I frequent this shop for some of the best barrel picks you can find in town. The sandwiches are out of this world too! One owner is a sommelier and the other a true bourbon aficionado. They are passionate and educated in their business. Everything at Wine + Market is quality.

This was my favorite lunch spot by far while visiting Lexington. It's just like stepping back in time. It seemed to me it was female-owned, and they knew exactly what their loyal customers like. The cheese selection alone is worth coming and doing some shopping. They do have raw cheeses although they're not marked very well. I had a salad, and the cheese plate which was just enough. The room to the back is a really nice liquor store with very hard to find gin. I found a bottle there that I've been looking for for over a year.

Last night's Holiday Food and Wine Pairings ZOOM was such a festive event. We has a white, three red, port and a sparkling, all were great option for pairing with Thanksgiving and Christmas food. The Butternut Curry Soup, Duck Confit and Strawberry Trifle were delicious. Reneé offered stories and pairing options for all the wines and I can't wait to use some of them at the Holidays, limited as they will be there is no reason not to live it up in smaller groups. The 2 oz bottles of wines and pretty little plates of food all came in a bakers box with reheating instruction, an educational worksheet and menu with pairings. She paired 2 wines with each course and it was fun to see the differences. Look for her next class -- they are delicious, fun and educational!

Love this place! If you live here or visit here it is a top place to go! They know their wine and bourbon and the sandwiches are top notch! The one pictured is so good! Went to a cheese tasting on my first visit to this shop, and it was absolutely delightful! Laura was really pleasant and well informed about all of the cheeses, and the atmosphere was just so much fun! They also have a great wine room! Definitely a new go-to spot!

Excellent locally owned source for beer, wine and spirits. Wide selection of wines that is personally curated by the owners. They only stock food wine. And they've for price points for all budgets. Good spirits selection and lots of beers! If you're in town for a visit and staying downtown, this is your spot for beer wine and spirits!

Popped into Wine+Market for some wine and enjoyed seeing that they offer more than wine and liquor! There was a great selection of wine, beer, liquor and some basic staples for making a cheese board! The store was hosting a cheese sampling/wine pairing while we were in and I'd love to do that with a group of friends soon.

Love this place! I can't believe I've never been here before. Outside is like a cross between a little house that fits into the neighborhood and a little cafe. The inside looks like something from Europe - white tiles, large mirrors, spacious lighting. The sandwich menu is phenomenal, and really, they have so much more than wine! The seltzer and beer options are lovely, and what's great is that you can get one of each, or a whole pack! Parking is along the street, or in their tiny lot behind them.

A friend and I dropped in for sandwiches and a beer, which was really good! The store itself is awesome from the way the tables are set up you can navigate without feeling like your intruding on people sitting and eating. We did buy some macarons to take home and they didn't disappoint either! From my house it's a straight shot walking which is a good thing. They have a great selection of items and if I'm not mistaken I saw a pretty old Madeline baking pan on display. The people that work there are more then friendly enough. Its one of those neighborhood gems!

What a wonderful little gem in downtown Lexington. I had a great experience at Wine + Market. The employees were able to make suggestions for the perfect cheese and meat charcuterie board to go with my beer. The shop is bright and cozy with a separate room for wine purchases. I didn't get a sandwich -- but they looked amazing! Awesome craft beer selection too. Don't miss this spot!

Great neighborhood shop for specialty liquors, beer and wine, as well as cheeses. We're here a lot since we live nearby. They also have bread from Sunrise Bakery, and if you want something specific you can call a day in advance and they will reserve a loaf for you. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. Definitely pay them a visit if you're nearby!

