Windsor Barra Hotel

A very nice stay. The rooms are large, with nice views and very clean. The beds are large and very comfortable..The staff are friendly, and the breakfast varied and fresh. We enjoyed our time at this hotel

The hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. The rooms are very outdated. The staff is not the most friendly. The hotels in a great location. Prices are reasonable. But I wouldn’t stay here again. We were only here for a conference and we are complaining to the coordinators about the hotel. They should have booked a better hotel. We’ve been going to the conference for 20 years and this was the lowest quality hotel we’ve ever had to stay in for the conference. I also learned that people who didn’t book through the conference paid 1/3 of what we paid. The conference should have had a group rate for booking hundreds of rooms. Very disappointed.

We stayed here the 2nd time after 12 years.||Picked a similar room as we had 1st time: ocean view king suite. It is a bit more expensive than their cheapest rooms, but EXCELLENT value for money. We had room on the 12th floor directly overlooking the waves with two windows. As the hotel and beach is to the south, you get BOTH sunrise and sunset view from your room...see photos attached:)||Room is good size, reasonably fresh with only a bit of age and spots here and there. Cleaning is ok, and hotel is in excellent safe area with direct beach access.||We much prefer Barra da Tijuca anyway, against the overhyped and crowded, expensive copacabana. But each to his own.||||Hotel itself (lobby etc) is nice, staff is great, restaurant has very good food. The cocktails of their bar at ground floor as well as by the pool are excellent quality and cheap (as usual in Brazil).||||HOWEVER... a big however... After booking directly via their "secure" website, via Amex card, my card details were either sold or re-used by somebody at the hotel staff, as BEFORE our actual trip began, it started being used at various (online?) shops in Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte and even in Madrid.||I had already a 600 euro hit (in some 10 different fraudulous shoppings) before i realized and blocked it.||Lucky with Amex's good insurance policy i did not lose money directly on this, nevertheless i ended up with no Amex card on my 2-weeks Brazil trip as oi didnt have the new one yet, and in general it gave a bitter taste to this stay.||||Because of this i have to reduce the rating.||||So a word of advice:||Book this hotel with confidence, BUT book it via a well-known room broker website, NOT directly thru the Windsor website!

In summary, very disappointing. Marketing photos are a lie, no umbrellas by the pool, no sunbeds or umbrellas on the beach. We asked the duty manager and they claimed that they can't have umbrellas by the pool due to the wind but hotels opposite with the same level rooftop pools have them and from old photos it appears this hotel used to have them. He also claimed the ones on the lower level have broken. Like so many things in this hotel it appears hotel management are unwilling to invest in replacing old and broken things. The rooms are looking very old and worn, with mould on the ceiling of the bathroom, and clearly haven't been updated in 20+ years. The level of cleaning isn't great which makes it worse. Level of service and room amenities are also poor: had to call 3 times for a baby cot bed and iron for the room, and no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms. I don't understand how this hotel can be classified 4* without basic amenities and such old/worn decor. Also don't bother trying to order food at the rooftop pool as it takes over an hour when it's busy, despite them saying 15mins, and they don't keep track of who ordered first so don't be surprised if someone else orders after you but gets their food sooner. A huge shame as the location is amazing. The hotel could make a lot more money if they were willing to invest.

Loved our experience and stay. Breakfast was delicious. Very inviting and comforting like the pao de quiejo. Service excellent.

For a five-star hotel, I would hope for the overall better state of the hotel's facilities — especially the bathrooms are not in very good shape with mould in the shower. Also, when one asks about drinking water, the only proposed option is to drink the 2€/330ml bottled water from the minibar. I guess that's not OK.

Its a ok+ hotel. Nice employees which gives a very good service. I'm here for work, and seems to be a business focused hotel. With that said, the internet is very bad. When you have connection its good, but you have to log in every 30 minutes or even less. This process takes up to 10-15 minutes each time. Ive given up work, very annoying.

The hotel have an amazing location and a fare price. The pool have and excellent view and a bar. The rooms are old and need an update and better maintenance and an additional effort for clean better the room and the bathroom. The size of the room is good and the partial view was great.

