"No visit to Mexico would be complete without a visit to a 'Lucha Libre' arena. Arena Coliseo is an indoor professional wrestling arena where you get to enjoy a classic Mexican wrestling match. Once inside, you will get to experience the masks and colors, the real but dramatic fighting style, and the sound of wrestlers hitting the wooden planks. Unfortunately, we were not able to shoot the inside due to their strict no photo policy but isn't the lack of interior photos making you want to go even more?? #hype #fomo" - Bryant Castro & Abel Coss from Open Late

"A giant venue that hosts sporting and entertainment events, the Arena seats as many as 23,300 spectators. It's best known for hosting Lucha Libre wrestling matches. The stadium is sprawling, and some seats are certainly better than others, depending on how much money you're willing to fork out. If you're here because you're a true Lucha Libre fan, make sure to sit in the front row; if you're here to have a fun night out with friends, the cheap seats will do just fine." - Scarlett Lindeman

"What's this place about? A giant venue that hosts sporting and entertainment events, the Arena seats as many as 23,300 spectators. It's best known for hosting Lucha Libre wrestling matches. Tell us more. Concerts and various sporting events, plus Lucha Libre, a quintessential local Mexican wrestling experience. What's the place itself like? The stadium is sprawling, and although some seats are certainly better than others, it all depends on how much money you're willing to fork out. If you're here because you're a true Lucha Libre fan, make sure to sit in the front row; if you're here to have a fun night out with friends, the cheap seats will do just fine. Good for families, or leave the kids at home? Teens will enjoy this experience more than younger kids. And, duh, a rowdy stadium isn't the ideal spot for a sleeping baby. Anything we should know before looking into tickets? No matter who's in the ring, know this: Each wrestle will be as entertaining as the next. Lucha Libre is all about the show, so you're guaranteed a good time no matter what. Why would you recommend it, then? Come for a fun night out—one you can't get anywhere else besides Mexico City." - Mary Holland

Google
Awesome place to see Luche Libre. You are so close to the action here and the area on the upper tiers is actually better than the seats on the ground level. You can get basic snacks in there but not much. Also you are sitting directly on concrete so bring a jacket just to sit on

We went for the luchas on Sunday, lost of fun and the beer prices are low. Restrooms are clean. Getting Ubers around the area is fast.

Overall rating: 4.9 Bought from Ticketmaster Price per: $20 I’ve never been so happy I went local and just bought from Ticketmaster. I will say I don’t speak Spanish and visited with my friend who is fluent. We bought the tickets a few days in advance and the show was so much fun. We got tickets on the ground floor in the back. I didn’t realize the “show” is purely for our entertainment and thought it was actual fighting. I do wish we “splurged” and got closer seats because the butterfly woman was beautiful & watching the prison guards take away the losers was so funny. One note if you try to bring a Polaroid or physical camera, they may make you “coat check”. The security was a tad intense, but it made sense.

Booked tickets for a Lucha Libre wrestling show through Ticketmaster and got three 5th row seats for $50. The show was entertaining and fun! Lots of crazy costumes and stunts! Highly recommend! I read reviews of doing a Lucha Libre Tour with drinks and seeing wrestling but they were very expensive and I heard the seats were very high up and you couldn’t see much of the show so I opted for this version and I’m pleased with my decision. Have money to tip the lady who brings you to your seats.

Google
10/10 incredible experience watching CMLL Lucha Libre. The building itself is so authentic and makes the experience so much better. The Luchadores are extremely talented and work in tandem with the crowd to create an electric atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Google
Super fun overall. ¡¡¡Místico!!!! Note: they make you toss your liquids (water, juice, etc) before entering, or if it's a water bottle they make you chug it. Def felt like it dragged on a bit in the middle but the beginning and end had me on the edge of my seat

saturday night lucha libre was INCREDIBLE!!! this place have a full house and the atmosphere was out of this world! the wrestlers were all so good and the fans made it such a fun experience. even if youre not a wrestling fan, you will enjoy this! cheap food and beer and the ticket prices are fair as well. they put on a 2 hour show that has a good view wherever you are but try to get tickets earlier so you arent forced to buy whatever is leftover (back rows or far upper level). i cant wait to come back!!!!