I must be the only person in town that wasn't completely in love with this place. Myself and a friend went for a late lunch and had a strange experience. We wanted to order sandwiches and maybe a bottle of wine. When we walked in, there were 2 girls behind the deli counter. No one greeted us and honestly we had no idea how to go about ordering since the girls were clearly busy. We sat down at a table just looking around and finally we were told we could just them them our order. OK... So then I panicked and ordered the wrong sandwich. D'oh! Oh well. We started looking over the chilled wines. We grabbed a bottle and brought it to the table. When we asked for glasses, we were told they were not allowed to serve wine. WTH?!? Back in to the cold case it went. We were told they could serve bottled beer. As it turns out, I wanted to have wine, not beer which is how we ended up at W+M. My sandwich was french ham on a buttered baguette. The baguette was so chewy, my jaw hurt after eating 1/2 of the sandwich. My friend loved her panini. Yeah, so I am not in love. The service was not what I was expecting and not being able to serve wine at the wine + market seems like a huge design flaw.

Great atmosphere, wonderful service and superb selection. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Lex.

I wish there was a wine and market on every other corner in downtown Lexington, a city in dire need of more bodegas, especially of European fair that sells spirits and wine of actual tastes. Great ambiance. Feels like a slice of Europe here in Lex. Rene is a wonderful sommelier and knows what she is doing with the place.

Why 4 stars? Because this adds a big city feel to Lex. --- --- --- I'd say Wine Market feels like New York, but it's probably too large for that. Maybe SF? Well, wherever it feels like, it's not Kentucky. And that's not a rip on Kentucky. I mean, I've spent all of 48 hours in the state, but Wine Market is definitely not what I expected to run into. I had a prosciutto sandwich and enjoyed it. They have quite the beer selection here, as well as obviously a great bit of wine. Definitely a vibe that I dig.

This place is wonderful. Great sandwiches at lunch, amazing atmosphere, good service, solid deli selection, legitimate beer selection, and of course...walls of wine. The setting is great right on the corner of 2nd and Jefferson. The staff is always courteous. The wait never long. Two thumbs way up.

One of downtown's gems. You can never go wrong with their wine recommendations. And their cheese... So good!! The classes that they regularly hold are fun to do for a girls' night out as well.

Wine + Market is exactly like what it sounds. Split half and half, the space is divided by wine and fine gourmet foods. We stopped in thinking it was a place to grab a drink so don't be fooled - this place does not have a liquor license so there is no place to uncork a bottle you buy or a bar here. It is simply a stop and grab kind of place. They had a great selection of wines and a particularly large selection of rosé. The meat and cheese selection is also very local and curated to fit all different tastes. If I lived here I would probably spend a fortune on the reg. Pro tip: on your way out, be sure to check-in for a free macaron or coffee!

Talk about a wine lovers paradise, this is it. Leaving the Yelp event, we had a sweet tooth craving only a macaroon could take care of. We had been meaning to do a wine night for quite sometime and on a whim this became the perfect night for it. They have a great selection of wines to fit your fancy. They also have a great assortment of macaroons, cheeses, crackers and more to pair with. Barely making it 20 minutes til close we didn't get to explore quite like we wanted but the service was great considering the time it was and we look forward to going back soon.

Great spot to get everything you need for your next cocktail hour. Build a beautiful charcuterie platter from their great selection of cheese and salumeria. Great selection of craft wines snd liquor.

This place is really great and I'm surprised it's not more busy than it is. They have FREE wine tastings on Fridays where the store's owner offers some pours and describes the vintages and what to pair with. We've also come for a charcuterie plate snack which is really big for what you pay and the staff are really knowledgeable in their cheese offerings. Additionally, they have a huge selection of beers that are priced the same as if you bought them at Kroger or the liquor store except you can buy single cans to drink in the store.

