If you like to watch skaters at the skate park, this is the place to be. They are awesome. If you like people watching, you could spend all day here. The beach was also very clean. That being said, I found that the town/boardwalk/strip; whatever you want to call it, needs major attention. Lack of clean bathrooms, buildings in terrible shape, homeless people everywhere and no good food options; I would go anywhere else, North or South for all of those lacking amenities.

If you’re into skating or just watching pros pull off crazy tricks, Venice Skatepark is one of the best spots in LA. The atmosphere is energetic, and the setting near the beach is fantastic. That said, the area could use better upkeep. The lack of clean public restrooms is frustrating, and the presence of homeless individuals and people openly smoking weed can make it feel uncomfortable at times.

Venice used to be the place to be when I was a kid. When MTV had started up and music videos were popping. This place was always on tv, in movies and stuff. Now that I’m older, it’s not as fun. One thing I can say is, you feel free and safe. There are homeless around, but they are respectful. The bathrooms are dirty sometimes and there’s always a line. Depends what day. After 10pm, it’s ghost town. I stayed the night at Venice Suites, right on the boardwalk. Good spot.

Iconic vibe and sunset views We visited Venice Skatepark during our walk along Venice Beach, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable moments of our LA trip. It was late in the afternoon, just before sunset, and we watched the skaters perform their tricks with the golden sun setting in the background. The combination of cool local energy, ocean breeze, and that incredible view made it a truly special experience.

Must visit spot in Venice if you want to catch the best up-and-coming skaters in town on the background of the most colorful sunsets right on the beach. No tickets needed, best to see close to sunset any day of the week and weekend. It’s a favorite spot that always inspires me watching the flow of this art and the high on life energy of everyone at the park. And of course the entry portal to Barbie world!

Great local talent showing of their skills. Attracting sizable crowds too. Great beach location

I decided to stroll the iconic beach and was completely drawn to the skatepark. I would’ve stuck around longer if the sun wasn’t already going down. It’s absolutely gorgeous with everyone being really mindful of each other and encouraging one another.

The skatepark in Venice Beach isn’t just a hotspot for skaters from around the world – it’s a place of true cult status. You’re riding on historic ground here: it was in Venice, back in the 1970s, that the Z-Boys crew gave birth to modern street-style skateboarding. The Z-Boys – a group of teenage surfers from Dogtown (the rough area between Santa Monica and Venice) – revolutionized the sport by translating their aggressive surf style to the pavement, creating a bold, fluid way of skating that changed everything. Their influence still defines skate culture today. The park itself is well-maintained, right on the beach, and offers a perfect mix of bowls, rails, and street elements. One of the highlights: the sunset light, when the Pacific glows golden and skaters perform their tricks in true California style. A must-see for anyone who loves skate culture – whether you’re on a board or behind a camera.
