I ordered a side salad that was big enough for a meal. It was fresh and delicious with corn bread croutons. There were LOTS of cucumbers which were not listed on the menu I (#allergygirl) picked them out one by one! Worth it but be aware if you don’t like them. I also had the green Chile chicken tacos. Wow! Delicious

Our big conference group (at least 40 people) came in last minute due to a mechanical error closing the restaurant we had originally planned to have our event (only one hour before the event!) We enjoyed playing music bingo and food was delicious. It was only $7 during Happy Hour for my chicken tender meal. Drinks were well made.

The Westport Ale House had an excellent deck for when the weather is good. We were there on a beautiful day of 72 degrees. At 4:30, the place was pretty empty. By 5:30, the deck had quite a few people. The food wasn't anything to write home about. Standard fried bar fare can be had for reasonable prices. I gave them an extra star for the bartender was extremely friendly and went out of his way to provide good service.

Westport Ale House has a great location with a vibrant vibe at nighttime! The "Larger Than Life' Mahomes art mural on the side of the building has drawn in quite a crowd recently. During holidays Ale House always has lines waiting outside to get into the fun atmosphere of the bar. The nighttime is a bit too loud and crazy for my preference, however during the day I found it to be quite chill. I do like the variety of handcrafted beers on tap and diverse selection of spirits. The staff are helpful in answering questions and happy to have you there. During the warmer months live music is hosted on their outdoor balcony on the top deck which is a fun time. If you can handle the crowds, Ale House is a great spot to chill over drinks!

Tons of televisions for watching sports - especially fun if Kansas City or an area team has a big game. Huge rooftop patio which makes good weather even better. Tends to get pretty overrun at night on the weekends - long lines to get in and an overly yuppy crowd. You get what you sign up for.

Great happy hour specials til 7 weekdays on food and beer. Great selection of unique drafts. Was impressed will return.

Looks like a great place! We sat at a table and my husband ordered drinks at bar. Waitress came over and gave us menus and said she would be back. Was looking forward to ordering the poppers but we finished our drinks and she never came back. We had seen her sitting and chatting. We left. Maybe next time service will be better.

Great burger...egg and bacon. Crazy sports vibe on game day. Great service...hard to communicate with crowd and DJ.

I came here during the day with some friends to grab some lunch. The bartender let us know it was open seating so we sat ourselves. They let us know that there was a short amount of staff and that they also had a rooftop party reserved so we could not go up there either. We had to order from the bar where we grabbed drinks and food. Unfortunately I felt like i knew their tap menu more than the staff. When we did need something, we had to continuously go to the bar and it took a while to get help and/or find help. The music was loud as well during the day when it was practically empty. I would definitely consider this a place to attend at night and probably not recommended for daytime meals.

It's Pride weekend and we wanted to check out a new-to-us bar. When we walked in, it was all but empty and it's Friday. We were greeted by loud music, three gawking patrons plus the bartender who looked at us and pointed to the stairs. Upon walking up several flights, we managed to make it to the rooftop bar. We approached the bar, a younger female was working, no acknowledgement of us stepping up to quench our thirst and appetites, there was zero costumer service in this entire place, and it's huge! We played corn hole after receiving our beers next to the largest, blaring speaker; apparently we were attending a concert? We didn't try any food. Again, we were at the bar, just sitting there, staring at the menus tucked in a stack across the way, she never asked us if we needed anything, menu, etc. The only conversation that occurred, was between the bartender and another employee. They talked about being angry that the bar wasn't closed for Pride, their sexual orientation, and numerous other topics and complaints about their jobs. If you check out Ale House just know, it looks cool, it may help pass the time, but you're on your own and must ask and apparently be assertive with your needs/wants with drinks and food. We won't return, I prefer to spend my money somewhere we feel welcome and that has good customer service.

