. They never gave us a ticket for the luggage check and then refused to give us our bags (even after getting the police involved) making people fly home with no keys to their car and all the other items left in their luggage. DO NOT STAY HERE.

David C.

Yelp
Interesting hotel. The room was ok, but: - the bed was too firm for me - the TV had an HDMI cable that went down to a holder on the desk - it would have been great for a laptop on the desk. It did not work. I called, and they said it wouldn't work. Why did they tease? - The toilet wasn't properly fastened to the floor. Or maybe not at all. It would literally swivel around on the floor. Price was great though for Chicago. I won't be staying here again though...

Yelp
My little family of 4 (me, hubs, and our two pups) had a great stay at ACME Hotel. We were able to check in early and they upgraded our room from standard king to city view queen. We squeezed into the tiny elevator and made our way up to our room. Unfortunately, we were sandwiched between two birthday parties and they were loud as hell. Not only were they screaming and blasting music, they were also freaking our dogs out, who were already uneasy due to their first time being in a big city. It seemed like it was going to be a big hassle for everyone involved so I decided to ask if we could switch rooms. I went downstairs to ask the front desk, stating that we were between two birthday parties and while I didn't have a problem with them celebrating how they want, I was concerned that our dogs would disturb people since our corgi has a VERY loud bark. I asked to be relocated to a floor without much foot traffic to minimize noise both inside and outside our rooms. The lady at the front desk seemed to appreciate that we were trying to prevent ourselves from being nuisances to other guests and she moved us one floor down. The room was WAY nicer than our other room and nice and quiet! The view was great too. We were also a very nice distance away from the stairwell and the elevator so getting around wasn't too terrible. The staff was great throughout the whole process as well! There was an extra $50 pet fee for the entire stay, which is a deal from my experience traveling with pets. Two things to mention: 1) pre-book your parking through Spothero if you want slightly-less-painful parking process. There are no in/out privileges though, so you will have to figure something else out if you want to get around. But it's Chicago, so you already know you can get anywhere using public transit :) 2) If you are traveling with dogs, there are not a lot of places to let them out to go potty. When you leave the hotel, hang a right and go around the corner by Uno. There are a few trees there with mulch that are good for pups to do their business.

Yelp
Acme Hotel is one of those boutique hotels in downtown that have begun to disappear over the years. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by the friendly staff wearing some cool Acme Hotel mechanic shirts for their uniform, the lobby is decorated in a modern rock n' roll feel, the elevators playing classic to alternative rock and lined with great vinyl album covers, and each door adorned with a chalkboard on it containing a small handwritten greeting. It's the little things that make staying here an adventure. The rooms are spacious and decorated with that same modern feel. It's definitely not like staying at a chain hotel in Chicago. The Berkshire room downstairs offers a fun menu of drinks you don't see very often, including a Van Winkle Old Fashioned made with Pappy 12 year. I would definitely recommend making a reservation when you check in to avoid a long late night wait when the bar picks up. Take some time to walk around and check out the details of how this former lobby turned bar was transformed. The attached bakery is a fantastic stop for breakfast. And one other great aspect of this spot is the location. You are within walking distance from so many local favorites for dining, shopping and entertainment. If you want to stay downtown and have an interesting experience in the room as well as out on the town, I can't recommend the Acme Hotel enough.

Geanr L.

Yelp
Delightful boutique hotel in the midst of busy downtown Chicago. Great staff got us to a fun tacos bar scene after we had a drink inside this very cool hotel. The hotel bar is chic and grovey

Amy S.