Went here while on a quick trip to Mexico City with my girlfriend. It turned into the highlight of our trip! The crowd was amazing and energetic and the performers were all in and I loved it. As an “old school” wrestling fan I loved seeing the dialogue and the kayfabe never dropped. I hope Olympia was okay, she needed help getting out. Also the masks outside!! We showed up a little late so wasn’t sure if the set up was out before but right after you exit there is multiple stands selling masks. Also bring pesos. The lower level has guys running for you to grab beer and what not.

Yelp
Incredible lucha libre action can be found here at the Arena Coliseo, which is located in a bit of a sketchy part of centro in CDMX, but is known endearingly as the "people's stadium" compared to the newer and larger Arena Mexico located by the neighborhood of Roma Norte. Security was pretty tight as were the Covid protocols even though not many folks wore masks as they screamed obscenities at the luchadores. This is my first time at a Mexican wrestling match so the energy here is high and infectious. I found the good v evil drama was easy to follow and the lighting effects were quite nice. I also love how the luchadores seem so much more athletic and agile than their American wrestling counterparts. If you are interested in checking this out - and I really recommend the lucha libre experience as essential to the CDMX experience - you can order the tickets through Ticketmaster. I would also recommend Uber as a way to get to this location since this arena is in a more urban area of the city with more narrow streets.

Yelp
Went here to watch some Lucha Libra and it was amazing. Having never been to one, I had no idea what to expect. It's like a baseball game where vendors bring around drinks and snacks, and you get to watch several matches. We paid to sit in the second row behind the ring, and it was so much fun. Highly recommend to get as close as possible.

Yelp
When in Mexico City, one must attend a Lucha Libre --Mexican wrestling. I'm not really into these type of sports, but it was quite entertaining. We arrived half an hour before the show started to buy tickets at the box office. We got Row 2 tickets for less than $12 each. Once inside, there's people coming around with food, masks, drinks, and all things for purchase. Definitely worth the experience! A couple things to note: they do not allow cameras (so I had to check mine in to be picked up after the show) and the restrooms sometimes did not have toilet paper (like most places in CDMX, carry some extra toilet paper with you!).

Yelp
Do yourself a favor-head to this arena and watch some lucha libre. 4 stars for the local feel and delicious Micheladas. Is it swanky? Nope. Is the neighborhood something to check out? Not really. Did the taxi driver totally rip us off? Yup. So why 4 stars? 'Cause we had fun cheering on and booing with the locals.

Yelp
1st time wrestling match live pretty entertaining and hilarious About 2 hours long fresh drinks and fresh snacks

Yelp
Do not miss the Lucha Libre experience if in DF! Came here with a friend from DF and he explained that there are 2 main arenas for lucha, and this this one is the older, more traditional, smaller and perhaps rundown. The other is Arena Mexico which is supposed to be bigger and perhaps more of a production. I loved the feel of this one. Skip any tours or online stuff and buy your cheap tix directly at the door of the arena just like the locals. Come ready with insults in Spanish, as it seems half the fun is getting out all your angst and emotions by yelling them at the luchadores, and if you yell a really good one, they might even look at you and engage in an exchange with you. Sitting front row was quite the experience, I recommend that. You can buy popcorn and beer from your seat. Coming with a local I got to learn a lot about the collective consciousness and magical realism surrounding this ritual, the shame of one's mask being taken off, etc., but the experience even without that is fascinating and often, hilarious. The names alone are amazing ("Superporky" among others). There was a 9 year old girl who was clearly a regular sitting behind us yelling the most vile insults of all, seated right next to her father. There are wrestlers that come out with live snakes on their necks and some pretty other inventive costumes. After the show, wait outside to take your picture with the exiting wrestlers. Don't miss this.