First time stopping in for a Friday Happy Hour. Walking up it seems like a cool spot with the giant chiefs mural on the outside. We arrived at roughly 6pm to surprising ghost town inside. The music however was loud enough for a fully packed establishment. Despite the lack of customers, the upstairs bartender was not welcoming or engaging. We were never offered menus and if there was a Happy Hour, we did not receive the discount. This will be our only stop at this establishment.

Just okay experience. I don't know what I was expecting in terms of experience tbh, but I was here on a Saturday afternoon around 2ish and the situation was very casual. Like too casual. I was with my teenager so she didn't feel comfortable sitting at the bar, so we chose a table where I could see the bartender. Maybe I missed a sign saying there's no table service but after waiting a while I ordered our food at the bar. It was okay, bar quality food. I was looking for a good lager rec and the best thing they had on tap was Yuengling, which was just okay. Not too crowded, lots of seating, huge tv screens but otherwise everything else was just okay.

This was my first time at the Ale House. I picked the spot to watch the Super Bowl. I arrived at 11:30 AM, although the game didn't start until 5:30 PM...I am glad I did! The crowd and the hype was unbelievably awesome! The food we ordered was great! From the Buffalo wings, garlic Parmesan wings, and chicken nachos, we had enough to feed everyone at our table pLus leftovers. I liked the garlic Parmesan wings the best. They were fried to a nice crisp. The only thing I didn't care for was the watery blue cheese dressing. The drink special was $5 Crown and $5 Kettle One. They kept their regular Game Day menu for the event. There was a $20 cover. Since this was my first time, I wasn't sure if they charge a cover on a regular basis. I will definitely be back. The atmosphere, staff, and service was great!

A few weeks ago I met with a small party at this place a and it was by far the worst service I've ever experienced. 1st of all we stood at the entrance and there were empty tables full of dirty dishes. We had to wait for the tables to be bust only to see a security lady doing it after we were trying to find someone to talk to about getting a table. 15 to 20 minutes we finally had a place to sit. The waitress was rude. Trying to bullybus into buying more drinks. She didn't check on us. We flagged down other staff to help only for them to say they would get her. During our waiting time we ordered our drinks from the bar bc she wouldn't come back to us. It took her 45 minutes just to get back to us for us to ask her for the check. Long story long I will never go back to this place.

Great food and service. Super cool place that I'd like to visit again. We were here on a Sat afternoon and it was quiet and chill. I'm sure that changes later on!

A buddy & I decided to watch a KU game at a bar and I looked up a beat sports bar in KC. Google found me Westport ale house which was a sports bar and much more lol. Ultimately, it was not what I expected. This spot is more a mix of club & tap house then a traditional bar vibe for sports. If you are looking for loud music, security, and bar service style seating, this is the spot. It was very lively place and was jumping once the game started. The food is pretty bad and totally tasted microwaved. I had the stuff tots that was less tots and more a dough ball with cheese in the middle. Cocktails were very plain, reminiscent of a concept drink. But regardless, beer good, big tvs and a bunch of people summarizes this place. I give it a 3 out of 5 stars simply for the bad cocktails and food. Everything else was fine and the service was very attentive at the bar.

This place is always bumpin. And they have food. Taco tuesdays are wonderful. Always have great DJs and dancing!!!

The Ale House kind of reminds me of those upscale sports lounges that were popular a little while back. You know, 40/40 Club ESPN on the screen? Anyway, enough of that. This venue is part sports bar, part nightclub and all party. It houses an obscene amount of flat screen tvs that work together with a premium sound system to deliver you an optimal viewing experience for whatever game you've come to watch. Those tvs and the sound system also work together with a menu full of bomb shots, among other adult beverages, to provide an optimal after dark nightclub experience. Last, but not least, I didn't venture upstairs to check, but from what I hear, the rooftop deck is one of the best places in town to see and be seen. I'll admit, most of my late nights are behind me, but I do like going out to watch a big game. My visit was perfectly acceptable. Friendly prompt service, a-ok food and cold drinks. I had a good time.

Nice spot with great service. You need to try the Ale House Lemonade for a refreshing summer drink!!