Yelp
The location of the hotel was great and our very late at night check-in worked out just fine, even though they keep the front door locked at night and access is granted only after ringing the bell. We fortunately only waited a couple moments before being let in. It was cold in November! The elevator to our floor was right next to the lobby and it was decorated with music albums, which were really fun. The entire vibe of the place (the music, art in the halls and walls, and the chalkboards on doors), was all very unique, but gave me a familiar feeling of nostalgia. Our room was clean, but it was really, really small. But not like we had to spend much time in there - we were on vacation to explore, which is what we did most of the time we were there. Helpful suggestions from the front desk were appreciated, as was the bar within the hotel's building for drinks at night, and the coffee shop next to it for drinks in the morning. The being the smallest room I've ever stayed in is noteworthy, but nothing else really to complain about. The girl at the front desk who checked us out on our departure wasnt' all that friendly, but the guy at check in had enough personality to make up for that. He was really nice! Side note: front desk will hold your bags while you wander after checking out if you are catching a late flight; they ask for tips but there's no charge. Since we walked the bags back on our own, and placed them in a back area by the bar, I wasnt' really sure what the tip was for. Isn't keeping them safe just part of the territory? But perhaps that chore was why our interaction upon leaving wasn't the warmest. Had a great time in Chicago; had a great time staying here; and I'd definitely book here again in we were in the same neighborhood on our next visit.

Yvonne H.

Yelp
Interesting little hotel! Great location for sure. Do yourself a favor and call for parking directions though! Staff was great! We got to keep the room keys because we liked them so much lol. I will say, everything is tight. The elevator is small and probably shouldn't hold more than 2-3 people, especially with luggage. It was also very slow, and only one of the two was working. The hallways were on the narrow side as well, and pretty dark, overall, it was a somewhat spooky atmosphere. Maybe on purpose because it was Halloween weekend. Our room, on the other hand, was bright and airy. It was surprisingly quiet in the room! We definitely got a good night's rest. The bed were very firm, and we had plenty of outlets to charge phones. We also had two fridges, but for some reason no coffee maker. I didn't see free coffee in the lobby, but there's a bakery across from the lobby, so it was fine. We had an enjoyable stay.

Jeremy S.

Yelp
We have stayed at the Acme Hotel a couple times now, about the same experience each time. Rooms are very simple, has all the basics including WiFi(super fast by the way). The beds and pillows were comfortable. A couple annoying things though, the doors are pretty thin and a lot of sound comes through. Also the T.V.'s remote doesn't work. It wouldn't let us navigate through Netflix. On the upside, we usually can get a good price on a night also there's a parking garage right next door and the last thing, there's an awesome bar just off the lobby.

Emily K.

Yelp
These are the largest hotel rooms I've seen in Chicago! Each of them had a very personal touch with the handprints on the walls above the beds, or though red lipstick on the mirrors in the bathroom. I was here for a bachelorette party, and we had more than enough room for everybody! The prices were affordable, especially for Chicago. Still on the pricey side, but definitely better than surrounding hotel options. Would definitely go back if I have future events in downtown chicago!

Rachel W.

