Nice place to spend an hour there, but don’t expect a lot…

Was a really interesting museum. A modern twist on wine history and leans more toward the cultural significance than the actual process of producing. Plenty to keep kids interested as well. Bonus it’s in the castle!

Somehow strange, moreover a museum for imagination and inventivity; not at all what you would expect for such museum quite expensive. Old castle refurbished. Vieux from the top terrace are beautiful - you can see all the valley! Visitors are advised to take the elevator to the third floor and go down by stairs to the basement, where they can taste and buy some wine. Tasting is not free and its cost depends on the price of wine. If you do not buy wine don’t bother to go to the basement as there are many stairs and later you have to go up :)

Very strange museum if you want to know more about the wines of the area. It only gives you an understanding of the history of wine and will tell you the story of wine making in a very artistic way, a bit too much for us. You even don't get a glass of wine or small wine tasting at the end of the tour which you would expect if you visit a wine museum.

We came to educate ourselves indoors on a rainy day in the lowest season. Paid 9 euros each and were terribly disappointed. This is a museum to experience multimedia barolo wine art. There is a small amount of information on the computer screens but signal to noise was very low. Id rather have spent my time outside in the rain somewhere away from touristic barolo and enjoying the misty views and the air. I was finished with the museum and slightly angry in less than 10 minutes, best part for me was the exercise of climbing the stairs. In the basement- free! - and independent of the museum - is the winery agnostic ecoteca where a knowledgable man was available to discuss wine and the piedmont wine industry and also present samples of expensive barolo wines. This was what we were seeking and didnt even need to pay for it. My advice is that if you are seeking an authentic anything you should stay far from the marketing heavy tourist construction that is barolo.

To me it was mostly a waste of time. There was an interesting history of wine making but there is no decor or furniture like you would expect in a preserved castle.

Museums are not usually what I like best about traveling, but I loved visiting this museum. I found it visually appealing and colorful. Perfect view from the top outside. The subject matter, wine, is fun for me, and I thought it was presented well, including educational material that was fresh to me.