Great location, price and best view ever! Also the restaurant offers a fabulous breakfast buffet with all sorts of food.

This is a good hotel across from the beach. Very clean and secure. They offer beach service: towels that you pick up on SS1 and then on the beach they have umbrellas and chairs (if available). Breakfast buffet is included and very good. Service is slow so if you are a coffee drinker and expect to drink a few cups you will have to patiently wait for a server or if you are lucky, they might leave the coffee in your table. The pool is located on the top floor and is never crowded. They also have clean pool towels. Just help yourself. Things that they could improve: - service is slow - valet is even worse. If you are in a hurry, call ahead to ask for your car and have patience to wait some more. One time it took 30 MINuTES to get our car - Internet : wifi is slow and you pay for it There are a few restaurants close by. The pasta one next door is fancy and more expensive. The steak house to the other side is good but seat were greasy. I prefer wallking a few more blocks and going to "Baladinha Mix" to eat some brazilian food and nice juices. We ate at the hotel a few times for lunch and dinner and it was too expensive for what they had. Just when is raining but their "Feijoada" on Saturday is delicious and you must try if you like black beans. ;-) Esse hotel é bem localizado na praia na Barra. Bem limpo e seguro mas nao é perfeito. Falaram 5 estrelas mas nao concordo. Alguns elevadores nao funcionam para alguns andares, o serviço no cafe da manha é muito lento e a internet nao é de graça como a maioria dos hoteis 5 estrelas!!! Voce paga R$30 por dia pela Internet Eles oferecem toalhas pra praia no sub solo, e cadeiras e guarda sol tb na praia quando estao disponiveis. Na cobertura onde fica a piscina, eles tambem tem toalhas a disposicao e lanchonete. Para jantar e almoçar fomos raramente ao restaurante do hotel pois é muito caro para o que oferece. De sabado eles tem uma feijoada deliciosa com batidinha de coco mas o resto da semana eu prefiro caminhar e ir em outros restaurantes maravilhosos de frente pra praia tb. Gostaria muito que o Maitre na hora do cafe da manha parasse de bater papo com os outros funcionarios e prestasse atençao aos hospedes com xicaras vazias. O Chef que faz os waffles e omeletes é uma simpatia e otimo na cozinha. O cafe da manha vale a pena especialmente por causa do omelete dele.

Is is very well located with very well services and amenities. It looks like a hotel from the 80's, kinda old.It is in front of the beach, with gym, pool and great restaurant. The food is brazilian, lots of fruits and local food. Staff is very nice and helpful. The only things like a lot of hotels in Brazil is that they charge per internet use everywhere. So, even if you come for business I don't think that's right. It is OK and useful.

I recently stayed at the Windsor Marapendi and I was very impressed by the Windsor hotel chain. I assumed that all of the Windsor hotels would be of such high quality. Boy was I wrong. The service with a smile is non existent at this Windsor. I don't know where to begin. My thermostat is broken and when I called for maintenance they said they could not fix it or put me in another room. Their is ants in my room. I ordered room service and within thirty minutes of leaving my food in the tray my room was inundated with ants. They lost my laundry. I had my do not disturb sign hung up and guess what. A housekeeper opened the door anyway. Luckily I was not in a compromising situation. What good is a do not disturb sign if the employees don't obey it. I asked to speak to the manager and I waited for 30 minutes. I finally had to go. I still haven't spoke to the manager yet. No follow up. No apology. My room service orders have been wrong every time I order. The housekeeper does a terrible job cleaning my room. I think they just make my bed and empty the trash cans. Nothing else. I tried to use a bell cart for 2 cases of water and other items that I bought and they told me I wasn't allowed to use it because it was not luggage. I was in disbelief. I've never heard such a thing. I was in the restaurant and asked for the check. It took the usual 5 minutes to get anything around here. I was running late for a meeting so I told the host that I would sign the check when I got back. He put his hand on me and demanded that I wait for the check. Who does that?? This hotel should be removed from the chain. Or they need to replace the managers. The only reason I gave this place one star is because of Gabriel, the Food and Beverage manager. He has been the only positive part of my stay at this hotel. Stay away if you can or stay down the road at the Windsor Marapendi.