Yelp
A very hip and trendy place with lots of character! Highly rated by Conde Nast a couple of years ago, so I was excited to book a room. We stayed here for one night in July (a Saturday) while attending a wedding in the city. I missed the boat on booking a room at the hotel(s) the bride and groom recommended, so thus began my search for another hotel in the same area with availability. Acme Hotel popped up on Hotels.com. Easy to book. We ended up with a Queen room, which was fine for us. Paid roughly the same price we would have at the Marriott or Holiday Inn. We were able to check-in around 1pm instead of 3pm. The wedding was at 4pm, so we were thankful for getting in early. As a previous review mentioned, customer service wasn't unfriendly, but not overly friendly either. You do have to charm them and win them over - which my husband is very good at. :) Check-in staff did tell us about coffee delivery the next morning if we wanted it. We checked in and got our room keys, then went back to the parking garage to get our luggage. This ended up being slightly inconvenient. More on that at the end of my review. Elevator: There are so many floors and the elevator is slow and small. Plan to get cozy if you're sharing, or wait a while for the next elevator if you don't want to share a small space. The albums that line the elevator are amazing!! If you're a fan of classic rock, you'll recognize a lot of them. Music in the elevator begins when you start moving. There's a sound bar installed near the ceiling (if I'm remembering correctly). Our room was very cozy and clean. There was a fridge, safe, robe, ironing board and iron. I was bummed to see that there weren't any snacks. Previous reviews showcased the snacks and stocked fridges full of beverages, but none of that was available in our room. Not sure if it's because we were in a Queen, or maybe they had just eliminated this service altogether. We would have spent some $$ had there been options. Bed was comfortable. Furniture, like the nightstands, were a little rough looking. I loved the mix of older and contemporary furnishings. The bathroom might be one of my favorites ever. Thermostat on the wall for a/c and heat control. We appreciated that we could actually open the windows in the hotel room. It was unseasonably cool on this Saturday in July. We did hear some noise from adjacent rooms, but nothing to complain about. The bar was popping on Saturday when we got back from the wedding. We didn't check it out, but maybe would have pre-wedding had it been open. Really wish the attached cafe was open. This would have been incredibly convenient. No security measures in place at Acme. When we got back to the hotel around 11pm, we took the elevator right up to our room without being asked to swipe our access card or anything. Being in a heavily populated major city, and given the obstructed view of the front desk in relation to the elevator, I think hotel guests should be limited to only going to floors that they're staying on. Non-guests shouldn't be allowed on the elevators at all. If there is some safety protocol in place, I missed it. Check out on Sunday morning was easy. Our parking was validated so we only had to pay $30 instead of $50. The stairwell of the parking garage comes out right next to the front of the hotel, but you have to walk around the block to get back to you car. You also have to pay your parking fees in the elevator lobby of the Hilton (I think it was). Acme doesn't offer a way for you to pay parking before you leave, nor is Acme connected to the nearest parking garage in any way. If you have to park a car while staying at the hotel, I don't recommend using it until you're ready to leave. Not convenient. If you're looking for affordability, character and something in the heart of Chicago, definitely give Acme a try.

Yelp
Super chill zero frills kind of place. Located in an amazing location with comfy beds and a super cool bathroom (hello red lips)...what's not to love? Living in Chicago for years I knew I made the right decision bringing my fiancée who's never been to Chicago here. Right in river north you can literally walk to EVERYTHING. Price is right and the room was extremely clean. Keep in mind this is a BOUTIQUE hotel, so it's not going to give you that typical four star hotel experience, it's a no frills no kinda bullshit place. You are in the heart of chi town after all. Yes you will hear sirens and outside street noise, but what do you expect remember you are in a city. I do want to mention we had a little hiccup when checking in, we arrived late and were given a room that didn't lock YIKES. I also made a note on the reservation that we were celebrating an engagement and it wasn't mentioned at all. We ended up being upgraded to a king suite room which was amazing, but only because the room they put us in had a defective lock. We were told they don't have maintenance on site so we were given this larger room. I am not sure if we would of enjoyed our stay as much if we weren't moved. The first room we were put in was VERY small and stuffy with a LOUD heating ax unit. Since the room didn't lock anyone could just walk right in there which made us uneasy but things happen and it was fixed quickly. Staff was very friendly. No house keeping daily which again wasn't mentioned. This could of been because of Covid, get it. Had to go down to front desk to get extra towels and toilet paper. This is a no frills kind of place and we saw that it really depends on what kind of room you get. For the price and location I would stay here again.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay. This is not a Holiday Inn or any other chain- it's different, which is why I like it. Comfy rooms, great shower, Each room has Alexa to help with music or order a thermos of coffee in the morn.

Yelp
A really disappointing experience. I was part of a block of rooms were booked for a wedding at this hotel over the weekend. The folks with me had similar experience. Lets start with the good: -Rainfall shower head was amazing, and had plenty of water pressure and hot water -35$ a night attached parking garage is a good deal, compared to the rest of that part of chicago Thats were the positives end. The easiest way to describe the staff is to say that they treat you like you have personally offended them any kind of question or request. They are seem lazy and miserable, no other way to put it. Honestly, I didn't ask for anything above and beyond, but it was like pulling teeth to get them to do something like hold the front door for me. The room is from over function and comfort. The bed is thin and spring based and very uncomfortable and short. The Pillows disintegrated under your head. No joke, I stacked 4 and they still didn't provide the support of a standard pillow. Theres a weird cloth tapestry over the bed and it's covered in stains. The TV uses what I can only describe as a 10 year old android tablet interface and was impossible to use. Smallest mini fridge in existence. Can not recommend you spend your money here.