I'm Only Giving Them A 4 Because I Came At A Weird Time But They Was Nice I Liked The Place ! The DJ Was Super Cool & Im Not From Kansas But When I Go Back Ima Come Show Love Again

We stopped by Friday night from out of town. Everyone was so welcoming. We were so excited to actually be out! The bar was set up great and we were greeted by any employee who saw us. Unfortunately they didn't serve food. It says "Ale House" in the name. Our bad on not getting a clue. Anyway, we didn't stay for even a drink because we had traveled all day and starving. Even sitting for one could have turned into a bad idea. But, next time we'll be ready! It looks like an awesome, friendly place to spend some time!

Great sports bar with tons of screens to watch your favorite game on. The beer and cocktail menu is broad and well made. They have a great menu with a good selection of pretty cool bar food. Quite enjoyable.

Westport Ale House is so much more than just your typical sports bar. With a beautiful roof deck (also covered/heated in the event of bad weather), this place can be transformed in to a nice event space that is perfect for private events. Back in October, my husband and I hosted our Friday wedding rehearsal dinner and welcome event at Westport Ale House and couldn't have been more happy with how the event turned out. The entire roof deck was privately reserved for our event from 5 to 11 PM and was the perfect space for both adults and children as they had Cornhole and Giant Connect Four to keep us entertained. Throughout the entire process, we worked with Mike (the manager). Mike was incredible to work with- professional, accommodating, and overall a stellar guy. Mike and Israel (the head chef) created a high quality 4-course sit down menu for our rehearsal dinner and a more casual buffet style menu for our welcome event. Dinner consisted of a fresh organic salad, charcuterie plate, choice of entree: pork chop, roast chicken, or squash pasta, topped off with a brownie ice cream sundae for dessert. The food was exquisite and everyone really enjoyed the dinner. The presentation of the food was beautiful and the portions were incredibly generous. [I just wish I had taken more photos of the food!] The service throughout the evening was top notch and we can't thank the team at Westport Ale House enough for hosting such a wonderful event for our wedding!

Love this place for Chiefs games, but it's also just a great place to grab some beers and eat some good food in one of the cooler areas of Kansas City. The rooftop at Ale House is awesome.

If you're getting food, get the nachos. If you're drinking, get whatever the hell you want. They've got it all.

This is a great place to stop in if you are catching a sports game, lots of TV's and open space. The food is hit and miss on the menu, however I would recommend their nachos, those were pretty good. If you are a KU fan, this is def the place to go to get a great atmosphere on game day!

I had a terrible experience on a Saturday night. I had reserved a table ahead of time for my boyfriend's birthday and everything went smoothly for that. You pay a $250 deposit and you need to spend $250 collectively in your booth in order to not get charged the difference. Or you can select bottle service. 10 people get skip the line and cover for free and there is a 20% gratuity in each tab. Our waitress was amazing! Because it was my boyfriend's birthday I wanted the DJ to do a shout out, so I made my way to the DJ booth but was stopped by a very aggressive "bouncer." He hardly made eye contact with me and said that Ale House was too busy tonight to make any request. This blows my mind as Ale House is busy every single night and DJs get requests frequently. I explained to him that I paid for a table and would kindly like to have a birthday shout out. He told me in the rudest way, it wasn't going to happen (see photos of "bouncer"). Then, the booth next to us had a ton of people in it sitting on the back of the booth (with their backs into our table) which is typically not allowed. I noticed somebody was standing on the booth seat (he was very short) so a person in our party did the same. We were told to get down off the seat, but the party next to us did not get in trouble. I proceeded to ask a worker as to why they were allowed to do certain things but we were not. The response I received was "oh this person knows and hangs out with Travis Kelce." OK cool well I know Patrick Mahomes so now will you let me participate in those activities? Mind you, TK was not present. Absolutely insane the way we were treated. It makes me not want to go back at all. See photos!

