"Village East, Bermondsey Street. Designed within two strikingly different adjoining buildings - a listed warehouse and a contrasting glass apartment block, Village East combines both cosy booth seating, counter dining, a tucked away dining room and a spacious cocktail lounge. The cosy booths gain character from vintage-feel lampshades and urban mesh-style dividing panes. The food has a similar vibe - from comfort classics with a creative twist to healthy salads. This is a restaurant that knows what it’s doing and does it very well."

This is an outstanding restaurant with excellent service. Tried some very well-made cocktails at the bar whilst waiting for our table, and was made to feel very welcome. Enjoying the cosy atmosphere, we were then seated near the open kitchen where we witnessed dish after dish of mouth-watering food being made. Our festive sample menu was as good as anticipated and we enjoyed many beautiful, generous-sized courses, and a myriad of flavours. I loved the atmosphere and friendly, fun staff, and will definitely be returning.

Great spot for group brunches, friendly service but (as expected) gets busy and a bit slow on the weekend. Good pancakes! But the coffee was very meh. Lunch/dinner menu looks good though so- would come back!

Very enjoyable lunch, on a relatively quiet Tuesday. Good cocktail options, as well as lunch. The Reuben sandwich was a delightful mission of a sandwich, and the chips strangely addictive.

Shockingly bad service, waited (starved) for 45mins waiting for restaurant to open, despite having a booking and bar staff knowing we were waiting to eat, no one bothered to come and get us from the bar (where I’d been surviving on strange oiled up almonds) Once we’d announced our booking to the foh & asked to be seated, were told we had 2hrs limit, it took further 20mins to order -there were 8 tables in service for some context. We’d finished a bottle of wine between 3 then had to ask where the food was as our reservation only had 30mins left before we’d need to vacate and food hadn’t come out yet.. food arrived -realised we’d not ordered sides to mains & equally surprised waiters hadn’t noticed or tried to up-sell us earlier. Every 20mins the smell of burnt toast filled the restaurant. There was a chef noticeably running between up and downstairs. Camembert was under baked and drenched in aioli, when sent back for re-baking it again came back on a burnt board, unmelted indicating it was infact a cheap camembert (that doesn’t melt). Squid was over cooked -batter burnt & greasy. Duck sharer was dry with hardly any dressing. Burger tasted charred in parts, chips hard, and some of the wines were massively overpriced for what they were. Staff apologetic but apathetic. One dish refunded. The only thing that arrived quickly was the bill. No one noticed nor said goodbye on exit, we could (should) have just legged it.

I had a very good hamburger here. It was a bit of a wait, but worth it. I like very much the ambience in front of the open kitchen. The bar area is also very nice. At the restaurant you feel a little tight in terms of space.

The bar is decent and quite spacious, spreading out across two asymmetric levels. It has enough tables to accomodate busy times. The food is alright and their drink selection OK although their portiobs are very stingy. I ordered a double whiskey and what I got was more like single. Their cocktails menu is limited.

Amazing food and very good service bearing in mind it was packed. I loved the beetroot arancini. I'm definitely coming back to try other things in the menu. Quite a few vegan options, which is rare