Yelp
Although our check-in was below par and the expectations we had for the hotel didn't match up, our check out by far exceeded expectations and not because we were leaving. Front desk assistant, Jerome was courtesy, enthusiastic, engaging and truly cared about us as patrons. He engaged in a fun and playful banter, while still making sure our needs were addressed and met. When exiting the hotel we were unfamiliar with the surroundings and the ways of the city transportation. My husband went back inside to inquire on how to obtain a cab or uber, Jerome came out of the hotel to our aid. He brought a whistle and he's charm and we had a cab within seconds. Had it not been for his assistance who knows how long we would have stood dumbfounded. Jerome exceeded all areas when it comes to guest services.

Yelp
Quick: Clean, unique and colorful atmosphere. The character of the hotel, service and location are all top notch. Pros: Close to many of the hot spots. Cute rooms, built in fridge drink choices are reasonably priced, lots of sass, fairly quiet, clean, bar/lounge downstairs Cons: NONE Loved our stay here. This hotel is clean, quaint, fun, well located and reasonably priced. The beverage fridge had water and sodas for $2 and beers for $5, which is far more reasonably priced than anywhere I've stayed in Vegas. The decor is cute, the room is tight for more than 2, but perfect otherwise. Everything feels plush and full of character. Would def stay again and again.

Yelp
We didn't get a chance to stay here, but we stopped in for a coffee and asked the front desk for assistance. The staff went above and beyond to assist us. They were kind, understanding, and funny, which helped ease the jam we were in. We're definitely be staying here next time we're in Chicago! Good coffee at the bakery attached and a great location!

Yelp
We stayed at the Acme Hotel two years ago and loved the location and the uniqueness of the hotel/rooms/experience. This time around was no different! We had an issue one of the nights with some loud noises from a neighboring room so we called downstairs and spoke with Danny. He was totally awesome and quick to make our experience better ASAP. He took care of us and for the inconvenience he even upgraded us to a bigger room on another floor! Some hotels and staff would just apologize and leave it at that 'there's nothing we can do' type of mentality but Danny really stepped it up there for us!! I would definitely recommend Acme Hotel for a great stay in downtown Chicago. Great service, clean hotel and feiendly staff!

Yelp
My now-husband and I have stayed at ACME for staycations several times, and it's even where we got engaged! So, of course, I'm partial to this amazing Chicago hotel. We love staying here for the atmosphere, great customer service and location. Those visiting our amazing city will find the ACME to be a perfect platform for myriad excursions in the River North neighborhood and beyond.

Yelp
Affordable and close to downtown! They have a bakery in the AM that is always closed, but they serve coffee and tea in the lobby. I love the room - they got a mix of 50's and hipster decor! Quiet despite a lot of partying in the area.

Yelp
Unique, quirky and top notch customer service. If you're reading this and have a say so regarding the salary of the ACME staff, GIVE VAL AND MARIA A RAISE!!! Not only did they let us check in early, but they upgraded our room for free. The room was very nice, spacious and decorated nicely (and super fun). They deliver hot and freshly made coffee to your door if you schedule if when you check in. It was extremely delicious and I loved how they were delivered in a giant thermos, one for each person in the room too. The location was perfect for our trip between going to a musical and hitting up the restaurants and bars in the area. Perfect for some good shopping too. The other great thing is that they will give you discounted parking for the public garage next door. $25 for 24 hours! That's unheard of in Chicago, parking for basically $1 an hour??? Magic. Overall, I loved my stay here and will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is fun and trendy hotel with a lot of young people (and pretty affordable). They have free coffee in the lobby (but it stops at 10am). There is some cool circus style statues if you look out the window. The Berkshire is a hip bar on the bottom. Despite the younger crowd and bar it wasn't loud at all at night and I slept great. Parking is close by and only $25 per night!