My brother was killed here recently, Someone pulled a gun on him INSIDE their facility when a fight broke out security did not try to deescalate the situation, they pushed everyone out the front door. the fight led outside and still the 3 off duty police officers did not deescalate the situation, did not use there mace outside although it could have ended the confrontation. If I could give this place negative stars I would.

The food has given me food poisoning multiple times, and the service is extremely hit or miss (mostly miss). The only thing they had going for them way Thursday trivia, and they cancelled that. Would not recommend.

Shooting happened. We got forced out. Over charged in the process. They were quick to run cards && get signatures. Didn't bother to get me the food I ordered. I called 3 times requesting a manager to figure it out. Was promised a call back. Never happened.

You guys charging a cover for nothing at 4:25 on a Sunday afternoon? Good luck with that policy.

This is probably one of my favorite bars to visit when the Chiefs are playing. The dj is rocking, the crowd is packed but super cool, and the food is good. I'd also like to point out that our drinks were A-1. They were heavy on the alcohol and light on the mixer... just how I like it. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for a laid back, but cool Sunday Funday venue.

The security team and front of house staff are a huge liability to the company and desperately need discrimination training! I repeat! It seems as though there's no one here reinforcing professional and FAIR behavior. I've witnessed discriminatory behavior and practices take many forms here, which I'm almost shocked there aren't more reviews here discussing the sour reputation of this bar and lack of fair accommodation. The first time I tried to get into Westport Ale House there was a line snaking down the street, which has to be a good sign. I don't think I'm alone when I'd say that this kind of place was necessary for Westport. It's got a trendy design inside, but man oh man are there plentiful TV's. You can't turn your neck without seeing some game on. I wasn't in a beer mood (what?!) but I will say the beer list we looked at was just okay. I'd seen Yelp reviews and pictures of the food and really had my doubts. However, my fiancee hit a home run with her lunch - a Tank 7 Reuben (house-cured corned beef, Boulevard Tank 7 sauerkraut, special sauce, swiss cheese, rye bread). Holy cow was it good. It was smoky like BBQ and the cured beef had a bacon-like flavor. I'd go back just for that sandwich. My wrap was alright, but I'd already filled up on jalapeno bottle caps. Westport continues to evolve into a cooler, more laid-back spot before midnight and that's the way I like it. I think (however trendy Ale House is) that it's a really nice addition and a bit of a jack of all trades.

Fun place to come when you want to watch a big game, though it can be crazy hectic here on the weekends. Normally there are lines out the door on a Friday or Saturday night. I am a fan of their fried Mac and cheese balls -- super tasty, especially with the sauce which is a little on the tangy/spicy side. I think their 3 sliders for $8.95 is also a great deal, and they come with fries (which isn't mentioned on the menu)! That was plenty of food for me. I had only been able to finish one slider and some fries, taking the leftovers home. The beer selection is plenty -- and they offer unique beers that you don't see at most bars. I definitely recommend coming here, but I don't think waiting outside is worth it. It's definitely fine to come on a weekday, but I wouldn't rave and say it's worth the wait. Cool interior though. Modern + abstract design with some of their decor. Cool lighting in the women's bathroom too!

I have attended many work events at the Ale House over the years and always have a great experience. The service and food are great. It's a fun atmosphere with lots of TVs and a nice rooftop with games, full bar, and lots of seating.

Hard to write review, was not there very long. Got there at 4 for Happy Hour, first customers, not a problem getting waited on. We had Pretzel bites and French fries both good sauce on bites was great. Good beer selection. Would definitely go back

Nice roof top bar with fans, security and bar staff were super friendly. Pizza was the special that night and was great for only $8.

Thought to check this place out after driving past it a couple times thinking it looked fun. Really enjoyed this place! Nice menu. Great apps. Fun drinks and specials everyday. Pretzel bites are soooo good! Slow, kinda inattentive service but very friendly.

Great spot in Westport for quality beers and snacks. Fairly large beer menu featuring local KC and regional beers as well as beers from east and west coast. Featured beers from Colorado during this visit.

