Westchester Golf Course

I haven't played in about a decade and wanted to get around to all the courses I've played before. No need to go back. Greens were just aerated, but didn't seem like they'd be great. Not too bad, though. Can't say that about the tee boxes. Terrible, not flat, chopped up. I'm general fairways, around the greens, etc. had no consistency in the mowing. Range is all dirt with a few small green patches, and off mats with no shade. Short par 62, and only took 4:10, so they pace was decent. The weather was nice. So, yeah, just inconsistent. I'll continue to drive to courses a bit further away and cost only 10-15 more.

There HAS to be a way to speed up pace of play here. If not, then drop the prices by $10-$20. I like playing here and the course is fine, albeit short. The food/lounge area is great and the service is great, too. Just PLEASE figure out how to not overbook. It shouldn't take 6 hours to play!

This place is exactly what you would expect for a municipal course. The greens (some of them) are the only decent part of the course. They are well kept and roll true. Fairway and tee boxes are completely beat up and overall not maintained very well. Decent spot for the price and good walk around a short track. Don’t get a cart, it’s 4500 yards.

Course needs more maintenance. Very crowded and slow play. More of a drinker’s course than players course. Not bad if you can get a cheap tee time but I feel pricey for what you get. Driving range and chipping area a bit pricey as well.

Excellent place to practice for affordable rates! I haven’t played golf in many years and wanted to start again so decided to come here and the guy Chris in the pro shop was very friendly. It was only $12 to rent a large bucket of balls I think about 110 and the golf club rental is free. Definitely recommend this place to everyone.

I’ve played and frequent the driving range. The driving range here is cool. People are pretty friendly and plenty of parking. I like listening to the music they play and looking at the planes takeoff. I plan to hit my ball so far that I hit one! Lol.

Easy access on the road,big course and cafe area are comfortable. And cool.site.for.old couple dating,, youngster also can.date

It's a great value for night golf at $20 after 5pm during the week. The lights are okay but not great in some holes so make sure to keep it in the fairway. If you get a light up ball, buy from Amazon and don't use the ones sold in the pro shop. If you play during the day, know that pace of play can be super slow but you can usually walk 18 holes in 3-4 hours in the weekday evenings after the sun sets. Greens are in good condition, and fairways and tee boxes are okay. But for $20 night golf in LA, you can't beat it!

Arrived at the range on a Saturday night around 6:30 and there were a lot of stalls open! I've never gone to this range before as I usually go to Rancho, but this might be my new go-to. Rancho is always crowded especially at peak times in the evening, but Westchester was so open and spacious! A large bucket is $20 and a medium is $15, which is pretty expensive, but hey, it's golf. There was an older male staff walking by to collect buckets, and he was super friendly and helpful as he gave my boyfriend some really good advice to fix his swing. The mats were okay -- they had two types green mats in one and 4 tee spots, definitely could be cleaned up or fixed up a bit. Definitely would come again - quiet, spacious, and a huge parking lot! The only thing is the frequent airplane noises as LAX is just around the corner.

I frequent this course, and overall it's not bad for a chill round. The pace of play is brutal though, so if you only have time for a quick round, this isn't the place to go. It's a shorter course but time wise, plays just as long, if not longer than a full par 72 course.

The course itself is fine, overall plays fine and people are friendly and very beginner friendly. Now, to whoever was behind the desk working today, 10/13/24 around 12-30-1pm, short bald older Caucasian man -- was completely unprofessional when we had an issue with our cart malfunctioning during the day. The cart would randomly cut off and the employee said "all the carts suck, you need to reset it". Which of course who knows how to randomly reset a golf cart?. He had a poor attitude and then proceeded to half ass assist me with a new cart which didn't even have a key in it. He replied "you can use any key, use your keys" as if I had some readily available. Overall I like this course but that guy is unprofessional and ruined what would've been a good experience.

Fun course....but they book tee times wayyy too close to each other. It is really annoying waiting anywhere from 15 to 30 mins in between each hole. Pace of play is terrible. Good luck finishing your round if you book after 2pm on a weekend and some weekdays, too! FIX IT ASAP, please! Smh.

If you're not gonna do anything about play time, then drop the price by like 10-15 bucks and there will be no issues. Seriously slow. You can't get a rhythm going at all. Very frustrating.

