There are many nods to Southern cooking — including house-smoked meats and owner Ari Weinzweig’s pimento cheese spread. Other good bets include thoughtfully constructed salads, a rotating selection of fresh oysters, and an unforgettable mac and cheese tossed with spit-roasted smoked chicken, corn, and green chiles — all of which are, indeed, “really good.” It’s no wonder, the James Beard Awards committee gave serious consideration to Zingerman’s Roadhouse in 2019.