Wow wow wow! Cam in think sure a brew.... na this has a very chill atmosphere beer and bar food! (Tuesday) Kaylee said $1 tacos "let's do one of each" and then she said $3 Corona, and Dos Equis! "Yep yep enough Dos Equis" seconds later brew here and 4-5 mins later tacos are here!!! Boom great jobs Ale House won't be the last time here for my pre game!

As Westport transitions into a neighborhood of hyper-niched restaurants and watering-holes, there's something comforting about a new development that is basically just a bar. Don't get me wrong, I like that we're getting people that laser focus on concepts like "champagne bar" or "bourbon bar", it's nice to once in a while be able to visit a place that is simply a "bar". I wold say that Westport Ale House is like a Kelly's or Harpo's for people who are too hip to visit Kelly's or Harpo's. It's a big bar that is good for groups or watching a game, in a decidedly more upscale and adult environment than the spots I had just mentioned. This would be a great meeting place to start or end your evening, and once that rooftop patio is finished, I predict it's going to be a day-drinking destination! I have yet to eat here, but drank a number of good beers. The list isn't going to blow people away, and is far from the best in Westport, let alone in KC as a whole, but every beer snob shold be able to find something they'll enjoy. The service has been on point, as well. Time will tell if this becomes a destination for my circle of friends, but I'll always be happy to stop by and enjoy a drink.

Nice draft and bottle beer selection. Also I had an adult cherry limeade! It was fantastic. Food was good I had the taco trio and my other 2 companions had burgers. Service was attentive. Only issue was someone was having a sneezing and coughing attack in the back before our food came out so we were a little freaked out. Tons of TV's!

Awesome bar and grill in the heart of Westport. While the crowd here is mainly young and in the "bro culture" the food is outstanding and the atmosphere is unmatched. You can't go wrong with the rooftop bar in the summer, a cold boulevard wheat and some of their fries. Just be sure to close your tab out if you use a card, they'll charge a big fee if you don't. Visited the Westport Ale House last night and was very unsatisfied. Bar tender was more interested in chatting with his friends. Tonight a very different story!! Last night, only 15-20 people in the place. Tonight, probably 100 or more. Same number of service folks (2). Kaley was awesome!! Got 300% more service with a packed house as I did with an empty house. I will tip her well!!

I had to get the rating of this joint up before the hatery on the internet killed it. Let me set the scence a little yall: Yes I said ya'll I am a native of this area and recently moved to AZ and I am extremely upset that I moved before I had a chance to enjoy this great establishment on a more regular basis before I moved. Anyways, I came back home around late April early May (and yes it still felt like winter) to my favorite subsection of south KC to see a large, contemporary space naming itself as an ale house. The decor is simple and modern but it has a very warm feeling, definitely one of those joints that can become a neighborhood favorite with time. The beer selection hosts a revolving door of everything from 312 brew (Goose Island) to some select favorites in the 480 (Four Peaks...they served Four Peaks at this joint. Amazing). Go for the beer and stay for the way they use beer in their food selections, namely the Take 7 doughnuts. if you could imagine a traditional Thai Doughnut only with the zesty, slightly heavy qualities of a Belgian wheat beer and smooth vanilla ice cream with heavy cream you'd imagine what it's like to be a multi millionaire. Dont live a thousand-aire's life, go to Westport Ale House damnit...now!

I rather like this place, but have a hard time explaining why. It is definitely not a gastropub, and my preference in bars leans towards gastropubs offering innovative new preparations, seafood, vegetarian food, and a few international options. Westport Ale House offers none of that. It is a traditional bar offering only traditional bar food. Nevertheless, judged relative to what it is, I like it a lot. The bar area is spacious and open, with an interesting environment and friendly service. I have not seen the rooftop bar, but the main bar is very pleasant. Although they emphasize beers and ales, they do have a full bar, including some wines and even Macallan excellent Scotch. Parking in this part of Westport is an art form. But don't give up. If you know where to look, parking spaces are available nearby.

Generally have always liked this place but Nothing like finding a piece of food in your drink.
