"Villa Panza Don't let your eyes fool you. Villa Panza is a not just a gorgeous 18th-century estate. The villa and grounds host the spectacular Panza Collection, an amazing grouping of art from the 1960s through 1980s, with particular attention to American artists. The individual pieces (paintings, sculptures, drawings) are incredible but what makes the collection are the site-specific installations from artists such as Dan Flavin."

What a fascinating place both inside and outside. We went mainly to see the modern American art. But found everything worth seeing. The grounds and garden are lovely. And the interior furnishings are spectacular. Then there are the surprising pieces of American pop art from the 60's intermixed throughout. The light installation across several rooms by Dan Flaviny was luminescentp and impossible to capture on photos. A delightful experience all the way around.

Please note that I am no fan of modern art, but I feel it would be wrong to judge them on that, since I did go willingly. The 3 stars are for the house and garden being lovely. Minus a star because €15 strikes me as expensive for the relatively few, (and monotonous), pieces of art on display and for charging €3 to park. It is very niche, but if one favors the school represented, one would probably rate it 5 stars.

A Sunday picnic in Villa Panza with family and friends was lovely. Ordered our picnic baskets from their restaurant (healthy and tasty). The gardens are beautiful/well kept. Also visited light exhibition and the younger ones found it fascinating.

It’s a wonderful and peaceful place to walk, to think, to chill. Each season is has own colors and palette of feelings. At the entrance you will disappear in a huge mirror-bowl. Very positive experience. Worth and must to visit if you love such places.

One of the most special spots to visit in Varese. Beautiful grounds that are meticulously maintained and interesting art exhibits that are updated frequently not to mention the delectable restaurant too …a must see

A jewel of a modern art museum in a stunning villa. Lots to see as well as attractive grounds, especially nice in warmer weather. Good (if expensive) restaurant on site but plenty of other nice places to eat nearby.

A must day trip outside Milan! It's just one hour driving from the city, and sort of near Malpensa airport. The villa-museum is a 700' mansion with baroque decoration and furniture. The owners are rich collectors that in the 1960s-1980s buy an impressive collections of conceptual and minimal american art. What it's impressive is that this contemporary art collection perfectly fit the environment, between baroque gold couches, chairs, mirrors, and african vases and sculptures. You can admire unique pieces (some made it for the villa as site-specific installations!) of Dan Flavin, Robert Irwin, and many more. Great videos explain the history of the collectors, and the artists involvement in the development of the collections. The park is lovely, with a great overview on Varese city. Few sculptures here and there made the walkthrough lovely and interesting.
