The 26 Best Things to Do in Rome

"Rome's largest public park is divided into manicured gardens, stretches of forest, pine groves, and bits of wild vegetation. There are wide open fields, as well as intimate nooks for romantic picnics. It's a perfect destination for runners or cyclists who want to get in a few miles without the nuisances of car traffic and smog. Whether you visit for a stroll, a meal, or a workout, be sure to have a map. The place is huge and some exits spit you out into residential neighborhoods." - Katie Parla, Maresa Manara

"With nearly 450 acres, Villa Pamphili is Rome’s largest landscaped park and a great escape from the chaos of the city. Villa Pamphili was originally built as a private estate for the Pamphili family. Now state-owned, the park is a beautiful all-ages playground for Calcio pick up games, running, biking, volleyball, and sunbathing. In the summer months, there is an al fresco concert series."

Lovely spot for a stroll in the sun. A large park to the west of the city on the Giancolo hill, lots of space for walking, playing games, dog walking, cycling etc. Beautiful big villa, now owned by the government. Lots of work being done in the park to restore fountains, the theatre etc to their former glory, so a fair bit closed or shut down at the moment. Open during daylight hours generally and not many access points.

It is a neglected treasure inside Rome, Recently there is in fact some renovations, but so slow may take years ,the fountain and the lakes are closed currently. Still very nice place for walking/running and kids playing At least two separate cafeterias and bathrooms available . If you are living in rome it is ok to visit ,but don't waste your time as a tourist ,villa Borghese is best choice in that occasion

Great area to go for a longer walk ( wear comfy shoes, its lots of gravel on thr ground). The park itself is more of a less denser forest, amazing for running or cycling. The villa was nice, but not veey well mentained, if you want to go there solely to visit it, you dont have much visitting to do ! Take food with you! And an umbrell: no ose spaces to eat, there is although, a fountain to drink water.

One of the best and most beautiful parks in Rome, especially Vivi Cafe.

Great area to stay fit or just relax. Even in the hot days you can walk in the shade of big pine trees. Benches and tables for picnic are available.

You should be aware of the size before heading in. This is not like the well maintained parks in other European cities, but more of an expansive natural park. No abundance of facilities like WC/water coolers. Not much seating spots. Renovation works ongoing. Safe without homeless/shady stuff. Many runners + families.

I really enjoyed visiting this park. Plenty of space, and uncontaminated nature with beautiful trees and plants

Yelp
Believe it or not, if you look for it, Rome has a lot of green space. This is a rather large park with historical relevance. Back in the day, the way back before time, Roman elites would come here to take a load off, chilax, and cool off a bit. By the way, for those who need to get their run on, this is a good option. Many hotels do not have gyms in them with treadmills, and the city streets are way too busy and chaotic to try and run on. So, uber your way to this awesome place and enjoy. Cheers

Amazing park. A must if you are in Rome. So relaxing yet full of culture and history. Highly ..recommanded as a hangover activity :) ..there should be a category for that on yelp!

Yelp
The largest landscaped public park in Rome, Villa Doria Pamphili poses as one of the best kept jewels scattered throughout the entire city of Rome. On a warm sunny day, you can often see many a mum strolling around with their youngsters. There are quite a few kids' playgrounds, though kids really only need a grassy path, a ball and their own fervid imagination to recreate a Sherwood Forest or reenact Sandokan's Indian adventures. The Villa is but a fraction of the beauty of such an amazing park but it is well worth the occasional visit. Along with saving a little time to dwell on the animals that have called this little corner of heaven. Maby a turtle, some fish, ducks and beautiful swans. On a lucky day, the occasional bird watcher may be able to oin point quite a variety of colorful and amazing birds. There are the occasional butterflies strolling around. So, grab a blanket, a nice book to read, maybe a few sandwiches and plenty to drink and... head on to this amazing place to lazily spend an afternoon you will most surely enjoy like few others