Was scoping out places to go golf and this course looked nice. However, there was a thin man with longish grey hair and gauges wearing a grey camo tee (not sure if he worked there) who almost ran us over in a golf cart and yelled at us to "get out". Will not be returning!!!

In my eyes this is the new Victoria . Waste of time and money had two groups of 5 in front of us!! didn't let us play through one group Leaving T's on the green and T box even after letting the ambassador know he said "well Im busy " then just proceeded to put his jacket on and stand next to his cart . Ridiculous waste of time will never be returning here

Alright, alright... I have ran by this golf course more times than I can count and driven by it even more than that. It took having a friend move to SoCal for me to finally step foot onto the premises. So far, we've only gone to the driving range, twice. The first time, we got the $17 basket of balls and hit about 15 of them before it started getting dark and the lights did not go on. Apparently, something happened to the lights and the employees weren't sure if they'd go on that night. As time passed and the darkness got darker, it was evident the lights weren't turning on so we actually took the rest of our balls and returned a few days later on a Sunday morning to finish the basket. In my two experiences here, I found the driving range to be crowded and the service leaves a LOT to be desired. I am interested in taking lessons but petrified to ask the employees for more information because they're miserable and being in their presence seems to be a huge annoyance for them. I hope I can catch someone on a good day because this course is so close to my house, it would be the perfect spot for me to learn how to really play the game.

Rip off. Paid $46 to golf here (fee + cart) which is way too expensive for this crappy course. Especially since city courses are much cheaper. Holes were closed, greens were not taken care of and tee times suck! Seriously, you wait about 10 minutes per hole just to tee off. I understand construction and all but a notice that' there's a few obstacles/ closed holes would be great Lower the prices for golfers since you can't play the entire course as you should. Funny part is I hit a great drive only to go up to my ball and be told by the construction worker the hole was closed. Deflating lol. Just a terrible place to golf in its current state. Staff is super nice but this isn't worth the money. Pro tip: if you do decide to play here keep your head on a swivel. Course is super narrow and ball fly everywhere. I've gotten hit a few times.

The course is not bad and fun, but they pack that course way too much . The front 9 took 4 hours !!! I left !!! Will never come back which is sad because it the course is decent. STOP PACKING COURSES !!!!!

The driving range is very nice and spacious! Lots of mats and I find this range cleaner than other public ones. The course however is ok. They offer carts which is nice but the fairways are a little too narrow for my liking. I was teeing off very close to the next tee and was losing balls often. They have a good range of long and short holes though so great for practicing.

I came to this course from out of town with no clubs. They told me that there was rentals however, there was not much to pick from. The clubhouse didn't even have a driver to use. The large bucket holds 110 balls or so, each of the three sub-par clubs at $2/each cost me $26. The range was huge, no issues getting a bay. They have a little snack shack in middle with beers, soda, Gatorade and some light food. You can also purchase balls here in the middle of the range. As was iterated in many other reviews, the staff was quite unpleasant and not very helpful. I walked 45 minutes from LAX while waiting on a 3 hour layover...to be 'greated' by staff. Why can't you be nice or personable? Not everyone sits at a golf course all day like you do, do better for the people and your crappy Yelp rating because of staff.

You won't ever finish under 5 hours. 8 minute intervals for tee times, 3 groups waiting on most holes on the front, even on a Monday at 2pm. Don't waste your money.

Great course to practice. A staple in the area, Westchester is convenient and had a large driving range with quality instructors.

Don't Oder food from the grill when on the course, have tried ordering from the 7th multiple times and they're never ready. When you get there, they'll tell you they've been busy and then start it then, even though there's only a couple tables. (they have a sign on the at the 8th tee saying order snacks ahead and if you do it then you'll never get it for an hour. ) Course overall is OK/good for the price

SAVE YOUR MONEY. The cons definitely outweigh the pros at this course. To start off, the green fees and range buckets are ridiculous. $20 for 115 balls? That's a rip off. When I played on a weekday at 12. I still had to 20-30 minutes a hole. Ended the round in 5-6 hours. They even charge per hour for the chipping area. I heard that's not cheap either. The line to check in was so backed up and the staff there were super grumpy for no reason. Construction was being done in the middle of the fairways so a quarter of the course was basically unplayable. They are making a killing out here with these prices and 7 minute interval tee times. 2/10, there are better opportunities to golf out there.