Absolutely delicious!! I went with my sister and we split #10 and #2. The turkey with goat cheese and strawberry rhubarb preserves on focaccia was both our favorite! The employees were all incredibly friendly with recommendations and made sure we enjoyed everything we had. We'll definitely be coming back soon! Also, you can have any of their sandwiches hot if you ask for it to be on the panini press, definitely making sure I get the turkey and goat cheese hot next time

Almost every time I'm in Lexington, I stop here for lunch, but what I'd really like to do is quit my job and work here. This deli/international mini-market/liquor store/cozy-casual dining room is an epicurean fantasyland. I have tried many of their sandwiches after having been stuck on the Kentucky Cuban for the first several visits. (Today I had #8 - Focaccia with Genoa - perfetto!) I enjoy looking at the interesting and well-curated dry goods (e.g., French cassis candies, German digestives, Spanish sardines, mussels, and octopus), and buying some for myself and others as gifts that I may or may not later reclaim for myself. (Sorry, Susan. Your French butter cookies were fantastic, and the beautiful tin now holds my coin collection, but you liked your gift certificate, right?)

8.8/10 - My friend took me here in the middle of the day for sandwiches and I was confused at first, then I tried one of their sandwiches and I immediately understood the hype. Everyone is so sweet there and they know everything that you need to know or maybe didn't think you needed to know about wine. Drink and be amazed, my friends.

Parking: Street Parking Drinks: Be aware, they do not serve wine. Food: Sandwiches, cheese, meats This place is fantastic. It is located on Jefferson street just down from Grey Goose. The parking is limited to street parking. As soon as I walked in, it felt like I had travelled a thousand miles away. There are two separate rooms inside. The first is the market/deli. They have delicious sandwiches- my favorite are the #2 (cheese/arugula/pear) and #7 (Chorizo/manchego/artichoke). They are also an upscale market with meat, cheese, and a variety of other delicacies (macaroons, yum!). The second part is the wine. Impeccable wine selection. There is also a wine tasting every Friday from 5-8 which is very casual. Renee is also able to find wines if you are having trouble finding a particular one. This is a Lexington treasure, check it out!

Such a great little spot. We live nearby and frequent often. They offer delicious sandwiches and a great selection of beer and wine (often beer thats more difficult to find). They also offer a nice wine tasting on Friday evenings. Beer is priced right as well. Cute gifts for sale in the shop, as well as, coffee and baked goods. I'm a sucker for macaroons and theirs are delicious!

I'm not much of a wine drinker so I hadn't visited before this year. In the past I have gone to the mousetrap to get my father gourmet cheeses as gifts. This Christmas the Mousetrap's cheese selection was very small so I headed over to Wine + Market to see if they had a better selection. I was impressed. The shop is tidy and packed full of awesome stuff, not just wine but all kinds of snacks and cooking utensils and gifts. The cheese case was big and varied and best of all the nice lady behind it actually knew what she was talking about. They were definitely not snobby about it but clearly knew their stuff and were happy to help me based on what I could tell them about Dad's preferences. They did a great job and Dad really liked all four of our selections. The cheese was reasonably priced for what it was. My companion bought a selection of some of the unusual beers and really enjoyed them as well. The employees were also very hygienic behind the cheese counter which I very much appreciate. They wrapped my cheeses according to how I was going to be using them. I will definitely go back, and not just for Dad's next gift! I was concerned parking might be an issue but I had no trouble finding a spot nearby even during the Christmas shopping rush.

I'm 29 days into a Whole30 and Wine + Market is the place I miss the most. Says a lot about my priorities, right? I miss the nights where we decided to forgo dinner in lieu of amazing cheese and crackers and a bottle of wine from Wine+Market. I miss Friday night wine tastings. I miss macarons, and dark chocolate, and craft beer. And I miss the sandwiches. Oh the sandwiches! Really I'm just torturing myself now. I'm lucky enough to live within walking distance of this awesome little market, but even if I didn't I'd still be visiting often. It's an amazing shop with high quality wines and delicious food perfect for a picnic or a date night at home. You better believe it'll be my first stop once I can splurge in my diet again!

Absolutely lovely space with equally lovely food and service. I often call in one of their delicious sandwiches to take out for lunch and it's always there waiting for me. My favorite is the #9: turkey and goat cheese with strawberry-rhubarb preserve on a Sunrise bakery ciabatta. Also fantastic is having a certified sommelier who can select and source fine wines. Recently, I'd been looking for a prosecco that my wife and I had enjoyed on our prior anniversary dinner at 610 Magnolia. I couldn't track it down in state (and Kentucky's asinine laws make it so I can't order online), but Renée found it and had two bottles to me by the weekend. Lexington should be grateful to have such a wonderful place.

