"Starting next Wednesday, February 14, the Mission’s ever-fashionable Italian restaurant Beretta will introduce a new daily drink special or “bar lab” from bar manager Cali Gold that showcases innovative ingredients and techniques (wine reduced to syrup, for instance), and it coincides with a new late-night dining menu from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. by chef Ruggero Gadaldi; the previewed night-owl menu includes bourbon french toast ($10) with mascarpone & berries, benedict sweet fries ($12) with goat cheese, paprika-hollandaise and a fried egg, a bacon, egg & cheese sandwich ($11) with pancetta, sunny egg, caramelized onion and gruyere, the "oh my god" meatball sub ($12) on dutch crunch with aioli, pickles and arugula, italian nachos ($10) with fontina-spinach fondue, truffle and parmesan, and an it’s-it for $4 described as literally an it’s-it on a plate." - Caleb Pershan