Probably the best golf course in Los Angeles. Includes driving range, practice chipping area, and a downwind par 5! It offers a scorable but punishing golf course. Don't be right on the third hole. The top talent of LA golf is attracted to this magical course. Not to mention famous people swarm this oceanside course. I have personally seen Shaq, Byron Scott, and Doc Rivers. I also heard Aaron Rodgers played there. Westchester Golf Course also has a wide variety of wildlife. The second hole is home to an alligator, but do not fret. He never leaves the second hole pond. The 9th hole big tree houses a red-tailed hawk family, and the 17th hole is home to the fox. Only the luckiest people can see this fox; the best time is 5 am, when the course opens. There is or was a swan with a limp, but I have not seen him in a while. This is the best course in the continental US, maybe slightly behind Augusta or Pebble. All the reviews that slander this course are wrong, and those Yelpers should lose their license to Yelp "Steven N and Brandan H" in particular.

Cool little course. A bit cramped though. Gotta keep ur head on a swivel. Driving range was lacking. The staff was great though! Course was just average. Well kept though.

Really fun course, painfully slow pace - the price is way too high for the pace of play. A real shame because I do really enjoy the course.

This is the first golf course that I've been to that "prefers" not to have solo players, because it "slows down the pace of play". This is despite the course being 2/3 empty on a Monday morning. And, of course, ashen wasn't provided until I arrived, despite having called ahead to request a solo tee time.

Nothing spectacular but it gets the job done is about the best way to describe it. This course is an executive course par is 64. We booked an early morning tee time--earliest you can do is 5:30am. They have lights out on the course so you can play early morning or later in the afternoon. Driving range and course were pretty busy by late morning. First few holes usually get backed up, but after that pace of play was decent we finished in 4 hours. Price was a bit high considering it's not a regulation course. Course conditions are WELL watered--you're more likely to hit fat than thin. Have fun sniping those geese if you're one to hit grounders or shanks! OR hit em long and straight!

*Restaurant Review Only* The original Snack Shack @ Westy has been remodeled into the Ocean Breeze Grille Restaurant with a bunch of new menu items including the Smoked Jalapeno Cheesesteak (not quite Philly quality, but deec), the Mexicali Chicken Wrap (healthier option) and my favorite, Blanca's Original Chicken Tacos (ordered with a side of their crunchy battered french fries). Of course, they have the classics, hot dogs and burgers, but unfortunately there's still no option to solicit the help of a Bloody Mary or shot of Jim Beam during your round ;( The new indoor/outdoor patio is perfect for watching players tee off on #1 or making the turn on #9, as well as talking smack (or paying up) after the round while catching a game or two on one of their flatscreens.

I haven't been to a driving range in probably 15 years so I had no idea what to expect. The driving range is very chill. You pay for whatever size bucket of golf balls (large is $17 I believe) and then pick an open lane. I think you can rent golf clubs where the pro shop is, but I'm not sure since we brought our own. The driving range is separate from the golf course. We had a great time enjoying the sun and hitting golf balls. All 3 of us in our group were beginners so we were just having fun. I'm surprised I haven't been out here sooner!

I visited the Westchester Golf Course Range. I went there with a friend to practice our golf swings. We are both very new to golf and just starting to pick up the sport. While we were there, the guy working actually came over to help us with our swing which was very thoughtful and nice of him. He gave us some great tips and made us feel welcomed. They have a lot of driving range stalls which makes for no waiting time! We enjoyed our time very much and will definitely be going back!

The GOOD: Nice practice area and very large practice putting green. The BAD: The course is in horrible shape and it takes forever. The GREEDY: $10 for 35 golf balls at the range? And yes, that's a small bucket. It was $6 less than 6 months ago, $8, 2 months ago and now $10. I mean, there's inflation and then this. It's not like their facility is getting any better! Your hitting into dirt at the driving range and their yardages are incorrect. The DISTURBING: The staff working there are really not friendly at all. Like...NONE of them!