A hidden gem in Lexington!! This place is adorable and there is nothing else quite like it. You can go to the deli side and order sandwiches and specialty cheese or you can shop their wine selections! The only downside was that they don't sell wine by the glass.

Last night I had my second free wine tasting here. I think it's only three wines offered every Friday 5-8pm. Both times that I've been, I left in awe of the person's passion and knowledge of wine. Where do they get these people?! The wine portion of the market is in it's own classy setting, the sandwich/deli part of the market is at the front, as you first walk in and it has a country/European market feel. I've not dined here but they do have a wide array of cheeses and deli meats. Tonight, they also featured a seasonal beer tasting, which I don't think they do often. It was four large pours for $4. The guy pouring the tasting apparently worked for a beer distributor and not the market, but he too was knowledgeable and passionate about the beer. This place is unlike no other in Lexington or that I've ever been to. It is a must try, especially on a Friday 5-8.

This is one of my favorite locations that makes me regret not living closer to downtown! I would visit this place every day if I could. The concept is such a unique one in Lexington combining a quality deli/market with a wine shop, though I know similar places exist in the East coast and Europe. Deli sandwiches are tasty and unique. They offer several different beer and wine sampling events. Their wine tasting events are lead by one of the owners who is also a certified Sommelier. She is very knowledgable and passionate about what she does and she picks great wines to sample. Friday evenings they offer free wine tasting 5-8pm but they also offer more in-depth wine classes on a regular basis. Make sure you get on their e-mail list to find out about the upcoming events!

Wine + Market is an amazing place to grab a great bottle of wine that is probably one you haven't run into elsewhere in town. Krim, the owner, is always ready with a suggestion should you need help. The market side of the equation is where it really shines, I think. Jars full of every dried herb and spice, nuts, dried fruits, olives, etc for you to purchase in bulk. A "pantry" selection of oils, vinegars, pastas, dried beans, local coffee, grits, etc. The cheese case is well stocked with all the classics, a few local cheeses, and some surprises. All of the cheeses are cut and wrapped to order, so don't expect to run in and out in two minutes. Slow down, take a few minutes to browse around while you wait! There's usually a nice selection of seasonal, local produce to boot. Please, please, please be sure to grab a sammy here sometime. The duck sandwich is life changing, and the same argument could be made for the banana nutella panini too.

If you need a good bottle of wine, Wine + Market likely has it (or can find and order it for you). They also have an impressive selection of beers, and other delicious goodies as well. The best part is, they also have fabulous sandwiches if you want to pop in over lunch too! Wine + Market also has a number of classes/tastings throughout the year so you can hone your skills and try new things. Their staff is always helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere is sophisticated and trendy. Wine + Market is a gem over on Jefferson.

This quickly became my go to stop while visiting Lexington. The folks there are amazing and I found myself hanging out chit chatting about everything from bourbon, wine, the amazing selection of cheese and meet. If you're a Lexington community member - get over there. If you're visiting, stop by, get a beautiful sandwich (there is gluten free bread option-let them know if you're celiac), taste some bourbon, enjoy the conversation.

We were in town to finish up one of the last stops on the Bourbon trail. After all that bourbon we needed some sustenance and I saw that this place was nearby and how good reviews on yelp. So glad we stopped here. This is the best sandwich I've had in a year! They had a really good variety of sandwiches. They are made fresh after you order the. The bread was deliciously crusty, and they had Ale 8 to drink. The only bad thing is that they only had 2 girls working behind the counter so it was a bit slow, but the sandwich was so good it was totally worth it.

