Hermanito is a chic, dog-friendly haven on Sawtelle, blending Mexican and Japanese flavors with a spacious patio perfect for laid-back gatherings.
"If you need a post-work cocktail option that’s sceney enough to feel like you’re out-out (and not just killing time until 405 traffic dies down), head to Hermanito. This Mexican-Japanese fusion bar plays your favorite pop tracks from the early 2000s and has a spacious patio for you to stretch your legs with a Japanese whiskey cocktail and delicious snacky things, like sticky pork ribs with pickled habaneros and tiny birria quesatacos stained red with smoky consommé. "Sawtelle’s best dog-friendly spot is Hermanito. The restaurant’s owner converted the side driveway and rear parking lot into outdoor dining areas that include doggy doors for “perros.” The ample space between tables leaves plenty of room for dogs while diners enjoy five-spice duck with a cocktail." - Eater Staff, Mona Holmes
"Bar Hermanito is the place to go for a winding meal paired with solid cocktails served on one of the Westside’s best patios. Hungry folks can dig into tacos of all kinds including chicken, fish, and shishito de rajas. Lighter appetites can opt for avocado fries and Tajin kale chips. A round of margaritas is a must for all." - Matthew Kang, Mona Holmes
"Over the last few years, Hermanito expanded with its sprawling patio. It’s also dog-friendly with an excellent mezcal and tequila collection, along a menu that merges Mexican with Chinese cuisine, resulting in drink-friendly food options like the al pastor pork belly bao." - Eater Staff
"Hermanito is a new Mexican cantina on Sawtelle and an excellent spot to post up after work and wait for the always-horrifying West LA traffic to die down. The large indoor/outdoor space works well for either a solo drink and some snacks at the bar, or a big group situation on the front patio. As far as the food goes, we like the chorizo smashburger and the chicharron appetizer, but wish the tacos had more of a punch. That said, the thick, pita-like shells are good enough to warrant an order or two. Then wash it all down with their spicy house-made margaritas." - Brant Cox