Way to expensive for: 1) uneven tee boxes 2) work being done in the middle of the only par 5 3) rudeness of staff (starter was like one of the old men muppets- without the humor) 4) no hand sanitizer in port-o-potty's 5) slow on a weekday at 1 *** last resort for golfing in LA

Westchester golf course is close to LAX international airport. It can be windy at times but very challenging. Lots of wildlife on the course geese rabbits hawks. I also have a newly revamped eating area and kitchen great tasting food. We play here at least once a month if not more come out and have a good time.

Public course. Good rates. One Par 5. Mostly Par 4 & Par 3. Totally walkable. Night golf is probably my favorite time to go, especially Mon-Thursday because it can get crowded on weekends for that. Course isn't the sexiest thing by any means, but pay for what you get. Would recommend.

Honestly the course is not bad to play at all, the greens and fairways are decent. The problem is that it gets backed up, even on weekdays. You will be spending approximately 4 1/2 hours here. The worst part is the range fees. It costs $10 to get 35 balls. Absolutely ridiculous.

Hey, do you want your catalytic converter stolen while you're playing a round? Come here! It's now 11pm and I'm waiting to file a police report now. Can't get it towed without a police report, and can't ride in the AAA cab due to covid. So I get to spring for an Uber too! Anyway, unless you want some inconvenient drama in your life, DON'T COME HERE.

The most unusual, awkward, and terrible customer experience ever. Arrived 20-30 mins early for tee time check-in. The first guy behind the counter immediately lectured us on how "every golf course in America uses last names for check-in" when we began giving him names of everyone in our group. He then was reluctant to give us a cart saying there are none available when we saw 3-4 empty cleaned ones behind us telling us "its first come first serve" but yet we saw him assign carts to customers behind us when we decided to wait for carts to be cleaned and ready. The odd part of this story was when we returned to check-in again about 15 mins later, another gentleman (who was a lot nicer) helped us. We followed every "advice" that was given to us by the other guy and when we listed off everyone's last name, we were asked instead for everyone's FIRST NAMES!!! You can't make this stuff up! Totally unnecessary behavior and customer service. Could've ruined our day but we decided to not let it affect our golf outing. As far as the course. My first and probably last time. It's super crowded and very slow moving. We finished 9 holes (Par 3/4) in about 3.5 hours and gave up on the back 9. A lot of other groups did too. The fairways are super tight against one another and there are balls flying around everywhere. You're going to hear a lot of "fore!" so be careful!

This course is extremely busy and for what they charge for a par 64 is not worth the money. I live in Cleveland and the price of $38.50 for a senior riding is outrageous. We pay $28.00 for a normal par 72 course. Booking 8 minutes between tee times makes everyone wait on the 2nd hole as number one is a paltry 80 yard par 3 hole. Fairways are extremely close together so you have to be aware of other golfers on the other fairways. Playing there once was fine but not going back anytime soon . There are other courses that are much better.

Hire a Marshall that's not allergic to confrontation. Playing as a six sum, we waited every hole while the four sum in front had almost two open holes. Called it in, and they were never talked to. This golf course is ran like a circus and the range is ran like a pawn shop. You'll get ripped off at the range and spend more time waiting on the group in front on the course. Find another home course.

Another golf course that my son has introduced me to. By him working in Westchester he frequents this location. This is a huge course, parking is free. This review is for the driving range only. It's located to LAX, the planes come in to land so low and loud. There is a prepaid magnetic key that allows you to get your bucket and balls, the price is pretty reasonable. This place is nice & clean, you constantly see staff cleaning around the course. There is artificial tuff in the driving range. They do offer night golfing 5:00AM - 10:00PM, Saturday's and Sunday's 5:00AM to 10:00 PM that you can tee off. I can't wait to return here to play golf but until then I'll keep on practicing because practice makes perfect.

I have mixed feelings about Westchester. It's a good driving range with good prices, and the course is cool because you're overlooking LAX. However, the course is typically overbooked so you'll wait in line for each hole on the weekend (sometimes 3/4 parties waiting). Also there are two older guys that work here that are super aggressive to everyone. They literally yell when you're checking in and borderline harass people. I'm not paying to play at your course if you're going to be so hostile. Moral of the story: If your in a pinch and want to play--then come here, or use the driving range because it's great, but if you have time to pick another course for the same price you should.