Yelp
Totally a fun and funky hotel in the middle of a busy section of downtown Chicago. Music dominates the hotel design, which gives the property a bit of a "Rebel with a cause" persona. Rooms are small but well appointed. The layout is thoughtful, which makes the room feel cozy not crowded. Excellent toiletries btw. My favorite hotel amenities: Umbrellas to check out at the front desk and freshly ground/brewed coffee delivered to your room in the morning. Call to order and ask for additional carafes if you want more than 1.5 cups. It's about a 10-15 min walk to Millennium Park and just 10 min to the river boat tours.

Yelp
Acme met all of our expectations. From meeting the owners to checking in with Jennifer's hospitality. It was our first time in Chicago. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
First visit to Chicago in a long time, so I can't make a comparison to other hotels in the same class, but this place was a completely different experience than you'll get in any chain hotels. Decorated like an industrial warehouse/factory meets 70's era hippies, the environment is just plain fun. Rooms are small- which I suspect is the norm in this class. The king rooms face inwards as our first room looked at a cement block wall 10' out with almost no daylight. Queen rooms face the street and were much better in terms of lighting and something to look at out the window. The lobby has a small check-in desk with the real office hidden to the side. The front desk staff was always friendly, responsive and helpful. You can order complimentary morning coffee or tea delivered to your room in stainless thermos bottles at a designated time. There's a nice bakery next to the hotel, but son't wait too long their pastries go fast in the morning. Also a great market in the next block sells beer, wine, and prepared foods. I didn't like that the minibar was not usable for your own beverages. I also wasn't impressed by the "concierge" an overly nice guy who was clearly selling tour tickets promoted by him or the hotel with little knowledge of the tours. Make your own plans. The rooms were clean and well serviced. There is a cool but dark bar off the lobby. Make sure you check-out the downstairs 70's era ski bunny slope whirlpool- at least just to see it. The location is great- easily walking distance to the river and a 20-25 minute walk to the Navy Pier. Lots of restaurants and bars withing 1 5-10 minute walk. A really cool boutique hotel done right.

Yelp
Second stay here, still lovely and quaint. I do like the fact that it's small and personal. It is in the perfect location and it's cute and comfortable. I also like they give you a 25 dollar credit for parking. The only beef I had this time was that I had to sign a no smoking agreement when I came in, which I have absolutely no problem with. I didn't like the fact that every time I left or came back the whole entire floor reeked so bad of marijuana. If you are making people sign this form please enforce this. I am not a prude by any means but the smell is totally overwhelming and it was everywhere.

Yelp
I stayed at ACME Hotel for a night during a quick business trip to Chicago. While admittedly it was not my first choice, I decided to go with it due to its ideal location just blocks away from Magnificent Mile. And boy, am I glad I found out about this hotel. When I first walked in, a wave of trendy hip, rock-and-roll vibes swept over me. It's a nice departure from other modern hotels, and it felt unique. The front desk staff was friendly and efficiently checked me in, and they even delivered some complimentary sweets and a lovely, handwritten note. I stayed in a city view queen room, where the standard amenities include hardwood floors, 300-thread Egyptian cotton beds, Lather bath products, Amazon Alexa, robes, spa-inspired bathrooms (with a rainfall shower head), and free morning coffee or tea delivery. Because it was just me, I found the room to be a decent size, perfectly suited to my needs. Enjoyed my short stay here, and I'd come back for a funky hotel experience. I wish I had checked out the hotel bar (it looked neat and well-stocked), so next time!

Yelp
This was such a GREAT hotel. I surprised my husband with a trip, and from the peace sign at the door to all of the funky decor it did not disappoint. We only stayed one night, but if we make it cross country again, we will stay another. Make sure that you look in the alley where the mannequin trapeze artist flys. The staff was amazing as well. So accommodating. We landed in Chicago at 6:30am...super wiped out, they got us in early for a very reasonable charge. The location is great for walking around town. OH ALSOOOO...please, please, please go to Lou Malnatis (sp) Pizzeria around the corner...it did not disappoint.