This is the first time I have been to this business and ended up meeting Halide after work one day. It is a really cute concept. They have a coffee shop with a little market/deli on one side and a full blown wine shop on the other. If you check in on Yelp, you get a free coffee or a Macaroon. I love getting free stuff. On this specific night, they were doing wine tastings. The owner was giving out free tastings of 3 great wines she had hand picked for the evening. She had picked these specific wines to be tasted as a flight and to go with Thanksgiving if needed. I like that she was thinking ahead. Her palette was so refined. She had described nuances of the wines that my taste buds didn't pick up on until she had mentioned it. So from what I gather, every Friday night from 5 to 8 pm they do free tastings of some of the great wines they sell. The owner also mentioned wine classes that they teach. Love this concept. If wine isn't your cup of tea, your dreams are not lost. They also sell other random spirits as well, but the focus for the most part is their wine. The atmosphere is dimly lit in the wine room, but very bright and deli like in the cafe side. If you are in the area, stop in and check them out. The service here is outstanding as well. Questions are encouraged as well. This was a very much needed business for Lexington downtown area.

Love, love, love! Walked here from work for a sandwich. I have been wanting to try it and the nice weather finally lured me this way. This shop is legitimately adorable and hip. The staff were very nice and patient as I decided what to order. I decided to try the chorizo panini that came with spinach, artichoke hearts and manchego cheese. It was absolutely delicious! And man, this sandwich was made from scratch - chorizo freshly shaved, artichoke hearts and cheese freshly sliced, etc. Now, that being said, I was the only customer in there and it still took about 10 minutes to make the sandwich. This is not a place to expect food quickly - I can't even imagine how long it would take if there were a line. I also found it a tad pricey, but they are clearly using high-end ingredients. Great food items for sale and of course, the beer and wine. I would love to come back for a wine tasting. This is also a great place to pick up food for a picnic in Gratz Park (note to husband - plan romantic lunch for me!).

I just love this place. The selection and quality are top-notch, as is the service. It feels so European to take a walk here, chat up the help for recommendations and leave to enjoy the goods. Plus, they do tastings, events and lunch! If you haven't been, GO. Now.

This place is so good. I had it on my list to try, and I'm so glad we made it over there. I love going for Charcuterie boards. These can get really pricey, but the ones at Wine + Market are very affordable. I love that you get the option to choose your cheeses and meats. That's a really great way to let you try different varieties. The sandwiches are also delicious. I've been a few times, and have never been disappointed.

We did not eat here but I really wish we had based on some of the pictures and reviews I am seeing on here. We came to purchase some pre-dinner snacks and drinks to go. They have a decent variety of cheese, meats and snacks to purchase. They have a little bit of produce, some essentials like butter and oils as well. We ended up with 2 cheeses, 2 meats, crackers and a loaf of bread for a pre-dinner snack to take home. They did run out of a few of their baked goods by 5pm, but from what I could tell they have about 5 types of breads and 5 types of cookies. They also have bulk dried fruits and nuts you van buy by weight. There were people sitting around on computers hanging out, it seems like a nice place to do that. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming. We also partook in the wine tasting which they have Fridays from 5-8. We popped in right at 5 and were able to taste all 3 wines in 15 mins and head out. Its a pretty casual situation, just walk in, find the lady serving the wine and she will tell you what you're drinking and answer your questions. You just stand around all the wine bottles in the back room while you sip some wine. It is probably a bit cramped and I can see it being somewhat chaotic if it gets crowded but it was fine for us.

I found the Wine Market to be quite attractive and comfortable. The food was very good. I enjoyed the #1 (Jambon, buerre and cornichons (uploaded a photo of it)). The staff was extremely friendly and the whole experience was very positive. I recommend you stop by the Wine Market if you're in Lexington or passing by.