Westchester, oh Westchester, how sweet thee radar spins, thee airplanes roar, thee fairways pray for grass. Some say, the starter is meaner, I say no sir, he's a wiener. Others say, the course isn't nice, I say, would you prefer pubic lice? Is a birdie any sweeter at another course? I would say, anything above par, should give you remorse. People complain, people will shout, bring your own set of golf clubs yo, figure it out. The grass is always greener, when it's under your feet. Tada, Jimbo

Overall, I have always liked Westchester golf course and felt their prices were very fair, particularly the green fees. While I definitely support and understand the need to raise green fees, especially with the increase in the cost of doing business, I cannot understand the basis for the very steep increase in driving range costs. About 1 1/2 years ago the cost for a small bucket of balls went up 30%, from $6 to $8. Recently, that cost rose another 25%, from $8 to $10 for 35 balls (29 cents per ball). Additionally, one third to one half of the balls are very worn and rough. Even though the decision to raise range ball fees may have been made by American Golf Corporation, it nevertheless seems very unreasonable and unfair, and certainly reflects poorly on Westchester.

Restaurant only; Had some of the worst fries and chicken fingers of my life. And I think the ketchup was bad. I'd recommend eating somewhere else

Just wanted to take a moment to say Thank You to Scott at the Westchester driving range for his excellent customer service! My 16 year old daughter just started playing golf and you really made her night when you stopped by to offer advice on her stance and swing. First time ever hitting with the driver and she was a little unsure of what to do but after talking to you she absolutely crushed it! All she could talk about in the car was how good it felt to hit the ball like that and how she couldn't wait to come back and hit with me again. Honestly I feel like it brought the two of us closer together. We really appreciate your kindness and we will definitely be back! Thank you!!

To call this place a golf course would be disrespecting the entire game of golf. I do not recommend you ever come here unless you enjoy starting 45 minutes after your tee time and then waiting 15-20 minutes to play each hole. Essentially this place is a total dump and not worth anyone's time.

Cheap price is a very noisy environment next to LAX. Great weather being right near the ocean. Easy to park. Nice staff but no putting green to play on this morning. A very short par 64 course with a single par 5. Decent greens but the fairways are full of weeds and brown spots.

Imagine if laser zone or Chuck E Cheese opened a golf course. That's Westchester. Golf balls coming from every direction, stacking tee times on top of each other, people who believe deep down the Par 3 they're on is the make or break for them getting on the tour. It ended up being alright but we were still on pace for a 5+ hour round so we left. It's all Par 3's and it takes longer to get through than an LA municipal at the same cost. Driving range seems okay. Might as well just throw Fun Land in the name and market it to kids. The place is a circus.

Driving range is lit at NIGHT! Glad they are finally open again during Covid. Some mats need to be replaced, but overall a no frills standard driving range. I wish they had more shade, but I'll take this over Rancho's driving range any day. If you go often, load up on the $250 key card for discounts.

This place is outrageous, period. We came here on a Saturday for a tee time at 2:20 pm, and we checked in at 2:05 pm. The front desk bald employee was extremely rude, rolling his eyes the entire time. The golf course was extremely overbooked, and it took us 2 hour and 45 mins to complete 7 holes. I am going to do something else now to salvage my day after this experience. Just please do not come here.

Have been to this golf course a handful of times and it's a decent course. They have a large driving range but it's usually crowded, especially during this time. Right now tee times are a pain but we managed to get one last weekend and I have a really nice time playing 18 holes. Only giving it 4 stars because the course is nothing special, but it's a good course. It's not a course that wows you. But it gets the job done and it's enjoyable!

A bunch of crabby men with terrible attitudes work here. A shame, as it's one of only a few 18 hole courses in the area. Recommend a bit of customer service training.

This place keeps getting worse and worse with their surprises, hidden charges and lack of presence from staff. They just raised the buckets $3 from $12 to $15, that's a big jump! Especially after they trick you into buying the big deal which is lots of money and you base it on $12 buckets, it's a scam!!! I'm not sure what they e done as far as raising the price on golf, but it's a mess out there, if they want to act like a real course, then make people follow the rules. Good practice course, but if prices keep going up, might as well do a round at a real course...
