On the Grid : Votivkino

"The Votivkino is one of Vienna's oldest cinemas presenting art-house films for more than 100 years now. The seating couldn't be comfier and if you're up for some independently produced motion pictures, this is definitely the right place. There are several lovely curated film festivals over the year and it's sister cinema, "De France", is located just around the corner in Vienna's first district." - Maximilian Mauracher

Wonderful movie theater including a small bar with great vibes. Wheelchair accessible through stair lift and the help of friendly and considerate staff. One of these places that make Vienna a great city.

Used to be my favorite go-to theater for popcorn, but prices recently went high up. €3.80 for a small bag, instead of €3.10

The place is very nice, a well-prepared program. A special destination for more education and meeting people of the same interests. The documentary films festival is one of the best in town. The staff are nice and friendly. one can make it your destination for a nice evening without hesitation .

Beautiful, small cinema, not a mainstream commercial cinema, this cinema has a soul.

Votivkino is a small cinema with a broad choice of movies, film festivals, special editions like sunday breakfast & cinema. Has a nice bar for pre/post movie chats.

Great Cinema for English films in Vienna. Although the assortment of snacks is limited I was happy with the popcorn I got. If they had nachos it would be 5 stars.

Yelp
Votiv Kino is a pretty cool place indeed. Like other cinematic venues in Vienna, we were able to reserve our seats online in advance, without an additional fee, and pick up the tickets at the box office. The people were pretty friendly and didn't seem to mind that we were a larger group going to see the movie. Votiv Kino offers an interesting selection of movies, in their original languages with German subtitles, and it's in a great location (on Währinger Straße at the Schwarzspanierstraße Straßenbahn stop). I can't believe it took me two years to discover this gem; I'll definitely be going back!

Yelp
Votiv Kino is not like any other cinema. I daresay it is extraordinary. Here will be shown movies, which aren´t shown in other cinemas. I personally believe that cinemas has a hard era, so I liek to show you why you should go to this cinema and not in one of the big cineplex cinemas. I am a person I like the tradition and not such an modern consumption of movies. This is for me the best becauseof the reason, if you go there you won´t support some big entrepeneurs. If you are also thinking like me you will love this cinema. The Votiv Kino shows especially international movies often in their original language.
