All Time Favorite Bites
Sun Ha Jang
Temporarily Closed
An all time favorite restaurant (and I’m not sure how much longer it will be open tbh), there’s only one thing really on the menu: sliced duck that confits in its own fat and about 20 cloves of garlic, only to then be turned into fried rice with perilla seeds. There’s absolutely no vibes and the hours are so random now, but it’s still the best.
Caldos de Gallina "Luis"
Mexican restaurant · Roma sur
Whenever someone goes to CDMX I tell them they have to go here, specifically for the GREEN enchiladas (not red) and the caldo both of which you just cover with literal buckets of cilantro they have.
La Azteca Tortilleria
Mexican restaurant · East Los Angeles
They will recommend the chile relleno carne asada burrito but for me if you add the CHICHARRON it just really hits. The tortilla is also so so so good.
Corner Place Restaurant
Korean restaurant · Koreatown
OG Korean bbq in LA where the meat is hit or miss but this bowl of noodles is 1000% every time. I’d get a thinly sliced brisket (that they call “deckles” for some reason) but it may be bad bc sometimes it just is. Noodles still worth the trip.
Defonte's Sandwich Shop
Sandwich shop · Red Hook
I’ve been eating this roast beef sandwich for almost 20 years and it has never let me down. The fried eggplant is actually the secretly best part.
La Cova Fumada
Tapas bar · la Barceloneta
La bomba is a deep fried meatball w mashed potatoes topped with aioli and spicy sauce
Dame
Seafood restaurant · Greenwich Village
This Summer (only sometimes) tomato sandwich is a forever favorite
Solly's Grille
Hamburger restaurant · Grover Heights
All time favorite burger, a butter cheese burger, sounds insane and feels insane but is amazing.
Old Swiss House
Swiss restaurant · Lucerne
One of my favorite things I’ve ever eaten, an all timer schnitzel by me a person who doesn’t like schnitzel