Yelp
* * * * * TOURISTS THIS PLACE ITS A MUST TO VISIT ON SUNDAY LATE AFTERNOONS // DONT BE SCARED AWAY BY THE AREA OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT // * * * * * I guess one of the things that earth knows mexico for its, lucha libre (professional wrestling). The arena coliseo its an icon and a place to enjoy some good afternoon lucha libre by yourself, with the family, the BF/GF and best with friends this all by a fraction of money.... it really isnt too expensive if you really into some wrestling. for about 200 pesos per person you will have a great time, bring your own treats, well something not too tacky and no bottled drinks, but well they sell some pricy snacks and beer inside too. Place stills hangs there, really there is no commodities in this place, besides paying for floor level tickets where you will sit on an old wooden chair, everything seems to be as it could've been 60yrs ago, place could use a lil touch up, place still gets a good audience and on the 2nd level area that has cement seating areas, it could get really cold on your bottoms, always bring and extra sweater or quilt if you are cold sensitive. I hope they would adapt some plastic seats to this cement seating area, something like what they did at the estadio azteca. This place is primarily used for, Lucha libre, shows promoted by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and served as the promotion's main venue from 1943 until 1956, which therefore was replaced by the Arena mexico, this place also hosted major box matches. Place was built by Salvador Lutteroth, the father of lucha libre, after winning the mexican lottery, this guy was an icon really, he served the army on the revolution and always loving the showbuzz he started the lucha libre. You will usally see the same luchadores mostly on all the shows, its rare when they get some varierity, like makes you think that there has to be more luchadores, but well for first timers its the greatest place on earth thou.

Yelp
Ha, I still can't believe I did this. We were staying in an apartment right next to the Coliseo so we really had to check out the infamous Lucha Libre. Buying tickets was a bit confusing, since we were not sure when the booth opens. On the day of the show we stopped by at 3pm but the booth was closed, stopped by again at 4pm and it was open. The line for tickets really starts around 6pm - but it moves fast and the crowd was having fun :-) The show started at 7:30 and we went through a quick security screening and found our seats. We bought tickets for row 2 which was ~230 MXN. The show itself was OMG very entertaining. We speak very little Spanish so we just shouted the same words as the group behind us. I don't think they were very nice words :-) The performers were really cool and they do interact with audience in the first row. The length was just about right so we weren't bored. The street outside gets really quiet at night, but not unsafe. There were torta and taco stands outside for a quick bite, and plenty of snacks/drink vendors during the show.

Yelp
A must go in Mexico City! Sunday is Family night and whole families wear those masks. There are about 5 shows and after 1 or 2 you get the hang of it. People from Mexico are great people and know how to have a good time.

Kory G.

Yelp
Scammed at the front door, sold tickets 5 minutes before closing and wouldn't provide refund. Lied about closing time and said we had hours before closing. Lost 1200 mxd.

Yelp
I'm only giving one star because I can't give zero. We got completely scammed at this place, do not trust this business. We bought our tickets at 200 pesos per person and were escorted to our seats by an "employee" without being told the show was about to be over in 5 mins and then the owner himself refused to return our money, claiming that the tickets had been sold by "a third party vendor", and there was nothing he could do. So they basically have scammers working the front door to get rid of extra tickets they didn't sell. The security guards and everyone else seem to be in on it, because they all just let him escort us in without any tickets in hand, knowing the show was about to be over. This business did nothing to help us get our money back or correct the situation. Leaves a very bad reputation for this business. Will be taking my business and money to Arena Mexico from now on.

Yelp
The perfect blend of a 1940s building and 21st century Lucha Libre. You can't go wrong when visiting this venue, it's comfortable, has a vintage feeling to it, tickets are cheap and the overall experience is priceless.
