"Feel the Vibe on Winnifred Beach This gem of a beach, located in the lush eastern parish of Portland, isn’t visible to the naked eye. Halfway between Frenchman's Cove and Boston Bay, you’ll need a four-wheel vehicle to go down a very narrow and rugged path off the main highway, unmarked and bumpy all the way to the beach below. Anyone will be happy to direct you when you ask. And once there, you’ll find a gorgeous golden sand beach, dotted with trees and facing deep turquoise waters. A nice mix of locals and the occasional savvy or returning visitors relax here. There are jerk stands on site, serving some of the best local dishes, crafts vendors and occasional live Reggae. The water is a stunning deep turquoise and ideal for snorkeling off a nearby reef. It’s one of the few gorgeous stretches to remain public in Jamaica . Get there while you can."

"Winnifred is my favorite public beach in Jamaica, and has such a local charm. We arrived and were greeted by a beautiful beach bonfire waiting to be lit at sunset."

Nice little public beach that is readily accessible to anyone. I wouldn't say it's the best beach in Portland, but it is definitely one that can pass. The environment was clean, and the vibe was nice. This is really one of the few 'free' beaches you can find there Well, the admission is free, yes, but every now again, especially on the weekends, they may ask for a contribution. They say it goes towards helping with the maintainace of the beach. I don't mind giving a contribution for that purpose, because it's a beautiful beach and it takes money to keep things in good condition. Parking isn't an issue. There is plenty of space. There are some stalls there that I think sell food and beverages. I didn't really go over there, so I dont have much to say there. The beach, at the time of my visit, did have a sea urchin issue. They took over a large part of the sea bed... Not sure if that's the case nowadays, though.

My friends and I came here three times during our stay in Portland. Each time was a fun experience. Shout out to the people who take care of this place and make it a home. Everyone should come here and support the locals! Make sure you go to the river at the far end from the entrance. This is a really beautiful place!

Beautiful place. Traders were there trying to earn a few dollars but were not at all pushy. Beach was spotless and entry was a donation for the upkeep of the beach. Fresh water showers were also available.

This beach is local and open to anyone. We had the beat steam fish ever here at Cinthia's restaurant to the left as you enter the beach. Most delicious food ever.

Lovely beach. Music, loads of food and activity excursions. A lot of hassling from businesses but a nice place to spend the day. Not the nicest beach along this coast line in Portland. Expect to pay a contribution to enter. Parking is readily available metres from the beach. Not the easiest road to get there tho.

We had to pay to enter. We gave 500JMD for a car full. Expect to pay 500JMD for a Bud, Heineken or Red Stripe. When we entered 3 different vendors approached us to highlight which was their stall. The beach was dirty. My children found half a glass beer bottle in the shallows. The toilets are dirty. There was no water in the pipes for the showers or taps. There was no toilet paper. The roads to get down were really bad. Worse than the main, which is awful too. Watch out for the spikey things on the sea bed, stones and sea week.

Even though this beach is listed as free, when we got there it say s make a contribution but then the person in charge at the gate tells you to pay $200 per person. Yes compare to other beaches it affordable but these are not made known before you get there so you can plan ahead. Then you still have to pay to use the restroom and listen if its ten times you need to use the restroom then thats the amount of time you have to pay. We kinda felt ripped off. Separate and apart from that, the beach was clean and we had a great time. The beach is long but alot of sea urge (sea egg). advice to you avoid the dark grassy areas. The tides arnt high good for swimming and relaxing with family and friends. You can bring your own food or purchase from the locals. There is a rope that you can swing off into the water.

I haven't been to Winifred Beach in years, but somehow, I don't remember that much Rock (fish stone we like to call them) spreading along the beach. This used to be the preferred beach growing up, but now that I'm older, I don't really care to come here. Good thing about this beach. You have access to plenty of vendors on the beach and the opportunity to go on a boat ride. I'm sure you will enjoy your time but it's just not the beach I remembered. Don't forget to give a contribution at the gate.