Yelp
We arrived in Chicago after a three hour drive from Michigan around noon and our check in wasn't till 3pm. Thankfully the lady at the front desk let us check in early and put our stuff up in the room so we could explore the city. Along with this, they allowed us to upgrade our room and even get a city view free of charge because we used hotels.com. The hotel carries such a beautiful vintage vibe that really makes you feel cozy and warm.

Yelp
This is one of the classic finds in Chicago. This place is tucked in on Ohio off of State street. Location. Location. Location. The RedLine is one block away (Hello Wrigley) and the 36 bus line (Hello Lincoln Park) is one block away. A couple of blocks from the Magnificent Mile and walking distance to some of the worlds best restaurants (not to mention Rush Street). The pictures say a lot. The place is pretty funky. But the service! The gang at the front desk was more friendly and attentive than any "Major" brand you can think of. Go ahead. Use your Hilton points. I'll stay here and gave a good time. They have a program where they will bring a thermos of coffee to you every morning. Real hot coffee to your door in the morning. Not the crap from the small unit and bag they gave in most hotels. The housekeeping staff is wonderful and really clean it up every day. A couple of things. The rooms are on the smaller side. Think New York boutique. Our room doesn't have a closet, but we don't need one either. They have a great coffee and pastry place right next to the lobby and a bar area that was packed every night. Downstairs has a great gym area with a large jacuzzi. And thankfully, a washer and dryer. $2.00 each.

Yelp
Reception is so nice she up graded room to city view( sorry I forget her name. actually I asked name) it was nice. But unfortunately on Saturday outside was little noisy ! But it's ok. I am drunk too!! Room is kind bigger than I thought I can open my yoga mat so I can do yoga in the morning! And they bring morning coffee to the door( they knocked door) so it was perfect!! After yoga problem is only electric plug. Many hotels nowadays have plugs every side table ( not only 1 some times 3 or 4) but only 1.yes they have table they have plugs but need to my side just 1 thing disappointed this hotel. But over all ok! No swimming pool .-they open gym . They have punching bag if you have stress just punched bag at gym!!

Yelp
We spent the night at a hotel on 15th ohio st in Chicago. I really liked it. Nice bar, very clean rooms in an interesting style

Yelp
Mediocre rooms, services and amenities. Great location. Would recommend for tourists but not for business travel.

Yelp
This place is cool. It's in a great location and all the employees were very helpful and friendly. We had a problem the the door when we first checked In and they Immediately upgraded us to a king suite and it was awesome. I highly recommend this hip boutique hotel.

Yelp
I booked this hotel on AirBNB because it had a nice location and good price for Chicago. I would not stay here again, however. I felt like I was in a basement apartment in the room, very dark, not well lighted, painted medium gray, windows had black out screens, if you try to open screens, you are looking at a parking garage a few feet away. Four night stay, you only get housekeeping if you request it: I requested it, never got it. Of four mornings, two coffee screw ups: once, one thermos of coffee (there are two of us) and once both thermoses contained cold coffee - yesterday's coffee? The photo of green velvet sofas is of nightspot attached to bel that has hostess who polices entry to bar.... So hotel guests cannot use this space as a lounge. Try another spot if possible

Yelp
I booked this place based solely on Yelps ratings and photos everyone posted. I swear Yelp is the best app ever. It did not let me down! There's not much to say that lots of others haven't already said, but I'll recap and add a few photos anyway. This place was easy to find with parking next door. Everything we wanted to do was about a half mile walk from this place. The street-like / eclectic decor was a really nice change from the typical hotel stuff. The mannequins outside the window was cool. It was super clean and the staff was helpful. I love the added touches like each room having a new smart television and Echo. Fresh coffee delivered at your door if you want in a nice little thermos. Every room was stocked with a fridge full of beer and pop (added cost), and bags of snacks (also added cost). Checkout was easy, grabbed a souvenir sweatshirt on the way out. Oh, great little food place connected to the lobby. Cake pops and coffee was our choice. Definitely returning on our next trip to Chicago! Definitely!
