Canter's Deli

Deli / Bodega · Beverly Grove

Look, this many food options is a lot but if you want to stay out Canter's is probably your best bet. Don't show up before 1 AM or right after 2AM because it's either too early and you should prob just get a full 8 hours or it's when all of hollywood has to figure out how to keep the party rolling and their options are either Canter's or Bossa Nova. Get latkes, blintz, decaf coffee and buy some rugelach before sitting down to eat after the latkes.

Bar Hermanito

Bar · Sawtelle

Walk or uber- parking sucks. The round bar does a cocktail omakase (dealers choice) that gets better the slower they are and the better you are about tipping cash per drink. Mezcal and Rum esp.

Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle

Ramen Restaurant · Sawtelle

You're just not gonna get broth like this almost anywhere else. There are others that people love but the whole experience of Tsujita is worth it in my opinion (split a regular and tsukemen if possible). Go LATE and wait to get seated by grabbing a small boba from Volcano in the strip mall next door. Be trashed ideally.

Mandrake Bar

Permanently Closed

Best Bar in the city. Divey enough for your crunchiest friend but with literal fine art on the walls. There is no chance of seeing someone famous so you can actually have a convo with out of town friends without them trailing off to stare at a random

Bee Taqueria

Taco Place · West Adams

Father, Mother, Child all hang out all day as the dad serves secretly kinda avant garde tacos? It's award winning and prob gonna only get better. If you book in advance they do a Taco Omakase where everyone wears colorful ponchos which is fun. Good alt to Margot for sunset, also BYOB enough. (walking distance to Mandrake)

Margot

Roof Deck · Culver City

Good Rooftop sunset. Plan on two drinks to get there early enough to be comfortable. Vision of future-LA with the train going by, the midrise development and walkable street. The food is dank but wait for someones parents to treat you

Cha Cha Chicken

Caribbean Restaurant · Ocean Park

Split the medium jerk chicken and the coconut chicken if possible. BYOB (but don't tell anybody)

Metro Rail - Downtown Santa Monica Station (E)

Light Rail Station · Santa Monica

Take the train from Culver to the beach, it's half the reason to stay in Culver. Maybe this is where you get your second coffee?

Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook

Scenic Lookout · Blair Hills

Look, i'm sorry you didn't get a photo with the Hollywood Sign but this is a cooler walk (and if you bring a good camera you can get a solid photo of DTLA and the mountains behind you) and locals won't hate you for making them go there. Go down the steps (carefully! work your glutes, save your knees!) so everyone thinks you went up them and then actually double back up the road it's way nicer. Grab some fruit at the bottom maybe there's usually a nice lady there.

Stoneview Nature Center

Park · Blair Hills

One of those idyllic public spaces that show what cities could be like if we taxed the rich and diverted some funds from other gov groups... Best to start at the top of Kenneth Hahn and walk down Motorcycle hill and over the bridge here. Then take the path up and around Stoneview to the Culver steps

Drive all the way up the hill until you can't drive any more and then park and walk east-ish by the bathrooms to see probably the best view of Los Angeles in the city. Wilshire Corridor to the Coliseum. Huge park so lots of hiking and small trails zagging through the hillsides.

Hayden Tract

Hayden Tract

Ya gotta see this Samitaur building. Friggin NUTS this thing. anyways good quiet walk in the sun. Esp. good for second coffee

Destroyer

New American Restaurant · Hayden Tract

In-house Oat milk latte and rice porridge is their pinnacle. Good enough to brag about later and not expensive enough to avoid bringing up in mixed company

The Culver Hotel

Hotel · Downtown

Too well positioned within the neighborhood not to stay at.