Food: 3 stars. Tasty and light (5 stars). Presentation is simple. The handwritten menu is quite limited: almost all 12 sandwich choice has all processed meats (ham, turkey, beef, duck confit). Two salad choices with just the name "W+M Salad" for one. Also, only three sandwich bread choices: Panini, baguette, and Ciabatta. Coffee drinks and Tea are offered. No half-and-half cream or whole milk. No ice. I understand the store is signaling they are health-conscious by eliminating some fatty choices even in the drinks. I also understand some diners don't care for cream, whole milk, or ice in their beverages. I just thought of such limitations are silly, unless they represent significant cost savings, which seem unlikely. More importantly, such limitations seem to convey unnecessarily a judgement that whole milk and cream are bad for you and hence should not be consumed. I would argue it's for a consumer to decide what he would like and what's good for him. Paying customers having a good dining experience should be given the aunt most consideration. Hence, I deduct two stars for the limitations and "quirks" above. In case you wonder, I drink black coffee and am indifferent between iced water and water of room temperature. My rating is not merely a result of personal preference for certain items not offered in the restaurant. Service: 2 stars at best. One register by the door and people can order "small" number of items there. We waited in line for at least two minutes only to be told to order sandwich at the other counter across the register. We were not asked about our beverage choice when placing the order. It was not obvious at all where to get water until we asked the person who delivered the sandwich. Worse yet, the lady behind the sandwich counter was working on something and for so long, she did not look up to ask if we want to order any sandwich until we started feeling we must have been inconveniencing her and probably should order the sandwich elsewhere. Her description of the salad, when asked, was incomplete at best. Her attitude indifferent. We decided to try our luck by staying for lunch simply because we were curious about the restaurant that received such rave reviews. I have been to New York City at least half a dozen times. I've also visited San Francisco and other large cities. I do not think this one belongs in any of them. Needless to say, we do not plan to return.

This place is hands down the best little market and wine shop this side of the Mason Dixon. Period. Impeccable wine selection (hand picked by Lexington's only sommelier), substantial beer options (hand picked by an avid beer drinker :)), and outstanding bourbon and small batch spirit offerings make this a top-quality beverage shop. Food-wise, all the sandwiches are fantastic and made with top-notch ingredients -- all of which are also available to purchase. Great cheese and meat selection, and also small but good selection of dry and canned goods. Also, the olive oil they sell here is terrific. Free wine tastings every Friday evening, frequent beer tastings, monthly wine and/or cheese classes, and, occasionally, a meal and spirit pairing event offer good opportunities to sample something new and exciting. Great place.

I have had the privilege to know both the current owners, and the folks that opened the place. Therefore, I have seen W&M open and lead the redevelopment of Jefferson Street, and have enjoyed their evolution into a full service beer and wine shop with excellent food and tantalizing pastries. For lunch, you can get a hand made sandwich for around $8-10, and it won't disappoint. For shopping, you can stock up on craft beer, wine, cheese and bread and various other confections. They also host wine and beer tastings every week, and will help point you in the right direction for pairings with either beer or wine. The decor is no frills but not harsh, and the atmosphere is warm in inviting. There's something for everyone here, and there's no excuse to not drop by at any time of day and pick something up.

Amazing selection of wine, cheese, and beer! The main attraction for me is the deli though! Great farm tables for you to sit and eat unique sandwiches with fresh ingredients and fantastic bread. Highly recommend this for anyone in the area

The turkey, goat cheese, and preserves. Holy smokes. It is so good. And the pears! Our office frequents Wine + Market in the summertime as it offer such a nice light lunch! The did start skimping on preserves and then charging extra when we asked for additional preserves on the sandwich so that's kinda crappy. Pricey for a sandwich, but expected at a specialty shop.

Had the #3 Country Ham sandwich and it was awesome. They made my sandwich with speed and care. Really great place for food wine and bourbon.

This is a wonderful little wine and market in Lexington. The owners are there everyday and offer their expert advice on which wine and accompaniments to buy. The female owner is especially knowledgable about different wines and hosts free wine tastings on Fridays. The price of the wines is fairly reasonable. They also have small market/deli inside. The cheese selection is top notch for Lexington. The baguettes are amazing. The small menu of sandwiches offered are quite tasty. Vegetarian friendly. Have already recommended on several occasions and will be back!
