In July, my husband and I enjoyed several days at the Vorina Ktismata. From the minute we arrived till the day we departed, we were very impressed with all that the hosts provided at this rare gem of a hotel. As others describe here, this beautiful, contemporary hotel is a collection of commodious rooms, each offering a unique view of the hills, chora or distant sites. Our room was spotless, and featured all the comforts of a well-appointed suite: modern shower and bathroom fixtures, toiletries, comfortable bed, desk, table and chairs, TV and even a small fridge stocked with ice cold bottled water upon our arrival.||Our mornings began with a delicious and large buffet – the best we had throughout Greece! There was both breakfast (eggs, breads, yogurt, fruit, muesli, toast, jams) and lunch (cheeses, olives, tomatoes and baked goods). Our hostess Alexia served excellent cappuccino and Greek coffee as well as juices, tea or regular coffee. She was not only attentive and welcoming, but full of useful local information on where to go, what to do, timely advice about ferry service, and even practical tips about the weather! ||We looked forward to our daily breakfast gathering, meeting other guests and enjoying lively discussion on sports, politics and tourist tips. The chora is a 10 minute walk from the hotel, very convenient for evening dining and shopping. After a busy day of exploring every corner of this amazing island, we’d relax in our freshly-cleaned room, feeling rejuvenated and satisfied to be right there in such clean, tasteful comfort.||Over our days together at the Vorina Ktismata, we also got to know the family members who run this hotel with grace and professionalism. Getting to know them, and learning about their own background and lives also enriched our stay. By the time we left, I felt like we’d planted a stake right there for a return visit. Amorgos and the Vorina Ktismata are a magical combination, offering the best experience for seeing and staying on a Greek Island in comfort, proximity to activities and an outstanding host family that’s truly rare in any tourist location.
